"Oh, I know that." It wasn't something he was interested in but he knew that term, Venice had never seen it though. He'd heard of it in school though, it seemed someone in one of his classes at DCU was into it. It didn't appeal to him though, it was a lot of risk for no real reason.

"Yes, this is true. Magic or no?" Since they both had magic it was worth asking about. He knew what his own magic did and knew it to not be harmful, though it could be embarrassing to say the least, but he was clueless about the others though their sphere made it seem like it might be dangerous.

It would, to Venice anyway, be interesting to see just what would be brought to the table. He didn't do a lot of training with others, he didn't know a lot of different people as it was, so this was going to be a new and interesting experience - something to learn from. Taking the time to stretch as well he made to stretch his arms and then his legs, glad that he continued to go to the gym and maintain a good shape. He was glad for Terry's mother, now knowing about them being knights, making sure they ate well...since he had a bad habit of not eating properly on his own.

Ah, good, he recognized it! At least he didn't need to give any further details. He knew not everyone enjoyed the idea of it, but Encke loved free running. He loved the energy it gave him, the sheer agility and strength it required to get accomplished. And admittedly, he loved the rush when he was flying through the air.

He shifted from one foot to the other.

While it was probably a good idea to practice using his ability, he had youma for that. "No abilities." Encke offered a sheepish smile. "I don't think you're in the mood for getting burned today."

And, admittedly, Encke wasn't in the mood for burning knights, either.

"So just hand-to-hand I think. Unless you want to whip out your weapon, whatever it is." He quirked a brow. "You can move first, if you want."

"Weapon isn't a weapon really." As much as it was the weapon he was given he still didn't consider a feather duster to be much of a weapon. It was light in weight and the only really useful part of it was the handle, but that meant holding it by the feathers which made it hard to control and handle. He really wasn't a big fan of it, it only came out when he intended to use his magic.

"Ok, hand to hand." Nodding his head as he made to prepare himself and stood poised and waiting for the other. "You first." Wanting to be polite, not to mention he wanted to get an idea of what to expect from the other.

While waiting he did mentally note to find out just what the others magic did, seeing as he'd mentioned being burned. That did lead him to believe it was a burning, painful, sort of magic as he'd thought it would be given the others sphere. This was also something he'd try and remember, for future reference and because he might need the information in the future during a fight or something. It was good to know what people around you, in a battle, could do.

He had been hoping that Venice would go first for a fairly similar reason -- he wanted to be polite and he wanted an idea of how the other would attack (and perhaps how strong the other was, so he could scale himself accordingly). When Venice told him to go first, though, Encke shifted his stance, deciding not to argue about it and take the more offensive positioning.

It suited the way he tended to end up fighting, anyway.

Dashing at agents and attempting to deck them and snatch any starseeds they stole away.

Sounded about right.

"Alright, if you insist," replied Encke, with a laugh, before moving to break the distance with a dash. While he wasn't inclined to put the full force of his run behind his punch, Encke didn't exactly stop before swinging his arm back and aiming it at Venice's arm. Hand-to-hand, after all.

Watching the other rush him Venice shifted his weight, moving to brace himself, he brought his arms up and let the blow hit his right arm. He'd bruise, for sure, there was force behind the others swing. But it could have been worse he imagined, though he could be wrong, he had a feeling the other could have hit him harder. Wincing when the hit connected with his arm he returned the favor, sort of, he swung out with his left arm towards the others side.

His left arm, covered in metal, was put to use without much thought given to the fact it was covered in some light armor. Keeping in mind that they didn't want to injure each other too terribly, in case some agent of chaos turned up, he did temper his blow so it wouldn't hit as hard. Venice also figured it wouldn't exactly make him a friend, if they could be that, if he hit the other as hard as he could. Not just because he was a squire did he have strength behind his hit but time at the gym working out helped, his arms standing out and well muscled.

Encke saw the wince and thought to apologize, but quickly reminded himself that hand-to-hand sparring wasn't necessarily painless. Not unless they had that foam armor on he sometimes saw at the--

He cut his mind off when he saw another returned swing coming at his side, attempting to jump out of the way to minimize the blow. At the very least, he managed to stop it from impacting right against his side, the blow hitting at his back instead. It hurt a bit, especially with that armor, but he'd deal with that later.

Encke returned the blow, bouncing back and forth almost like a boxer for a moment before swinging out with his right arm at Venice's side.

Watching the other bounce back and forth was distracting, it made it hard for him to keep up with the other, that was in all likelihood why he missed the blow coming his way until it was too late to avoid it. His side hit, in the same area he had been bruised the other night. The bruise from the other night was gone, healed up and without pain, but it looked like he might get some black and blue there again - oh well.

A small grunt from the dark haired squire before he was moving to stomp one of the senshi's feet with his own right foot. H was hoping the other was watching his hands and would miss the attempt at a foot stomping, it was worth a try really.

Considering that he assumed most of the hits would stay above the belt, he missed the fact that Venice was going for his feet entirely, and was functionally a sitting duck when Venice went for them. He made a small yelp in response, jumping back for a moment.

He then resumed bouncing, attempting to keep his energy up. He tried to ignore the small pains that shot up his leg when he landed on his foot particularly hard. Part of getting better at fighting the Negaverse was ignoring things like that, right?

Or at least, factoring for them.

He swung his non-injured foot out, attempting to knock Venice a bit further away from him with a kick to the side. He went for the other side, this time, the one he hadn't hit first.

The other really did like bouncing about, and constantly moving about, it really did make hitting him and keeping an eye on him difficult. It was something to get used to, as he'd yet to really deal with someone who moved around so much, so he wasn't all that surprised when the other managed to get in an attack.

He had been waiting to see if the other would kick at him, as he'd done to the other, but he wasn't near quick enough to avoid the kick aimed for his side. It was, thankfully, the side the other hadn't hit yet. Though perhaps it wasn't such a good thing? Since now both sides hurt and throbbed. Really it depended on a persons view on it he figured, some might have preferred the kick to the already hit side.

Venice stumbled a step or two away from the other, due to the unexpected kick and the force behind it. Dark eyes looked down for a moment, to his side, before looking away. The dark haired male turned a bit before moving to kick at the senshi's knee in the hopes of throwing him off balance.

Encke watched Venice carefully, noticing that he was changing where he was looking, at his side -- had Encke hit a bit too hard? Maybe he would need to reconsider the way he was --

He saw Venice shift a bit once again, bracing himself for an upcoming impact. When it came for his knee, Encke attempted to jump out of the way, only partially succeeding. Venice's leg still scraped at his knee, not quite knocking him over, but managing to knock him back just a bit. Alright, alright...

Encke re-evaluated, again, looking at how Venice was holding himself. If this was an actual fight, he'd probably be inclined to hit at Venice's side again, but he didn't want to accidentally cause him any longer term problems than just some bruising. Of course, his foot was throbbing anyway, and part of sparring was injury--

He was taking too long to decide what to do--

He moved to throw a punch to Venice's right.

Watching the other get knocked back from his kick, he hadn't been able to topple the other, the squire was ready and waiting for the other to retaliate as he knew it would come. But in what form? Another kick or this time a fist? Maybe something else...? He wasn't sure what to expect so was shifting his weight from side to side, hoping to intercept whatever came his way, that he could dodge it if need be. Venice was hoping to see it before it came and handle it.

What came was a fist and he let it make impact with his shoulder and moved with it. He didn't try and stop it, that would likely hurt more. Stumbling back a few steps, as he moved with the hit and the force behind it, his bottom lip was bitten down on as a grunt still managed to be heard from him. Catching his balance the squire moved to return the favor, aiming for the others chest with a first. He did avoid using his left hand, due to the armor there.

"You do well on feet - keep moving and hard to predict."

Encke caught the way that Venice followed the punch, nodding in approval. If you can't avoid a hit, it was often better to try and absorb it, and following the force often made it hurt a bit less.

He also caught that Venice grunted, which meant he was hurting a bit. Encke took note of that, and then also quickly took note of the punch coming towards his stomach. Using the feet Venice observed, Encke quickly attempted to get out of the way, swirling to the right. He didn't exactly avoid the hit, but it did help him not get smacked right in the gut with it.

He bit his lip, attempting to suck up a bit of the pain that shot through his side.

"Thanks! What you did there," he said, on the exhale, "where you absorbed the force? Good idea if you can't dodge." Encke didn't go for a punch, this time, but he pushed his hands out in an attempt to knock Venice back a bit.

"If it hits...and you fight it...or tense - hurts more. To let it move is less resistance - less hurt." It wasn't something he often did in an actual fight, even though he knew it was the smarter thing to do. This was a practice though so he could do this now, he was trying to remember this in actual fights...it was just new to him so harder to remember and do on instinct. He figured with enough practice, and even more martial arts lessons, it would become seconds nature and instinct for him.

Wathcing the other, carefully, dark eyes were waiting as Venice kept shifting his weight from side to side. Unsure which way the hit was going to come from he didn't know which way he'd need to move, either to avoid or to counter it.

When it came it wasn't a punch or a kick but the other was pushing him...? Allowing himself to step back the few steps the others reach pushed him back, he was certainly surprised looking. He had, initially, stumbled back two steps before letting himself go back with ease.

With the space between them given, thanks to the other pushing him back, he moved to kick up at the other, aiming for a shoulder.

"Makes sense." Encke tended to go for the avoidance tactics, himself, but he knew that moving with the blow was a nice way to help minimize it. At the very least, like Venice had said, it would minimize the tension.

And if he could keep himself loose, that was better for his ability to keep fighting.

Encke had put enough distance between the two of them with the intention of being able to keep a better eye on what Venice was doing. When Venice's leg moved to swing at his shoulder, therefore, he caught it coming, and he chose to duck underneath it. Needing to kick up could cause someone to go off-balance, right? He saw that a lot in movies.

He pushed his hands out towards Venice's lifted leg, attempting to throw him off balance. (Though, hopefully, not into the ground. He wasn't trying to injure the other.)

He knew he was leaving himself open for what happened next, he'd be an idiot not to know, but that didn't stop him from landing on the ground. He wasn't even upset that the other took advantage of the opening he'd left him, he had knowingly left himself that open and done so knowingly.

Looking up from his place on the ground, sprawled out, the squire shook his head. "Knew that would happen." And he did, and he clearly didn't mind. Sitting himself up Venice slowly made to climb to his feet. "Was hopeful would hit before you knocked me down." But there was the big chance he wouldn't connect with the kick, but every time you tried to hit a person there was the risk of missing and being left open for retaliation.

"Continue or no?"
