I told you to go slowly.
I doubt going slowly would have stopped it.
Maybe not. But it likely would have noticed you too late to do... what it did. Are you all right?
I'll live. He hadn't stopped frantically swimming away ever since he'd been chomped, but he slowed now, breathing deeply to calm his racing heart. I'm not hurt.

Something angry and football-sized streaked toward his legs, its fanged mouth open wide. Had they been on land, Kent could imagine it would have sounded a bit like a parrot on steroids. When it got close enough for contact, he drew back and jabbed a foot at its face. Given that they were underwater, it didn't impact as hard as he would have liked, but it was enough to deter the creature.
Next time we bring a bat.

But don't you want to stay in the suit with me? Nice and dry... ish?
