It had been some time since she'd been approached and asked to join but she could remember parts of that first meeting clearly. Aurostibite had said he thought she was special, perhaps it was as the giant general said. She housed a heart of a world, while others housed the heart of a simple person.

"That's a lonely life, what a weapon might have," she said softly, fingers curling into a near fist, only prevented by the scratching motions she forced her hand to do instead. Hearing Titanlåvenite refer to himself as a weapon left an ache in her heart, a feeling she didn't know how to address, and she abandoned her interaction with the youma to move closer to the general.

"The youma I knew best liked me, as much as he could I suppose, but I don't think it was because of my energy. I think he's gone now, or I'd ask." The smile she tried to offer was a sad one, the subject of her once-friend a sore one even if she brought it up herself. "I don't know that I'm better suited. I want to be suited for his tutelage."

Once, she had wanted it so desperately she had all but begged for it.

"He made me feel special, when we met," she admitted, then wondered if that's how he made others feel too. She probably wasn't unique, but it was nice pretending. "I wanted-- want to impress him." It didn't matter how he treated her, or how harsh his teaching could be, Hydra knew that when it came down to it, impressing him, being worthy of his attention mattered to her.

Her medal she was proud of, the only one she kept on her or that she knew she had, because it reminded her that she was worthy.

"You're right," she agreed, hands falling to pick at one of the layers of her skirt. "I should be better about that. My...interactions have been mixed. I worry too much that they only focus on these," she said, tapping the cavity of her chest and then her forehead, "and not me."

Hydra knew it was something stupid to get hung up on, especially with the rising number of senshi like her within their ranks, but some always stared too long at things she couldn't control like it made her lesser.

"Thank you. I--" Hydra hesitated, then forced herself to keep speaking. "If it's not troublesome for you, I would like to patrol with you. At least one, maybe?"

‘Into battle, be my disgrace that Obsidian be surpassed in valour, a disgrace not to equal his valour, an infamy to survive him and returned from the field. I oath to defend and protect, to give my deeds to his renown. To fight for his victory, my rewards his love for me and keeping. Betrayal's reward is death, even by this blade. ‘

“Weapons don’t have much in their heads to worry about being lonely.” There was a gallows-laugh to self-insult. The large man quirked at her hand leaving the thick bristles of the bear thing. Skeiðbrimir huffed and craned after the hand, then found new interest in trying to nose-mushroom the layers of skirt without letting it’s great paws leave where it had been pushed down.

“But I already admitted I liked the partner in this youma as a change, “ she’d see the contradiction of statements as sure as she saw his eyes were grey. Titanlåvenite wanted to ask about her Youma friend. Hydra's hands and voice closed so, sometimes. First words already skimmed the cream enough for smiles to sour. That was inevitable for any who lived long enough to wear wings, or command portals to the Rift.

‘Maybe you’ll fix the Negaverse. Or maybe you’ll leave it, too. But don’t succumb to temptation like I did. Pretend that’s my last order. You know. And the breaking vow thing.’

“It is not troublesome. I would like that. Skeiðbrimir, too, as much as he likes. We have a similar service, it sounds. Lord Obsidian shines keen, and his sword goes back long into the Negaverse history. It is an easy want. And a bloody one. It hurts to the self...deeper than black stars or skulls we wear. Maybe one, maybe one hundred, but I will look forward to riding with you and your words. “

‘If you do not want it, then it is broken.’

"I think that anything with a pulse gets a little lonely sometimes."

Like most of the things about her, the statement was soft and she couldn't help herself when she reached for one of his hands, wondering if he'd let her take it. The bear's nosing didn't go unnoticed and there was a part of her that was elated that it took a good kind of interest in her, one that likely wouldn't get her killed or hurt-- at least, not as long as the general was with her.

She took comfort in that.

The girl couldn't quite remember the last time she felt...relaxed wasn't quite the right word but she couldn't think of anything suitable in it's place, in the company of another from the negaverse.

Were she bolder about things regarding herself, she would have dared to say that she felt comfortable. "Obsidian always looks..." Hydra paused, trying to decide which word fit the manic general best, "hungry. It's difficult, to go up against someone who is never satisfied but," her laugh is a shaky one, breathier than it should be, "I told him I wouldn't break."

She had come close, but she was still standing, still put together-- enough.

"When-- if you feel lonely, lonely enough to want to call on me, please do. I would like very much, to be able to patrol with you."

Hungry for what. The man had been disgusted completely with the leadership of the Negaverse enough to decide to go AWOL years back. His ambition in that sense had been not sated, but salted. His hunger for starseeds had been an addiction for power, escape, release, anything and everything altogether. Hope could try to paint that it was not a return to addiction that made his teeth grind now. Enough rain, maybe, had washed the salt away.

Titan was certain, as his hand came to be held by a much smaller one, that Obsidian’s teeth still ground, still snapped. She must have bled of them already, to wear wings, to have been a handpicked recruit of his. To declare things, as she had, would have invited harsher and harder treatment. Maybe it is better that way, than as I did. I did not speak of such things. He liked challenge. I was boring. She has been given much chaos. May it be enough to make her bones and body as strong as her words.

“It is a good oath. Words are spells. You said it, so it will be. You will not break. “ He gripped back her hand firmly, but not applying any aggressive crushing.

Skeiðbrimir huffed out a great sigh into the skirt layers, and chuffed. Titanlåvenite gave her grip an encouraging bob before releasing, “Until that evening, Hydra. Tonight we make ourselves late for harvest. Hunt well, Lady. Skeiðbrimir, kom då! For the Throne and Queen. “

Hydra wasn't very good at reading people, or rather, she wasn't very good at reading people who didn't want to be read and looking at this burly, beast of a man she didn't think she could read much about him. She wanted to, in the same way she wanted to be able to read Obsidian better, to understand his unpredictability better, but she worried she wouldn't ever be able to.

She liked Titan's certainty, the way he so plainly put things into the universe and said they were as they were said.

You said it, so it will be.

Hydra liked that and she resolved to keep that motto close to her heart. Maybe she'd write it down somewhere when she got home. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

The youma won her attention again, small fingers reaching to scratch the top of their head before she realized he was leaving.

"Ah, right." She swallowed hard to hide her disappointment. It made sense, of course it did, but she still wanted to linger. "I don't want to keep you. Thank you," a pause and some hesitation before she exhaled. "Until next time."

She scooted back, then took off.
