Cocky or not, it seemed that the green-haired lieutenant (Wavellite) was a fairly good match for Bloodstone - because whilst his opponent was young, it seemed that she had clearly been trained to fight - at least based on what Reinerite had seen of the fight so far–
But while it was hard to tell which of the two had the real advantage, Reinerite's private bet was still on Bloodstone - because he had worn people down before - well okay he had worn her down when the two of them had been paired up in the last set of tournament matches and this match was still far from over.

She talked a lot, and he was exhausted, and she was exhausting, and after being awake for nearly forty-eight hours, and then doing the tournament right after. Well, he was sure his General would understand if he wasn’t at his best.
And this little girl seemed so ambitious and full of herself that he was sorely tempted to just let her win, if only to hurt her ego.
“Good for you, but if you still think of yourself as a child, that’s part of the problem,” he pointed out as he made to punch her and grazed her shoulder.

HP: 12/20 Damage: 2“I was only fourteen when Ashanite bought me in. I was a child.” Wavellite snorted when the fist hit her shoulder and moved to stomp hard on the other lieutenant’s foot.
“I’m only fifteen now, so what would you like me to call myself? I’m not legal to drink or drive or vote, and sadly, I’m still under my parent’s control.”
For now, at least.
“I’m not upset that I’m a child. I’ll grow up soon enough. There’s just no way around that title right now. Give me a few more years, and I won’t be calling myself one.” She thought that made perfect sense and even though her words hadn’t spurred him to the action she hoped for…at least he managed to hit her a little.

”No one cares,” Bloodstone said boredly. He tried not to think about it too much, but being paired with a child right away was kind of an insult. So he would just have to insult her by not caring if he won or lost.
She talked way too much, and while he didn’t mind fighting, she was starting to get on his nerves in the way a yippy dog grated.
He didn’t even try hitting her that hard, and lifted his arms for an easy opening for her to attack.

HP: 10/20 Damage: 4No one cares? Wavellite frowned slightly. That was a damn lie. She cared. She thought that her words were quite mature and that they should be inspiring…something in this stupid, lazy old man. Anger flooded her then and she scoffed, taking a few steps backwards before running ant her top speed, bending her head over as she did. If he wanted to leave himself unprotected fine. Fine.
She would take the opportunity to at least get out her frustrations with the strongest headbutt she could muster.
Someone would care then. Maybe he would even throw up. It would show him ******** you.”

There were medical aid stations set up around the fighting ring, along with bottles of water and snacks to keep up stamina and nutrition. Aurostibite stepped over, waving a red flag.
"Round one, complete," he said. Bloodstone received a rare smile like Harmotome had for his competent work. "Well done, Lieutenant. And congratulations, Lieutenant Wavellite."
