Adam thought about what Cecil brought up. "Huh. You know what, guy?" he said pondering for a little longer. "I have no idea. Got no clue, fam. But, now what you mention it, I kinda wanna be the soda. Like the pop." he said. Pop is what people where he grew up called soda. "I think I like that." his lips curled slightly. He turned his head to Onyxia to respond. "Ain't yo call sign, girl. Just a name I made up to match your edge-y-ness." he cleared up with the same small smile. A small bundle of fire and two others arrived. It was Scylla...and Co.? But Scylla was in a very crappy mood. "Yo, Scylla. What's going on. You ain't actin' like yo'self, man. You straight?" he asked. Adam was a bit worried to say the least. "You know, I'm down with taking them and beating them within an inch-a dey life, but that killin' mess... I don't know about that, bro." he said. He knows how he sounds and what the situation is, but he kills Grimm. Not people. He's no longer in the Playpen. And he wanted to act like it. And feel it. "Now, I know that it could get hairy and y'all gone say" he puts on a slight mimic voice, "'Adam, there's gonna come a time when you may have to kill a person.' And I get it, but hasn't there been enough people dyin' around here. This isn't why ya boy wanted to become a hunter." he explained. "I will do everything I can to break them, but I won't kill them." he said. Turning to Ridley he nodded to her. "We'll be able to mesh just fine, sis." he sid. Thinking back "Scylla. Where's Damien?" Adam asked. He hasn't heard word about him since the incident. And he knew how much she was into him so his first instinct was that something happened to him. "Also. Who are these two behind you?" he followed up.

An Ursa would catch wind of Garrett about halfway on his journey. It would start to follow him, wanting to eat him.

Garret Reveley

"The Twin Spears of Old"

Profile
▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄

Garret walked unhurriedly into the forest, hearing the sounds of the gate closing behind him and lock into place. 'That didn't take long.' He silently thought to himself as he would briefly glance back at the gate. From his view it seemed impenetrable, and the guards themselves had probably resumed their positions in securing the gate from the other side. They probably thought he was insane or had a death wish, as he had noticed how people tend to leave the city of Vale in safer ways. The boat posed its own risks, but was generally slower while the airship would be the fastest way there. Both had the benefit of transporting groups of people along with their own built in defenses, and so it was the better option in terms of defenses. The airships themselves were the ideal method too. However both had a few flaws which had made Garret avoid them. The first of which for both was that he would have to rely on the vehicles. Though they expedited things and gave a larger measure of protection, if they were to be felled then he would follow soon after. Especially from the airship, as a drop from that high may well kill him. Fighting Grimm while trying to stay afloat would also be lethal in all likelihood, even if his spears could still prove useful. The other issue with those methods of travel was that he would not be alone. Even if it was unasked of him, he would be called upon to protect the lives of the other travelers. He did not want that, as he would fight if put in that situation...but every lost life would take a toll. The way by foot him put him most at risk, but he at least had control and didn't have to worry about others.

Garret smiled slightly as he continued his casual walk through the forest, the gate and wall quickly fading behind him as he traveled. "Only my life will be risked." He would softly say as he moved deeper into the forest, his eyes traveling around to take in his surroundings. One thing that was left to stand the test of time besides the major cities was nature. The trees towering overhead, the grass softly bending to the wind below, the flowers standing tall in small clusters. Compared to human life, trees were eternal. They would stand for several human lifetimes, continuing to grow and reach towards the sky, their limits not as restrained as it was for humans or faunus. "If you could speak, I wonder what stories you could tell..." Garret would say, speaking at regular volume, his hand reaching to touch the nearest tree. His gaze would move from the tree to the floor almost entirely covered by its shade. He would lightly scan the ground till his focus would be taken by a purple rose. Stepping away from the tree, he would walk over and crouch down next to it. He would study it a little as it swayed in the wind but remained firmly attached to the ground. He would gently reach over to the base of it before pulling it out and bringing it closer to himself. Smiling softly, he would rise from his crouch while holding it as Virtue would lightly sway from the motion. 'And the flower, living a short existence but breaking the chains of gravity to reach to the stars. It will never reach as high as a tree, but it tries nonetheless. An existence spent ever reaching towards a goal...almost like my own.' Garret would think, the thought leaving a bittersweet taste as it was compared to his own life.

Garret would sigh, continuing to hold the rose in his free hand as he would resume his journey with Heir gently tapping the ground in his other hand. Though he had been told many Grimm were here, he had yet to see any. 'Though that is hardly surprising I suppose, since I left Vale not too long ago.' He would think to himself. Though he had a desire for Grimm to be destroyed, he had learned the hard way to never underestimate them. He would usually follow them and watch before he would attack them if he felt he could take them. However, that required him to be the first one to be aware of the other. Though some Grimm could be very loud, others could be much harder to detect. Though his pace remained unhurried, his eyes would be constantly scanning the forest around him to try and see if he noticed any sign of a Grimm as he traveled. Time went by at peace for now as he traveled, enjoying nature while being alert. He was almost beginning to believe the town had exaggerated the amount of Grimm out here as he drew ever nearer to his destination. The destination itself seemed to be giving him the most trouble, as though he had been given directions, traveling in a forest obscured the natural signs and landmarks he had been told to look out for. Running to his destination would be out of the question unless he desired to become lost.

About halfway through his journey, at least he believed it was halfway as it was hard to tell since he had not traveled this path before, he felt a presence appear behind him. He continued his casual walk as he tried to listen for sounds of what it could be, not yet ready to alert it to the fact that he knew of its existence. It was not human, that he could readily tell, nor was it any ordinary beast. Whatever it was had heavy footfalls and didn't seem to be making too much of an effort to hide itself. As Garret continued to walk it continued to follow, and though it was slowly closing the distance, Garret was not moving particularly fast. Still, it seemed to be persistent in following him. Garret suspected it to be Grimm, but they had so much variation that alone would be of little help. His grip would tighten on Heir as he would stop and turn to face whatever was following him. Gazing back at what was obviously a Grimm, he would note its rather bulky body and sharp claws as it approached him standing on both legs. It reminded him of a bear, but one that was much larger and far deadlier. Still, Garret couldn't stop himself as an arrogant smile crossed his lips as he gazed at the creature as it slowly approached him. He would take the satchel off his shoulder and toss it to the side, knowing it would only serve to act as a hindrance. He still held onto the rose though with his free hand. He did not have a lot of experience with this bear like Grimm, having faced a different type far more often. 'Still, a Grimm is a Grimm. They have to be slain either way.' He would think to himself as his smile grew slightly. He knew not to underestimate them, but the familiar thrill of battle was taking hold.

As Garret drew Virtue from across his back, he would speak confidently and loudly to the Grimm trying to taunt it and to distract it long enough for him to draw Virtue itself. "So it would seem you desire to challenge me Grimm. It is with my deepest sympathy that I must inform you of your imminent demise...And that I accept your challenge." He would point Heir out towards the Grimm as he finished his small speech to it, not expecting a response from it but getting the desired effect he wanted. Not being able to hold the rose and Virtue in the same hand, he merely held the rose by his teeth as Virtue was now in his free hand. He would hold his ground where he was now, in a small clearing with the trees all around them. He needed to know the creatures capabilities before he could fully commit to attacking it or charging towards it. Feeling the familiar thrill of battle course through his veins he held both spears at the ready, the toe of his right shoe facing the creature as his left foot was pointed parallel to the creature. This stance would allow him the chance for a quick movement back or to hold firm should he choose to do so. He saw no point to activating his semblance just yet, as he knew once activated he would need to make the most of it or else he would be severely hampered. A part of him also wanted to see if he could do this without it, but he would not hesitate to activate it should he feel the need. He was hoping it would have the tell tale weakness of large size: speed. If it were slow, he could capitalize on that and have a small advantage. If not, the fight would be skewed in its favor. His gaze would be locked on the Grimm, as he could not afford to take his eyes off it now in case it decided to strike in his moment of distraction. This would leave him vulnerable to any more coming visually, but he hoped his sense of hearing would help him in that regard. Intent to see what it had to give, as the first strike was typically one they gave their all in like most predators, he would wait and react accordingly.

Azura Knight

She politely took Adam's hand in greeting just as another from team SODA arrived. “A pleasure to meet you as well Onyxia.” She couldn't help but smile a bit at the teasing banter between Adam and Onyxia. It seemed that SODA would be a rather entertaining and enjoyable team to work with. However her smile slipped a bit after Ridley asked if they were ready to kick bandit butt, and she looked towards the injured member of their team. Azura was concerned about what Cecil meant by taking his time with one of the bandits. It sounded rather ominous. She didn't have long to dwell on it however as the leader of team SODA marched up with two other girls in tow. Azura frowned, wondering why two people who were not from team SODA were here and if it had been cleared with the headmaster. They had been given rather specific instructions in regards to the bandits, and given some of their classmates had died those instructions were not to be taken lightly.

So much for first impression. Azura, nor anyone from ARCB for that matter, had a chance to introduce themselves before Scylla launched into a tirade. One that Azura didn't appreciate in the slightest. She found Scylla to be incredibly rude and there was no quicker way to Azura's bad side. Even Onyxia and Adam seemed a bit taken back by it. She certainly had no intention of killing anyone unless absolutely forced to in a life or death situation. Fortunately Ridley handle the situation perfectly and Azura was never more proud to have her as leader of their team and Adam echoed her own thoughts perfectly in regards to killing the bandits, and the two girls that had followed Scylla out her. “I agree with Adam. We should avoid killing unless left with no other choice, otherwise we are no better than the bandits.”

Garret heard the beasts savage roar as it looked directly to him. His confident smile flickered quickly as he heard it, the sound being intimidating to most who heard it. But it was only a small flash as his arrogant smile returned as he knew full well the damage a Grimm could inflict. He was unsure what went on in the beasts mind, if anything at all could go on, as he wondered whether that was a primal reaction or meant to intimidate him. If it was the former, it would be put down like the mere beast it was...though it would be respected. If it was the latter... 'Then it will know what true fear is before it steals its final vile breath.' He thought to himself. Still, Garret held his ground as his gaze would remain locked on the Grimm, rose still held by his teeth even as he would be smiling to the beast. His mind was battle focused even if on the outside he seemed to not be taking things seriously with his smile. He remembered all those dear to him who had died to the claws and teeth of the Grimm. Remembered why it was that he stood alone against this Grimm now, with no help to speak of. And why he preferred it to be this way.

It was at this point that the Grimm would charge him, the beast going down on all fours like a bear to do so. It was muscular, and as it ran he would see its forelegs crash into the ground as it would push itself forward. Its rear legs would be the next to move as the forelegs would be left on the ground, moving forward as much as they could and the moment they touched the ground it would move its forelegs again. The movement of the charge was similar to that of a bear and all other types of four legged created creatures when they would do so. 'Which poses a weakness if I could exploit it.' He would think to himself. However doing so would be very risky as he would have to improvise in that regard while also having the bear be particularly close to him. His eyes constantly tracking the Grimm as his grip on both Heir and Virtue would tighten. He had other options that needed consideration as well, though his time to ponder them was growing ever shorter.

He could charge the beast as it charged him, clashing with it head on and utilizing the extended range of his spears to be able to get the first strike against it. It would allow for him to also disengage if needed to by merely letting go, but that in and of itself posed risks. Further, with how muscular it was he may even be pushed back and have that turned against him. Still, it would mean he would probably inflict a severe wound on it, but he still had the fact that he had a trek left to reach Beacon. Not dismissing it, his next line of thought would be to use the fact that it is still at a distance to his advantage as his eyes would flicker down to Virtue. He could throw it as it was charging head long to him, believing with its build up of momentum it probably could not swerve. The issue would be hitting a weak enough spot. If it were like a bear, the skull was not an option. But hitting anywhere would likely not instantly kill it, only wound it. And there was the point left of what he would do after. His final line of thought would be to use its charge against it and merely dodge out of the way once it was near, maybe even bait its charge again into something that may stun it. All the ideas had their pros and cons, but he had little experience with this Grimm to know if any would even work.

All this took place quickly in his mind as he ran through his options, knowing it would be upon him soon enough. And all but the first could be repeated again later. As such, his face would lose its arrogant smile and instead be replaced with a determined look as he would move his right hand which was wielding Heir up in front of him in the shape of an L. He did this to act as a target marker for him as he lifted his left hand with Virtue up, switching his grip as he did so in order for the back of the spear to be behind and parallel to his shoulder as the spear head faced the Grimm. Though he could throw it from a far distance, he wanted to make sure the Grimm was committed to its charge. So much so that he activated his semblance so that he would not take any chances with this. He could feel it as it coursed through him and into his spears, quickening both of them simultaneously. He would adjust his aim minutely as the creature drew nearer, making sure it was aimed for around the upper chest and lower neck area.

Once it was within ten feet of him, he would move the spear further back over his shoulder before swinging his hand forward almost as a lever with all the force he could muster letting it go before his hand would descend back down from his side as his whole body leaned forward slightly. The spear as it was released was aimed directly for that spot, the heightened speed from his semblance affecting him and his spear ensuring it would very quickly hit that region with increased force from the higher speeds as well. Once that was done, the whole purpose of activating it would then be utilized. Knowing he waited for it to be close and committed, hopefully, he would now have to make sure he was still not attacked in the process. He would then attempt to dive to his right in order to be out of the beasts path. Ordinarily, his human speed would not have been able to do both as he would not have enough time to recover. But with his heightened speed, he hoped it would be just enough to clear the Grimm's main blow and hopefully avoid the hit entirely. He could not say with a certainty that it would, as it would be a close cut. As he dived he would extend his right arm that was wielding Heir out in the same direction as his diving path to make sure it did not get caught by the Grimm and wrenched from his hands. His eyes would move away from the Grimm only now as he would focus on his landing area, trying to plan what his next move would be if he successfully made it so that he could take advantage of the time it would buy.

Cecil watched as the other team leader had arrived, laying claim to being the leader of the operation before he shook his head. He would respond, but their leader did for him, bringing a small smile to his face as he nodded his head at Ridley. "Good, I will enjoy that small pleasure." He told her before he could hear the tones in their voices as he focused himself, straightening his back as he could, with some minor pain, but the cane would have to do for now. He took a deep breath in before he started to move towards standing between Ridley and Scylla before he soon said, "Butting heads before a showdown with our foes will lead to an early demise... we do not want to end up like the late friends we've made." He then turned to look at Azura as her comment did resonate with the others before he responded, "Morally speaking, that statement holds true.... yet we need to make sure they can't hurt others again if we do let them live."

The Ursa would roar loudly at the man as he would hit in in the head. The Ursa was not stupid though. It knew that the target would come to him. He roared again at the man, showing no intention of backing down. Should the man come closer, the Ursa would push the spear deeper into it's body, in order to get it's long claws into the man.

"The Twin Spears of Old"

Profile
▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄

Garret's eyes were focused on his landing zone, but his peripheral could see the shape of the Grimm as it got ever closer. The hulking beast form grew the closer and closer it got as time seemed to slow down. Garret could see himself getting closer to his destination but he could also see the beast becoming ever nearer. Though he would not admit this to anyone if asked, he closed his eyes from the tension of the situation. He knew he could not react to it in time if it got him, and that looking would only agonize the experience. But his closing of eyes was in preparation for it he were hit, knowing it wouldn't work but reflexively acting that by doing so the pain would be less. Though he only closed them for a second, it felt like an eternity as time stretched out in the darkness, hearing the Grimms charge as it was pretty much next to him. Garret was broken from this dark eternity as he felt himself hit the ground, bouncing slightly from the force as he skid across it. He heard the Grimm rush past him, its pounding footsteps fading slightly in noise as it too began to skid to a stop. His fall had left him landing primarily on his right side, so as he would move forward he slid along it. Reacting quickly in order to make sure he was not attacked, he would scramble onto his hands and knees and then to his feet. The process itself slightly harder than normal given he had to keep Heir within his grip. Once standing up, he would quickly turn to face the Grimm.

The Grimm had turned to face him, Virtue impaled in its skull with at least three fourths its length still sticking out. Though it let out another fearsome roar, Garret couldn't help but smirk as he saw the sight of it. 'I may have missed my target, but it seems I hit something that is at least amusing.' He would think to himself as his eyes were locked onto the Grimm. As he kept his gaze on the Grimm, twirling Heir in front of him before he would stop to point it at the creature, he wondered why it was no longer charging at him. 'If it kept to the act of most beasts, it would have ran away or charged. Grimm rarely knew the meaning of run away, so why is it not attacking...' He would ponder to himself quietly. He had heard its roar upon bring struck, even if it was not in a fatal region. To hold back from acting on instincts meant this one at least had a basis in intelligence. "Perhaps you've learned to fear me. A bit late i'm afraid...as that will not save you now." He would say confidently, arrogant smile returning to his face. Ordinarily, he would respond to this by taunting it to charge but he was on a timer. He could not maintain his speed for too long. His semblance was more of a way to quickly end battles than go through a long one as he had found out. Though he did not trust the creatures passivity to be purely fear, he knew he could not delay fighting.

His original plans of it charging to him and using that to his advantage were for now not possible. It was intent to wait on him to come to it, giving it the defensive advantage. But that also meant it could only react to what he did. 'And if it does not have sufficient time...' Garret's arrogant smile grew as he calmly took a few steps towards the Grimm, still being a decent distance away. With each step, he would slam the blunt end of Heir to the ground to emphasize his movement towards it, the sound lightly filling up their clearing. Garret studied how despite having the spear embedded into its skull, it did not seem to acknowledge it past the initial blow. 'So wounding it would not paralyze it.' He thought to himself. Pain was usually a good way to distract an opponent, but it seemed it would not be as effective here. It was then that he remembered the rose in his mouth. With his left hand he would gently take it out as he stopped walking to the Grimm, Heir leaving one last loud thud as he did so. His eyes would look between the rose and the Grimm and to his spear. An idea forming in his mind. 'Since it seems you got cold feet, I shall take the lead." Garret would say in an arrogant tone as he would charge to the Grimm.

His plan was simple. The Grimm was on all four of its legs, its face still a little higher than his own given its size. He had to hope things went as he planned, as otherwise this would end badly for him. Though he could fight it at a range, there was always the chance that it would try and bat his spear away which would leave him defenseless. And seeing how it had the other spear impaled in its head and seemed to be just as combat effective did not help. So he had to hope his gambit worked so he could deal a more devastating blow to it, else he was not entirely sure what he could do. He increased in speed as he charged straight for the Grimm, using his semblance to hopefully give him an edge. Hoping that it would aid him like it did when he dived out of its path earlier. His eyes were locked onto the Grimm with a determined look, his left hand still holding the rose as his right held Heir point up as he kept his grip strongly on it. He would wait till he was very close to it, to when he could clearly see its eyes and was just entering its range...when he would do two things simultaneously. With his left hand he would throw the rose to its face, trying to use it as a distraction to temporarily obscure its field of view. At the same time he would lean back to purposely make him fall, to change his run into a slide. He was using the momentum from his charge to hopefully carry him in a clean slide to go just underneath the Grimm as well as hopefully any attacks, assuming it did not stop him.

As Garret slid towards the beast, unable to really alter his course now that he was committed without an outside force, his eyes intently studied the beast in the short span of time that was his slide. Though his momentum from his charge meant he was going at a decently fast speed, the friction from most of his body sliding on the ground did slow him down a little bit and would be a constant force working against him. He was not going as fast as he would have liked. Being so close to the Grimm, he took in its details as from his perspective time seemed to have slowed down due to the adrenaline coursing through his system. The Grimm was covered in a black fur, black having been a common color he saw in the Grimm. The only color he could remember seeing them in. The coat itself was dirty and unkempt, the tell tale signs of travel and battle punctuated all across it. 'The beast obviously does not groom itself,' an odd thought that crossed Garrets mind, 'Probably because it did not care.' His eyes would travel up to the creatures face, where he had thrown the rose to in an effort to obscure its view and distract it. It bore a white and red mask, another thing common to the Grimm he had encountered. He felt it must bear some significance, but he was unsure what. He also noticed Virtue still sticking out of its head, shining in the light of the sun. 'I'll retrieve you soon enough.' He silently told himself.

His eyes caught movement to his left and quickly swiveled to see what the source was, changing their focus from the middle of its body to its right side. He felt his heart beat faster as he saw it raise its paw and begin to move it in a sweeping path towards his upper torso. His initial speed, it seems, was not enough to allow him to get past it without provoking some attack and his rose gambit seems to have failed as he could no longer see it. His mind raced as he thought of his options, the reasoning taking place in a fraction of a second on instinct alone as he knew he needed to make a fast choice. He only really had two options to choose from, not even fully consciously processing it in his mind as his body was instinctively taking the choice he felt was right. The first option would be to attempt to strike at it as it would strike at him. Seeing it easily recover from having Virtue impaled in it, he knew a pre-emptive attack would not stop it from attacking him. And from his angle while sliding, if he tried to do one he would likely lose Heir by having it get caught inside him unless he did not pierce it with his full force. That would require a bit of precision, and he did not have time for that.

The second option, the one his body was already moving to do, was to use Heir to try and deflect or at least block the blow. He had to make sure Heir would stay in his grip, as he was not willing to be left weaponless against it even with his heightened speed. Even wounding it more would not be a good enough reason to let go of it. Heir was being held across his torso and over his shoulder, held by his right hand near the top and his left a bit lower in order to be able to have slid with it at all. Though he could not really alter the orientation of the direction of his slide much, he could lean and move his arms freely during it. Leaning to the left slightly so he was not completely flat, he would quickly strike. Though his goal was to avoid a blow, he had no idea of the power of one of its swipes as he had yet to see it in action. As such, his main focus was deflection as he would twist the spear at his fastest speed to try catch the Grimm's clawed paw at the side at a slightly raised angle just at the very bottom of the spearhead and direct its angle so the attack would aim a bit more inward and up. He twisted the speed for this quick pre-emptive strike by first leaning his head as low as it could go before moving his right hand to the left side of his chest and his left hand to the right side of his chest. This would quickly move the spear in the span of less than a second normally, but even faster due to his heightened speed.

The Grimm's claws would've just missed hitting the top of the upper torso it was aiming for, and the spear was now in the opposite position than it started in so it was not taken away from him nor was it hit. However, in his focus on the attack coming from his left and having leaned to that way to deal with it, he was left unaware of its attack with its left clawed paw. He felt its claws cut into his back, quickly leaving three long cuts as they tore through the back of his clothes. Garret winced and clenched his teeth as he felt them, unable to defend against that attack as he had committed to the first one. With his leaning as well, his back had been more exposed which was why that area took the the cuts. His grip on Heir tightened, feeling a slight burning feeling there now from the fresh wound. He felt an anger boil inside him, and a cold determined look cross his face as his slide would then continue. 'You shall pay for this.' He silently thought to himself as he tried to ignore the pain and push through the shock. He would end this fight as quickly as he could, hoping it would feel the pain he was about to inflict on it. Marked by its claws but otherwise untouched, his slide landed him to be right beneath the beast. He had taken the toll to get to this position, and he would make sure he took advantage of it. He would quickly angle the spear so that it was aiming a little up but not touching the ground and moving it a little down his body. This was to give him even more force as he would then thrust diagonally with an increasing angle to impale it into the underbelly of the Grimm. He used his speed and the momentum of pulling it back before the thrust to try and get it as deep into the Grimm as possible. It would have gone in at an angle so that the spearhead was aiming towards the front of its body. "Feel my wrath beast!"

The Ursa would roar. The man would notice that it took a considerable amount of force to stab into it's flesh. It would rear up onto it's hind legs, and step back. It now had a spear in his chest, and in it's head. It was angry as it went towards the man, bearing it's teeth in claws, going in to start to try rip him apart.

Ora would walk towards the school on the outskirts. It had been two long years, since they had been wiped out by Vale for trying to make their own nation. For wanting to end the evil that is slavery. The only reason she was alive was because of him. It wasn't Narx, but that old man. She regretted not dying every day. She was safe, but Narx and everyone else was not. It was irritating. She missed her brethren, the only ones to ever make her feel welcome. The ones that saved her from her life of misery.

Ora's footsteps weren't silent. She knew that she would never be silent. She would have to just keep trudging on. She then heard the sounds of combat. She would get closer to the sounds. She would then see a man, sliding under an Ursa, however, the Ursa didn't look very happy. She would close her eyes, drawing her Aura towards the man. She hoped he would accept her Aura, and allow her to swap with him. She was much better suited to take the brunt of the attack than he seemed to be. "Oi! Accept the Aura! She would scream out.

Garret felt a satisfying thrill as Heir worked its way into the Grimm, though it was a much harder endeavor than he had originally thought. He heard the Grimm's roar from his spear piercing it, and smiled at the fact that he got it to feel some pain at the least. It had finally shown some sign of pain. The Grimm's skin was much thicker than he had originally thought it to be as only the spearhead penetrated its tough skin. He would have preferred it to have gone in deeper, but with his position and the apparent toughness of its skin it could go no deeper without another concentrated effort. 'It serves its purpose as is.' He silently thought to himself, knowing due to the nature of the battle he could not be picky with how things were and would need to make do. All he needed to do was to pull the trigger and then the beast may go down, 'If not, I will have a second shot to do so.' He reasoned to himself, though he hoped the first shot would be enough. It would be much more complicated if the fight were further dragged out as he was running out of time with his semblance and would lose his advantage of speed for this fight.

It was then that Garret noticed the Grimm begin to rise. It seemed it would not completely fall to the baser instincts and try to attack him beneath him where it may be at a disadvantage. As it rose Garret had to move himself. If he stayed prone on the ground, he would be left vulnerable to its attacks. However, he was on a timer now as he had to move and re-position himself before it could be able to do so. It may have delayed his plan to fire the gun part of Heir, but he could always do so later. He would quickly flip onto his stomach and push himself up to his feet, rising up to his full height. He took a few quick steps back as he got to his feet to put some distance between him and the Grimm. He needed to be near it to use his spears and to do what he believed would be more devastating attacks to it, but he also needed to make sure the creature didn't capture him and prevent him from doing so as well. A bear hug would have effectively left him completely helpless. A few feet away the Grimm was now standing on both of its hind legs again, towering a bit over him as Virtue was now out of reach from him. Heir prominently stuck out of its chest though it seemed to not be interested in pulling it out quite yet. It took a step back, paws raised up and its palms facing down, aimed towards him. It bared its teeth and claws to him as Garret was sure he had finally made it mad. 'Which would make it more reckless, and easier prey if deadlier.' He thought to himself, staring down the beast with a determined look as he showed no signs of being intimidated.

As the Grimm seemed prepared to attack, he heard a voice speak off to his right. His eyes widened as his gaze quickly turned to glance at the source for a split second from the shock alone. He saw a person in an almost entirely full suit of armor, the only part not being her head as she appeared not to have a helmet. What he saw was more strange than seeing someone in an almost full suit of armor just walking through the forest like himself. She head a long mane of platinum blonde hair, unrestricted from what he could tell. Her eyes were a brownish red color, and she had scars over her face. However, the most unique feature she had was a set of horns that looked a bit like a lambs. That was all Garret noticed as he looked to her, making sure his gaze did not linger as he turned back to focus on the Grimm. His eyes again widened as he saw it going for him to try and tear it up, taking initiative when he looked to the girl. Garret quickly jumped back, doing his best to keep his distance from the Grimm and not be caught by one of its attacks.

Garret's mind was trying to process things as fast as he could while he tried to stay out of the creatures range. His mind immediately focused on the fact that she was now in danger as well, and that he had to make sure she did not get involved. He could take the Grimm down himself, he was sure of it, but he knew nothing of this girl. If the Grimm targeted her she could die. As such, Garret spoke with the intent of getting her to leave, not wanting whoever this was to be hurt and also wanting to finish this fight as it had stated. 'One on one, a fight to the death.' He repeated in his mind, resolved. He would not look to her as he would respond, his eyes intently focused on the Grimm. "Your assistance is not required. This beast is already dead, it just does not know it. Besides, you would only get in my way." Garret would say in a loud and arrogant voice, intent on getting her to leave. He had to finish this fight before she decided to join it. However, he would need to do so without ensuring his own demise. If he could get to either of his spears, he would have a chance. However one was up high while the other was easily in its claw range. Which just meant he had to find a way to reach the one on its head. His semblance would run out soon so he had to act quickly, as once that happened there would be no way to keep the other person out of harms way. Looking behind him, he saw a large enough tree for his goal. With a smile to the creature, he would turn and run, jumping onto the tree and climbing it as quickly as he could with his heightened speed. Virtue was too high for him to reach from the ground. So he had to reach it from a different height. "Come Grimm. Going to let yourself be bested so easily by a human? I don't believe I have seen a more cowardly and weak Grimm than you." He would taunt it as he scaled up the tree. He needed it to get close for his plan to work. Though he was scaling up, he kept one eye on the Grimm intent on how fast it would reach him. Ideally he would be just out of reach, but if not...he had an idea on how he could get that to work as well.
