She turned back to Nadia, and smiled. "Yeah! You're just a Skype call away, or a text or---something! Nah---I couldn't let you put your dreams on hold to look after me, Nads...I just...couldn't and not feel guilty." She watched with some anticipation as she opened the gift, and beamed with delight as she appreciated the scarf. "Oh---" She was about to reach for the envelope when it fell, but Nadia got it. Instead, Olga reached out to put her hands on Nadia's, stopping her from doing anything else with the envelope.
"Love letters." She dead panned at her friend, and then laughed, blushing a bit. "No...Um. Well, you know we were pen pals but since I moved here we haven't written, and I've missed it, so I spent the past few months writing you letters! You can't start opening them though until you're on the plane back to Russia! It's a letter a day after that, okay? There's enough in there to last you like a month---"
A pause.
"Or two."
She stared off into the distance.
