"She thought it'd fix me," Švejcar said, grinning at his brother but not at all amused. "Worried I was going to influence you and Rosario." He took a breath and sighed. "When she found out about you it... was probably her worst nightmare coming true." He shrugged, then frowned. "...I'd been planing to get out for a while. I mean... I'm eighteen now, and graduating in May. I find a place, you can come with me."

Now he paused and shrugged. "If you could stand staying with me, anyway; I know I'm not your first choice." And for a very good reason, at that. "... How do I get back to my normal clothes, anyway? We're going to get hot cocoa, you need it. And the demon cat can come too, I guess - can cats drink that? I don't mind buying for three if I need to...."

Wait. Bailey? And Owen too, probably. No wonder Daniel had gotten so close to them, if they were both magic. They shared something that nobody else knew about... it was kind of endearing in a weird, little-brother-liking-somebody way.

Well, that was a simple enough transformation, and soon Thomas had tugged his brother into a one-armed hug, holding him and guarding him from his own nightmares. "Daniel. Daniel I have no idea what you're talking about but I would never hurt our family," he said, then paused and corrected himself, "...I might want to punch Mama a little, but that's all. Promise."

This sounded like a long story, and one better told with a lot of hot chocolate, so he started guiding his little brother toward his car and beckoned for the cat to follow along. "Sure, marshmallows is fine. And even if you don't know much about my brother specifically, it sounds like there's a lot you do know." And he needed to know as much as possible, if he was getting involved in this mess.

"... And an alien or something, are you? Glad you're not just a demon possessing an innocent cat. I don't actually know anybody who could do a proper exorcism on a feline." which was something he had been considering, if this 'cat' was getting his brother hurt. (...Never mind that he had done his fair share of hurting Daniel himself. He was done with that. For now and forever.)

"Oh, uh.... about that," thomas said, frowning. "... You know Rosario saw? She called for help. Papa's... not happy. With Mama." He didn't really know what was going to happen, but Thomas didn't think it was going to be particularly good. Mama and Papa loved each other, he knew, but Papa had never condoned striking someone. Whereas Mama...

Well, Daniel would know about that better than he would. Mama had just tried to get him out of her sight by sending him to a correctional school.

"You seem a little too nice for a demon anyway," he told he cat as he slipped into the drivers' seat and buckled in. "Could you keep an eye on my brother here now and then? I won't always be able to be there, and while it sounds like you have other people... Daniel here needs more people looking after him."

Alien-cat-thing or no, she was a person, at least it seemed like she was, and... Daniel needed people. "If you have the time."

"No! Not at all," Thomas was quick to reassure his brother, reaching over and squeezing the younger boy's shoulder. "Mama did, by hurting you. She scared Rosario, Daniel. Rosario is still scared of her, and she misses you." He paused and sighed, shaking his head. "Though... maybe not quite as much as your dog does - he's been tearing up the backyard nonstop. Trying to get out to find you, I think."

And if a little bit of that old jealousy rose up within him - that Daniel had gotten a pet, when he'd been denied one - Thomas was quick to squash it, instead nodding to the cat and pulling out of the parking spot, beginning the drive to a coffee shop in the area.

"Ah, I suppose it's only polite to ask - you have a name, don't you?" He asked the cat, risking a brief glance at her while waiting at a stoplight. "I don't think I asked it before."

"It's nice to meet you then, I guess," Thomas said, still feeling rather strange about introducing himself to a cat, but... it was what it was. Besides, right now there were far more important matters to attend to. Namely, trying to take care of his little brother, and become what Daniel needed him to be.
