"No turning back, but it's not too bad here," October said, which was perfectly true. It was better than the Apartments had been, that was for sure; it could have been much worse on many levels. They could have still been fighting for their lives against rabid zombies, and while granted, that was bound to happen at some point in time in the future, they could at least breathe easily here.
"You'll get your weapon next," October informed her, eyes flickering over Mel's face, a slight smile quirking at his lips before fading again. "It's in a place called the Dark Cove. Don't worry too much about that, the weapon will find you, basically. And then you'll get your room assignment, and you'll get your coat and a cell phone, it's preprogrammed."
He fished around in his pocket until he unearthed his own, holding it up to show her.
"It'll have my number in it, so you can talk to me anytime."

Victoria base and this base--she assumed it was Deus HQ--being "not bad" was something Mel could easily believe, especially after spending who knows how long at the Apartments during that madness over two years ago now, so she kept on a steady smile and listened quietly as he answered her questions. She fiddled with her fingers a little bit, wondering briefly about that little smile of his that faded in and out, while she took in all the information he offered.
"Weapon in the Dark Cove," she repeated to help her remember, "room assignment, coat, and a cell phone."
She leaned just a bit closer to get a better look at the one he pulled out. "Looks like an iPhone," she murmured before straightening herself out. "But as long as it works and your number's in there, I don't really care what it looks like. I won't bother you too much, though! Just...I dunno, when I need to see a friendly, familiar face."
Mel smiled brightly up at October and, not wanting to linger too much on what she just said, quickly asked, "So the Cove is which way?"

{ Are you happy to find someone else here too? } Tuesday asked, sounding delighted at this very fact - but then again, it was Tuesday's normal demeanor to sound delighted at everything. October felt his mood lifting slightly.
Yeah. I am.
She bubbled with happiness. October nodded in time to what Mel was saying and added, "It's kinda iPhoneish. Cooler, though. Less fun games, but more fun gadgets. Regular electronics don't work here, but I bought myself a 3DS that I can play, which is awesome."
He hadn't missed what she'd said, though. October nodded at the doorway.
"Make a left, then another left. Want me to walk you there?"

The mention of not-working electronics tugged a worried little heartstring of hers--but what about her shows?
The brunette's expression went blank for maybe a second before she shook her head and tried to keep her priorities, at least for the moment, straight. He said something about a cove and a weapon, and that was her current immediate next step. Everything else came after that, and there was still hope for her shows and other entertainment needs if October was able to get his hands on a working 3DS.
"I can do with fun gadgets, I'll definitely be checking it out once I'm all set up with a room and a phone and everything!"
With that she took baby steps toward the indicated doorway, stopping short when he offered to take her. She considered it for a moment but ultimately shook her head, softly smiling up at him and feeling incredibly grateful not just for his offer but just for him being there in the first place, even if it was only by chance.
"You're on duty right? I think I can handle it, but thank you! I still have questions, maybe I can come find you once I'm all settled?"

"I want a TV next, but it's a lot of money," October lamented, as if this was a terrible fight. He did like keeping his money stored away for whatever was necessary; maybe he could borrow some from November, but that seemed ill advised under the circumstances.
Mel was given a small, faint smile. October leaned over and pecked a kiss to her forehead.
"You can find me anytime, I'm around," he reassured her.

She reined in her questions about TVs and why it would be so expensive and instead, when he kissed her forehead, nodded just a little bit.
"'Kay," was all she could manage, much appreciative of how soothing that gesture was given her nerves were starting to ramp up again. She had been on the verge of having silly little thoughts of him not actually being around once she was out of this cove, or that he might turn her away or something of the nature once she was out...so his reassurance went a long way to calming her down.
"I'll see you later, then."
With that she gave him a brief but very tight hug before heading out the door.
