Forera threw herself at the door, ramming into it with all her strength and flinging it to the ground. The tealblooded troll rubbed her nose, looking back at her team and throwing a thumbs up at them. "Tha deed is done, y'all!" Door, opened. Now all was left was for Stryke to disarm it.

Making his way over to the second control panel, Stryke studied them for a long moment. Frowning he leaned in as he took note of the interact system. Realization dawned on him as his fingers began to fly over the key panel. Crouching down, he rifled around with the wires that lead to it before he sliced a grey wire, effectively disarming the trap mechanism. Nodding to Forera as she had smashed the door in, he looked to the group.

"We are good to enter..be on your guard we don't know what's inside." He cautioned.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.
The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!
You have encountered a ...

Dice 1
1. ... Horrific... (-2 on all attacks)
2. ... Agile... (-1 on accuracy rolls)
3. ... Contorting... (-2 on all accuracy rolls)
4. ... Preserved ... (-1 on all attacks)
Dice 2
1. ... Toxic... (Players take 2 extra damage per turn)
2. ... Relentless... (Players take 2x damage on the lowest accuracy roll)
3. ... Empowered... (using artifacts/ability/items deals 3 dmg to the entire party)
4. ... Burning... (take an extra 3 dmg each time you deal max damage (highest roll possible for weapon or damage-dealing skill))
Dice 3
1. ...Wailing Zombie Prisoner!
2. ... Mutated Elite Troops!
3. ... Undead Cyborg!
4. ... Pack of Shambling Lusii!
MINIBOSS STARTING HP: 30/30
If you rolled a 1, take 5 dmg.
If you rolled a 2, take 5 dmg.
If you rolled a 3, take 4 dmg.
If you rolled a 4, take 4 dmg.
If you rolled a 5, take 3 dmg.
If you rolled a 6, take 3 dmg. Your attack this turn does double damage.
If all party members reach 0hp, look below:
You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,
you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.
Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first or second mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.
If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.
If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.
If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.
You cannot roll the dice then choose the flat restoration, one must be picked beforehand.

If a member of your team is a trained Troll Relations or Leadership specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.
If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp.
If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp.
If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your third mini-boss fight, you've reached one of the propulsion systems! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - It's a mess of disturbingly fleshy wires down here, but they all seem to be connected to a single, monolithic console. Everything is where it should be according to ground control's instructions, so recalibrating the power output is simple enough.
2 - It smells like ash and rot in here. Some of the wires are torn, sparking ominously in the vicinity of a particularly charred corpse. The unit is just draining power like this. With ground control's assistance, you manage to shut down the system and quarantine it.
3 - The room is pitch black. You're only able to discern its purpose through narrow flashlight beams and stumbling over the snaking wires. The console at the center is nothing but a dead-end for the ship's power supply. With instructions from headquarters, you manage to grope around in the dark and quarantine the system.
4 - The room feels like an inferno with how strained the propulsion system is. With instructions from headquarters you're able to alleviate pressure from the unit and reroute power accordingly. The center console already begins to glow less menacingly.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

It was kinda disappointing, her power, when compared to the flash, dazzle, and excitement that the yellowblood had shown. Sure, Chiara would not trade shapeshifting for anything in the world, but the flash and dazzle was just so, so cool. She knew she would have to keep an eye on that one. He was good stuff.

It didnt have to be flashy to do its job. Better yet, it was subdle. Chiara grinned at her party, then took a second to power up her arm, and attacked, giving the monster a large gash in the chest. "HaHA!!" the blueblood shouted as she did it. It wasn't flashy, but man did it do the job.

Oh gog, what kinda troops were these? Forera used her motion to shove a couple of them down and crush their legs with her steel toed shoes, just to make sure they wouldnt stand up again. She watched Chiara stab her hand into a monster and pull it back, leaving the tealblood to gape a little. Wow, that was hot.

Man, if she was gonna pull the big guns out, Forera would too! Slamming her fists together in preparation, the tealblood bit one of her piercings and felt the power course through her veins, an overwhelming amount of strength fueling her desire to pummel. Forera went berserk, slamming her fists into whatever monster near her before realizing, wait, there was no monster near her, and hey, they were all dead. She gave the group a big grin and a thumbs up before pointing ahead of them and beginning to move.

His gaze flickered over to Chiara, noticing how she had used her powers he was impressed. So she was powered? Interesting, he'd never met her before but she seemed to have a few tricks up her sleeve.

Then again so did Forera with her impressive raw strength, and Ephias with his tenacity. As far as he could determine they were all combined one hell of a force to be reckoned with.

Seeing that everytroll accounted for already had been fighting tooth and nail, Stryke addressed them with a curious expression on his face. "You are all doing marvelously, we will be through this in no time." He praised the group of trolls. While only standing at 5'3" he held his shoulders squared as he spoke to them. "We are making excellent progress, let's keep up the momentum." Stryke smiled.

Heh. This kid-- Was he trying to intimidate them or act like some sorta leader? Forera arched an eyebrow at him. "Thanks, kid. I think we're doin' pretty good too, let's keep it goin y'all!" Forera clapped excitedly, pat Stryke on his head, and then moved on. Was Chiara still around?

Chiara had her hands on her hips, and was panting a bit. It always took a bit out of her to attack with her power. It was for subterfuge, for plotting, for sneaking, not exactly for buffing up and punching people. At least it worked both ways, Chiara had a preference tho. "Ooh," Chiara responded to the yellowblood's speech. "Tell me more in private, okay?"

What was supposed to be an inspiration speech was cut short when he heard Chiara asking him about talking in private to her. His eyes widened as his cheeks most certainly tinted yellow as he cleared his throat. Well then. That wasn't...what he had expected. A nervous chuckle left his mouth as he shook his head, moving ahead and waving to the group to follow him. The sooner they got through this maze, the better he figured.

As they walked own the corridor, Stryke became aware of the fact that there was a distinctive lack of the sound of the undead. No moans, or shuffling feet lurked around the bend. Pursing his lips, he wondered if perhaps this sector of the ship simply didn't have a large concentration of daywalkers? He supposed anything was possible. The sound of their footsteps and occasional breathing along with the click of Ephias's sheer's was the only real sound to speak of. It was strangely peaceful, given they could have been knee deep in combat trying to fend off the undead.

Whatever the case, they had made it further with little to no event thus far.

Chiara jumped ahead, somehow still having energy and, more impressive, enthusiasm. "Come on slowpokes!" She shouted as she skipped ahead, making sure to swing those hips. I mean, they had a good view, might as well give um a little show too. She looked over her shoulder and winked.
