Basic Solos #1-2: 2037 words Larissa wasn’t sure why she had come out tonight. Her powered uniform didn’t allow for much warmth and while she wasn’t freezing per se, she was still way too cold for her own good. But… it gave her an excuse to enjoy the outside a bit during the cold weather. She had only awakened recently and only had one battle, but she still wasn’t too sure about all of this. Especially since she was awakened as the senshi of a flower. It just didn’t seem to fit her personality at all. Yet, she hadn’t been able to just ignore all of it, especially considering that she knew how agents worked a bit. She probably would have ignored all this a bit more if she had only been told about Negaverse Agents versus fighting one.
Since it was the latter that happened, she couldn’t just pretend it never happened. The pain was too real and she hadn’t woken up from a mushroom-induced hallucination afterwards, so she had to admit that it had been real. And it wasn’t something that was just going to go away on it’s own if what she had learned was correct. It scared her a bit, going up against something so large and something that wanted you dead. On the other hand, though, it gave her an excuse to get out of the house a bit more during the winter months than she would otherwise. Well, she wouldn’t, but luckily it turned out that being powered up in her uniform meant that it also came with some sort of heating function, otherwise she would have stayed back at her home, staying under an electric blanket and watching videos on her computer.
She slowly walked through the park a bit more, wondering if she was doing the right thing by going out by herself to ‘patrol’. She still wasn’t too sure if she should be doing this by herself, but she had felt too stifled in her home to stay there for too long, especially now that classes were over for the semester. Sometimes she wondered what she should do after she graduated, as she still wasn’t sure about what she wanted to do as an adult and it was something she had struggled and wanted to deny was happening. Heck, she still felt like a little kid and she was already a junior in high school for goodness sake!
As she was going through her thoughts, she didn’t notice the other aura nearby, coming towards her.Alphubel for his part, felt more comfortable patrolling during the winter months. As much as he liked summer, he was now starting to feel more of an affinity towards winter. Or perhaps he always had it, but because he lived in California, he wasn’t used to when it got colder, IF it got colder, so the shock of winter elsewhere had made him complain along with his older brother.
Tom… he was staying with his brother for the winter this time, especially since he had to take care of Bluejeans and could finally spend more time with the kitty. Not that the kitty seemed to mind, Bluejeans just slept most of the time anyway, but it was nice to have such a lap kitty again and just having the cat to pet during his stressful finals had lowered his stress levels. And when he called Tom for updates, which his brother was always glad to give, he at least knew his brother was taking good care of the kitty. But luckily Bluejeans still seemed to prefer Jason and so when Jason could be around, the kitty would gravitate towards him and sleep on him all of the time.
Well, he was at least staying with his brother for most of the break. But with 4 weeks off, they were going to go back for the week of Christmas at least to celebrate with the rest of the family. But Jason was just thankful that his brother seemed to be back to normal and they were communicating regularly once again, which he had Bluejeans to thank for too. So he was out patrolling tonight with an attitude that was happier than it had been for a while.
While he was out though, he sensed the aura of a senshi nearby, what seemed to be a basic one, and had decided to investigate. He had soon gotten to the park and saw the senshi who seemed to be… lost in her thoughts. A perfect target for any Negaverse agent! And her outfit didn’t really look like it was suited for this weather. She was cute too. Alphubel first wondered if he should even try to approach her. After all, she was a young woman wandering around by herself, a male approaching her suddenly might startle her. But… she was also a senshi by herself, she could easily be attacked.
He decided to approach her, and did so, walking slowly and making sure to make some noise, just so she wouldn’t be too surprised, while giving her a, “Cold out tonight isn’t it?”Larissa was still lost in her thoughts when suddenly she heard a noise near her and she looked up, about to call out an attack. She saw someone who seemed to have a lantern with him and at first thought it was a Negaverse agent. But… the guy didn’t have the same type of aura, and it certainly felt friendlier than any Negaverse agent’s. She lowered her guard a bit more when he talked to her. She raised an eyebrow, opened her mouth to say well duh back to him, but closed her mouth, thinking better of it. She figured he was just trying to start a conversation with her and if he had said something like ‘nice weather’ she would have decked him. Especially since his outfit looked so warm.
She shook her head, trying to gather her thoughts. And let the man approach her. “Yes… I wish my outfit was more suited for it.” She replied, giving him a small smile. Once she got a better look at him, she could see that he was kind of cute at least. “I… uh you seem like a senshi. If I may ask, who are you.”She doesn’t know too much then. Alphubel thought as he gave her a small smile in return, continuing to hold his lantern in one hand. “I’m Alphubel, squire of Polaris. I’m a knight rather than a senshi, and you can think of us as allies to senshi.” It was the best explanation he could give at least. He supposed that most senshi would have knights, but how they were unlocked, or at least how those senshi became princes or princesses he had no idea. It was almost a bit sad that most of them hadn’t yet unlocked that yet. There were probably a lot more knights out there, unawakened and unable to fight or who might be targets for the Negaverse. “Polaris is a Princess that I follow, but that doesn’t mean I won’t help other senshi.” Though he still wasn’t exactly sure what to do. Without their princesses or princes, knights didn’t seem to have much direction and mostly seemed to help around randomly. He often thought about creating a group that would help them help each other more and get to know each other’s types better, but he could always dream, right?Larissa was a bit taken aback. Sure, she had heard of senshis and Negaverse agents, but a knight? Like, ‘knight in shining armor’ knight? She looked at his outfit, raising an eyebrow. It didn’t look very protective now did it. But then again, considering her outfit, where she was some type of power-ruler-warrior or something in her past life, well, this was all just a bit weird considering the labels used. “A squire? So, still working you’re way up to knight then?” She asked, raising and eyebrow and giving him a smirk.Alphubel blushed a bit at her remark. “Y-yes. I was a page at first. But I guess I… proved myself somehow and became a squire.” He still wasn’t sure how or why it happened. It was just one day he was powering up once again and suddenly he felt a surge of power, much like he had when he had been awakened, and after it noticed his clothing was different and that his glass had transformed into a lantern. It had been quite the surprise, and he had stood there, stupefied for a few moments, wondering what had happened, before remembering he had heard about there being stages for pretty much every type of powered person, squire being the second for knights. He couldn’t help but roll with it, and wonder why it had happened, but since information seemed to be so hard to find, he couldn’t really ask anyone else, though he had thought about Delphi and Sutai about it, but hadn’t wanted to bother them in case they were busy. After all, it was springtime, and he didn’t know if they had school or not. It wasn’t until the summer when he had been able to meet and go to Delphi’s wonder that he had finally had some of his questions answered.Larissa smiled. Well, it seems she wasn’t the only one feeling a bit awkward by the conversation. And his small stuttered just made him a bit cuter. “Well then Alphubel, I’m Larissa, senshi of Water Lillies. It’s nice to meet you, and to learn that we have some more on our side that just our fellow senshi!” She was pretty sure that’s how it worked right? They had some ‘guardian’ cats and their fellow senshi, but to have those who were meant to serve and protect senshi on their side? It was nice to have at least. “I was just… patrolling a bit. But it seems that I spaced out a bit.” She said, crossing her arms in front of her chest and giving him an embarrassed smile. “I’m… new to all of this and don’t really have anyone to help me with this stuff, so if possible… would you be willing to help me patrol tonight?” Perhaps she could get his civilian contact information too. After all, they wouldn’t be powered all of the time, and if one of them was powered and the other wasn’t what good would that do if they needed to communicate? Or at least she was hoping he would be willing to help her later, but so far he didn’t seem to be a bad guy, just a bit embarrassed.Alphubel blinked at first, wondering if she really had just asked him for help, before he nodded, and tried to moisten his suddenly dry mouth. “I’d love to! I mean uh… I would be happy to help. I know how intimidating it can be to do it by yourself.” He certainly did, and he had seen way too much that he shouldn’t have because of it. “If we run into any problems I’ll help with that too. Instead of using attacks like senshi, we knights have magic through our ‘weapons’.” He replied, holding his lantern up. “So if we work together, we shouldn’t have to worry about any danger.”Larissa smiled, slightly impressed. Though she wasn’t exactly sure what his lantern could do, it at least meant he could help and she wouldn’t be the only one who could defend the two of them. “Great, thanks so much then! Uhm, after this, do you want to go out and get something?” A coffee shop should be open at this time of night she thought. She wasn’t too sure, but if they weren’t, she was sure a fast food joint would be open.Alphubel smiled brightly at her. “Sure! It’s always good to know how to contact a person when you aren’t powered up.” Well that and it was the first time a girl was giving him her information, not that he had asked others, but he was surprised at how easy all of this was. He held up his lantern a little higher. “Well, if you’ll let me guide you, let’s start this patrol shall we?”

Basic Solos #5 & 6: 2544 words Alphubel waited patiently at the park that he and Larissa, or when in the civilian forms, he and Cynthia, usually met up at. He hadn't heard from her since the day that she had come over to Tom's apartment to go with Tom's girlfriend to that circus and it worried him a bit. He had heard what had happened from a few other knights and some senshi since then, but he hadn't heard anything from Larissa and that worried him. As soon as the news had gotten the story about the circus, he had frantically sent text messages to Cynthia, and Tom to Stacey, to make sure that she was okay. All he had gotten back in reply was 'I'm fine, thanks.' And that was it. And for quite a while it seemed to be that she was ignoring his texts and calls, which meant that something awful had gone down there. He wanted to talk to her. It was only a couple of days ago that she had finally texted him back, asking if they could meet at their usual spot, which Alphubel enthusiastically agreed to. And so now he was just waiting for her to arrive. Wonder what she'll think of me now. He thought, blushing. He had only been a knight for a short time, and was still getting used to it himself, but he hoped that she would be pleased. Larissa hurried to the meeting spot, cursing her family a bit. They had all been quite worried for her after what had happened at the circus, and even her older brothers were being a bit more protective of her. Sure, she appreciated it, but that also meant fewer chances of being able to sneak out by herself and had only found time on the weekend to do it when all of her family would be out. Unfortunately, what had happened was that her parents had insisted that she go with them, where she would be 'safe', she had scoffed at that, and when her parents couldn't convince her, her brothers had taken it upon themselves to try to encourage her to go with them instead. Which had made her late and she was already annoyed to begin with. She was annoyed and angry and sad and confused all at the same time. The circus event had freaked her out too much, and while she had stuck inside a couple of days after it had happened, her parents calling in her school since they figured she wouldn't want to go back yet, and it was only now starting to really hit her how awful it had been. And while Jason, her boyfriend, the guy she loved and knight, he hadn't warned her about this! And she felt angry at him for not doing so. Surely he had been attacked like that before? Surely he could have at least told her to watch out?
All she knew was she wanted to yell at him. Scream about how awful she felt. Just, be angry! Her rational mind knew that this wasn't a good idea, and that he might actually dump her for this, but her emotions were running too wild now, and she needed to pound something. She had gotten closer to the meeting spot, and she felt quite a powerful aura. It still felt like a knight's, but even stronger. She ignored that right now though, she had tunnel vision going, and as soon as she saw Alphubel, she was ready to pounce.Alphubel was scrolling through his phone, until he felt Larissa's aura, and quickly put it away, making sure that he wouldn't be on it by the time that she came by. And soon enough she was there! He waved at her and gave a hearty "Hey Larissa!" But she kept at the same pace and when she got closer Alphubel could tell that something was wrong. She didn't look happy. Actually, she looked quite angry, and Alphubel could only put a surprised look on his face before he was tackled to the ground, his staff falling to his side, as he felt the punches of his girlfriend's fist on his chest. Luckily they didn't hurt too much, but it was a lot like when a massage machine was being a bit too hard on you and you just wanted to stop. He tried grabbing her fists, and eventually was able to grab around her wrists. "Larissa, stop! What's going on?!" At first he wondered if she could possibly be turning to the Negaverse, which horrified him for a moment, but then he looked at her face, and she was… crying. Oh no. He thought, his face falling a bit. He could tell that the circus event had really affected her, and she seemed to be taking out whatever she was feeling on him. But he couldn't let that continue. "Larissa, snap out of it! It's me, Alphubel!" Words didn't seem to be working though, and he quickly wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. She seemed to struggle for a bit, but Alphubel continued to whisper soft words and rubbed her back, and eventually, she just started to cry. Larissa felt like she could have hated him for all of this. There was no one else to talk to, other than some other senshi friends, but she didn't feel too safe in doing that. She felt like she had to be paranoid every moment, like there was something else lurking in the shadows, that a youma would find her and attack her or her family, and she wouldn't be able to do anything about it. She hated the helpless feeling that she had gotten from this. She had practically flying-tackles Alphubel and sent him to the ground and immediately started pounding on him. Not too hard, as she didn't really know how to fight and she wasn't that strong, but she pounded enough to get a message across. She could hear him saying some words, but she couldn't understand them. She was too emotionally compromised right now, and just wanted to get some of this feeling out. She did notice when he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug, and she tried wriggling her way free, but it seemed like he was so strong, and she was just a little senshi and… and… and she couldn't help but cry. Cry because she had seen such horrors, cry because she felt like she couldn't do anything. Cry and cry… eventually though she calmed down, and was grateful for what Alphubel was doing, and him massaging her back. It made her feel much better… and guilty. She realized what she had done, and although she knew that Alphubel would forgive her for it, she had just hit him! Multiple times! She buried her head into his shoulder. "Alph, I'm so sorry. So sorry!" She said, wailing a bit and then crying a little more. Alphubel was just glad that she was finally starting to calm down. He smiled while continuing to rub her back. "Larissa, it's okay. You should have never been subjected to that. It was an awful, horrible thing. I'm so sorry." He said, trying to make her stop crying. Honestly, she should have never gone through that. He should have never gone through some of the things he had, along with seeing a person killed. There were tons of things neither of them should have gone through in a more peaceful world. But that just wasn't what this was. This was a world where magic existed and were Chaos wanted to destroy everything. This wasn't just countries that were warring with each other, the whole concept of life itself rested on the senshi and the knights. This wasn't anything that these young people should have had to go through. And for senshi to be young adults, and even children, it was even worse. Eventually, though it took about 10 minutes, Larissa finally calmed down. She pulled back, trying to get out of Alph's embrace, and accidentally looked at his face, which seemed to be happy that she was finally feeling better. She blushed. "I'm… I'm all right now Alph. I'm sorry for that. I should have never done it." She said, feeling too guilty to look him in the face for long and turned her head to the side. How could he even want to stay with her now? She had caused so much trouble and had even hit him. Alphubel though, was just happy that she had finally stopped crying and quickly gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Larissa, as I said, it's okay. You were probably just feeling a lot of emotion and although you probably should have taken it out on a punching bag or something, I understand it boiled over when you saw me." He knew that she wasn't usually like this. It would be hard for a normal person to go through all of that and not have some sort of reaction. She finally looked him in the eyes and saw that he had forgiven her. She sighed, the blush creeping up higher. "I… that wasn't like me Alph. I am so sorry. I promise not to do that ever again." She said, trying not to cry again as she thought about just how badly she had treated him just now. He smiled and nuzzled her with his nose a bit. "It's okay. You want to tell me about it?" It would probably be horrible, and he wasn't sure if he could hear it himself, but he would have to eventually, even if she did tell a more experienced senshi or knight first. She couldn't possibly keep this to herself for too long, and she certainly couldn't tell any therapist about any of it. As long as the Negaverse was there, there really was trusting no one, even in civilian form. She sighed, gathering herself again to make sure that she wouldn't burst out crying again as she told him what had happened. She told him how they're memories had been wiped, how they had had to kill all of those agents and the two youma. That there was always this feeling now in the back of her mind that something was wrong. Alphubel held her throughout all of it, disgusted that she had had to see and do all of that just to protect herself. Luckily it seemed that Cynthia had found Stacey at the end of all of it and they had escape together, but to see all of that… even though Jason had seen worse when he was younger. It wasn't right. However, once she was all done with her tale, she looked at Alphubel, feeling a bit better. "After that I was a bit angry. I felt like you should have warned me about stuff like that happening, that I could have been more prepared but, I know I was wrong now." She said, giving him a small smile. Alphubel sighed and shook his head. "The problem is I could have warned you. But I will admit I haven't seen anything like that done. Even when that killer hospital thing went on. But that was just against some youmas. I have seen someone killed in front of me though. It wasn't my fault but… I know that feeling of helplessness. Like you should have been able to do something, or you should have known what was going to happen and you didn't do anything about it and now it's all your fault. Even though your brain tells you that it wasn't, your emotions tell you otherwise. I'm so, so sorry you had to go through all of that. And unfortunately, I can't say that it's going to get any better. We're in the middle of a war facing pure evil that wants to wipe out all life. There's going to be more of this, and all we can do is do our best, all right?" He said, making sure to look her in the eye as he said it. He wanted her to make sure that even though she was a senshi now, that sometimes things were just going to happen beyond her control that they just couldn't deal with. She sighed once again and gave him another hug and then pulled away. "Thanks, Alph. That really means a lot to me." She said, giving him a smile that practically melted his heart. She was about to go in and kiss him on the lips, which he was enthusiastically leaning into, when she thought she saw something weird, and pushed him away. She could swear something was… different. She felt the knight aura even more now, having ignored it as she had searched for him. That was when she gasped as she realized something. "Alph, your uniform is different! What happened?" Alphubel was really wanting that kiss, but Larissa pulled away before they could complete it and for a bit Alphubel was disappointed that it wasn't happening, until he realized that she was looking at him. And at his uniform. Oh, right. This whole time Alphubel had forgotten to tell her about what had happened to him, not that he really could have, he was trying to comfort his girlfriend after all, and blushed when she finally said something about it. "Uh right. I'm a full-fledged knight now." He said, trying not to look like a tomato with blond hair. It took a moment for what Alphubel had said to sink in, but when it did, Larissa went to full squealing mode, and immediately hugged Alphubel closer. "Oh my gosh congratulations! That's amazing! And you look so handsome too in your new uniform! I'm so happy for you!" She said, hugging him as he tried not to get knocked over again, though this time he knew she wasn't trying to. Alphubel laughed a bit, hugging her in return. "Thanks. I'm still getting used to it. Still don't really feel like I should have gotten this far but, here I am. And in no time, I'm sure you'll be an eternal senshi too." He said, giving her a squeeze. At least he was pretty sure how that worked, that eternals were the last stage before Prince or Princess. He felt a bit sad that he could never truly be her knight if she were to become a senshi princess, but they got along well enough, and he had heard that there were other relationships between senshis and knights who were not one of their own. Perhaps it was better that way. Larissa didn't really care about any of that though, she was just happy that her boyfriend had finally become a full knight. Now he really could rescue the damsel in distress! Though she would always try to do it on her own first, but she was happy for him. He was so powerful now! She couldn't wait to catch up to him! She looked at him and said, "Let's go to the café to celebrate!" She said, and he agreed with her. They both powered down and started to head toward it, both finally happy, and Larissa with a little less guilt on her mind.

Basic Solos #7 & 8: 1077 words
Cynthia was nervous and excited at the same time. Jason was about to come over and meet her family for the first time! Oh yeah, and it was her birthday too. But that hadn't quite mattered as much as having her boyfriend over to finally meet her parents and two older brothers. She was pretty sure that they would be okay with her dating, after all, the relationship wasn't anywhere near serious yet, but mostly she had just wanted them to meet because she didn't want to be hiding so much from her family. After all, she was already hiding her powered side from the rest of them, she didn't want to hide her non-powered side too! She had wanted to invite a few friends over, and Jason wouldn't be the only one her age or of her friends that would be coming over, but he was the most important. She just hoped that her brothers didn't tease him too much.
They would accept him, and luckily they weren't the sexist type that would be threatening Jason with a beating if he made her cry, but they would be trying to make the both of them as uncomfortable as possible, just because they could. Her parents would be fine with it too as long as school was still the priority, which of course it was. After all, she was dating someone going to Azure Valley Academy, even if he was graduating this year to go to DCU where his brother was going to go into their medical program. If he was going to Azure, then clearly studies were very important to the both of them, her parents didn't have anything to worry about.
She shuffled about the house for a bit, too excited to sit still. It was going to be a simple birthday party with her family and some of her friends, with lunch and cake and maybe a movie during it if they could decide on anything. As she had gotten older, Cynthia hadn't really cared for any over-the-top parties like some of her classmates. though she considered herself if she even got $50 for her birthday lucky. But that's because she didn't expect much and anything that she may have wanted, like a car or specific model of cell phone, she was fully expecting to have to work for herself. Just being able to enjoy cake on a day that she normally wouldn't was good enough for her! Along with some pizza and other junk food, and whatever her grandma wanted to make and bring over. The old woman had declared that she was going to make her granddaughter the best birthday lunch ever, but Cynthia's father had to calm the old woman down, saying that they would be happy with just one thing. As much as Cynthia would have loved a full spread by her grandma, the woman was getting on in years, and wasn't able to do as much as she used to. They didn't want her to go and break her hip trying to make everything. Today was a day to relax and talk to family!
As Cynthia looked over the food again, the doorbell rang and before her mother could offer to get it, Cynthia was already sprinting towards it, yelling out "I got it!" Before opening it. Standing outside was her grandparents! Both sets of them! And she squealed a bit as she hugged them and ushered them inside. They happily obliged, though her paternal grandmother taking a bit more time with her walker, but eventually they were all settled in, and having pleasant chats with everyone.
Cynthia's two older brothers had come in from being out to get more food and other last-minute ingredients before going to her and hugging her and congratulating it on making it to 17, while her father made a snarky remark about how her two brothers had tried their hardest not to.
Soon enough the time had come for guests to start arriving, and just before it had hit 1PM the doorbell went off, and before Cynthia could get it, one of her brothers did, and opened the door to her boyfriend, standing there awkwardly, before he said he was there for the party. Cynthia's brother let him in, and gave her a knowing smirk, and she glared at him in return. Cynthia could tell that Jason was nervous, but that was probably from being the first of her friends to arrive, though it could be because it was only him and everyone else was her family. Before he could totally turn into a tomato, Cynthia quickly introduced him as her boyfriend, wanting to just get the information out there as soon as possible, rather than worrying the whole party about how to say it and having to wait until everyone else left. At least she was getting it over with now and her friends, who already knew about them, hadn't arrived yet.
The rest of her family greeted him warmly, while Cynthia's other brother made a comment about how Cynthia could ever possibly get a boyfriend, and she fake-punched him in the side of the arm. Soon enough however, the rest of her friends had arrived, and they were all enjoying the Louisiana themed food that her parents and grandparents had helped to make. Though she had laughed at Jason sometimes, as he did show he was certainly from California and had tried everything that he could before he could be told how spicy they were. Luckily there was plenty of bread and milk on-hand so that his mouth wouldn't be burning for the rest of the night. The party had continued on for quite some time, and she and Jason had gotten a moment alone for him to give her his present, which was the other key to an apartment that he was apparently moving into for college, so that she could drop by at any point.
It wasn't anything serious, and in no way did he expect her to move in with him soon, but it was in case she wanted to pop by any time, now that he wouldn't have to be following dorm rules or having to stay at his brother's place.
Soon enough though, everyone but her family had left, and she could only be grateful with how much they cared about her, and glad that they weren't mixed up in the same business that she was.

Super Solo #1: 1030 words
Cynthia continued to pull Jason towards a more secluded place in the park, wanting to show him the “surprise” that she had been so eagerly awaiting to present to him. Ever since she had finally upgraded she had been wanting to show Jason her new outfit badly but hadn’t yet gotten the chance. He had been preparing to move into the dorms at DCU and had taken a summer class too, which had left him too tired to really do anything powered-wise in the summer. That and the fact that his outfit really didn’t lend itself to being heat-friendly.Jason let himself be dragged behind though he did try to keep up by jogging a bit. “Uh Cynthia, as much as I want to see… whatever it is, are we almost where we need to go?” He said as he tripped once again, having a hard time finding his footing as they continued through the park.“Just a bit more. I just want to get to a more secluded spot so that we will be less likely to be spotted. And if you must know it’s not anything to do with sexy times, so don’t even think it.” She replied, turning her head and giving him a grin.Jason just sighed. He hadn’t really expected any sexy times in the park, nor would he have wanted any, but he knew that Cynthia was just messing with him. Most likely she had finally upgraded to a Super senshi and she wanted to show him. After all, he had wanted to show her when he had upgraded into a full-fledged knight. It still bothered him a bit however, since he truly didn’t feel as though he fit into the knight role yet. He hadn’t mentored anyone. All of the other Polaris knights seemed to know what they were doing more than he did. It was one of the reasons he had barely powered up that summer. After having that talk with Beringia, he hadn’t felt the will to do it, unless it meant going to his Wonder for a break from the heat.Cynthia started to slow down when she finally got close to the secluded clearing that she thought would be an okay place to power up. If not, well then they were a knight and a super senshi, they could take just about anyone on at this point! Jason faithfully followed behind, though he didn’t really have a choice since his hand was still behind held, but finally once they were both in the middle of the clearing, Cynthia dropped his hand and turned around. “All right, I think this is the place. How about you power up first, and then I can!” She said. Jason just shrugged, before doing what he needed to do and powering up as Alphubel. He immediately felt the heat wash over him and he was a bit hot, wishing that he could go to his Wonder now, if only to plant his face into the snow for a bit. Though he knew that he would never overheat in the outfit because of the magic, it didn’t keep him that cool either.Cynthia watched as he powered up and still couldn’t help but admire him for a bit. However, it was her turn now and she knew that Alphubel was looking at her expectedly. “All right, here we go. Larissa Moon Power, Make-up!” And she felt the familiar transformation occurring. Sometimes she wondered if they could tape it, just so someone who was powered could see what they looked like. Soon enough though, Super Sailor Larissa was standing there and she put her hands on her hips and smirked. “Well, what do you think?” She asked him. Though if there was anything that he thought would need to be changed well, there just wasn’t a way to do that. They were both stuck with their outfits whether they liked it or not.Alphubel grinned at her. “I love it! Though it’s not like we get to pick it out or anything, but I hope you’re happy with it.” He knew of some outfits of others that they just couldn’t stand or were embarrassed by, and hopefully when they upgraded they would get an outfit they liked better.Larissa grinned. “Thanks! Though I know there isn’t a whole lot different. I got some gloves, and another layer to the skirt… new hairstyle. The sleeves changed a bit. And I think that’s all of it. But hey, I’m a ‘super’ senshi now! I’m so happy about it!” She said, pumping her fist into the air. “Or at least I feel as though I can take a lot more on.” She really felt as though she could punch something now. Most of the time when she had ‘battled’ before, it was trapping them and then running. Not really much ‘fighting’ so to speak.Alphubel nodded. “That’s how I felt when I became a squire, or at least I finally got some magic at that point. It’s a little hard on pages because they don’t have any magic so if they don’t know how to fight, well, they’re stuck without any help unless they get assistance from someone else.” He honestly couldn’t remember how he had made it to squire, but at least he had. “Grats though! I knew you could do it! And I’m sure eternal is just around the corner for you.” He wondered what she would look like as that. He blushed knowing that she would look a lot more beautiful most likely.Larissa giggled a bit. “Well that’s good to know. Sorry that you had such a hard time as a page, but you’re a knight now! You should be so proud! And I know that I feel a lot better with this upgrade, I’m sure you do too!” She punched his shoulder lightly, making sure it wasn’t too hard, though she knew her strength wasn’t as good as a knights. However, a serious look soon came over her face. “Alph… there was… one thing I wanted to ask of you, as a powered person.” Alphubel raised an eyebrow, and wondered what it could be…

Cynthia jammed the pencil eraser-first into the desk a few times, less tapping and more trying to destroy it. High school had finally started and she was in her senior year. She wasn’t too happy since Jason was now attending college as a Freshman, but they hadn’t gone to the same school anyway. It was just a bit… intimidating? She hadn’t really known. She just knew she hadn’t talked to him in a while and it was starting to bother her. But that was the problem wasn’t it?
She had spent most of the summer either doing things herself or going off to visit other celestial objects or wonders just to get a feel for them and perhaps be ready to go to her own moon at some point. Something she had noted down to do in the near future, perhaps around Labor Day when she would have that 3-day weekend.
Her laziness problems with her boyfriend would have to wait though, since what was annoying her the most right now was the paper in front of her. Apparently, her school made it so that every senior needed to fill out a “what I want to do” sheet for the future. She was annoyed at it. After all, what right did they have to know her business? She knew it was legal however and couldn’t do anything about it, but she could still be annoyed.
And she had a reason to be. It was only this summer that her idea of what she wanted to do changed and she wondered if she should still pursue it. Botany and maybe Biology. She wanted to get to know plants more so that she could possibly reintroduce some of Earth’s or find some unused seeds or something on her moon that could be used to repopulate it.
It was a bit intimidating because the only reason she wanted to go into those two was because of Larissa. But photography was really her passion and would server her better as a civilian. Or at least she hoped it would. She wanted to be a freelance photographer, but she wondered if she would be able to get enough clients.
But she also didn’t want to waste her time going to college and not be able to do anything with either option. She supposed however that she could use the photography as the main job and botany as a hobby.
Cynthia groaned and felt her head fall onto the desk in annoyance. Honestly did she even want to do this? What if her moon wasn’t like what the others she had seen? What if it didn’t need her help? What if… It was just too much! Sure, she was a senior in high school and almost eighteen, but that didn’t mean she was ready to be an adult yet! And brain studies agreed! Eight more years and she might have an idea of what to do, but right now she was at a total loss.
She sighed, moving away from her desk and picked up her phone, plopping onto her bed. She moved into her contacts list and selected a familiar one. “Hey! Jason… sorry for not phoning you earlier…”

Larissa made sure to double-check what she had in her fanny pack. First aid kit. Water bottle. Camera, though she wondered if that would work. Some other tiny things that could be used in case of an emergency, she felt as though she was ready to go.
It was now finally time for her to go and explore her moon. She had been pushing it to the side for the past year, scared to go and visit it since she had heard horror stories about others who had gone to their planet or star or moon or whatever and had come across less than savory things. Although Alphubel had told her not to worry about it and there wouldn’t be anything alive on the planet that could kill her, she had a whole moon to explore! Not just a Wonder! Though for all she knew, they might be the same size considering Polaris was a star and those were usually larger than any of the surrounding planets that they may contain.
But she knew it had to come eventually, and she was a nervous wreck thinking about it. Her hands felt sweaty and she was shaking, which really didn’t help in the cold weather but… she needed to go. She needed a place that she could be by herself to just… get away from everything. From what was happening to the planet, to what people were doing, as though everyone was taking a few hundred steps backwards on what had been achieved in the past decade.
It… hurt. And it had made her question herself on which side she should be on. Though if she thought of an answer, it was neither the Negaverse or the Order side. Order defended humans which was fine… but she couldn’t help but somewhat agree with the Negaverse that some destruction was necessary. Just not all of it.
Perhaps the Dark Mirror had the best idea, though she wasn’t sure what it was. If she saw one again, she would have to ask them what their deal was and what they were trying to accomplish.
She hated the fact that she felt like she was turning her back towards the Order and Alphubel with these thoughts but… was it really worth it at all?
Which is why she had felt now was the perfect time to go and explore her moon. At least to take her mind off of what had been bothering her for the past year or so. And there was no better time to do it. School was now officially out for Winter break, Alphubel was at his Wonder for some time, though he had promised to come back before Christmas, which meant that she had no excuses not to go now.
She looked at the sky of the roof that she was on, trying to identify her moon through her ipad app that she was currently using to see the night sky, and when she did finally find it, though it had taken about an hour and she had wondered if she just wouldn’t be able to see it unless she was on the other side of the sun, she took her phone out, and with one shaking finger, pressed the button to take her to her moon.

*continuation from super solo #3 Super Solo #5-7: 1,585 words
Larissa blinked. When had she closed her eyes? The images started to slowly become more focused in her eyesight and eventually she realized that she definitely wasn’t on Earth anymore. It was definitely warm, which was a nice change to the winter that was currently plaguing Destiny City. But there was very little light that she could see. At first, she thought that perhaps the moon might have just been out, but realized that she was in a very densely wooded area with a lot of… water? She took a look around. With every moment she stayed here, she realized that this was definitely different. It was as though she was in some sort of huge… well she wasn’t sure what to call it. Maybe she would learn about it in college, but maybe something like the bayou? She didn’t know, but she could tell that there was something on this moon. She thought she could see some structures in the distance, and when she looked toward the edge of the water, it looked as though there was a boat. She glanced around, wondering if something was going to jump out and attack her.
All there was, was silence. Even the water was still. She approached the boat, wondering if it was okay to get into. It had been thousands of years after all since anyone had stepped foot on this moon. She only hoped that the small boat would stay afloat. It was only big enough to fit 2-3 people inside of it, with a lantern at the front and a couple of paddles to move it.
She hesitated. She had never used a boat like this before and didn’t want to flip it over from inexperience. But…
She took another look around her. No, there was nowhere else to go. She would be going into a more wooded area otherwise with no lighting from what she could tell. If she followed the water to… well her right, she could see the reflection of light from the water, telling her that whatever she needed to see, it would have to be done by boat.
And so, she pushed it back, making sure it was no longer on the shore, and slowly climbed into it, only panicking for a moment when the boat lurched from side to side as she got in. Once she was settled in the boat and it had stopped moving from side to side, she relaxed a bit more. She made sure to look inside of it in case there were any leaks or holes or anything that could become either of those two, and when she was confident that the boat was completely fine, only then did she take the oars and start to move them.
She had to experiment a bit, as she couldn’t tell which direction to paddle them in to move forward, and how to change direction, but after about ten minutes or so, she was confident enough to start moving in the direction of the light.
It was still so eerily quiet though. The silence was only interrupted when she used the paddles to move the boat around, but still, she could really tell that there was just… no life. Well, no animal life at least. There were plenty of plants around. Trees that were growing out of the water, and they were huge. She would have thought they were like the redwoods in California if there hadn’t been so much water around and if they weren’t so curvy. Still though, it was obvious that this moon was densely covered in forest and that the sky was blocked by the huge canopy of leaves. When she got past the bend of the river, she almost gasped at what she saw. It was as though everything was bathed in a glow but… there were buildings! Buildings on top of the water! And in the trees! Clearly whatever species had lived here had easily adapted to their surroundings and had made their home in the trees and on the huge leaves in the water. It was as though, instead of trying to shape the trees to accommodate their structures, they instead used the natural shape of the trees to create them. She could tell that there were some trees that had been hollowed out and used. But there were also other structures on giant lily pads in the water. And everything, almost everything was covered in water lilies. Not the plant, though there were some, but just that the water lily seemed to be the symbol of whatever species had lived here before, since many of the designs carved on their structures had the water lily in it somewhere.
She wanted to go and look inside of every building, wondering what she would find there, but managed to stop herself. After all, if she just jumped out of the boat, most likely it would either flip over and sink, or it would just be stuck in the middle of the water where, when she returned, she would be unable to reach it without causing the boat to sink by jumping in it. Instead she looked around to see if there were any places that she could dock the boat and tie it up and found a place on one of the nearby lily pads with a few other boats as well.
She tied up the boat in what she thought was a pretty secure knot. At least she wouldn’t be battling ocean-force winds, most likely, but she would probably have to go and ask if there was someone who could teach her how to tie a proper knot with a rope. As she took another look around before she tried to go into any of the structures, she was hit with a mixed feeling of sadness and fear. She knew that the Negaverse had almost wiped out all life long ago, but all of these structures looked as though all of those that were using it had just… disappeared. As though they had suddenly poofed into non-existence.
Something… something had happened here, and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to find out. Only that she had to.
She walked up to the entrance of the first building, the one that she had docked her boat next to one of the giant lily pads. There was no door, only what looked to be a heavy flap to cover the entrance. Doors didn’t look like they were needed in such a place anyway. The air, while quite humid, wasn’t too hard to move around in and doors would have only warped under such conditions. The building that she was about to go into was made of a combination of wood and leaves but seemed to be holding up quite well. Perhaps the moisture in the air kept the leaves from becoming too dry and brittle so they wouldn’t break as easily? Either way though, she only hoped that the building wouldn’t collapse on top of her when she went inside of it.
She moved the tarp to the side and could barely make out what was inside of the building. Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be too many windows on the water structures, so there was only a little bit of light streaming into it. What she could tell was there though seemed to be books on top of a table. She moved over to it, bumping her knee into something along the way, and took a look at the open page.
It contained a language that she couldn’t understand. Her sadness increased while realizing it. She had been warned that she wouldn’t be able to read anything that the old moon would have had but to see it right in front of her… the sadness she felt was overwhelming. Surely there was something that could be done? She made a face as she thought about it. It wasn’t fair. They had the Rosetta stone for ancient Greek and ancient Egyptian. Why couldn’t they have something like that for some of their homeworlds or Wonders?
She knew, there had to be some way. And she would find that way, or at least help to find that way if she wasn’t the one to do so. It made her feel a bit better, and she found she could concentrate on the book again. She flipped through it a bit, realizing that the book was not made from ordinary paper. Nothing could be gained from it though. There were only squiggles. When she looked at the first page though, there was a boat. Perhaps it was some sort of log? It probably belonged to the proprietor of the building, perhaps some docking log station for deliveries, which would make sense. But as of now, there was nothing else that she could find in the building.
She went back through the entrance and looked around to see where she should go next. There was a large tree, one with many windows that looked promising for… something. Perhaps they made more of a living there? She didn’t believe that she was in the main settlement of the moon. It looked more like a small village, so she wondered if she would even learn enough about her moon to figure out what went on. And so, she headed up the steps to the tree, both excited and dreading what she may find in there. Hopefully it wouldn’t be a large mound of bones or something.
