Jax had to admit that Sauti lost some appeal when she said it didn't have much for trees. Where did the people live then? In the ground? Granted his mother wasn't the type to live in a tree, or his brother for that matter, but he wanted a nice hut secured in the tree tops. When she asked what he was doing out and about he chuckled. "Naw, yous is the first. Couldn't help meself." He reached one hand up to the back of his head and rubbed awkwardly. "Sorrys 'bout that." Lowering his hand back down to his side he shrugged yet again. "Really I's was just bored sittin' at home. The mercenaries get borin' once yous has heard all the stories an' such already."

Faamy felt a coy smile rising. So, she was a special case, eh? If only he were a few years older... She wasn't going to be that woman creeping on a teen though! Thankfully, Jax's comment had her interest piqued. "Mercenaries?" she gasped. "Yeh mean ye're livin' with a buncha mercenaries? That what yer da is?" Unless the mother was a dancer and a mercenary, which was entirely possible.

"Huh? Ohs yeah. My Da took over a group of bandits and turned them intos mercs instead." He had pride in his voice as he said it. He had heard the story many times by now. It had been a favorite when he was a kid. "My moms isn't though. She's justa dancer buts she brings in good coin." Plus he noticed that she was the motherly one of the group. She sewed clothes when they needed it and tended to wounds if one of their own came home injured. The woman couldn't cook but she could help prepare the meals to cut down on time. "We's has a place not too fars from 'ere." His thumb was thrown over his shoulder to point back in the direction that he'd come from. It wasn't like someone could just happen upon it though. The location was situated just right between a grove of trees that it was easy to pass by and not even know it.

Bandits reformed into mercenaries... Faamy couldn't help a smile. That da of Jax's must be some guy. If it was a place able to raise this decent fellow, they couldn't be too bad, right? "And what's yer ma's name? I'll have ta keep an eye out fer a pretty fire gal, see if she can connect me with a bitta them coins~"

Jax laughed a little as the woman said that she hoped his mother would be able to connect her with coin. "Her name is Kalliope." Giving a little smirk he pointed at the instrument that Faamy had with her. "If yous any good with that then she might let ya stay with us for a while." An idea that didn't seem so bad to him. That just meant that he would get to look at the light colored woman more. "Mind lettin me hears you play?" He had no coin to hand over but he thought the information was worth it at least.

"Kalliope? That's a mighty lovely name." Sounded quite like a dancer's name to Faamy! She looked at her instrument as it was gestured to and grinned brightly. "I'd say I'm pretty darned good," she mused lightheartedly. While not one to gloat, she wasn't one to underrate her skills either.
"Why sure, darlin'!" she purred, giving the strings a few plucks. She chose something fast and upbeat; something that would hopefully stick in the boys mind to impress a little so he would tell his mother good things~

When she started to play he grinned. The upbeat song was enough to make him tap his foot along and soon enough he was nodding his head in approval. He'd gone along with his mother to a few taverns while she danced, if only to make sure her Keldari didn't go slithering on stage and scaring the musicians, so he knew a good tune when he heard one. "I like it. Moms should be able to dance to that easy." Jax crossed his arms over his chest then and leaned back on his heels. Since he had just remembered his mother's poisonous beast he dropped his gaze down to the thing that Faamy had with her. "Ah.. me moms got a Keldari so.. how goods that thing about stayin put?" Would be all bad if the two beasts clashed. His mom might be afraid of snakes but Lissa was HER snake.

With Jax's approval, Faamy gave him a half bow from her seated position. Maybe it would be okay to linger just a bit longer and get some time in with this mercenary mama..
Brow cocking, she looked down where Fermata was crouched. "Keldari, ya say? Them's those slithery things, right? This is Fermata, a perzi. He don't leave my side much, an' is a picky eater. I doubt he'd go after a keldari. He's never met one though, so don't know fer sure." She peered back at Jax. "Yer keldari gonna hassle Fermy if he's 'round?"

He knew what a perzi was but didn't say anything. Instead he looked at the beast for a hard moment before he shook his head. "Nah, I don't think Lissa will pay him much mind really. She tends to stay close to my moms." Jax offered a shrug. "Pretta sure the thing is spelled by the way moms dances." It would certainly explain how his mother, who is afraid of snakes, ended up with one as a familiar. "So if Fermy there leaves my moms alone then Lissa should ignore 'em." At least, he thought so anyways. The thing didn't seem to go after Shen when he was around but Shen also belonged to his dad so.. Who knew.

"Ah, no worries, there. 'less yer ma tries feedin' 'im, Fermy won't go near her." She gave the perzi a light pat, though his squinted eyes remained glaring at the boy. "So, what else ya think yer ma is lookin' fer in havin' another performer 'round? I play, but also dance a little an' sing. Can also serve an' such if the help is needed."

Well he couldn't exactly guarantee that his mother wouldn't try to feed the Perzi. After all it was a beast from her homeland. Though he could just tell him mother not to go near it. Maybe say something like.. "it bites." When the woman asked what else his mother might look for in a performer he chuckled. "Ah, well as a performer playin, singin and dancin is plenty good. If yous is wantin to serve then we might could use ya at the camp. Lots o' mouths an all." He didn't see his mother making Faamy serve when they were out performing. After all that wasn't their job then. However, if Faamy were to stay with them for a while in the camp then she might be asked to pitch in. Heck, his mother did the sewing so that everyone had decent clothes.

Faamy chuckled lightly. "Well, if performin's all ya need, I don't mind stickin' ta just that. Just know if the need comes up, I can do it." Setting the oud to the side, the windling leaned forward with a smile. "Now, the big question. What're the chances o' me seein' this ma o' yers anytime soon?" The sooner she could get a foot in the door, the better off she would be.

When the woman leaned forward and said what the big question was he laughed. "Aw, that's easy. I can take yous home." Jax couldn't help the wink that came along with his words. It was easy to flirt with this one. "Round this time moms is gettin dolled up." His red eyes went toward the sky to judge the light. He had gotten good at that recently since it told him when his mother was coming and going, which also meant he had certain freedoms. "She performs every night at a local Inn." His shoulders shrugged as he looked back at Faamy.

Another laugh of delight sounded from Faamy after Jax's wink. This young man was an absolute treat! For someone who had never seen a Sautian before, he sure was comfortable enough with being bold around her.
"Well, how about yeh show me where that there inn is? Then I can meet yer ma an' see if she has a place fer me ta stay a while." Besides, it would be good to see what kind of dancer this Kalliope was.

Hearing her laugh made him smile. Something about this one was making him a little more bold than he normally would have been. He blamed it on her eyes. When Faamy mentioned being taken to the Inn he nodded. "Sure, need help carryin anythin?" Jax was willing to help out so long as he didn't have to carry the Perzi. Nothing against the beast but.. he didn't think that would go over too well.
