Takeda's eyes briefly widened at the sight of the oddly colored oak, though his mouth wasn't agape. Its transformation before his eyes brought back thoughts from the land of water. He spent many of his early years there, and nowhere else in the world was quite as strange. I really shouldn't make any assumptions until I see the Sero, but I'm almost positive that this is where I think it is. I'd compare it to a Konoha from long ago, but there's no way it could reach this kind of environment again without a lot of manmade help. Takeda's natural longevity led to him exploring the world for quite some time, expanding his horizons and growing as a person - even though he did so alone. He was there for the true birth of lava in the fire country, the hysterics of the world as its youth was stolen. The fall of civilizations and the rise of new technologies. While he couldn't say he had dealt with tree people before, he did deal with odd tree-like clones of one of the former Mizukage's.

As the being unfurled out of the ball of wood, it looked to be as masculine as he could imagine a possibly male tree could look like. The color of its green bark was odd with the addition of obsidian, white and gold. Not to mention whatever it was adorning the top of its branch-like horns. It was worth knowing that it didn't speak from its own lips, instead seeming to use the fire-winged birds for speaking. It welcomed them, naming them wakeners, and Axel's frantic outburst led to the creature explaining that the last human before...whatever happened named them that. Thrones of earth came rising from the ground, and Takeda didn't hesitate in sitting there, raising a leg to cross over the other while it seemed like the others decided to stand. It ended up giving the directions to a location where a few humans decided to anger a guardian or relic of some sort, and Axel took off in the direction that the birds ended up going.

Once the white-haired boy was out of earshot, Takeda opened his mouth to speak. "If your appearance got him that flustered, he's probably going to die out there. Even propped up on the Sero in a fairly secured civilization, the mist village had its fair share of casualties. Assuming this is the water country...or was, I imagine it's a lot less forgiving now." The former jiongu placed his right elbow on the armrest, resting his head against his hand, palm to cheek while he looked on, seemingly in thought. "Can you tell me about any threats between here and that metal statue you mentioned? Or any information that may help appease that guardian? It wouldn't sit right if the first humans I end up meeting or hearing about end up dead so soon after 'waking up.' I'll likely help regardless, but anything that helps me prevent becoming another person needing saving would be appreciated."

He shifted the position of his head and hand so that his palm rested a bit higher up and he was able to make eye contact with the strange tree construct. "I'm Takeda, by the way. If this all works out, you might have some company soon. With that said, is there a name or title you prefer to be called?"

_______________The Narrator Whispers... ||

tab The great spirit of the forest dipped its head slowly in thanks to you before turning his head to look towards the bird on his chair, his expression concerned. From the bird's mouth, as before, the voice issued forth with a deep resonance. "I have no name, though I suppose the breed of old one I am from should suffice. I am Iron Oak, then, if the name pleases you, for names matter not to me and mine otherwise." With that he gestures to you with his head, an acknowledgment of the words and thoughts you have expressed. He thought, considered, and at last sat forward with palms pressed against the arms of his chair. "The guardian is a generator of species in the temporary. It takes what it can, whether skin, hair, or blood, and from it grows new life mixed with what it views is the next best choice. It seeks to make a new form for its spirit to take over, and while killing it physically will hamper it for a time, it will return until its spirit is destroyed in its home plane. I believe it seeks something of the one that created it."
tab Gesturing with one hand, he continues on. "You are correct, however. This was once Kirigakure, the village of humans who walked upon the waves and lived upon the mighty Sero. The creatures that live here are dangerous, and plenty, but there are those who have sentience that might treat with you as equal. Whether you will fight, or speak, with them is entirely up to you. Again, that said, the danger lies more in reaching the other Wakeners. A guide can take you, and you will be safe until arrival. But if the guardian is awoken...than you may find yourself in danger. Do not fight it, young Takeda. Retreat, and return when stronger to end it once and for all."

Takeda sat, looking not quite at the iron oak but rather through it as he sorted through his thoughts. A generator of species that has the potential of mixing and mutating human DNA to create something it considers to be better. If it does so in mass production, I can see why it needs to be destroyed. Shame I'm no longer as strong as I was. He wasn't surprised to hear that he was correct in his assumption that the area was once Kirigakure. On the other hand, it did give him a devious satisfaction to know that Heserik's great village went to s**t in the end. The Iron Oak's final words caused a smirk to tug at the boy's lips. "It's only been a few hundred years since I was called young. It all seems so surreal that my body ended up back in this state." He said before pressing his hands against the arms of the chair and lifting himself up. While he normally would've taken off there and then, he had a ton of gear that he needed to set up first. It was a bit of an annoyance to be so careful, but it was undoubtedly a necessity.

"I'll be careful. Only one of my hearts is left beating and I'm not taking that for granted. I'll be getting my gear in order and then I'll go." With that said, he walked away from the Iron Oak and Sonyo to a more open area in the forest, grabbing what was obviously a pop-up tent from his bag and pulling the strap while extending his arm, letting the structure unfurl while he set it onto the ground. It was quite large and could easily fit around four people and then some when it came to space. While he didn't think that he needed that much, it'd serve well in terms of storage. He'd need a crafting station if he intended to survive after all. Walking into the tent and closing it behind him, he started off things with a change of clothes, taking off his armor and then the rest that was underneath. The weather wasn't bad, so he didn't need the winter jacket and doublet at the moment. Instead, he opted for the collared shirt and long, black coat. He wore jeans that came with holsters that allowed for plentiful mobile storage. Takeda kept the sleeves of his coat up to near his elbows so that he could still wear his steel gauntlets. He kept the same boots on since the plate attachments they came with were vital to his style of combat. He brought everything in the satchel on his left hip, his skinning knife, waterskin, sword, and shield. Everything else was left in his tent and he didn't waste any time on heading down the path made by Iron Oak's blazing bird.

Reaching out, trying to rest her head on the blonde child in front of her. Shame filled her, a knawing feeling in her chest, like a monster trying to get out. The child flinched from her, looking up at her, blue eyes filled with disappointment and a tint of fear.

She messed up, she messed up bad.

He hated her now, like before, like all the times she messed up. But she had done more damage than she could fix this time.

The young boy's angry voice was silent over the roaring of her heart in her eyes, that feeling sunk in her. She was going to lose everything all over again.

                                                "Taylor-"

Sonyo jumped awake, sitting up quickly, gasping, her eyes wildly looking around the area. That's right, she wasn't back there, she was in this new and strange place and she was.... alone. Takeda and the hunter were gone, Hakanai was still gone too.

The real question was when did she fall asleep? Why did she fall asleep? Was it her years of insomnia finally catching up with her? Was it the stress of everything happening...? Passing out this long wasn't like her. The young female drew her knees to her chest and hugged them close, as if taking that position could save her from anything.

'If only Nari was here...' She thought, looking down, batting away tears before they could form. Her thought process must have regressed too, back to when Nari was her safeguard... her hero, her rock. It had been many years since then...

_______________The Narrator Whispers... ||
tab "Be still, child, lest you harm thyself," came a deep, rumbling voice from your side as you wrestle with yourself. "You are safe here, for all is Pacified."
tab The earth rumbles, the sky weeps, and the winds howl within the confines of this voice. Ponderous creeks of trees whipped by spring storms echo as if from a distance unending reaches your ears as a little sparrow, the wings made of little twisting wind whisps, lands upon your knee. It cleans its feathers, seemingly unconcerned by your existence nor its precarious perch, preening instead before finally opening its beak as if to pick up something.
tab And that's when the voice returned, coming from the bird.
tab "Your companions have left with missions of their own, but they shall return. Till then, you are safe. Rest, if you so wish, or leave if you so desire. I cannot, and shall not, stop you if you wish so." From your left you hear the weighted thud of feet on earth, and if you look you would find the great spirit of the forest, Iron Oak, with his head of antlers with swirling colors dipped to the side in thought. He stands with arms crossed, and an expression of curiosity that is difficult to read with the gold and silver of its eyes. The creature dipped it head forward in greeting before the bird continued, seemingly unconcerned by the human voice that erupted from its beak. "Have you need for refreshment, young Wakener?"

Sonyo stared in awe at the bird, quiet; was this sort of thing any possible? Sonyo pushed the thought from her mind, realizing how ridiculous it was. If there was sentient moss in this world, why would this be any stranger? Clearing her throat, trying to wipe the bewildered look off her face, she gathered her thoughts to reply to the bird.

"W-Wakener... That's... fitting, actually. I don't need refreshments right now, but thank you. I greatly appreciate the offer. I haven't been 'awake' very long, but I can already guess kindnesses like that don't come around here very often." Slowly dragging her eyes from the bird, Sonyo looked up at the giant oak. It reminded her of the treants she read in Evergreen religious books, about the great guardians of nature. She wondered if this 'Great Oak' was anything like those Treants.

The bird had mentioned her Companions, which she was guessing meant Takeda and the hunter. They had gone off then? Takeda was always more brave then her... charging headlong in to danger. How did a brave soul like him and a coward like her become friends? They were such polar opposites in many ways... She took a deep breath, and looked back at the bird. "Back where I'm from, I was considered a Follower of Evergreen. I... I-I doubt that word means anything here. I feel at home in a place like this and I... is there any way I can stay? I know that that kind of trust doesn't come easy and... a-and I'm willing to work."

tab The tree sprite nodded its head sagely as the bird turned to preening itself aggressively, eyeballing Iron Oak the entire time. It didn't look pleased with the tree thing for some reason. Perhaps it didn't appreciate being a butt puppet? Finally Iron Oak spoke again through the bird in a voice rich with warmth and concern. "You may lay claim here, if that is your desire," he began, his expression changing from stony neutrality to a smile rich with pleasure. "Doing so, you may build here as you wish, to establish a home for other Wakeners. If you do, you will own this place as long as you have it marked." Holding out his hand, the sprite dipped its head in a sort of reverent bow and finished. "Place a token of utmost importance to you within my hand, whatever you deem as such. It will lay claim to this place, and will allow it to be protected from the wilds."

Sonyo's hand immediately flew up to the hawk feather adorning the pin in her hair-- her first gift from Nari. Even though he was gone, even though everything was gone, she still clung to it. Running her fingers along the smooth surface of the feather, she hesitated giving it to the bird. Was she ready to part with it? Ready to part with her old life, her life with Nari, a life with brightness and color and hope?

The corners of Sonyo's mouth drew downwards for a moment as she thought, and then pulled taut. She couldn't afford such sentimentality, not now. With a slow motion, she pulled the hawk feather from it's place and handed it to the bird.

"This... is the most important thing I still have with me. A gift from someone who once met more than anything in the world. I hope this suffices." Sonyo heard the tremble in her own voice, and she hated it. Nari brought out the same old tendencies as always; complacency, cowardice, a longing for a simple life that she could never have.

"So this 'claim', what does it mean exactly?" The young woman inquired, looking around at the clearing. "I'm sorry if that's annoying or offensive, to say I know little about this world is.. an understatement. In order to not step on any toes, or anger anyone, I'd like to know what I'm being granted, so I can respect the wishes of everyone who also calls this place home."

Whispers from beyond...

For how long he has slept in his crystal prison is unclear, but long enough that the forest had overgrown the glass like surface of it. Vines snaking across and thin layers of moss spreading along the bottom as it rested gently against the base of the massive tree. All of this would be shattered and remove in a crash, as the crystal broke apart. The sunlight that leaked through the trees brought with it a feeling of peace, or perhaps this was just in the forest itself.

It wouldn't take long for the new being to realize that the forest was still very much teeming with life, with things that looked like butterflies whipping through the air and movement beneath the surface of a nearby lake. In terms of any humans or humanoid folks however he was alone, for now.

[ Reza Shah al-Sakaar ]

The last sound I remember is also the first one I heard when I was reborn; the voice of a being not from this world, thundering across my mind; Sakaar, the maker of warriors, the crusher of kingdoms, the hand of pestilence, the God of Death. “Reza” Its voice boomed with the ferocity of a thousand beasts and the tenderness of a million mothers. My eyes snapped open, and as they did, I heard the second sound I could ever remember hearing: the sound of glass shattering. My brown hands suddenly slammed against the damp grass and the cool moist ground beneath it; slowly my hands balled up into a fist, my fingers dragged the earth and grass under them until they pressed onto the palm of my hands, leaving chasms in their wake. I swallowed hard as the dampness quickly made me feel hot, hot enough for me to feel droplets of water accumulating in my brow. My eyes shifted around the ground first. It was grass as far as my eyes could see, and then shards of glass, presumably the same grass I had heard shatter just a moment before. “Reza” I heard the voice call out once again, faintly this time, almost a murmur in the back of my mind, a distant memory lost to time that, for however briefly, sparked recognition, marked by the shock of an epiphany in my eyes, but quickly faded before my mind was able to piece it together. I took deep breath and shot my hand out, reaching for one of the crystals that was on the ground. It felt cool against my even hotter skin, it felt pleasant to the touch, but despite the temperature, it felt hard and jagged. It was welcoming, yet clearly dangerous.

With the crystal in hand, I pushed myself up from the ground and looked around me to get some semblance of where I was, but I could not make anything out other than some strange butterfly-like beings that I had never seen before, and the rays of sun that hit against my flesh that made the war that had always ravaged my heart and mind subside. Sakaar had no power here, I quickly judged. While death could still reach things in here, I wagered, it was not the same type of death that my Lord pursued. I could of course be wrong, but this was the only explanation I could think of as to why I was no longer connected to him as I once was. Filled with the dread of being severed from my savior, I took a step toward the lake, and then another, and another, until I found myself facing the crystalline pool of water, looking at my light brown-almost-yellow eyes and I just stood there, contemplating the peace that filled this place and how, for the good of Sakaar, it had to be destroyed.

Whispers from beyond...

The movement that had been in the lake seemed to halt as Reza approached, if he took notice of it at all in the first place. From its depths a body would rise, a mere ten feet away from the boy. It had the body that resembled something close to an alligator but was much larger, at least three times as much, and had rocky crystalline cropping across its body in various places. It also boasted three sets of eyes instead of just two. Whatever other strange features it might have had were lost to the water beneath it.

"It has been some time since your kind has come here. Are you alright young one?"

It's voice seemed to echo from nowhere in particular, a deep and old voice that resonated each word to the boy.

[ Reza Shah al-Sakaar ]

Ninjutsu l Oathkeeper l Thrall of Sakaar

I reached down to the water and splashed some in my face to ward off the heat. The sun had been hitting my face since I kneeled to see my reflection. I heard water rush, and the sun quickly faded. My eyes shot up and saw a figure come out of the water and tower over me, too close to me. It looked threatening, filled with scales and rock-like crystals, a crystalline armor if I had to guess, covering parts of its body. I had never seen a creature quite like this, but its most outlandish feature were its eyes, sporting an unnatural trio of them instead of the average duo. Whatever this thing was, it was not natural. Wherever this place was, it was not in the land of wind. My body recoiled as I heard the booming voice in my mind. “Oh Sakaar, empower my lightning and-“ I began my incantation, channeling my power to draw my lightning chakra and strike the creature before it had the opportunity to attack, but there was something wrong. More than one thing, actually. The first was that I could not physically finish my incantation; a force greater than myself prevented me from channeling the lightning and blasting it towards this chimeric apparition that dwelled in these ungodly waters. The second, and equally as frightening, was that despite the fact that I could feel the power of my chakra focusing inside of me before I was cut off, the power was not on par with my words. Whatever lightning would come from me would be underwhelming. That was when I realized the third thing that was wrong: I could not remember the name of the technique I wanted to channel. I could remember little of anything, actually.

My body jumped back, away from the water and from the reptilian chimera, if I could not attack it, it was safe to assume it could not attack me either, but if that was not the case, I would rather have an opportunity to run from it. Once the distance between us had doubled, I answered to the ancient voice that had spoken to me. “My kind?” I questioned, and quickly followed with a second, a third and finally a fourth inquiry: “How long has it been? Where exactly am I? Why can’t I channel any of my spells?” As for whether or not I was alright, the answer to that question was out of my hands, but for an entirely different reason than it would normally be. The extent of how alright I am rests in the hand of the creature that lay before me. After a moment of silence, I simply answered the question with the following: “Only you can tell me if I’m alright.”

Whispers from beyond...

If an alligator could look like it was thinking that would be what Reza saw for a moment. There wasn't any hostility coming from the thing, the beast seemed more calm then one could even think possible. It hadn't even budged at what he had tried to do.

"Since I've last seen your kind? Perhaps a millenia or so, hard to tell. We sprites don't care much for keeping track of time. You've been in that rock for quite some time though.

You are in the sprite sanctuary so you are at peace young one. No acts of violence can be committed here, if one attempts to break that rule by force they will find far worse issue then feeling calm.

So yes, for now you are alright. The world has changed drastically since your kind was dominant. Perhaps for the better, or the worse. It is far more dangerous outside of this forest for not all places have remained as peaceful as here"

The beast seemed rather happy to have the new face to talk to, the curiosity and excitement leaking into its deep rumbling voice. As the two did converse if Reza had keen eyes he would notice a few of the strange looking butterflies had stopped on nearby trees and peaked out at him, perhaps out of shyness not coming forward. He would at the very least be able to gather they to were not normal, showing off flickers of spark and fire like features to them as well.

[ Reza Shah al-Sakaar ]

Ninjutsu l Oathkeeper l Thrall of Sakaar

A millennia; the word echoed through my mind, I could feel it spinning around the trees around me, around the butterfly-creatures, and soon it wasn’t just the word that was spinning, it was the world itself. Wearily, I took a step back and realized I was not breathing from the shock. A large gasp of breath came out of my mouth as I exhaled and inhaled. Surely, a millennium since this thing had seen a human, not a millennia since there have been humans. “You mean a millennium since you have seen a man. You are a swamp dweller, men don’t frequent these parts…” I caught myself speaking as I processed the second part of that sentence. I had been in that rock for a long time. “F-for how long?” The question came with some hesitation. More than some, with great hesitation. “How did I end up in there? A jutsu for sure, who was I battling that imprisoned me in that rock. No, surely, this entire thing is an illusion, an elaborate illusion from the most skilled illusionists in the shinobi world. I’m locked in my mind somewhere, that is why I can’t hear Sakaar. This is some hellish nightmare world and I’m locked in my own mind, my body collapsed somewhere waiting for my assailants to strike. Unfortunately for them, I know how to break from these parlor tricks.” My mind was racing at a thousand miles a minute, a genjutsu, of course, how did I never think of this before, that was the only way a creature such as this would exist, not from the grace of nature, but from the twisted imagination of man. I quickly gathered my chakra at the core of my being and prepared to cast the technique that could break me from the spell. “With the power in me I, so call for the chains of this illusion be-“ I swallowed hard and looked in my mind for the word, the key word to ward off all illusion techniques but suddenly my mind stopped, drawn a blank, the word erased from my memory. Just like it had happened before. This can’t be happening. I could feel myself starting to panic.

There was more than one way to break out of a genjutsu, so my gears shifted, and I began a second incantation, laying my left hand bare and raising my right fist to the heavens. “Oh lord god of war sm-“ But once again, the words never came, my mind was a blank and my lightning-less fist slammed into my open arm causing no more than a mild pain that brought no release from this illusion. I knew I should be freaking out, losing my cool, trying my hardest to get out of this, and to be fair I was, but other than slamming one hand into the other, and my ramblings, outwardly everything would seem to an onlooker. “You have to help me.” I said suddenly as my eyes shifted toward the creature, paying no mind to the flying creatures. “I need to get out of here, I need to get back to my lord, I must carry out my mission. I must kill whoever put me in this illusion before they get to me.”
