"Aye, pretty much." Rep said. "They cause a lot of problems, both here and like, out there in civilianland. But you know that more than most people I imagine. I'm just sorry we couldn't like, do more to prevent it. I was there in the run up to it. We had like, a ******** mall outbreak during and ..it didn't go well. Contained but at no small ******** cost. All we can do is keep fighting though and one day we'll get it."
He didn't want to be too negative, aware that he had a tendency to depress people just by being around them and instead latched as best he could to the mention of Harrison.
"Hahah. Aye. Ace. His name is Harrison though." he clarrified, dragging out the r in almost a purr. "He looks good in ******** anything, which is good because the s**t he normally decides to wear people say is pretty bad." he shrugged, he'd never had issue with Harrison's horrendous tastes.
"That ******** moustache though." he said. "He just knows I can't grow one!"

October shrugged a shoulder. It wasn't as though anyone could have prevented or predicted what had happened back then; sometimes he still thought of it, thought of the yells and the screams and the dark eyes watching him...but he couldn't dwell on it. He couldn't think too much on it, or it would paralyze him.
"A mall outbreak," October repeated, musingly. "Well, maybe one day. Until then, we just get to fight zombies and stab things and run around. I like the stabbing and running around part if it means I can actually stab zombies, otherwise sleeping is better," he added wisely, with a sage nod as though this was very important information.
He felt the corners of his lips curve, just a little, in faint semblance of a smile that didn't quite fully form, because October rarely smiled. His expression went back to his usual calm, blank one almost immediately. "It was a very nice dress," he said. "You've got a beard, though. Or scruff. Beard scruff. Goatee? No mustache, though, I suppose. He was pretty cool, picking up those guys when they were trying to start a fight."

"Well if you ever want to go stab zombies together sometime, I usually ******** run into a bunch of them, so many cleanup missions."
He shook his head. "No as much of a fan of sleeping myself, my dreams are usually pretty ******** up."
"This is as much beard as I can muster." Rep said. "No very ******** impressive but there you go. And aye, he doesn't like people messing up the bar because it costs ******** money." He smirked. "Main reason. He's always having to deal with that Lawrence wanker, it's a pain in the arse."

October, ludicrously, brightened a little at the thought of stabbing zombies. "Really?" he asked. "That'd be cool. I like stabbing zombies; and I've got a sword for a weapon, so that makes the whole stabbing part easier, since I only had an umbrella at the apartments."
An umbrella he still had, actually. October's fingers drummed against his jawline. "Dreams are strange, sometimes," he said, eyes going slightly unfocused as his thoughts wandered around this particular thing. "I don't know what mine mean most of the time."
Like things that he didn't want to think about. October's gaze came back into focus, but there was something hard that flickered in his eyes.
"I don't like that Lawrence guy," he said, with the first real sense of intensity in his voice that was rarely seen. "He seems like a scumbag. Harrison and you both seem like good guys, though," he added, some of the hardness leaving his voice. "You guys been together long?"

Rep smirked. "Good. I can never get enough help stabbing zombies, things have quietened down a little bit of late but its always just a ******** matter of time for sure. I'll keep you in mind next time I need someone to drag on some ******** nightmare mission."
He did however seem to latch onto the other man's comment about Lawrence. "******** that guy." he said. "He's a ******** creep, the kind of ******** thing where if he was an animal the rest of the herd or pack would have ******** killed him off already. He keeps trying to be buddy buddy with Ace and hitting on him, it's ******** gross. I don't like him, if I had my way I'd ******** throw him right off a really high cliff." he snorted.
"And aye, we've been married a while now. Doesn't feel like long though, every day I'm just like, happy about it still, you know? I think we've known each other five years at this point, ******** crazy to think."

He sort of wished he could go now and stab things, but that seemed bad timing, all things considered. But it was nice to know that there would be a chance to go stab things - especially zombies - in the future, Tuesday brightening at this fact inside of his head.
The hardness flickered back into October's eyes, dark and intent. "He's been bothering November," he said, and it was uncharacteristically rough, almost a growl, low and irritable. "I saw him at the bar on Halloween, and I've seen what he's said on Twitter to him. I don't trust him at all."
November hadn't even talked to him about things, but he didn't have to; October, in spite of everything outwardly that spoke to the contrary, was relatively observant, after all. He glanced over at Rep, dark hair falling over his shoulders in straight waves.
"That's a long time," said October, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "I'm glad. Happiness is important in a place like this, and he seems like a pretty cool guy. Though anyone who can still manage to look intimidating as s**t in a pink dress and heels is pretty badass, I think."

Rep seemed grim at this. "He's a ******** creep. Keep an eye on November, like the incompetent annoying arsehole bullshit seems like its another front too, he ******** with peoples feelings for entertainment. Looks like he already does." He'd witnessed the nonsense on Halloween and hadn't been surprised, but it wasn't something that should be allowed to continue.
"I'd like to beat him within an inch of his ******** life, and I bet the administration would ******** let me do it too. Because he's got it coming." He clenched his hand.
"But aye Ace is one of the good things about here, he balances out the frustrating bullshit like the complete ******** psychos while being completely and utterly sane himself."

It was gratifying to know that his suspicions hadn't been entirely out of place, though this also made the situation worse as well. October's eyes flashed with an anger that seemed quite out of place for someone as laid back as he was, blue and dark.
"I'll keep that in mind," he said, and it was a true statement, not a flippant remark. He was going to keep all of it - including Rep's desire to smash his fist into Lawrence's face - in his mind for later, whenever he managed to get one over on that creep.
The contrast to all of this irritation was at least replaceable by the satisfaction and clear devotion in Rep's voice when talking about Harrison. "Do most people find partners here?" October asked curiously. "He seems pretty level headed, but most people on this place don't, really."

Rep shrugged his shoulders. "Most people here seem to be like...really ******** slutty honestly. They'll sleep with anyone. So sexual partners, aye. Life partners a lot ******** less. Most of the other long term couples are either dead, long broken up or completely ******** crazy. Whatever that says I don't know."
"I mostly got lucky. Really lucky. I'd be dead without him and Jordan honestly."

October knew all too well that November was one of those people that Rep was talking about, but he chose to refrain from mentioning this. "That's disappointing," he said, sounding woebegone over it. "I like happy endings to things."
He yawned widely, running a hand through his hair, flicking his gaze back to Rep.
"Are you with Jordan too? He's pretty cool."

'Very few happy endings here really. Unless its like in the ******** massage parlour sense of the term." he shrugged.
"And er. Aye. I am. It's complicated though. He and Ace eh..." he wiggled his fingers. "Complicated."

October, who was no stranger at all to varying types of relationships, hardly batted an eye at the idea that there was a third member of Rep's marriage. Instead, he said, "They don't get along, then?"
After a second, he remembered his manners and added, "Sorry. Curious. Not intending to pry. You seem like a good guy and so does Jordan, I don't know Harrison at all, though, but he seems cool too."

"There's a looong complicated ******** history." Rep said. "The three of us were almost married and then we noticed some things didn't work, some people didn't get along. s**t like that, it was tough, still is sometimes, but no one ever said relationships were easy I guess." He smirked.
"Jordan's amazing and Ace too, I definitely ended up with two of the best guys on the island, just swiping them both right off the ******** market." But his pride in them both was evident.

He couldn't say he didn't understand that. October was not the premiere expert in anything concerning relationships, but he'd seen enough of his parents' marriage to know how things could be - and often were. His fingers drummed a little on the tabletop, an idle gesture.
"It always amazes me how certain people end up together," said October vaguely. "How some seem to mesh and stay together and others seem to just..."
His first two fingers walked a line across the table. "...fall apart."

Rep shrugged. "I think it like. Comes down to communication. Like, its the ******** most important thing like. Say two people meet and they get along ok but they never communicate, it can take a really long time before they get to know each other and they maybe realise they didn't like each other much in the first place, or even ******** worse, the lack of communication like, means they just hate each other at the end."
"If you communicate good from the outset like, you figure s**t out quicker and then you can make it last for ever if you work at it and try and explain when things bother you. s**t like that. Least that's how I see it, I could be totally ******** wrong honestly."
Maybe he'd just been lucky, he didn't know.
