Saguenay moved his hand in an expansive gesture, both go ahead and acceptance in the broad motion. He grinned. "Be my guest," he answered. "You're being extra patient with me and sharing all of this info. Least I can do is make sure you're comfortable while doing it." With those words, he suddenly stood and rolled his shoulders. Locking his hands together behind his back, he pulled back while tipping forward slightly. The moment he felt a slight pop, he relaxed his posture and dropped his hands back down, shaking them out. He never liked sitting too long himself, never having picked up the habit of smoking or reflection. However, he did not begrudge the other man his relaxation or smoke. Saguenay sent another warm smile at Scholomance before he paced to stand near the edge of the roof. Still a few feet back, he could nonetheless look out over the city and down to the street below, thanks to his height. "So... I guess that leaves me with the real question of how often I'm supposed to do this kind of thing," he finally said. "And should I go alone or try and scare up patrol partners? Details, huh?"

"Oh, don't go alone. Alone is how you wind up going through the wood chipper." If nothing else, his appearance shaped him into an authority on the matter. Missing parts, whether explained or not, accumulated their own histories out of macabre interest. Those reputations swelled the longer they went unanswered, and he would eventually become an authority on more than just pain and loss. Scholomance still hoped for authority on large insertions, at least.
Saguenay seemed loose and limber enough for large insertions, anyway. But that was all for 'drunk' texting, far beyond the constraint of talking shop.
"Go alone at first if you haven't met anyone. Make a friend, then take a friend. Figure out times to buddy up and go looking for trouble. A lot of agents tend to work alone because they have the power to do so, but they're still scared off readily enough by that pesky power of numbers. Plus, if either of you happen to get into a pinch, the other one is present right then and there to call 911. Most of your troubles scare off at the first sign of the cops — the ones smart enough to know what cops are, at least." Youma never quite figured it out. "And if you haven't met any fancy knight friends, I can go with you. Consider it a favor," he added with an easy wink.
He paused for another drag, then moved on with the next question. "I wouldn't suggest going out with it too often. Maybe once a week, to start. It's a lot to take in, and plan around full time jobs or family obligations or the like. People have a habit of cramming their schedules so full of s**t that they're needed everywhere and run themselves too ragged to do anything about it, you know? At least, I've seen enough weary-eyed, exhausted senshi and knights to know they're damned good at their guilt complexes." Worthless art, that.
"So there you have it. Knighthood in a nutshell." That almost sounded catchy.

"Very succinct." Saguenay beamed at his new knight-friend, totally willing and ready to accept the offer. He did not consider it a favor so much as a kindness; favor implied a debt and he was never a fan of those. Besides he had already decided that he liked Scholomance in all his dry wit and sidelong glances. If the other knight needed help or company, he Saguenay would be up for it. "But guilt? Pfft." He made a slightly rude noise with his mouth, rolling his eyes. "I don't see the point in it. If you burn the candle at both ends, you're no good to anyone." That said... He could already anticipate how badly this new hobby could wear him out when combined with his regular day job. Hm, he might have to cut back on parties. Saguenay gave his head a slight shake, dismissing the thought. He would figure it out. "Anyway, now that we're on that same page and you totally just volunteered to the buddy system..." He smirked and his golden eyes laughed. "Do we set up a hot date or just run into each other or what?"

Scholomance readily batted his lashes at the other knight. "Hot dates are my specialty. Random repeat encounters, not so much. It's a terribly big city, you see, and I've almost never run into the same person twice. A couple uncanny encounters, but if your choice of patrol venues doesn't overlap with their choice of patrol venues, then… So much for that idea.
"I prefer being out and about with it on Sundays. It's the only day I don't work, and messing around with knighthood and work in the same day is asking for certain doom. Or an all-nighter. Same difference, really." As he got older, he found less and less energy available to burn through 24 hours, or 48, or any multiplicative therein. Lacking any illicit substances to fuel such an escapade factored in as well, he supposed, but his age number wasn't getting any smaller, to his chagrin. And the rest of Destiny City seemed adamant on making him feel older with all the injuries sustained. Really, it was a wonder that the city didn't have a whole class of twenty-somethings that counted for invalids. Or war veterans to an unrecognized affair.
"Soooo…" Scholomance drew out the monosyllable while he ferreted around in subspace for his cell phone. Carefully he balanced it on his lap, tapped out his pin, and opened the calendar. "I have not next Sunday, but the Sunday afterward free. And probably some later Sundays but I've always been s**t at adding to this app." Something something don't patrol with your exes something something don't wander around alone. "If that day works for you, we can call it a date. Meet here, go where we want?
"I put out on the first date, by the way. Small perks." He grinned broadly.shortgreen sorry sorry, company over this week so super slow

"Whoa, there." Saguenay leveled a serious look upon Scholomance, his mouth a straight and uncompromising line. "Don't go underestimating yourself." A couple beats passed and he suddenly cracked a laughing grin. Sitting back as it devolved into a snicker, he waved a hand at the other man. "Sorry. The size joke was too much to pass up," he explained. Then he lifted one shoulder and smiled crookedly. "I should probably warn you that my filter's kinda busted. Especially if you get me comfortable... Or drunk." He considered things for a second. "Though drunk on patrol is a big no-go," he added. "So I'll show up here, sober as a judge, two Sundays from now. What time?" Strickenized So so so sorry for the delay. It's been a heck of a month.

Scholomance's usual easy grin fell when Saguenay stopped him, entirely serious. In those few seconds, he wondered if he was about to get a lecture on how he was too loose with himself, how he obviously suffered from low self-esteem, or any number of issues that fit neatly under a psychological header. He knew very little about Saguenay's civilian life, of course — the man could be a working psychiatrist — but he hadn't expected anyone to take up that chummy banner of pro-self anytime soon.
Until Saguenay thankfully broke the façade. Scholomance, too, cracked a grin. "Well played." Most people cringed and tried to move the conversation back toward more serious matters. That he found someone of similar irreverence to himself spelled a conspicuous disaster for something so integral as patrolling. But what was life without a few adventures like that?
"Okay okay, no booze, but you'd best bring the conversation. Better to not be all uncoordinated for any surprise fights, anyhow. My magic doesn't exactly keep people on point… It's probably worse when you're drunk." It's probably like a bad trip, he supposed. Shitty spiked LSD spotted off the biker guy that only ever rolls through town once a year. And, of course, it was bought at a shitty bar. One of those dives with video poker machines all scattered about the back. That same kind of bar that encourages smoking, not talking to people, and staring at one of those awful noise-machines for the better part of three hours. Not that he had that experience before or anything.
Scholomance stood, stretched, and cracked a few joints with a satisfied sigh. "Oh, something like eight PM is best. Usually more racket comes about at night. Easier to hide the youma you get hanging about. Sound good?"shortgreen all good <3 i had a busy april too
