It occurred to Lauri that he probably should have started from the top down with his inspection about the time that Yuuri clasped his hands over his lap and closed his eyes. There was just something...a bit charged about his position between Yuuri's knees, touching his legs like that, even if he meant for it to be a fairly clinical examination for damage.

And still, he'd pressed on. Because he'd started them down this road and he would finish it so that Yuuri wouldn't think he was some sort of weird pervert. It wasn't as though he didn't notice the blushing, the rapidity of Yuuri's pulse, or the way his packmate tensed up - he wasn't an idiot. He was just trying to not make a thing out of it since Yuuri had been so shy and timid and though Lauri had no objections in theory to bedding Yuuri, the present time would have been more than slightly inappropriate.

Thin. Yuuri was thin. His bones prominent under translucent skin, veins clear paths easily followed, save where Yuuri's skin had been damaged by his fight. Lauri shook his head a bit, whomever 'Kamacite's' opponent had been, he'd been effective. "I'll get you some ice for that, some aspirin." He's talking fast. Embarrassed - because he's nude? Or is it because he's so thin? Or because his body responded to being touched? Maybe all these things, maybe something else.

"I don't think anything is broken." But since he'd said his face hurt, Lauri put both hands out to explore Yuuri's face with the same care he'd used elsewhere, prodding lightly and watching for a pain response. It was pretty clear he'd have a black eye on the left side, so the Finn didn't press much there, instead just turning his head this way and that; the bite mark deepened his frown and drew another sigh. "You'll have a black eye, some nasty bruising. But I think you'll mostly be okay. You should rest at least a day, if possible."

He let his hands drop from Yuuri's face to his waist, reaching around him for the towel and pulling it back up around his shoulders - he was probably cold, after all; once terrycloth was once more settled around thin shoulders, Lauri straightened and cleared his throat.

"Will you be fine while I get ice?"

”Thank you,” he mumbled when Lauri said he’d get some ice and aspirin for him, easing just a bit when it seemed as though Lauri had finished his examination. And it was good to hear that nothing appeared to be broken.

Yuuri’s eyes opened once more as Lauri took his face in his hands, and he was sure that he would burn Lauri’s fingers with how hot his cheeks were. It made him dizzy. And he felt like crying. And he wanted to curl up against his boyfriend and just pretend everything was okay.

But what was he going to say to Adrien when he saw him? He couldn’t possibly show up at his apartment looking like he did. Adrien would have a heart attack, surely. Maybe he would ask Lauri if he could stay the night there. Maybe he had an extra room. Or the couch.

Or a small corner where he would be out of the way. Out of sight. Not bothering anyone.

He lifted a hand to grip at the towel placed back around his shoulders, holding it closed, head bowed in shame that Lauri had to see him like this in the first place. His heart wouldn’t calm. Even though he wasn’t as panicked as before, his heart felt like it was aching with how hard it beat in his chest.

“I’ll be fine,” he promised and waited until Lauri finally turned to leave the room before he let himself break down a little again, unable to stop the tears from falling. He was tired and in pain and felt so alone and all these other stupid emotions that didn’t matter because the nagging voice inside the back of his head kept reminding him that he was just a burden on those who had better things to do than babysit him.

Yuuri reached over to grab the clothes left on the bed for him and pulled them on, glad to at least have something to cover himself. He hissed as he tried wiping at the tears, his eye swollen and painful already, which didn’t help because it only made him cry more. Because despite being an adult, he was still just a stupid child.

Downstairs, Lauri checked on Tiberius, who was snoring softly and made boneless puddle in his arms when moved onto the couch where Yuuri had been initially. "This is a ********. He's so emotive, cat." The Finn sighed and went to pick up the mess Tiberius had left in the kitchen before making two separate Ziploc baggies of ice for Yuuri, getting two hand towels to wrap around them, and grabbing the first aid kit.

Lauri started to go back towards the stairs, but stopped and served up a glass of whiskey, neat for himself before making his way back. He needed the fortification. Upon his return to the bedroom, he found a crying packmate, which was distressing. Should have taken two shots...

Kit and ice were set down, but Lauri really didn't know what to do to make Yuuri stop crying - beyond drugging him. Which was an option he was considering. At the very least, he managed to stop himself from saying 'Calm down' again, and instead offered the wrapped ice wordlessly for Yuuri's eye, taking out the Neosporin and using his finger to dab some lightly at the cut on his lip.

"You should lay down so I can ice your shoulder." Something in his tone was a little sharper than flat, a bit more of a command than suggestion.

It was difficult not to think about the man who left the room. Part of Yuuri wondered if things would have been different if Lauri wasn’t also Aue, who considered him part of his Pack. And what would he have done if Tiberius hadn’t shown up to help him? Would the senshi have killed him? He certainly didn’t seem to be holding anything back. And then what? What would have happened after that?

His family certainly wouldn’t have cared if he happened to die overseas. If anything, they would probably just collect on life insurance they had out on him. Adrien would care, yes. But Adrien would also eventually move on. Wolfeite would be disappointed he wasted his time. Lauri wouldn’t be wasting time on him if he’d died. Would they even notice he was missing?

Lauri, had been kind to him, even before he realized he was part of his “pack”. Before he knew Wolfeite had brought him into the fold of the Negaverse. Lauri, with his stormy blue eyes and faint freckles and long, dark eyelashes and expression that was always a moment away from scowling. He could have easily dumped Yuuri off at the hospital and called it a night, but whether out of obligation or because he was really just a good person, Lauri had personally taken it upon himself to make sure Yuuri was okay.

So of course Yuuri felt guilty when Lauri made his way back to the room and saw him crying. He hasn’t intended on letting anyone see him cry. It was weak and pathetic, but he supposed it wasn’t surprising coming from him.

He held still as Lauri handed him the ice, and hesitated only a moment before pressing it against his face, clenching his jaw tight against crying more. Yuuri almost pulled away in surprise when Lauri dabbed the neosporin on his lip, but settled quickly, resigned to making this as easy as possible for him.

So when he was told to lay down, he paused for just a moment before obediently pulling himself up onto the bed, hand still holding the ice wrapped in a towel against his face.

“You don’t have to. You had other things to do before saving me, didn’t you?“ he asked softly, feeling somewhat uncomfortable if only because he knew there were better things Lauri could be doing.

“He bit you too,” he mumbled after a moment. Not a question. Just a statement.

Obedient again, from shame or because he responds to command? Both? Neither? He was good at reading people, but it was difficult still; he'd had a similar problem the first time he'd encountered Yuuri and assisted him with the ankle injury. It was a bit easier this time, pieces falling into place more now, but still not as well as when he'd been Pasi. He knew this - how didn't matter, but he knew.

Lauri pulled the duvet and sheet out from under Yuuri and then up over his waist as if he were a child; the fact that he'd just tucked his packmate into his bed hitting only after the fact, but it was fine he needed to watch after Yuuri anyway. It was dangerous to let this one alone too long - he would smother himself in self-loathing and panic.

"Yes and yes." As usual, the Finn's answers were blunt and to the point, but his hands were gentle as the set the second ice pack to Yuuri's battered shoulder. The mumbled statement got a final yes as well, "I did not mind the biting." Lauri sighed and rubbed his hand over the scar on his neck, remembering the sharp pain of it; biting was the least of it, but he assumed nothing about the Wolfe's relationship with Yuuri.

"I think it might have been different for you." Lauri fetched water to place at Yuuri's bedside, and gave him two aspirin from a packet, frowning as he did so. "If this does not help enough, you tell me. There are other things."

Was it strange that Lauri was pulling the covers up over him to tuck him in? He thought it might be strange, but he wasn’t entirely sure. For all he knew, this was what normal people did when trying to care for someone else. He hadn’t had much experience with it, but he didn’t resist even as he watched Lauri with quiet curiosity.

Yuuri cringed a little at the cold of the ice against his shoulder, shifting his hold on the other ice pack so it might be easier for Lauri to tend to him. There was a strange tension in Lauri that Yuuri couldn’t quite decipher. Was it because he was frustrated about having to put up with Yuuri? Or maybe because he was thinking about how to care for the injuries Yuuri had received, probably knowing that Yuuri had no idea how to care for himself when it came to injuries.

He sniffled softly, and turned his head to rub at his nose and face with the back of his hand, still trying to get the rest of the tears to stop. They weren’t pouring out any more, but they still clung to his lashes, threatening to fall.

It was the pain and embarrassment he blamed it on.

“Our General spared me and made me into something useful,” Yuuri explained, his voice still quiet and a little strained as he pushed himself up enough to set the ice down so he could take the aspirin from the table to swallow with the water after a mumbled 'thank you'.

“My life belongs to him. He can do whatever he wants with me,” he mumbled, growing quieter as he set the water down, and eased onto his back once more, trying not to wince.

He already knew he was going to be in a lot of pain by the morning. The adrenaline had been steadily lessening in his system and even now his head was pounding and everything seemed to ache.

There were things to be concerned about and things to think about later when he wasn't playing caregiver to a packmate - like discussing the carelessness of having corrupted someone to the Negaverse without equipping them with the information and skills necessary to thrive. But that wasn't for Yuuri to worry about, at all, nor was it something for him to voice aloud to him - no matter how frustrated Lauri might be with Wolfeite.

"Your life belongs to the Negaverse first, then to the Pack. Then it belongs to yourself. There is order to these things that Wolfeite knows, Yuuri." Lauri helped to get Yuuri resettled onto the pillows with the ice after taking the aspirin, even going so far as to stroke his hair gently. "It is important to remember these things."

Yuuri moved like he was in quite a bit of pain; Lauri knew it would only get worse. The aspirin wouldn't be enough to let him rest properly - rest that was needed desperately to help set the healing process in motion.

The Finn rose and got a beer from the mini fridge for himself, setting it on the other bedside table and getting onto the bed carefully so it didn't jostle Yuuri too much. He drew a box from the top drawer as well, and went about the process of loading a glass pipe with an aromatic green herb, intent on his new project. "I don't think the aspirin will be enough."

Yuuri made a small questioning sound and turned his head a bit, but the ice pack mostly kept Lauri's actions from his view. "Have you ever been high?" An answer to the negative confirmed what Lauri had believed about his packmate - it was unfortunate, but not really unexpected. "This will help with the pain and let you relax enough to sleep." Was it bad that he was taking advantage of Yuuri's trusting and obedient nature? Perhaps, but it was for the best, really.

Offering the pipe was out of the question - Yuuri wouldn't know how to use it properly, plus his lip was busted. So how to get the smoke into his lungs? There was nothing for it, really. Lauri shifted on the bed so he was half leaning over the injured man, "You're going to breath what I give you, so open your mouth, Yuuri. We may have to try a few times, but you'll figure it out." It was clear that Yuuri didn't quite understand, but he was obedient as the Finn lit up and drew in deep lungs full of the sweet white smoke before putting his mouth carefully over Yuuri's and exhaling into him.

Yuuri had opened his mouth, perhaps to argue, but the words were lost as Lauri helped him get settled again. It was difficult to argue with Lauri when he knew Wolfeite very much cared about himself. He’d said so, and Yuuri had agreed to do whatever was needed of him. Serving the Negaverse was obviously a priority, and that part of what Lauri said wasn’t the issue. Nor was the issue with his life belonging to the Pack. His life belonging to himself gave him doubts.

He’d watched curiously as Lauri got up to move around the room, trying not to think too hard about what he was doing. No, he’d never been high. Before Adrien, he’d never been drunk before either. He’d never done a lot of things, mostly because his anxiety wouldn’t allow it. He avoided going out with people, even classmates, because he knew he would want to escape and would have wasted their time.

When Lauri shifted on the bed to lean over him, Yuuri tensed and stared with his uncovered eye, gaping dumbly up at Lauri as Yuuri tried to will himself to sink further into the mattress. The smoke, Yuuri was absolutely certain, was from the heat of his face and ears and neck, and not from Lauri’s pipe.

But he did as he was told and opened his mouth, Lauri absolutely correct in thinking Yuuri didn’t really understand. Lauri said this would help with the pain and help him relax, and even if Yuuri didn’t fully trust him, he was going to do as he was told, anyway.

His heart stupidly sputtered and skipped as Lauri’s mouth was then on his, breathing into him, and it took Yuuri a moment to remember that he was supposed breathe in, which he did -

And devolved into a coughing fit not a second later, his free hand lifting to cover his mouth.

Lauri hadn't been serious about trying a few times, had he? He'd practically kissed him! It... wasn't the same thing, but... their mouths were definitely together... but Lauri was just taking care of him... and Yuuri had a boyfriend, so... and Lauri would probably laugh at the thought of actually kissing him... and Yuuri was just going to hide under his hands and maybe stop from existing in the first place.

The coughing fit was actually not that bad a thing, really, so Lauri left him too it, though he did put one hand on Yuuri's chest while he coughed like a boss. "Easy now, when you settle some we'll do it again." And in the interim, he'd just take another hit for himself, proving that it was something he did fairly often.

When the coughing settled but Yuuri didn't move his hands, Lauri gave him a hand with it, "Again, Yuuri," Making him drop the guarding hands so that the Finn could once again 'kiss' smoke into his captive guest, holding Yuuri's chin with his free hand.

There was no escape.

He wondered if he kept his hand over his mouth that Lauri would maybe think better of the idea and give up. This was not the case, because Lauri told him again, and with a bit of encouragement he lowered his stupidly trembling hand once more.

The second time was easier, the smoke sweet and not entirely unpleasant. And Lauri’s lips were soft and it wasn’t as though Yuuri couldn’t jerk his head away if he really wanted. Not that he was thinking about Lauri not kissing him because that was bad, right?

This time he coughed a little less, and while he covered his mouth again because it was the polite thing to do while coughing, he was soon to lower it, his mouth open once more because he’d been told a few, and he just hoped Lauri was right in that he would relax and everything wouldn’t be as painful.

One more should be enough, I don't want to ******** him up too much... "Good, good." Encouragement was important for someone like Yuuri, Lauri knew this - he understood it. He also understood it was important to that his packmate could pull away and 'escape' if he really wanted - or needed. But it seemed like Yuuri had accepted his fate, because this time when he stopped coughing he dropped his hand and opened his mouth again and just waited. Such an obedient boy.

"Just once more, you're doing very well. Try to hold it in your lungs." Lauri lit up again and repeated the whole process with Yuuri; when he finally leaned back it was to take another hit for himself before setting his paraphernalia back in the box so it wouldn't go wandering.

Lauri dropped onto the bed next to Yuuri and exhaled, white smoke across the blanket. There we go. So much better. He could relax some too, finally.

This time he did his best not to cough. He tried exactly what Lauri suggested and held the smoke in his lungs, holding his breath for a long moment before letting it out again.

It was… strange… Not anything to do with getting high or whatever, but with Lauri, and Tiberius by extension. It was strange to have someone… multiple someones keeping an eye on him, helping him. And Lauri was knowledgeable enough to know how to handle injuries and how to handle him. Yuuri knew he wasn’t that easy to be around. Most people were uncomfortable around him because he was quiet and awkward and was prone to anxiety. A lot of anxiety.

“Do you remember when you met me as Pasi?” he asked, unable to keep the curiosity down as he watched Lauri get settled out of the corner of his eye. Yuuri had relaxed a bit since he’d first settled down on the bed. And he was warm under the sheets. Well, he was warm because his face was still probably a bright red, but the blush had to be fading now as he calmed.

“I thought you might drag me to the police station for assault… or hurt me if you wanted… you would have been completely in your right to do so,” Yuuri admitted, adjusting his hold on the ice he had against his eye, wondering if it was weird that he thought back to meeting Pasi almost fondly. There had been a lot worse things that could have happened.

Yuuri did quite well that third time, and Lauri smiled, the emotion making his anti-eyebrow piercing move as the muscles of his face did in ways not normally seen. The THC should start creeping up on him slowly, hitting like a warm blanket around his consciousness; it was already working for Lauri, but he'd inhaled more deeply and taken it first-hand, rather than second-hand the way Yuuri had.

"I remember things as Aue, mostly." Lauri's hand rested on the duvet over Yuuri's stomach, fingers making unknowable shapes there. "Pasi made a file about people and events that mattered. You're in it. It explains where the scar on my thigh is from."

Yuuri's words slithered into his brain - 'I thought you might drag me to the police station for assault... or hurt me... completely in your right to do so...' "He - I - kidnapped you. Over coffee. It was to care for you but. Weird. Stupid." Lauri was being a bit chatty, which was probably strange too.

"How's your face?" Sitting up with effort, the Finn reached to touch smooth skin, fingers light over bruised flesh and abrasions. "The ice helps. Leeches would be better. Not really sure about becoming a leech farmer. Might be worth it." Being in the Negaverse, that was.

Guine

He couldn’t quite look at Lauri’s smile, and glanced away quickly as he felt heat rise in his face again. Which was stupid. Because people were allowed to smile. Even if he didn’t smile, at least not often if ever, didn’t mean others couldn’t.

But Lauri had a particularly nice smile that made his eyes seem brighter, the corners of them crinkling just slightly.

For a moment, Yuuri was relieved that Lauri only remembered things as Aue. It was difficult to picture Lauri as Pasi, but if that’s what Tiberius said, and the fact that Lauri confirmed it meant that it must be true, right?

The reveal that there was a file kept and somehow he’d managed to get in it was a bit horrifying though, and Yuuri gaped and sputtered wordlessly for a few moments as Lauri admitting to knowing why he’d been kidnapped, and then sat up to check on Yuuri’s face.

Still, he didn’t react as dramatically as he normally would have, his eyes closing for a moment as Lauri brushed his fingers over his bruised face, not even minding the hand that was drawing shapes on the covers over his stomach.

“Your fingers are warm,” he said quietly, not really knowing why he said something like that out loud, but it was said and he couldn’t exactly take it back. His own hand lowered the ice he’d been keeping on his face, turning his head to the side to give Lauri a better view. Of course, that was the same side he had the bite mark from Wolfeite on his neck.

It was a weird mix of not knowing whether to be proud of the mark, because it meant that Wolfeite might actually consider him his and thus not want to get rid of him so easily, but also shame because… it was very clearly a bite mark on his neck. Normally he was able to hide it with collared shirts, but not always.

“My face hurts,” he admitted and glanced back up at Lauri with a curious expression. “Leeches? Really?” That was the first time he’d heard of something like that.

Yuuri's lowered stress response told Lauri that he was relaxing some, the smoke he'd inhaled was doing it's work - he wasn't sure if his packmate would need more, but that was something they could figure out as they went. Really. For the moment he was more concerned with the puffy swelling of Yuuri's eye and the fact that he wasn't trying to melt into the bed to hide just because Lauri was touching his face.

"Yeah." The Finn chuckled and peeled Yuuri's lower eyelids down when the ice pack was moved, but it didn't look like there was anything crazy going on, so he left that well enough alone. "You're a little stoned, Yuuri." The bite mark made him angry again, but it was something to put aside - biting him was one thing, after all, Aue had gone and bitten Wolfeite back...he was perfectly capable of holding his own. Kamacite wasn't. Yuuri wasn't. Biting him was biting someone utterly defenseless and that displeased Lauri quite a bit.

"Swelling's coming from blood pooling under the skin. Leeches would help some, with a fairly fresh wound, anyway." Lauri shrugged a little, then gestured for him to put the ice back on his face, "Give it a little longer, if you still hurt a lot in fifteen minutes...we can try more smoke." Until then, he was going to contemplate leeches and Yuuri's bite mark. And his own. And the one he left on Wolfeite.
