He stumbled back with a grunt, his glasses falling off into the grass. He didn't bither pickibg them up as he went in again.

"We kind of need to be strong for our survival don't we?" Al asked in earnest as he struck back with equal measures.
He could feel his sheild starting to weaken properly now. Melvin was a lot stronger than he thought.

"That and a whole lotta luck." He said as he stepped forward and threw his weight in a straight forward stab into Al's shield, feeling it shatter and the wards go up to keep the blade from ripping into flesh
Breathing deep, he pressed on the rod for the blade to return into the rod and offered his hand. "Doing ok?"

"Other than you completely kicking my a**?" Al took Melvin's hand and shook it firmly. "Yup. We're trying to get stronger and stronger every time but I still got a long way to go." He wasn't exactly talking about regular fighting anymore.
