Nash was still watching Melody with that same slightly narrow eyed expression; more scrutinizing than anything else, not judgmental, not annoyed, but contemplative, almost.
"If you want to dress like that, then dress like that," he said, after a long moment. "I can't tell you that other people aren't gonna be shits about it, because the world is full of asshats and dicks that like to shove their so-called morals in other people's faces. But I also never thought there needed to be a line between what's considered guy clothing and what's considered girl clothing. Clothing is clothing. You wear it to look good and so you're not flashing everyone your bits, even if that's how you'd rather run. If those sorts of clothes make you feel more comfortable and make you feel good about yourself, then I say wear them."
The return question was, as ever, enough to make the situation more complicated than Nash wanted it to be. He glanced away from Melody, something flickering across his face; he'd only ever told one person in the world about how he truly felt - and even then, he hadn't really told them. It had been - rightly - assumed, and then, bizarrely, accepted, which he still couldn't quite wrap his mind around.
Nash shrugged. "I like wearing what I like wearing. Other people can go ******** themselves."
Easier said than done, said a small piece of his mind.
Hypocrite, said another.

Melody looked relieved. It was easier said than done. He knew that. But, it was hearing it out loud that sort of made it feel more real. "Has anyone here bothered you?" He wanted to tell Nash how brave he thought he was. But that was a thought best kept to ones self. He likely had his own fights and struggles getting to a place where he could be so blunt about it. Melody had to remind himself, it was okay to envy and even admire that. But sometimes looking up to someone else was more of a burden to them than anything else. He could appreciate Nash regardless though and for that he did give Nash a small smile. "They'd be missing out anyway by not appreciating it. I bet you look fabulous." For now, he would just be happy appreciating the fact he was less alone in the world than he'd initially thought.

He snorted.
"That b***h Lawrence," Nash said, almost at once. "But I'm not gonna let that ******** get to me, no matter how much he barks or bites."
And hopefully it wouldn't come to that. Nash was still toying with the stray thread on his blanket, idly twisting it around one finger, though his gaze flickered towards Melody at the unexpected compliment a faint smile tugging at his lips. It wasn't quite an actual smile, almost a smirk, but not quite that, either.
"Thanks," he said. "I look ******** great."
It was a lot of talk, less show, but he didn't need to explain that right now. Nash said, "I don't think you look half bad in what you wear, either. I think people just like to draw little lines in the sand at what they think is ********' 'acceptable' " - He made little air quotes in with his fingers. " - and if you don't fit into their shitty boxes or rise up to their own shitty standards, they get pissy."

Melody blinked repeatedly at the name. Had there been another Lawrence he didn't know about? Or was this why Melvin had been so concerned. Was Lawr the type?.... Nash seemed to think so and Melody had to accept that though he gave him a worried look. It relaxed after he went on and Melody nodded in agreement with the rest of his statements. "Yeah. I'm just... I'm me and there's nothing that's going to change that and -" he suddenly laughed in surprise. He looked embarassed by the complement and even turned a bit pink. "Thank you," he whispered under his breath though he didn't really believe it. "We never did get a proper date though. I mean. Most of it was spent with someone else in your lap." Uh. That sounded like he was hitting on him and he immediately shook his head. "I mean like. As friends. I don't have very many friends and it'd be nice." Smooth.

"People only change if they wanna change," said Nash with a small shrug. "I've learned that sometimes you just gotta move past that s**t. If they're not gonna accept you for who or what you are, then they can ******** right off. Screw that noise."
Which was exactly what he planned to do with Lawrence. Nash's gaze flickered back to Melody's face, brows drawing together in a faintly confused expression before it clicked. If he could have rolled his eyes any harder, they possibly would have fallen out of his head.
"That idiot," he muttered, but it was said with a certain amount of private affection that would probably would go unnoticed by anyone unless your name belonged to the person he was actually talking about. "I don't do dates - real dates, I mean - but I mean, we can hang out or whatever, I don't mind. Friends are cool."

Melody smiled brightly, "Okay then. Do you know any fun places to hang out on island? I have yet to find any." As predicted, the private affection had been lost on Melody. He was barely just getting to know Nash as it was.

"The bar's cool," said Nash. "And I like fighting, so I go spar a lot on the fields. I was thinkin' I'd host another Dare Night too next month, maybe closer to the holidays and s**t so that people can hang out and all that. Plus dares are fun as s**t."

"Dares night? I think I missed the first round. This sounds... interesting." He leaned in curiously. "Tell me more?"
