Seziah Post 8
Before Seziah even set foot in the shop, she was startled to a stall. Would there be many talks after this? What was there to discuss? She didn’t have any intention of demanding anything more from this man than she’d already taken, and she didn’t see how any developments within her body had any business affecting him. Really, though, she was determined to make it so that very little changed at all. They could remain friends, he would continue to do what he’d always done, she would keep her job-
Well, now that she thought about it, she had no idea if she would be allowed to continue working at the estate if she also had a child to tend to… And though she had zero experience with it herself, she had heard that children could take up quite a bit of one’s time. So much so that there was little left in the day for much of anything else.
Still. Still. It had little to do with Tytus. Seziah would be content so long as he didn’t want to abandon her entirely. All she wanted was his friendship. She wouldn’t ask for him to become an actual ‘father’ unless it was something she wished to do.
Seziah shook her head and stepped inside the building.
The shop’s inhabitants consisted of three strangely-similar-looking women who Seziah deemed were sisters, and another older woman who seemed more a patient than an owner. The older woman and one of the healers were in a discussion near the counter, but as Seziah and Tytus entered the shop, one of the other sisters beckoned them over and guided them to the back room. After explaining the situation, her fears, the morning feelings, and then delving very briefly into her previous experience with pregnancy, Seziah settled herself back on the little healing bench, and the woman began to check her over.
“Very, very early,” the woman hummed after a moment. “Scarcely even a month, I would say.” The healer studied Seziah for only a moment, then let out a grunt of what might have been amusement. “There aren’t many women who are sick so early… It’s quite unfortunate.” Seziah flushed as she sat up and began to right her disheveled garments. “But there should be nothing wrong with the child because of it. I will prescribe some herbs for the sickness, and you can return in a month for another check-in.” The healer eyed Seziah through narrowed brown eyes, then smiled softly. “Congratulations, Miss.”

Tytus Post 9
Tytus attempted to give them some degree of privacy as they inspected Seziah. His cheeks barely blossomed into a light flush before the eventual verdict that Seziah was indeed pregnant made his whole world stumble to a screeching halt. In actuality while he had assured himself that everything would work out and that it was feasible to have conceived a child during their beach tryst the revelation still was shocking to hear. It was bizarre to think that this was his reality that the healer had just confirmed Seziah to be with child while that only left him to realize that he was the father, something that an assistant had whispered ever so faintly to him as she grazed past to present Seziah with the prescribed medicines.
"Congratulations on your child."
It could have been an assumption because what if he was a friend simply guiding Seziah to a place while her actual lover was unaware of the situation? Tytus glanced down at the floor before peeking back towards Seziah. Even if he was worried about Zakeel there was something unfurling in the pit of his stomach, a small light of tangled emotions that weren't exactly unpleasant. Yes he was apprehensive, but there was something else that was flooding his senses. That feeling of protection, of wanting to offer Seziah a safe place within that new chapter he had promised her upon arrival into Oba. He couldn't guarantee that he could stop any conflicts in the near future for them, just the image of the manor made Tytus wary, but he would do his best to attain that new chapter and to keep it safe. It would be a lot of feelings to sort through especially considering the fact that he was by no means prepared to become a father, but he had been raised by respectable men who had taught him his responsibilities. As such he was determined to do his best to protect Seziah, "We...should leave now that you've gotten the herbs." He reached into the satchel around his waist and brought out coins from the healer, "Is that all?" He asked quietly as he finally moved to stand next to Seziah now that she had the time to rearrange all of her clothing and situate herself properly.

Seziah Post 9
At least Seziah had readied herself mentally such that the news didn’t come as anything of a shock. And she was also apparently quite a fertile girl, so much so that seemingly one single encounter with any given man was enough to see her with child again. She could only stand to hope that any offspring she carried wasn’t immediately condemned to death for her body’s inability to shelter and nurture it properly… She took in a slow breath and steadily rose to her feet. For now, it was okay. That time could be months or an eternity away, but it wasn’t now. Now, she had other things to concern herself with.
The healer gifted her with a pouch of herbs and instructions that she may either take them before bed or after waking, so long as she chose which and stuck with that time specifically continuously. The woman offered no special insight as to what diet she should try and maintain, likely because she couldn’t be sure what a Yaeli child might require.
Seziah had to admit that she couldn’t say for certain, either.
But after Tytus’ coin changed hands, Seziah dipped her head in gratitude to the healers, took her comrade’s hand, and set out back into the street. He seemed quite eager to escape them, though she couldn’t say if it was because they had no more business there, or because he simply found the locale unpleasant. Either way, once they’d made it back to the bustle of the city outside, Seziah made it a point to speak first. “I stand by my thought that there is little for us to discuss,” she said in a quick, soft voice. “Nothing needs to change between us, certainly not now when there are still so many months that separate this child from taking its first breath, and there is the potential that it may never. It is not uncommon, I think, for pregnancies to not reach the desired resolution, such that the gods choose to take them before their time… So there is no reason to concern ourselves with what might need to change, if anything, until there is more of a reason.”
She sucked in a sharp breath, and it stuttered out of her slowly. Seziah fidgeted with her clothing, her hair, her fingers. She licked her lips, and her gaze darted about from the ground, to Tytus, to the market around them with an almost frantic quality. “But… There is no one else. I do not give myself away so easily, and there are few that I would trust to have me, if I did…”
But it isn’t important, she wanted to iterate. It wasn’t important. She didn’t want to ask for anything more, and nothing had to change.

Tytus Post 10
Tytus frowned at her protest, "Don't say that." He whispered finally as his steps slowed and his gaze sought hers, "That's the last thing I would ever wish to happen." His voice was low, but his gaze sincere as he slowly spoke, "I can't act like nothing has changed, not now. Nor do I want to even fathom anything awful like that to occur to you or....our child." It was a strange series of words to leave him, but Tytus found himself slowly slipping into this reality. He was going to be a father and despite Seziah's fears about the child not being born Tytus was determined to shelter her and prevent anything ill from happening. He sighed as he tried to study her for any sign, any hint at what she was feeling about all of this. "I trusted in you, but to hear that makes me glad. I feel special in sense to actually know that you trust me so much."
The Oban rubbed the back of his neck as he tried to put his thoughts and feelings into words for Seziah, "As it is you are correct in the fact that we don't have to act so hastily since it is early." Tytus paused and bit the inside of his cheek as he continued to debate things, "I would suggest keeping this a secret from everyone, especially Zakeel if possible? We need time to figure out future plans for in case the baby is fine, which I'm praying to the gods that it will be." His crimson gaze slipped over towards Seziah as he forced a small awkward smile, "And though you say that things won't change between us I was hopeful that perhaps it could...I want to be closer to you Seziah, especially now that you're expecting a child. Is that too much to ask?" He studied her with a slight frown, "Or would you prefer not to do so?"

Seziah Post 10
Losing a second child was far from anything Seziah wanted, herself. However, just because she wished it wouldn’t happen didn’t take the possibility away. She didn’t know what she would do if such a thing took her by as devastating a surprise as it had the first time. Leave again, perhaps… Farther from Yael, farther from anything. Out of the beautiful desert and toward… Well, she didn’t know. If it came to that, she would probably let her emotions guide her as they had the first time. But she would try harder this time to be a more suitable parent. She’d thought she’d done well, but it was obviously untrue because she was still here and alone.
Seziah sighed softly, let her gaze dip shut, and shook her head. “It is potentially true that I am unfit to be a mother. I would not ask you to become a part of that life if it meant agreeing to the difficulties it would entail.” But it was true that the little hybrid growing inside her was indeed theirs. There was no alternative to that.
Perhaps not so ‘alone,’ after all.
Her brow furrowed, and she frowned at the ground beneath her feet at Tytus’ suggestion. Keep her unborn child a secret? Why? She wasn’t ashamed, and if Tytus was, then there was no reason he had to even claim it as his. But if she kept it a secret, how would she explain her moods, her changing needs, and the eventual size development? ‘Eventual,’ she reminded herself. Perhaps that was the answer. They needed to remain in as close a state to ‘normal’ as possible while they figured out and decided upon their limited options. Seziah had been concerned that she may be kicked from the estate if anyone found out… “Very well,” she agreed on a quiet huff. “I will keep the information to myself until it either becomes obvious or I am asked directly. I will not lie, though.”
With her business in the market complete, Seziah began to move back down the street and toward the estate. She clasped her hands behind herself and tilted her chin up so that she could scrutinize the path ahead. “It is as much your child as mine. I am not so cruel to keep it from you, if you wish to be a part of its development. As for me… Since I have come to these lands I have chosen to trust and depend upon you. It is not my wish to place an unfair and unasked for burden on your shoulders, but I would also appreciate the company. You are still my closest and only friend. There is no one else I would rather have at my side, if that is what pleased you.”

Tytus Post 11
"Thank you, Seziah. Just for now that is all I ask." Tytus offered a small smile. It wasn't like he was in the most ideal situation to explain his request to Seziah, but he did want time to try and settle some matters now that she was expecting their child. Such a strange thought. Tytus closed his eyes for a moment and the world seemingly shifted before him. Who knew that this could have happened? It was still unfathomable that he out of all people could become a father, but the Oban was resolute. He would do something to change things and to help Seziah in her transition into this new life, to help their child who was going to come into this world as not only a hybrid but one that hadn't even been truly seen before. At least he didn't believe anyone would have had such a union, just the thought made the back of his neck warm ever so slightly. A hybrid in Oba....out of all the countries it seemed the most backwards of them. Tytus just hoped that he could protect his...family, if he could be allowed to call Seziah and the unborn baby that just yet, from the cruelties that the desert could offer.
As Seziah started to walk again Tytus found himself following alongside of her, "Ah." He wanted to protest with her statements, but simply fell quiet. Now was not the time for arguments, they could talk later when they weren't walking back to the estate like this. Tytus did pause though at the last statement before a smile brightened his features, "Of course." He replied as he took a few long strides to catch up with her and wrapped an arm loosely around her shoulders endearingly, "That would please me greatly, Seziah. Thank you." He just hoped he could just keep up to her expectations and hopefully even go beyond those. For the first time that day Tytus found himself feeling a bit more relaxed if not optimistic about the future as well. Only time would tell, but now the Oban was more eager to find out exactly what this new chapter of their lives entailed.
