"Been a while since I went out, too, unless you count the trip across the ocean." He tilted his head just a bit, still watching Melvin. Probably, it would have been polite to look away, let him get dressed in peace. Ever didn't even think of it.

"And I never do anything this...sedate."

This time, Ever was good; he tipped his head away with a bemused little smile that widened just a bit when he looked up to find Melvin still in his boxers.. It made him shake his head just a little bit, relax into the chair, watching him again as he emerged from the bathroom.

"Noisy, mostly." He swiped a hand across the back of his neck, considering. "Night clubs and a copious amount of alcohol tend to be my preference."

Even sank down deeper into the couch, just watching Melvin over the top of it. His expression was quiet and faintly amused, fingers loose and expression thoughtful.

"This is nice too. Quiet. Get some sleep somewhere soft and quiet and not a million degrees. I could get behind this."

"You paid for the bed, I don't mind." But it made his mouth quirk just a little, and Ever shook his head, still watching Melvin over the top of it all. Neither of them, it seemed, did a very good job of reading the other. The offer floundered a bit.

"I wouldn't want to roll over in the night and freak you out too badly." And here was the reason why: Ever still thinking about how Melvin had flinched away from a teasing bite.

One more long pause, considering, and then Ever finally extracted himself from the couch, shoving himself up to stand, to cross to the bed. He hadn't packed fancy pajama pants (or, really, much of anything), and so he was still in his jeans, in that loose undershirt, and so he hesitated where he stood, thinking for a moment --

And then, carefully, stripped out of his jeans, leaving him in the undershirt and a pair of boxers covered in cartoon eggplants. He folded his pants onto the bedside table and then sank down onto the bed, ruffling his hair and squinting sideways at Melvin. "If it does freak you out, just say something. Or shove me off. You should be strong enough."

There was another pause, assessing -- weighing the situation, as Ever slid down into the covers and sloppily put his hair up in a better ponytail, out of the way. Considering.

"...I'm not usually the one who bites." It came, finally, with a sideways look toward Melvin.

"...you've met Zeke." He looked a little amused, slowly sprawling out on his back on the bed. It was soft enough to be distracting, unfamiliar, the blanket a comfortable weight across him. Thoughtfully, he fluffed the pillow under him, and weighed his answer. After a moment, he raised his wrist in demonstration.

"I'm the one wearing the cuffs, aren't I?"

"Oh, Christ, Melvin." It made Ever laugh, hand dragging down his face instead, and he rolled over onto his side so that he could better watch the other man. Beneath it was still a current of tension.

"You're as bad as the straight girls who used to come into the bar I worked at. Yeah, I guess so, typically, though I will say I've met very few people who aren't at least a bit...flexible." Another beat, though, assessing. "...but who told you Zeke wasn't aggressive?"
