Totally Not Late
Gabby had gotten the notice about the party and put an alarm on her phone and everything, but it was just her bad luck that she'd been given an overnight shift at the Infirmary the night before. Naturally, in her state of exhaustion, the girl slept right through the alarm she'd set for it. She did, however, wake up to the text Joy sent her. And she shot out of bed like a bat out of hell as soon as she read it.
She really wasn't one to swear, but she swore all the way to the upstairs bathrooms, through her entire five-minute shower, all the way back down to her room to get dressed, and she kept right on swearing (tastefully, of course; not quite like a sailor) until she was able to safely shoot an honest text back to her friend.
Text to JoyBe there in five. This was, of course, roughly twenty minutes after she got the text.

Prep
Terry took the expressed permission into serious consideration. But he also took one look at what was available and resisted the urge to face palm.
"You need collared shirts. A blouse or two. Maybe a mock turtleneck sweater if the real thing's uncomfortable for you," he sighed in genuine disappointment. "There's casual and then there's casual." Perhaps he was channeling his mother and father's fashion advice, he had to admit his own clothes erred on the side of sharply dressed, almost chic.
Which made his desire for the weeb fashions all the more disappointing to his parents. He pushed that sadness aside, instead searching for one of his smaller white button up shirts and handing that along with one of her brighter tank tops.
"Here, leave the buttons undone, I'll fold up the sleeves once you have both on." He wanted his girlfriend to look good. Sexy cosplay times will happen when it was just the two of them.

Arrival
It wouldn't take that long a wait for Joy to come out carrying a tray with a pitcher of orange juice (though it was a mix of concentrate and powder but it was a childhood thing for Joy, let her have this!) and several glasses. Alcohol would come later after dinner, she didn't approve of pre-drinking because this wasn't a bar and you wouldn't be charged for drinks anyway.
"It's just orange juice, ha, no gin or such mixed in. We haven't eaten, I don't want anyone drinking on an empty stomach. And if you ate a lot before you got here, how dares you," she gasped in theatrical indignation.
Of course the grin that quickly followed was a clear indication she was joking. "So we're just waiting on a couple of people before we can go eat."
There was an audible buzz that had Joy excusing herself briefly to check who it was.

A quick check of her phone would show that it was Gabby and she had to chuckle. She wasn't surprised because, well, Filipino time. Joy tried not to fall prey to it but she was more than willing to give Gabby a pass given that Joy had been the one to suggest she join them. Also, they were still waiting for the second pair of the night to arrive.

Arrival
Rhys followed Seren through into the living room, eyes looking around but not catching a whole lot because she walked pretty fast, not that he had any complaints about that. It wasn't like this was his first time at Joy's place anyway, it probably looked more or less the same even with the decorations. So he flopped down on the spot beside her, nodding a little with regards to his drink question.
"I'd stick to water if it was all alcoholic anyway," he said with a shrug as he scooted closer to her, shooting a smile at Joy who just arrived with orange juice.
"Nice timing," he grinned then, scooting up to start pouring drinks. "You each want one or...? Oh, and who're we waiting for?"________________________________________________________________________________________ Totally Not Late
Gabby knocked as soon as she made it to the house, and no she didn't brisk walk because the last thing she wanted to do was be all gross and sweaty at a dinner party. So she went at at a leisurely but reasonable pace until she made it there. Quietly she stood and waited for someone to get the door. Naturally she expected Joy, but she knew she had a roommate and likely other guests so she was prepping herself to greet whoever it might be.
Either way, it'd be a cheerful greeting.

ArrivalSeren settled in against Rhys, leaning her head gently on her boyfriend's shoulder, once he was next to her on the couch. She had trouble not being cuddled up close to him whenever they were together, but she did try to restrain herself at least a bit when around others, and for Joy's sake, she would do her best not to flaunt her happy relationship in the face of the woman she considered a sister and a best friend. She did, however, subtly slide her hand down to twine her fingers with his again, her eyes glittering a little in her happiness. Seren looked up when Joy came in and gave her a beaming grin. "Hey, Orange juice is great stuff. Lots of vitamin C, and it tastes good." She grinned some more, and said "Thanks, lovely lady, for havin' that on hand." The tone that she used to compliment Joy was definitely not one that indicated it meant more then just a friend who cared about another friend, and wanted them to feel good about themselves. She glanced at Rhys and said "Thank you, I would love a cup, babe." His question made her lips curve up. "Well it is not one hundred percent on who all is coming, cause like Kai of course is invited, he LIVES here, but we do not know if he will be able to join us. Kim and Terry too, so you know both of them, babe. You met Clyde yet? He is another gym dude, you guys might get along. Don't know if he'll actually make it though." She glanced at Joy. "Did he ever reply to you?"
