"Raccoons and s**t figure out how to get up in attics all the time. Maybe there's a hole along your roof." Kavinsky didn't care to find out and he wouldn't be able to in the dark anyway. He was tired and pissy, ultimately just ready to head home and try and get some sleep before his next job. One booted foot was lifted when Banks whimpered pathetically at him. "I'm ******** leaving, I got--"
He stopped, the amount on the table too tempting for him to finish his sentence. With a grumble and Russian expletives he lowered his foot to change direction. "In cash." Because he didn't trust checks. "You pay me a grand in cash tomorrow morning and I'll stay the night." He would send a text to Ellis later telling him he had an overnight job because he had been home when the redhead came home originally.
Kavinsky wasn't entirely keen on spending the night at Banks's but that was a hard sum to pass up.

He had to pause to remember if he had enough in... yes. He'd have to dip into his emergency funds down the hallway, stashed away in a small hidden safe (in a drawer - he wasn't cool enough for a wall safe... yet). It would take several more small cases to make up for the loss, but at least he'd be alive to make up for the expensive evening, right?
"Y-Yeah, I can do that."
Hazel eyes nervously waited for the handyman to return to the landing of the stairs. Part of him wanted to insist on having the man wait down on the ground level - but then again, what would happen if the creature came back for him while he was in bed? He could always join K downstairs, sleep on the couch and let the man take the chair... but the creature had just proven itself capable of entering the front door and the couch was so, so close to the front door....
Wrapping his robe even tighter around himself, he motioned for the younger man to follow him into the bedroom. He didn't even bother taking the robe off of him - for some reason it made him feel more safe - before throwing back the bedspread and sliding his way into the bed. The entire situation was definitely in his top five Most Awkward Life Moments but uncomfortable feelings be damned, he was going to be kept alive tonight and if it meant having some burly, angry looking Russian around... well, then he'd put up with the judgmental stares he knew he was currently receiving from the other man anyhow.
"There's a chair in the corner, or y'know, wherever you're comfortable."
His hand waved, as if gesturing sit down somewhere, you're making me even more anxious. When his head pressed against the pillow, Rob was quick to realize how exhausting it was, being frightened out of his mind, but he couldn't help but cast glances back towards the other man in the room.
It was oddly relieving, knowing someone else was there to take care of things in his stead, even if the big and scary weapon involved happened to be a broom. But, after a few minutes of grumbling at himself for being ridiculous, Robert Banks did manage to fall asleep once more.

Banks would receive a grunting reply as Kavinsky's long legs carried him over to the stairs. He lingered at the bottom, sharp silver eyes gauging what the lawyer would request. Unexpectedly he asked him to come upstairs and his steps were heavy as he followed.
Once in the room he eyed the chair and then looked at the bed that was clearly too large for one person.
He picked the other side, opting to rest above the covers with his back against the headboard. Like hell he was spending all night sleeping in a chair. Kavinsky said nothing but crossed his arms over his chest, the broom resting against the wall, before he too was nodding off.
