There was little Rowan heard beyond the sound of his own retching. His mind was far too focused on what his stomach was trying to rid itself of and attempting to keep whatever was left down. It wasn’t working. It was like his body, his stomach, had a mind of it’s own in these proceedings.

Something brushed against him and he jumped ever so slightly at the touch. Golden eyes flicked upward to find Elex leaning over him and moving to gather purple locks safely out of harms way. Rowan felt ashamed that he was in such a situation. Such….weakness, but what was he going to do?

And then Elex offered the most ridiculous of solution and Rowan couldn’t stop himself from smiling as a tight laugh escaped his throat, raw from stomach bile. The motion stopped the nearly constant heaving and he sucked in air as eyes closed. He focus internally, willing himself to stop the retching. What else could still come up? Surely there was nothing left at this point. The mess splattered on the ground, on his own shoes and now Elex’s was more than he thought any one stomach could hold.

He smiled. God damn it, if laughing worked he would smile.

The heaving slowly stopped, but the nausea remained like a plague. Once he was sure that no more of his stomach content was going to be painting the ground, he carefully lifted his head to look at Elex, an arm reaching around to wipe any remaining bile from his face and onto the sleeve of his black button down. If there was ever an indication that he felt like s**t, it was his lack of hesitation to mar his own clothing.

Then again, it wasn’t like he had much in appearance left to keep in front of Elex.

“Thanks.” He said in a raspy voice, eyes gliding over Elex’s face. Such close proximity to the other teen while in such a weak state left the older boy feeling uncomfortable and anxious, but oddly comforted. He had not expect such a gesture from a person he barely knew. “Sor…” His voice cracked and he paused a moment to clear it before continuing. “Sorry.” He nodded his head towards Elex’s now soiled shoes. “I think I owe you a new pair after that.” He commented as he straightened himself up more, a hand reaching up to take his bundled hair from Elex his hand brushed against the younger teens. His smile broadened as he took control of the locks and manifested a hair-tie from a back pants pocket with his other hand. With deft motions he wrapped the small tie around his hair before dropping his hands to look at them.

“ I am still Orange. What...how…?” He could feel his pulse begin to quicken again and immediately took a few deep breaths to try and calm the increasing nausea. The last thing he wanted was to go back into the state he had just come out of.

Elex relinquished his hold on Rowan's hair at the tough of his hands. He stepped away soon afterward, and angled only a cursory glance at his own feet. Vomit spattered them in a sickly bile color. It'll wash out if I can get my brother to take them. Convincing his brother to accept vomit-stained shoes for the purpose of a wash was another challenge for another day. For now, he stared down a conundrum possibly of his own inadvertent making. For what else could have caused such a fast-acting illness but food poisoning?

"I wouldn't turn down a pair of shoes," Elex conceded, looking once again at his own. His gaze returned to Rowan. He looked worn, drained in a manner similar to when he visited the man as Faustite. Perhaps not as severe, but the pallor and sheen of sweat gave away his ill tidings. I don't know what else it could be. What else would sicken him so quickly? Larimar mentioned a mire of magic so potent that it's distorted the entire location. Maybe it hit here and now.

How fantastical. Erol would laugh at me. Rowan too.

"I don't know," Elex confessed as he took a few steps from the car door. Half-turning, he checked his pocketwatch out of sight. Fear claimed him in a quick pass; his watch stopped ticking He forgot to wind it recently. When had he started his glamour? How long had he been discussing magic and the mysterious with Rowan? Had it been minutes, an hour, two hours? And how long had he until his second skin ripped and tore, and his baser self peered out at the world? Elex set his teeth. "You should go home," he returned, chancing another look at Rowan. "Get some rest. I'll be around some other time." Some other time when my watch works and my drinks aren't spiked with disaster. Whenever that might be.

If ever that might be.

Elex turned to depart before Rowan could object; while the parking garage wound long and briskly, its pavement tongue dipping down into the ground, Elex found an elevator in short order. He needed only disappear from sight, if but for a moment — even if the elevator was full. He touched the button with driving urgency, watched its light flicker to life. The machine groaned; he counted the seconds. His eyes closed, he searched for any signs that his too-tight skin might burst from his body. Finally its doors opened to his clouded reflection and he stepped inside, thankful for the empty space. Heavy doors closed on his view of the garage.

By the time they opened on the ground floor, its sanctum sat empty.
