      October 30th, 2037 __________ Friday __________ Georgia __________ Low 70's with clear skies
For most, the day before Halloween was a pleasant one for those in the Georgian area. At least in the way of weather and major news events, or lack thereof. Every so often, Police could be seen doing their jobs just like any other civil servant. Very few would realize that something major was due to go down later on in the day.

Across state lines, a small team of Sentinel agents prepared vehicle transportation for a very special mutant. The vehicle was just like what one would expect of a government transport unite - big, black, and very official looking. Across the side the Sentinel Services logo was stamped and on the license plate was an official government plate. The back had windows which were blacked out allowing the vehicle to be UV protected. The mutant that they planned to transport, after all, was quite allergic to direct sunlight.

This preparation, however, was not only across state lines but would take a while to come to fruition. It was also something that not many people would know about. In fact, the information could be considered on the top list of the classified file that people weren't even allowed to know existed. Which left a majority of the state free of the cares. Especially in the Capitol as people prepared for Halloween festivities. In the south traditions, even something as bygone as all hallows eve, died slow deaths.

Ten minutes ago the cops had been chasing a young mutant who had broken one law or another. Unfortunately they had lost sight of the mutant. However, one rather prudent cop radioed it into the station. At which point they had been able to contact Sentinel Services. That government organization was specifically designed to handle mutant threats and criminals. They were trained more like FBI agents with some military background rather than cops. The Sentinel Services only came into play when someone was sure that a mutant had broken the law and needed to be detained; in the case of mutants that was almost any time that they used their powers in public.

Either way it meant that ten minutes ago this government agency had been contacted. And as it so happened there was a division right in the middle of Atlanta, Georgia. It only took them a few minutes to suit up and head out. Agent Jace Turner lead them towards the area of Atlanta that the police had narrowed it down to. As he stepped out of the large black vehicle he looked around and gave out orders.

In his opinion it was only a matter of time before they found the multiple mutant criminals that had been reported. It wasn't just the speadster they were after - oh no. They were also going after the female who had bashed someone in the head while using her mutant abilities. And if they could find the one that had messed with the police's senses, that would be even better.

Most of the people on the streets had no idea what was going on with their city. They moved about as clueless as newborns. However, there were some who knew exactly what was going on. Mainly those people were the ones in the Sentinel Services as they closed in on the streets. And when they finally found what they were looking for nothing good happened. At least not on for the mutants that they’d found. The crowd of pedestrians watched in a variety of emotions as the Sentinel Services subdued and captured two mutants - Micah and Regina. The former had fallen trying to help and defend the later from facing the consequences of using her mutant powers in public.

And as they radioed it in, Micah broke free of their restraints before they were able to get the collar around his neck. He had picked up on Regina’s unstable power. And with a show of defiance and bravery he tried to get both himself and Regina away. There were plenty of people snapping pictures and taking videos as the Sentinel Services scrambled to get the public away and recapture the two mutants. Unfortunately for the mutants they didn’t get farther than half a street length before bullets shot out of a gun with deadly accuracy. The girl, Regina, fell first. Micah, however, struggled against the one as he held his side in a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding. He looked around frantically, trying to figure out something that he could use to his advantage. As green ectoplasm dripped from his fingers, sliding up his arms in such an unpredictable fashion, another bullet found him. This time it shot through a vital area; though that wasn’t the intent of the Sentinel Service agent. The bullet had grazed against the ectoplasm on his arm and somehow used slided upwards. It split through his neck like a hot knife through butter. Finally the dark, brave male fell to the ground.

      October 31st, 2037 __________ Low 60's with Clear skies

The day of October 30th was a very busy day in Atlanta. It had started off with a quiet morning but as the morning unfolded, it was anything but. Mutants activity picked up with a vengeance. One kid ended up doing some damage with his power, breaking a few things as he tried to escape from the scene of his vandalism. Unfortunately, despite his speed, there were a few street cameras that caught a frame with his face in it. And with time they would be able to track him and his family down. Which meant that even though the Mutant Underground was able to get him out from a bad situation at the time, it really was an out of the frying pan and into the fire kind of situation. Which means that the Mutant Underground had their work cut out for them trying to get him and his family out of the city. Compared to the rest of the day, though, that was still considered a good ending.

There were far more tragic stories of the day. Not everyone made it out safe and sound. In fact, the Mutant Underground even lost one of their own when they tried to rescue another mutant from their own mistakes. The person that they had been trying to save, Regina, had gotten herself into a mess and had used her ectoplasmic powers on others. It had been MJ that had been sent after her. And for them it did not have a happy ending. Both the local cops and a small contingency of Sentinel Services managed to corner them. And within just a few minutes both Regina and MJ had been shot and killed. Their bodies had been quickly gathered up as all of the proper channels were filed and the Sentinel Service took them from there.

The moment that the Mutant Underground found out about what had become of MJ, one of them had a larger reaction than others. Cassidy had been in love with MJ; he took his loss much harder than others. And considering his empathic abilities it became quite dangerous to be near him at the time. His emotions rolled off of him unchecked to influence all those around him. They even had to move him into the deep vault to keep everyone sane as he went through such vivid emotions that it brought more than one person around him to their knees. His impact and the impact of losing one of their own affected everyone but each in their own way.

No matter what everyone went through, the day continued to pass. And those in the Mutant Underground weren't the only ones to feel the effect of the passage of time. It wasn't just that another day had passed; at least not to one group in particular. There was one group that had been trying to dodge the Sentinel Services as they had been escaping from the law. And it wasn't as easy as it may seem to stay out of their reach for the day. Especially considering the fact that they had been going through the downtown of Atlanta in grid formation that day while they tried to capture any and all mutants that had been involved in the incidents. Which meant that they would have had to stay on the go and keep very aware of their surroundings so that they didn't get caught.

But not all lives were so exciting though it could be argued that for one boy in a public school, it was still damaging. Andy Strucker might seem the an average boy to the outside but for some reason there was a group of kids at his school that seemed hell bent on making his days in High School like walking through purgatory. Which only incited his parents to go to talk to the principal. But as every student knows that only made the situation worse...unfortunately for Andy he hadn't felt the brunt of those repercussions. Then again his bullies had yet to experience the full extent of what they're hatred had sewn as well. Both of those states were about to change as the school readied for a special event; the school's high school dance was about to be underway and the decorations were going up.

Of course, all over the city decorations were being arranged and had been for a while. It was just that the jack-o-lanterns were being lit and kids started to roam the streets. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise because for once it wasn't so bad to be a mutant with a physical difference. Especially since some people might have just thought it was well done make ups. Which made it easier for people like Blink to move about without drawing as much attention.

If it wasn't for the fact that Sentinel Services had been looking for her specifically since her break out, she might have easily been able to escape. Luckily for her and those with her it wasn't just Sentinel Services that were after her. John Proudstar, also known as Thunderbird, had caught on to her. And in the wake of losing so many people to senseless violence he decided to take a calculated risk to invigorate those left behind. Besides it was better than staying behind to feel the effects of Cassidy's powers. Those that did stay behind, like Norman, were preparing to help transfer some of the mutants and their families to 'safer' countries. Not that there was anywhere really safe for a mutant to be anymore...

      November 1st __________ Mild

After everything that happened, no one could blame the Atlantan division for taking a few hours to recuperate. They needed to lick their wounds and try to come up with a way to bounce back from the tragedy of the day before. It had only been a few hours since MJ had been killed and Lorna had been taken. That was just enough time for Halloween Night to pass and for the sun to settle comfortably back up in the morning sky. Unknownst to them they wouldn’t have very long to do that; the Strucker family was about to shake them up once more as Reed Strucker contacted an old work associate for a way to find Marcos Diaz. Meanwhile, Lorna continued to make friends in the county detention center. And behind the scenes that Sentinel services and the renewed Trask Industries were having plenty of conversations. All in all, the city was a pressure cooker that was about to boil over.

As for those in New York, they took the day to try and recuperate and prepare for the next day. There were plenty of construction crews of the greatest caliber that showed up the next day, as many as Ian had thought might be needed. They were there to work on the plans that Ian laid out in order to correct the damage that Shandra had done to the place that used to be a beacon of hope.

The day had started off with a sense of trepidation. If everything went well they’d have a few more dangerous mutants off the street. If it went well. Agent Turner planed to do his utmost to make sure that it did. But even he had to admit they were making a pretty big play and considering the circumstances they were a bit spread out. Not to the point of stretching themself too thin of course - just spread out. He had men enroute to a hotel where they picked up a ping off of a gps signal from one of the Strucker’s phones. And he had more men heading towards what was pretty well known as a mutant sympathizers bar. He even had a man inside of there making sure that their intel was right. So far, so good.

”Talk to me. How we looking out there?” Turner spoke into the headset he currently had on.

Beside him was another agent with a similar headset. That one was the one talking to their inside man. Or, as it currently stood, not talking.

___________”Looking good. We’re 1 minute out from the hotel. I don’t expect any problems.”

”Good, that’s what I like to hear. Let’s just keep that up. Just keep in mind that this is a high civilian area so we don’t want this to turn to a shootout. Are we clear?”

                          ___________”Crystal sir.”

As Turner sat back in his chair, he almost got a moment of peace and sense of accomplishment. Almost. The guy right beside him in the van shattered that as he turned towards the superior officer with a guarded expression.

”We might have a problem. The owner of the bar is evacuating it due to a rodent problem.”

He was quiet for a moment as he contemplated the situation. Since when would bars, even one that served a lot from the kitchen like the Huntsman, kick out all their clients because they got scared of a mouse?

”Tell all teams to move in. Move in now. It sounds like a cover up. Something must have tipped them off.”

His orders were relayed. Agent Turner decided to switch tasks with the man who’d reported the news. He made sure to grab his vest, badge, and gun as he hurried out of the van door. It slid closed behind him with an audible click as he made his way around the corner. They were stationed with some of the other delivery vans that made rounds late in the day for fresh produce. Still, he hurried along until he was with the swarm of agents who were stopping to question most of the place’s patrons.

Turner looked around, trying to find the face of the infamous mutant that they’d gotten the tip about. But he couldn’t see anyone in the crowd. With a light sort of swear passing from his lips, the man moved into the bar to confront the owner - Michael. He seemed to be keeping up the charade that there was a mouse or rat issue as he placed down traps.

”Hi, I’m agent Turner with the Sentinel Services,” Turner introduced himself as was fairly demanded of his station, showing him the badge on the inside of his vest as well. ”We have reason to believe that there might have been a dangerous mutant terrorists on the premises. My team and I are going to have a look around.”

If Michael agreed in any sort of way that would give them the right to do a voluntary sweep of the place. If he disagreed...well, that would make things a bit harder but for Turner that would only prove his guilt by association. Across town, as he was talking to Michael, the other team moved in on the hotel situation to do a sweep of the premises. Their goal was to find the rest of the Struckers and bring them to justice.

11/01/2037 ___________ 11:15 __________Atlanta, Georgia

Dark skies and a rather desolate ground, that's what these beasts got to see. Nearby there was a shadow figure that seemed to be giving direction to the small horde of beasts. Each beast was dark with slick skin, ripples every so often. Their skin was like a hardened avocado, their limbs long and lean. They had a wicked tail that was tipped with a three inch razor, just like the ones on their finger like appendages. Spines lined their back but it was the lack of eyes and the mouth full of nearly humanoid teeth which was really haunting. And these sights were about to give nightmares to the people that saw them.

A small crack lit up the area. Three of the beasts moved through the crack. It flickered and opened back up, letting another three. Then another crack let another three. Each group went to somewhere different all over the world. Three of the beasts, however, went to one place that they may or may not regret. These quadrupedal beasts landed just on the outskirt of downtown Atlanta, Georgia. They were given instructions to test the defenses of this realm after their home had been sealed for so long. And they intended to do this in a very active, violent way.

"This is Sophia Hernandez reporting live from outside of Bob's Burger where a few hours ago police pursued a destructive mutant that murdered dozens of innocent bystanders, countless children among them. The mutant was believed to have robbed a nearby bank." The camera panned to the street that was vacant aside from paramedics and members of the police department putting bodies into body bags to be taken away, among them small children, still in their school uniforms. Soon the camera returned to the reporter who spoke swiftly but with a lilt in her voice that was comforting yet on edge with anger as she spoke once more, "The mutant killed countless women and children as he made his way down the street." As the reporter now spoke she was moving down the street, the cameraman walking alongside her with the camera focused upon her but the background still clearly in view as she continued, "The authorities have informed us that the mutant in question was producing a toxic fog, and was aided by four other mutants. The three other mutants aiding the fog assailant escaped before authorities were able to arrive on the crime scene but thanks to this video clip, they have been identified."

A shakey video took over the screen, showing the mutant in question spreading a black fog around him, as well as Shandra, and Aron running down the street, looking ever so menacing but the shot cut out before it could show them fighting the fog assailant. Shortly after a brief clip of Prija with her sniper rifle was seen as she fired off a shot that seemed to have caught the person shooting the video's attention. The reporter returned into view on the screen and she spoke once more, "The mutants in question are Aron Magnusson, Shandra Tarvan, Alex and Prija Kongkatitum, former members of the once believed to be peaceful x-men. The authorities request that if you see any of these individuals please do not approach them, they are considered to be extremely dangerous and that if you can do so safely, call into authorities at the hotline number at the bottom of the screen." On the side of the screen appeared Shandra, Aron's and Prija's faces.

Sophia stopped in her tracks as she turned to the camera and said, "Witness of this horrific attack, which the authorities are labeling as a mutant terrorist attack had this to say." The video phased out for a moment and then returned, focused on an elderly lady who adjusted her glasses and then spoke, "It was absolutely terrifying is what it was. Those monsters came running down the street, killed so many people. They should be locked away and never allowed to see the light of day. They nearly killed my granddaughter." The clip switched to a sobbing woman whom struggled to get out the words that she mustered, "They.. those mutants... they killed my daughter..." And finally the last witness was a young girl, about the age of ten who was clinging holding tightly onto her friend's hand as she spoke, "The monsters were really scary. One was a bear and had really big teeth and claws and was all 'Rawr! Grrr' and he attacked the people."

The video clip cut back to the reporter as she brought the report to an end, "And there you have it, mutants terrorizing the streets and killing innocent people. Remember everyone, stay safe and if you spot any of the mutants shown on the screen, do not confront them and if it's safe for you to do so, call the police." Before the screen went to black, it showed Aron, Prija and Shandra's faces for a few moments longer as well as the hotline number before the news went back to the news anchors to cover other news.

Two mutants…two. Most people might have counted that as a win but Agent Turner did not. There had been a handful of mutants that got away - including most of the ones that they were originally after. The only consolation was the fact that they had gotten at least one of the young mutants that had been one of their targets. But seemingly ever single mutant that they knew helped run the mutant underground had gotten away. Instead they were left with a young woman who couldn't be touched. On top of that there was a mutant beast thing's dead body to deal with. He was going to have to call the CDC for that one - the blood looked like a sickly brown. Who knew what diseases that particular "mutant" had. All in all the whole day had been a s**t show to the dedicated agent.

Still, there was a slight win. The boy (Andy) they brought in might be easier to get information out of than Miss Dane. And the brunette with a white flare could be useful. She had to be with the mutant underground; he could use her as leverage of sorts. He needed more information and they had what promised to be a well already locked up.

Which was why, once the two mutants were already booked, he had paid a visit to Miss Dane to talk. And it was why he'd turned down the chance to go on a raid.

That raid, in particular, was quite brutal. The Sentinel Services responded to frightful calls about mutant activities near a country high way. It was well off the normal touristy sort of paths but it ended up being a hot spot for mutant activity. Not only were there plenty of signs of destructive powers being used on a vehicle but they quickly found a mutant foster home. Though they didn't know it, this was the same Foster home that the Mutant Underground's latest recruit (Clarice) had stayed in for a while.

The adults had struggled as had most of the children. With the events of the day still making everyone jumpy and on edge, multiple bullets had found their way to those who struggled. The adults fell pretty quickly as they tried to protect the children. Even after the scene was cleaned up their blood still stained some of the tile and wood fixtures. It was the kids that they housed which put up some fight. Two of the kids were taken in battered and bruise while only 1 of them, a girl with blue ornamentation around her face, had gotten out of their clutches.

      November 3rd, 2037 __________ Clear at 75Β°F
      Tuesday
                      New York
It had been about a day since Prija had made her way to Xavier's Mansion in order to connect with the mutants there. Those that she found (Aron, Shandra, Ian, and Alex) had packed in a relative hurry. Which meant that Aron and Shandra had to lock down the restricted sections once more. And considering that there was a construction crew, they had to do it quickly and accurately. That's not to say that they didn't grab a few useful things to take with them; just that they made sure that no one accidently got into areas that they shouldn't. Which would have taken up most of their time to get ready. Everyone else had been able to pack at a pace that was much more comfortable for them.

Other than that, the whole day (and some of the next) had been spent traveling practically across the United States as they went from New York to Georgia. Of course, given the fugitive status of the majority of them now, they had to play it safe with the speed and avoid as many public security cameras and toll booths as possible. Which mean that the drive was a lot longer than it could have been; even keeping the breaks short barely shaved any extra time off. By the end of the trip, it would have been no surprise if none of them wanted to be in a car for the next year and a half.

                      Georgia
Two days...two long days. The days dragged on painstakingly slow for most of the people at the Atlanta Station of the Mutant Underground. Why you ask? Well because for a lot of them it was two days without friends, family, or loved ones. The Struckers were down an Andy, and everyone else was down a Lorna. What most of them hadn't known until Marcos blurted it out after going through the portal was that they were also down what promised to be their newest member - Lorna's and Marcos' unborn child. There was also the fact that one of the waitresses that a lot of the regular crew saw often (Anna Marie) had been taken by the Sentinel Services too. Though so far no one had been able to connect her with the X-men quite the same way that Lorna had.

Instead, they were filling their minds with preparations to get all of those people back. Or, in Marcos' mindset, die trying. With Reed Strucker's help they had been able to deduce the fact that they would be transferred to an actual facility very soon. Even with the collars, they couldn't hold them at the detention center for too long. In fact, they'd be shipped off to a much higher security prison sans trial given their "terrorist" (read: mutant) status. And he knew the usual routes that they would need to look for as well. Plus he knew the terminology in order to listen on the radio well enough to catch what others couldn't as he worked very closely with not only the law enforcement before but Sentinel Services. The when of it all had been up to Marcos to figure out. He'd done that by doing something that pretty much everyone knew Lorna would object to - he went to the Cartel and made a deal with the latest devil.

Marcos had come back from the Cartel mentally worse for the wear, though most people knew better than to poke that particular bear. For most it was good enough that he got the information they would need.

On November 3rd, two days after Andy and Anna Marie had been captured by the Sentinel Services, the team was readying to hit the convoy which would transfer not only those two but Lorna as well. As they were preparing for that venture, Prija brought in the reinforcement she found lingering up north in the form of Aron, Shandra, and (if he decided to help) Ian.

Meanwhile at the prison, before they were loaded up for the transfer, Anna Marie and Lorna were hauled into the medical bay for examinations. Andy was in the back bed, shackled and powerless, with a guard nearby. After all, he was not only a minor but a male minor in a female detention center...yeah, that was already a PR nightmare but the guy's detention center would have been too hostile for a minor. And regardless of what he had done, Agent Turner had made that call seeing as he didn't want the kid's potential death (and or maiming) on his conscious quite yet. Besides, it made it easier to transfer them all if they could pick them all up from the same area.

Agent Turner checked the doors to the transportation van one more time before they started away from the detention center. There was a lot going on in his head; particularly one of the government contract agents calling him up to ask for the mutants they had to be transfered. On principal, Agent Turner hadn't handed them over. They broke the law knowing full well the consequences. They would be made to face American Justice. That's what he planned for them. As far as he was concerned that was the right choice. Which was why he'd gotten into one of the other van's, confident over his decision.

The start of the trip was good. Smooth sailing. But then it started to get weird. Mutant kind of weird.

Before his very eyes there was a massive polar bear sitting in the middle of the road. There wasn't a park anywhere near and he would have definitely heard about a polar bear breaking out and being in the wild. So it definitely had to be a mutant. And considering the fact that they had one of the leaders of the Atlanta branch of the Mutant Underground in their possession he was betting it was someone with that particular terrorist cell. As quickly as he could, Turner readied his side arm as the vehicle slowed down to a stop.

"What are you doing?" he demanded of the driver. "That's a mutant with the mutant underground."

He got back a comment about how they'd lose in a fight with a bear of that size. That they'd need an armored car or something of that equivalent to be safe to run him down. But to Jace it all sounded like white noise.

"Call it in, request back-up," Jace made the quick decision before he got out of the van.

They only had about 10 sentinel service agents after all. Though they did have a secret weapon in the fight against mutants that the Mutant Underground didn't know about just yet.

"You have three seconds to comply and move out of the way before I open fire," Agent Turner said loud and clearly, following the protocol as best he could. He counted aloud so that the bear (Aron) could hear him. Then he raised his pistol and started to fire at the limbs while shouting: "We're under attack! Don't let them get the prisoners and call for back up!"

His first shot hit the bear somewhere in the shoulder. With the fur it was hard to tell wear until his white fur was stained bright red. Agent Turner readed another round as the bear (Aron) got ready to charge. He fired off multiple rounds to try and stop the massive thing of muscle from coming at him but somehow his bullets were flung off and lodged into the concrete side of a building. The building cracked as the bullets were lodged in there with an unseen force; Jace felt the wind from that attach rush past him. What he had to be more concerned about in the moment, however, was the fact that there was a bear barroling at him and raising up high. Jace tried to move out of the way - shooting it dead wouldn't help if the thing fell on him. Plus the bite and claws on the way down could still get an artery.

Another voice called out that seemed to make the bear (Aron) listen. "We don't have time for that!"

The beast (Aron) smashed down on the other side of him. As he had needed to dodge to the side, Agent Turner dropped his gun. Which was exactly how the polar (Aron) was able to crush his gun. He had to move quickly out of the way as the bear built up some speed once again to slam into the first van of the convoy that he'd stepped out of. With anger and fear mixing inside he watched as the fortified van was smashed into the side of one of the buildings. As quickly as he could, Turner got to the vehicle to help the other agent get out safely. He also grabbed their extra hand gun and ammo before putting the vehicle to his back. Unfortunately at about that time it seemed like they were suddenly surrounded with bears.

Agent Turner held his position with his back to the van, gun at the ready. Some of the other agents didn't have as much fortitude as they started to shoot their pistols and climb on top of the fan. Jace squeezed his eyes closed for a moment. There was no way there were that many bears. No way. But still he struggled with it. It seemed, however, that no matter what he focused on he couldn't seem to shake the bears. Unlike the other agents he didn't waste his bullets unless he saw one of the bears starting to charge up.

β€œW-what the hell! Where did all these bears come from?!” one of them shouted before pistol whipping the air and scrambling to climb on top of the van whilst kicking away at nothing.

"Stay Calm!" Agent Turner tried to call out to his men. "They can't all be real! Just focus on what's going on around you!"

That was easier said than done for most of them. He struggled with it himself. Unfortunately what the Sentinel Service Agents didn't know was the fact some of their bullets, which passed through windows of class or just slipped right between buildings, were traveling over 2,000 yards. And some of them, some of them, were finding their way into civilians who had nothing to do with the skirmish that was taking place. It was causing a panic on the street from one side and the cops were being called while the Sentinel Services were trying to fight off the imaginary bears. The worst of it was when a young child fell with half of their head completely demolished from the destruction of the gun.

Turner turned when he heard a feminine voice shout out: ❝Okay, maybe worry a little bit. ... Ow! God-freaking dammit. …Hello! Where the hell is my cover at?! Care bear there s’fine! Protect meβ€”acck!!❞

At some point during that part, Jace Turner watched as some of the illusions faltered. The bears almost glitched. Some of them flickered with many colors. Others disappeared all together. And the sounds were distorted. So he was right. Most of them were the doings of a mutant. Technically all of the bears were the fault of a mutant one way or another. It was just that the majority of them weren't real. Jace aimed his gun towards the woman he heard calling out (Bevin). He was a fraction of a second too late when he squeezed his trigger as she dropped down to avoid the one aimed at her shoulder.

His next couple of bullets were blocked with what looked like a wall full of bubbles. They sort of stretched into the bubbles but then fell innert on the ground as the wall reshaped. Jace looked around to see what mutant could be doing that and he found a blond haired girl (Lauren) atop a building. He recognized her as the other Strucker child that he'd gone to get. He turned his attention back towards the fleeing female (Bev) but she was already out of accurate firing range - more specifically she'd taken cover behind the van he'd started to abandon.

❝Bullet wounds are out this year ya’ know! Not that it looks awful on you darling. You pull off bleeding quite handsomely for a four legged mammal. We just need a coke and we can turn this into one of those old superbowl commercials. Ha! Now there’s a thought. Sentinel services for animal cruelty. Think that would make them lose funding? Anyways, shall we?❞

They were on the move. Jace readied his stance and shot out towards the first bear that had gotten in their way. Right as he did that, another Sentinel Service van pulled up with agents in full swat outfits. They got out of the car with their battering shields and circled around another man who was also in protective gear. Except for his head. Jace was able to see blond hair and soon enough, his eyes lit up with yellow and gold light.

As his eyes pulsed, all mutants within a two block radius would find that their powers suddenly didn't work.

There were a lot of words that Agent Turner wanted to spew out. But he held them in as they tried to recoup after the mutant attack. It had been a bit since the attack of course. There had been enough time that he called in a search for the ones that had gotten away. He knew, knew in his very bones, that they had to be somewhere in the area. The bear had been shot and based on all the evidence it had to have been a mutant in the shape of a bear. It'd been with them but had thundered off at the first chance they got. Which meant that there was at least one injured mutant out there, possibly still in the shape of a bear, that would have to regroup with the rest. And he knew from experience that it was a lot easier to grab one separated mutant than it was to grab a whole group of those super powered terrorists.

Turner pushed down the aggravation of the situation as the sounds of helicopters echoed in the distance. They were still searching for a bear or suspicious looking group by sky while the local PD and some of his own agents were combing the area on the ground. Which was why he was still at the impromptu base that that had been set up with two of the vans. There were communications in the back as well as a few agents taking in the tips that sounded interesting. So far in the last two hours there hadn't been a credible tip. There had been sightings of a bear but it seemed like no one would give them collaborating evidence over which direction it went.

"I see that you haven't been having a good day, Agent Turner," a somewhat familiar voice to said agent spoke out.

Turner turned around to look at the scientist. He wore his suit crisp and the look in his eyes smug. The man was so self assured and in Turner's experience could justify anything so long as it got the results he wanted. He also knew that the man, Roderick Campbell, had been one of the reasons that the Sentinel Services were as effective against mutants as they were. He had developed the sentinels that they used now instead of the human looking ones from the seventies that had frightened the public. He was also the creator of the Hound Program. And while it was effective in the case of mutant assets like Pulse there was a lot of moral gray zones that didn't sit well with Turner. He had been trying to ignore those gray zones recently as mutant terrorism increased.

"That would be an understatement. What do you want Dr. Campbell?"

"Straight to the point. I can respect the efficiency of that," Dr. Campbell said as though Turner had been somehow looking for his respect. "I came to retrieve the asset we loaned out to your agency. But I heard they suffered damage. Care to explain?"

                          "That's confidential."

Not to mention beyond irritating. Pulse had been a good weapon against his own kind - he could shut off their powers within a certain radius along with some of his other talents. The fact that he was in critical care because some mutant had rammed a car into him...well that was agitating.

"I'll find out sooner or later."

"You do that," Turner replied. "Anything else doctor?"

"Actually yes. I heard that you're chasing after some mutant siblings. The Struckers I believe?"

There was something about his tone that Turner didn't like. He narrowed his eyes slightly on the well dressed man as he pushed back his first objections. Considering that Campbell represented Trask Industries, which was one of their largest for private defense contracts in the war against mutant violence, he couldn't exactly tell him off. His supervisors would have his head for that.

"I'm not at liberty to discuss ongoing cases."

"Of course, of course, I wasn't asking you to. I just wanted to let you know that when you do bring them in, I would be more than happy to take them off your hands. For research purposes of course. I think they'd make great recruits for the Hound program don't you? Especially with Pulse temporarily out of duty."

Now that made Agent Turner's skin crawl. It was true that they were now considered fugitives but they were still kids. Ones that had probably just gotten into a bad turn of events. Regardless, Turner let Campbell know that he'd heard him even if he had no intentions of turning the minors over to the good scientist. But just as Campbell was about to open his mouth again one of his agents came out of the van.

"Sir, I think we found a lead on some of the mutants."

"This is important. If you'll excuse me doctor," Turner said as he started to walk into the van.

Once he was in there the clues started to be put together extremely quickly. Bear sightings and then not too long after a suspicious looking group of 3 walking into the building. Turner smiled a grim sort of smile as he rerouted a quarter of the units in the area, including himself, to the apartment building in question. It wouldn't take them long to get there at all.

The day was looking to be a nice one, at least as far as the woman in front of a large plane of glass was concerned. She could see her own reflection in the glass - light mocha colored skin and thick black hair braided tightly on top of her head. Her dress was sophisticated and smooth with interesting geometric shapes. It was the reflection of Reeva Payge, a very powerful and important mutant in a very select group. Reeva herself didn't feel quite so powerful at the moment as doubt ate at her insides even if it didn't show on the outside.

"How are the preparations coming?" The woman's voice called out before she Reeva was able to see her.

Regardlessly, Reeva recognized the woman's accented voice without turning around to see her. The accent was unique - it was not easy to place and in all honesty sounded like a mixture of multiple regions around the world. And considering how long she'd been in America Reeva was pretty sure that the accented speech was a choice of hers.

"Yes," Reeva answered as she turned around to see the other woman in the room.

Much like her, the woman had thick dark hair. Only her complexion ran more towards a warm tan. The kind that one generally gets from rather equatorial regions. And her dress style was less about geometry and more about the fluidity of silk - dark silk in particular. Selene was a different kind of beauty than Reeva but no less deadly. They both were, in fact, much more than a pretty faces in the crowd. Especially with what they had underway.

"Having Sophie and Phoebe captured by Sentinel Services was a drawback, I admit," Reeva said as she politely motioned to Selene to take a seat. "But Esme is in place and we have preparations made to take them back."

As Selene took a seat, she gave Reeva quite the intrigued look. "Our time table is quite tight. For all our sakes, I hope that Esme is as good as you believe she will be."

"She will be. Soon we will recoup our losses and if all goes according to plan we'll have new recruits."

Both woman fell into a sort of comfortable silence after that. If comfortable meant deadly serious and contemplative that is. There was a lot more to their upcoming plans than just regaining two of their allies of course. Which was why these next few days would be very crucial.

      11/07/2037 __________ Chilly (62Β°F) with light drizzle

In last few days the temperature had shifted so suddenly that became jaring. It had gone from balmy mid-seventies to a suddenly chilly low sixties. The shift was accompanied by thunderstorms which had faded into a light drizzle. Such moisture made it seem even colder as little icicles clung to any surface in the morning, turning car windshields into frozen diamonds until the owners could get everything to dethaw. Regardless of the weather, however, the week had gone by with frightening speed; at least for everyone who had kept themselves busy. For those that were actively trying to help mutants within the Mutant Underground it had definitely been an active few days.

In the last four days the amount of activity in the Mutant Underground had been staggering. After the breakout of Lorna Dane, a prized prisoner for the Sentinel Services (and Jace Turner in particular), as well as a few other mutants that they'd been planning to incarcerate, the Sentinel Services had really stepped up it's game. There were inspections across the country everyday at establishments that were even suspected of helping the Mutant Underground. Places like the Huntsman, ran by Michael, were hit really hard with bad press as well as tickets that they wouldn't really afford to give away anything free. Which meant that many of the other outposts and stations had been hit hard as their resources and supply chains were raided. In the fury of the storm that followed the breakout, the government didn't stop at that either. Oh no, it went much further than that.

Hospitals and clinics that were known to serve mutants all across the country had been served with search warrants. Any supplies that they couldn't document as having been billed for suddenly became suspicious. In their zeal with all of the raids many places were left a mess by less than gracious agents. Multiple nurses and doctors were pulled in for questioning as well as any other staff in attendance. Which meant that many of the smaller volunteer based or donation clinics had to close down as Sentinel Services investigated them under suspicion of aiding and abetting a terrorist organization. As bad as that was it didn't end there either.

Foster homes and group homes known for having mutant foster kids were also combed through in a less than gentle manner. For those who did not submit to the impromptu searches right away they were met with force. Anyone who tried to run or stop the searches from happening faced grim odds. There were plenty of teenagers, ages fifteen and up, that were on the run and terrified after the violence they faced from such measures. There were plenty of new bloodstains in homes with no one to clean them up as well as the bodies (dead or alive) had been taken in by the Sentinel Services.

The Mutant Underground did what they could in all of this chaos. For those in Atlanta it meant sending off one of their more senior members (Prija) to another station that needed the help. It also meant taking in way more refugees than they were probably able to handle. By the time Saturday afternoon rolled around there wasn't an extra bed to be had; even the extra space to just lay down became an issue. There were so many broken families in there and so many teenagers that had been terrorized by the event it really did look like a war shelter. It wasn't just teenagers that had been terrorized of course. Adults were just as liable for being traumatized as were their younger counterparts. No one had really been safe from the rampage - not even the human children or adults that had been nearby.

It was no wonder that many people had nightmares of such brutal dealings. Nor that some people from across the country had reported about an odd occurance - a beast or two had attacked everything in sight during one of the raids in Seattle, Oregan. One of the refugees had described it like a four legged hell beast straight out of a scifi horror movie. If it hadn't been for the fact that someone from the Mutant Underground branch had been there to witness the thing taking twenty bullets before it fell over dead, it was doubtful that those back in Atlanta would have heard about it. And when they did it was a grim reminder that something else was happening. Some of them had suffered a similar attack by those hell beasts while in a parking structure. The fact that it happened at another location days afterwards...it was almost too much to think about. The easier thing to focus on was helping people from the raids. That was at least something that they could handle, something they could do something about.

Besides, it was debatable which was more inhumane - the hell beasts or the raids that their own government had sanctioned.

After a moment in darkness as the footage changed from the former commercials to the at the ready news anchor whom was staring at the camera with the most charming smile that the anchor could muster as he took a brief pause before speaking, β€œHello Atlanta, I’m Benedict Ryan and welcome to Channel 9 news.” Benedict shifted in his seat for a moment, changing his gaze to a different camera as he continued, β€œAs mutant terrorists have become more bold in the previous few days, attacking the caravan that carried the senator as well as her two children. They were returning from a conference in which the senator gave a talk on new approaches to handle the mutant dilemma that faces us all. Since the attack the senator has been in critical condition and her two sons were determined dead at the scene. And the mutants didn’t stop there.”

There was a pause as the news anchor took a moment to collect himself as one would suspect, appearing to be distraught by the entire matter and sitting it silence for a moment longer before continuing, β€œAnd it seems as though they didn’t stop there, the mutants attacked a cruise ship. The body count continues to rise as authorities assess the total life loss. Authorities are still trying to determine the culprits of the mass murder on the cruise ship but one thing was clear in their findings, that it was a group of mutants that attacked the ship. After the commercial we’ll fill you in on the government’s plan to deal with these more recent tragedies.”

The camera faded to black and the viewers were left in shock and disbelief as they processes the news that they had just been given. All impatiently waiting for the screen to light up with Benedict’s face once more, and it wasn’t long before the commercials came to an end and Benedict came into view once more and after the standard pause as the camera focused on him, he spoke once more, β€œWelcome back, and now to answer your question of how these threats to human life are being handled. Sentinel services has been put into action by the government to find these mutant terrorists to better protect you, our viewers and your children. Sentinel service has begun searching local areas in regards to any leads that they receive and they ask that you do not involve yourselves, as these mutants are determined to be highly dangerous. Should you see any suspicious mutant activity, call the number on the screen, do not engage them. Good luck my fellow Americans, stay safe.”And with that the camera faded to black once more and the news bulletin droned onto more medial things such as weather forecasts.
