"Deus settles debts by pulling the accounts of those who die. Their income goes to any repairs or expenses they accrued and the rest just goes back to accounting. I'm sure they would have paid my tab." He said in a matter-of-fact way.
"You shouldn't risk your life for someone who just doesn't hate you and is friendly to you. You have Noah to worry about. Priorities." He stated as he leaned back.
"What did you think of Atlantis?"

"I was trying to find humor, Melvin. This is a very precarious situation and I'd rather if you didn't die just yet, m'kay?" He looked irritable and not at all satisfied by Melvin's blase attitude towards the entire predicament. "It doesn't help it feels like no one is taking it seriously enough. You seem almost bored by the fact you could have been killed. I'd be talking to your ******** gravestone right now. Is that what you wanted?"
"I am kinda not a huge fan of Atlantis right now." He squinted at Melvin, trying to figure out if he was even serious at all right now.

"Oh." He said, at missing the joke. "Sorry. I'm sure as a ghost I'd still drink at the bar." He said, trying to recover the joke.
"Well, I suppose not with it being so dark when you showed up. It's actually very stunning. Sophie is a wonder of invention too." He said, turning the whiskey bottle in his hand.
"I wasn't killed, Al. Sophie never said I was going to die, and how would I build my house if I was a gravestone?" He looked up. "That's a joke there."

"I'm sorry then that I don't trust strange island attacking things. I do trust you though, so please don't make that trust misplaced." He looked thoughtful then gazed at Melvin.
"You're not suicidal, are you?"

"I can't promise you that. I don't believe it myself. No one should trust anyone." He said, twisting the cap to the whiskey and wondering if Soarca would be upset with him if he drank. He'd have to ask as they shared the body to work.
"I'm not. If I was, I've had opportunities to take my life. I already know that cutting your wrist and bleeding out is possible." He said. "But I have things to do. Things to look forward to. Things i want."

"Good, cause you had me scared on a few occasions man. Not gunna lie." He scooted over to offer his fist at Melvin for bumping. "At least promise me you'll try not to die?"

"I can at least promise I'll try." He said, and looked at the sudden hovering fist just there. Looking up at Al and then at the fist, he made one of his one and tapped it against Al's in what he hoped was satisfactory.
"Then you need to promise you will not risk it all for me. I'd rather you did not die on my account."

"I can promise I'll try." He paraphrased Melvin's own statement against him. He was at least adequately satisfied by the fist tap. It was almost cute. Like a baby fist bump. "Alright man, I should probably head back. Noah's probably worried a giant crab is going to eat me. Same place, another time?"

"Not going anywhere, so yeah." He said, and rose up from his seat, collecting the parcel.
"Tell Noah I said hi."
