Cake and Punching

Tyrithian walked out of her home, having left most of the cake there for her and her brother to enjoy later. She brought one slice of cake in a bowl for her trainer, Duarte, to have. She paused and glanced back at the house, having heard chirping and scratching. Tyr gave a soft sigh and walked back. Opening the door she watched as her bird like beast scurried out and around her legs. “Sorry about that Pip.” Tyrithian said and reached down, scooping up the averin gently and closed the door with her food.

She gently set the bird onto her shoulder and continued her walk. “This is the first time you’ll get to meet Duarte. Let’s hope you get along with him. He’s a bit of a dork but hey, he trains me so that’s good.” She glanced down at Piper. Piper stared back at her, tilting her head slightly before making a chirp sound. “I’m talking to a bird, nice.” Tyr sighed a bit and shook her head, picking up her pace a bit.

After walking for a bit she made it to the opening where her and Duarte train. She heard a voice behind her, “You’re late.” Tyr sighed a bit and turned around. “I’m sorry, Mom, I was hanging out with a… friend.” She felt a bit odd saying that out loud. Duarte looked at her and raised an eyebrow slightly. “Is that the friend you’re talking about?” He asked and motioning to the bird. Tyr looked at the bird, then slowly turned her gaze to him. Her eyes going a bit narrow, lips thinning into a line, all show her displeasure over his snide words.

“No, the Friend is an … annoying lightning boy that I just can’t get to leave me alone.” She said and sighed a bit. Duarte grins a bit, “Aww, young lov- Ah.” He yelped as Tyr punched him in the shoulder. “No.” Tyr snapped, not wanting to deal with the thought of boy ever. “You find anyone, Old man?” She hissed a bit.

Duarte chuckled and grinned at her reaction, “Did you have fun at least?” He asked, not responding to the joke as he had heard it before. Tyr nodded in response to his question before holding up the bowl with the cake in it to him. “I saved you some.” She said. Duarte looked at the bowl, a bit surprised. “For me?” He asked her.

“Yes it’s for you. Who else would it be for?” She responded. Duarte chuckled and took the bowl, smiling as he started to eat. “This is really good.” He said and grind, eating. Tyr chuckles and sits down, Piper chirping in surprise. Tyr pet Piper gently on the head and smiled, The bird nuzzled her hand with her head, making a contented sound. She chirps and hops off her shoulder and flutters down onto the ground.

Duarte looked at the bird and then to Tyr, “Ready to start?” He asked her and set the bowl with the fork in it down on the ground out of the way. Tyr nodded in response, stretching a bit. “Alright.” Duarte said and stretched as well. As the two stretched before training Piper hopped over to the bowl and scavenged the last bit of cake from the bowl before climbing in and curling up in it.

The two got into their starting stance and started to train, training that would last well into the evening. Tyr was the first one to plop down onto the ground, soon followed by her mentor. Duarte grinned and looked at Tyr, “You’re getting better and better by the day. What are you gonna do once I’ve taught you all I know? Are you just gonna do back alley fights like you’ve been doing recently or do you have bigger goal ahead of you?” He asked her, panting.

Tyr thought back on her conversation she had with Torva. Before she was able to come up with a good answer his second question took her a bit off guard and annoyed her a bit. She slowly glared at the older man, “I would hit you so hard right now, Old man, but i’m too tired to. Maybe later.” She groaned and laid onto her back. She looked back up at the sky and thought back to his first question and her chat with Torva.

“Well, I had a chat with someone and I’ve come to a decision. I want to be a guard, to protect people and such.” She answered, her chest heaving. Duarte nodded and looked up at the sky, doing his best to gain his breath back. “That sounds like it would fit you. Sort of. Keep working at it and you might make it.” He chuckled. Tyr rolled her eyes and punched his shoulder a bit weakly. Duarte smiles and dragged himself up, holding his hand out to Tyr. Tyr whined a bit and reached up and took his hand as he pulled her up. He grins and walks over to the bowl with a small sleepy bird inside of it and picks it up, handing it over to Tyr gently to not wake Piper.

“Well, i’ll be seeing you next time. I need to be heading home so I can wash up and get some sleep…. Oh, wait I need to make food. It was my night… Oops.” She said and sighed in annoyance. Duarte pats her back and chuckles, “Well, Good luck with dinner and sleep. You’re gonna be sore tomorrow so hopefully you don’t have to make breakfast.” He chuckled and smiled. Tyr groaned a bit and sighed, “Dorky old man.” She turned and started back home as quick as she could with as exhausted as she was with her bird and the bowl in hand.

Growth Solo

Tyr stretched her back and walked down the street, looking around. She glanced around and took a big breath as she looked down at the list of things that her brother told her to go out and get. “Ooooo, you have to do something beside fighting for a while. Guess it’s time to become a fashion model girly-girl!” She said in a mocking tone of her brother. She huffed a bit and sneered as she walked. She looked around and started to walk towards her first stop.

She looked down at her list and stopped walking as she heard shouting nearby. Tyr groaned a bit and walked, peeking down the ally way to see what was happening. When she glanced in she noticed three girl, two lighting and one geian, picking of a scrawny guy who’s most likely from the Academy and seems like he would easily be finished off by the three girls.

“I know he told me not to fight. He told me not to fight. He told-” She was cut off from her talking from the boy looking at her. “C-could you please help m-me?” He asked, gripping his stuff close to himself. Tyr looked up and looked at the girls. “Dang it.” She said and groaned a bit, “Sorry, not sorry Tadeos.” She said and walked over. Piper trotted with her.

As Tyr got closer she got a better look at the girls. They were stronger then the boy, but then again so is Piper. Tyr could easily take them on from her training. The Geian girl looked at her popping her knuckles, acting tough in front of her friends. Tyr grinned a bit and found that amusing. The taller lighting girl lifted her boot and stepped on the boy’s head.

“Hey! Did I say you could step on him?” Tyr hissed. She walked, pushing the Geian girl to the side and shoving the Lightning girl off of the boy. “Back. Off.” She said in an angry tone of voice. The smaller Lightning girl glared at her, reeling her foot back and aiming for piper. “I swear to any god that might be listening, if you kick my bird I will break your foot and leave you here crying in the alley.” Tyr said in a menacing tone. The girl slowly put down her food.

The boy looks up at her, still a bit scared that she’ll be outnumbered by the three other girls. The bigger lightning girl snapped her fingers and the geian girl rushed forward and punched Tyr in the gut, not expecting for tyr’s abs to be so hard. The boy’s eyes widen and he covered his mouth. The geian girl growled and grabbed her hand tightly. “The heck are you made of!?” She asked gripping her fist, it already starting to turn red.

“So much more than you.” She said and grinned, taking a swing and successfully connecting, hitting the geian in the side, just below where her ribs end. The girl yelped and stumbled back, holding her side tightly, trying to numb the pain. Tyr laugh quite a bit, finding that just sad. The smaller lightning girl growls and ran at her. The bigger Lightning opened her mouth, about to stop her although it was a bit to late. Tyr slipped to the side and put her hand on the girl’s back, pushing her so she moved faster and couldn’t stop herself as she slammed into the wall, knocking herself out.

“Wow. That’s was sad, even for you guys.” She said and shook her head. She looked down at the boy. “Can I borrow one of the heavy looking books?” She asked him.

He looked up at her a bit confused and nodded a bit. He picks up one of the hefty looking book and handed it to her with a bit of a struggle. Tyr took it with ease and looked at the two girls still conscious. “Who’s next?” Tyr asked with a sly grin on her face. The big lightning girl took a step forward and glared at her. “You hurt my friends, You little-” Tyr cut her off by slamming the book into her head and knocking her out in an instant. “There’s is a child present, no cussing.” Tyr said and crossed her arm. “I-i’m not a child, Miss.” The boy mumbled out. “That was that kid?” She asked. He sighed a bit, “Nothing…” He responded.

Tyr chuckles and hands him back the book. “Come on, let’s go.” She said and held her hand out to the boy. He slowly reached up and took her hand, squeaking a bit as he’s pulled up to his feel with ease by Tyr. “You okay? Nothing hurt to badly?” She asked, looking him over. “J-just my pride…” He sighed. Tyr let go of his hand and looked at him.

“Alright, Introduction time.” She said. He looked up at her, “My name is Tyrithian. What is yours?” She asked him and held out her hand for a hand shake. “My name is Alva.” He said and gently took her hand. Tyr shook his hand firmly, but not hard enough to break his hand on accident. Alva relaxed a tad bit, still somewhat scared of Tyr and her stature, and shook her hand back, although it was a bit weak it was the thought that truly counts.

“Well Alva, let’s get going to where you were heading. I’ll keep you safe until you get there.” She said and let his hand go. Alva nodded and took a deep breath. He started to walk out of the alley and Tyr followed him, looking back at the Geian girl. “Have fun getting your friends to the doctor. You don’t look like you could lift them both.” She said and turned back to Alva.

Tyr stuck close to Alva to make sure that no one tried to pick on him as them went along. After a while of walking the two of them arrived at the local Library. “This your stop?” She asked him, glancing down at him. Alva nodded, “Yup, Thanks for the help the those girls back there.” He said and laughed lightly. “You’re welcome.” Tyr said and popped his back, “Have fun with you nerd studies.” She said and chuckled. “Y-yeah, thanks.” Alva sighed a bit. “Have a good day.” Tyr said and started to leave. Alva nodded, “You too.”

((She picked a fight to protect someone (other than her brother) who needed help instead of picking a fight just to fight. She also saw to it that Alva got to where he was going instead of leaving him behind in the aftermath of the one sided fight.))
