Cat Solo #1: 580 words
Bernard was meowing incessantly. He would be pacing around, but that would have taken too much energy, energy he wanted to save for sleeping! And if he wasted his energy walking around and pacing, how could he possibly be able to sleep?! Why was he doing all of this meowing, to the point where he thought his throat would go sore?
Finally, FINALLY his owners had decided to take out not just the regular winter blankets, but also the electric blankets, and Bernard was eager to finally get his back and to sleep on it! He had wanted it ever since the temperature dipped below 60 degrees F. Sure, he had all of the extra… mass on him to where he could survive a bit in the cold, but the blanket was just SO nice! And he had a lot of napping to catch up on! So far he had been stuck outside in the cold weather a couple of times AND had to talk to senshi, including awakening one! That really took a lot out of a cat, even if it was a guardian cat! He had been sleeping more since then, his owners wondering if he might be sick at one point, but he just has to make up for what energy he had been expending. He may be a guardian cat, but that was not because he wanted to be! In the back of his mind, he felt like perhaps he had retired as one at some point, though it was just a feeling. Which he ‘pounced’ on to mostly use an excuse not to do as his job as much as he should.
Sure, it was nice to go outside, but only when it was warmer! Now was the time to stay inside and eat fine meals, all made during the Holiday Season! And he needed somewhere to nap! Even if it wasn’t the most comfortable, it still was better than possibly taking a nap on the cold floor!
His ‘owner’ was taking fooooorrrrreeeevvvveeerrrr though to finally get the blanket. It seemed that they were distracted by all of the other winter blankets first. Bernard still couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t put his on top, and taking it as the last blanket. Instead last year they had insisted to take it as the first one, which, if he could remember, he fought quite a bit about it.
Eventually though, his owner finally got the blanket out, and Bernard was practically clawing at their legs trying to get to it. The owner laughed a bit though, and Bernard let out an indignant meow at the laugh, but, as quickly as his chubby legs would let him, followed his owner over to his favorite bed, the one with the TV in the front of it and laid the blanket down, putting it at the medium temperature. Bernard immediately climbed up the steps to the bed (before he would try to climb his way up, but he ripped the sheets too much doing so) and started to purr and make biscuits on it. Just because he had been awakened into a more intelligent kitty, didn’t mean he suddenly wanted to start acting like one. That would mean less spoiling on him and possibly no home! No, if he had to act adorable to get what he wanted then by golly he would be!
Five minutes later he was totally passed out on the blanket, his owner chuckling at him.

Cat Solo #2: 556 words
If anyone could see him right now, the other mauvians would be quite surprised to see the large kitty sitting at one of the console screens, staring intently at the information that was currently showing on it. After all, Bernard had been taking it easy, even after he had been awakened. He was too old to do this sort of stuff! But alas, war didn’t discriminate. It would take everyone. All genders, all ages, all types. Everything in it’s path, and unfortunately for Bernard that meant that he had to be awakened to deal with all of it.
Why couldn’t he just live the luxurious life of a retired kitty? But alas, that was not meant to be, as much as he wished for it to be true and acted as though it was. He had barely involved himself except for a few awakenings, general meetings, and battles when he had accidentally been caught up in them. Otherwise, he was happy to laze around on the bed all day watching soap operas or mysteries on the television.
But that had changed when he had to deal with that burning theater and the Negaverse agents attacking. So many lives had been lost. According to the news they had died of smoke inhalation, but Bernard scoffed at the idea. He knew that for ordinary civilians they couldn’t know what was going on, or else there would be true chaos, but he knew better. But smoke inhalation was a good enough explanation for why they had died, just not the true one.
It made him realize though, that he hadn’t been doing much to help the Order at all. He had been wasting his days lounging about and sometimes awakening senshi when he felt them around, but that wasn’t what he was supposed to do. He was supposed to be out there, helping everyone else, getting into his own scuffles, not randomly getting caught up in them.
And so, he had slinked off to the headquarters when possible, trying to gather as much information on senshi and chaos agents alike, and felt some disappointment that the latter wasn’t as full of information as it should have been. If they could at least identify agents, their rank, and their weapons, at least there would be something to go on! Instead it was barely full.
It shouldn’t have been so surprising though. Even though he had barely any interaction with most of the senshi, if there was one thing that he realized about the group, it was that they were very scattered and unorganized. Unwilling to work together as much as the Negaverse did. And they were willing to betray their own teammates! Why was it so hard for the senshi to be able to work together? Why did they all feel as though they had to go solo when it came to the Negaverse?
Perhaps it was because so many of them were inactive. If the database was truly up-to-date, then quite a few hadn’t been seen for a while, including most of the royals. They had no leadership to speak of, and he could only imagine the pressure of feeling like they were alone when the Negaverse was so overwhelming.
He continued to pour over the data, trying to see if there was something he could do to help…

Cat Solo #7: 557 words
Bernard slowly waddled along the sidewalk, cursing under his kitty breath as he made his way home as quickly as possible. It was that time of year again. The time of year where he really just wanted to stay inside and do nothing but sleep under some bed covers until spring arrived. It was too bad cats couldn’t hibernate though, not without the help with technology that they just didn’t have. Many times he had whished for some sort of cryogenic sleep that could be made so that he could sleep through these awful cold months and wake up when it finally started to stay consistently above 50 degrees. Alas, not even Mauvians had come up with such technology, or at least if they had, they certainly didn’t have it now! Which meant that he had to live with this awful weather.
Why couldn’t his owners live in Florida or some warm state during the winter? Heck, even going past the equator would be amazing! Instead he was stuck here, in Destiny City.
Sure, he felt guilty for feeling this way as there were plenty of senshi that awakened during the winter months but it was still COLD. Something that was just completely unacceptable, even if it was natural. Of course, with global climate change, it was becoming more unnatural, but he couldn’t really do anything about that now could he? Unless he managed to make some huge device that somehow removed most of the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses out of the atmosphere.
He sometimes wondered why someone hadn’t tried to do it or wasn’t currently trying to do that sort of thing. After all, they would be rich in doing so.
But alas, he was no human or scientist. While he was plenty good with technology, he didn’t have the means to figure out everything that he could apply it to. Which meant he was stuck with the cold and could only hope that it would eventually go away.
After a few more minutes of trudging slowly through the snow and just barely squeezing into the yard, he found the kitty door and wiggled himself into the house and shook himself off, flinging snow everywhere, which would then melt into water. He moved up the stairs and into his own room where he could see that they just put out nice fresh bed linen and a new comforter with a fluffy blanket and one of his favorite detective shows was currently on the TV. While he didn’t like that his owners refused to move, he still felt quite loved and appreciated by them when they did things such as this for him.
He would have immediately gone up to the top of the bed and curled on it, but realized he was still quite wet, which meant that he would need to clean himself up as much as possible, but before he could, one of the maids noticed that he was inside and took him to get a bath anyway. At least he liked baths, otherwise he would have quite a few problems with his fur.
Eventually he was clean and dry and could finally dig his claws into the fluffy blanket and make biscuits before curling up and watching the TV. A perfect way to enjoy being inside on such a cold night.
