(Wow, much time skip, what a month)

It took a week for Taijana to be able to talk about her pregnancy with a happy, worry-free smile. Those first few days were hit or miss; especially since less than a few minutes after leaving the healer she'd fainted in the street. Seeing the priest had helped; the elderly man had assured her that, yes, the healer knew what he spoke about and that the child would only grow healthy if she calmed herself.

"Have faith in yourself, and if you cannot, then have faith in the man at your side. Do you think that he would have a child with someone he thought unfit?"

It had been a humbling experience. Kieran knew what he was doing, Tacrith knew what he was talking about, so she...she just needed to do her part. After relaying the news to her family, whose joyous outbursts had been more than enough to sway Taijana's heart, she'd done her best to relax. Even a month later she still wasn't showing as much as she thought she ought to be, but the babe inside was actively proving her wrong. Small or not, the little one in her abdomen was active. She had pudged a little, but even Taijana was secretly glad she hadn't gained the full pregnancy experience; she didn't think she'd be able to handle a giant stomach on top of it all!

This time the healer himself hadn't seen them back to the room, but rather an assistant. It was a far cry from how she'd felt during the first meeting; instead of sweating she was happy, with at least one hand on her stomach at all times. "Kieran, can you imagine it; one day, we're going to come in here with three of us, not two."

Kieran was thankful that the past month had gone without much problem. Certainly the man was more stressed, but that was simply his own fault for constantly checking in on Taijana and making sure that she had the best of everything. Fluffed pillows, full course meals, even relaxing baths and herbal massages if needed....the thought made his cheeks flush ever so lightly since being so caring was new to him. But it was nice at the same time...it made him feel more prepared to be a father.

And this time when they went to visit the healer both parents were far more prepared. There was less anxiety and thankfully no worry about demon possession this time around. As he walked with Taijana's hand in his own Kieran smiled, "That's true...it'll be soon enough as well." Time was already flying by with the baby preparations. He just hoped that everything was okay and that the healer wouldn't find any fault with Taijana or the baby.

With a month's passing, Tac's thoughts idly went to the couple he had seen before. If they returned, it would be around now that they would be due back. For a time, he let the thought rest on a back burner. Hearing the familiar names gave him a sense of relief though as he headed for the exam room. A couple taking their responsibilities as budding parents seriously was a treat.

Walking into the room, he have the pair his small smile. The air was much lighter around them now, and Tai seemed to be glowing~ "Well, how are all of you feeling?" he asked, the question directed at the whole family, but his attention was on the woman and the baby she carried within.

She had to admit, it was more than a little frightening, imagining herself with a child. Certain questions had come up over the past month, both from her own anxious mind and that of her family members that would need to be addressed, but that's why she was here. There hadn't been as much time to prepare as there might have been if they'd found out earlier, which left everything kind of rushed, but...in an oddly satisfying way. It made the way shorter, which turned out a little nicer for her mentally.

"Better, much better," She answered demurely when the doctor made his way into the room. "It...took a little longer than it should, but I've resumed prayer which helps to steady me, and I've been eating better." She added the last bit with some perk; almost as if it could wipe away all the bad things she'd said about the babe such a short time ago...

"I just have a few questions...if you don't mind."

Kieran nodded in welcome towards Tacrith as he came into the room. At the physician's question Kieran simply waited to see how Taijana would react. Was she feeling well? He had paid close attention to her and believed she was fine, but what if he had missed something? A flicker of worry crossed his gaze before Taijana's answer caused his shoulders to relax, "Hopefully this means the rest will go well."

He did raise a brow at his wife's sudden desire for questions but simply glanced over to Tacrith. Whatever could it be that she wanted to ask? For once Kieran wasn't the researcher, he was simply the bystander in a discussion between his wife and the doctor.

Tac gave a nod of satisfaction. They seemed to be in good spirits, and that was important. He turned to grab up his examination tools when Taijana spoke up, and he turned back to give her his attention instead. Kieran seemed to be surprised to hear there were questions. Interesting. "That is what I am here for." So long as they weren't stupid questions...... but he couldn't say that out loud. "What is on your mind?"

[8/10]

Taijana laced her fingers together over her lap, or rather, what bit of lap was still visible thanks to her little bump of a stomach. She licked her lower lip while contemplating if the questions she had even needed to be asked, but Taijana knew better. If she didn't vocalize her concerns now then she would only dwell on them at home, and the worry would consume her.

"Is there...is there any way to know if the baby will be like me?" She looked down at her fingers and exhaled shakily. "I-it-it's not like I have a bad life; I'm very blessed with what I have, and I'm very happy, but I...I just don't want the baby to faint like I do. My siblings don't do it, so I know it's something wrong with me. Is there some kind of herb I can take, or a special prayer or....?"

It would kill her if anything was 'off' about her baby. She would love them no matter what, but if the child had a nervous disposition like her then Taijana would know she ruined Kieran's child. It wouldn't be able to know the world like he did, or be excited about the unknown. Rather, it would be trapped within it's own mind and -

Taijana took a deep breath and tried to steady herself.

As the question rolled from Taijana's tongue, Kieran found himself in surprise that his wife would ask such a question. At first he was simply frozen by the fact that she would even think about such a possibility but then his gaze softened as he realized that she was doubting herself....almost as if she were to bring bad blood to their children. The Yaeli man moved so that he could wrap an arm in comfort around her waist, "Perhaps some vitamins to help both the mother and her child to stay strong." He found himself recommending as he gave Taijana a gentle squeeze, "Though if you could help out in any way doctor I'm sure it'll be appreciated. Just as I'm certain that our family will love this baby no matter what."

It was a casual comment, but one that made his cheeks burn. Even if Taijana was worried about their child lacking because of such a potential trait Kieran found it something that he had grown fond of. As strange as it was...but Taijana wouldn't be Taijana if she didn't faint here and there. Though he was thankful that she had gotten stronger since their first meeting. Truly he didn't know what else to say really to encourage her any more than offering his love. It was a child born from their love after all so what could possibly go wrong? That was the optimistic way to think, right?

Brow rising with surprise, Tacrith carefully put his expression back to neutral. That was a first for him... "I don't believe there has been any study on preventing fainting..." he replied with a shake of his head. "If no one else in your immediate family faints as you do, there's always a chance that it is a trait that only you can possess. The child might not develop it at all." He sighed slowly and nodded. He had no faith, but she clearly did. "You may try prayers if you wish. You would be better off inquiring with a priest about that though. From my perspective, just continue taking care of yourself while the baby is within you."

Taijana leaned against her husband as if the contact itself could draw strength from him into her. She didn’t want to worry him; no more than usual, that is. It was precisely why she hadn’t said anything yet and even now It was difficult to look at him.

Hearing Tacrith’s words, Taijana felt a little better about her situation. She would seek out a priest once again to put her mind at ease. There was also the manner of taking supplements to boost the chances of a normal, healthy child. If there was even the slightest chance of saving her baby the pain of dealing with anxieties then she would do whatever she could.

“I have one last question; when it’s...um, time, what should we do? No one in my family is a midwife and we don’t have much experience. Do we come here, wait at home or...?”

Kieran supported Taijana and made certain that his hand was constantly on her side to provide as much silent comfort as possible, "We could ask for a blessed charm as well to hang over the baby's crib if that would make you feel better as well." He murmured with a small smile. It was rare for Kieran to ever consent to what he believed to be foolish practices but he wanted Taijana to be as secure as possible. If doing something he seemed silly helped then so be it.

His gaze went towards the doctor at the final question,. "Do you know of any good midwives or do you mind doing a home visit? I would prefer if my wife was in the comfort of a room at home for when the time comes." He could set up the spare room to make everything as safe and as comforting for his wife as.possible.

If that vague perscription was enough to settle Taijana's mind, then Tac would settle for it.

The final question was actually a bit of a relief. A sensible question! "You are quite welcome to come here, since it might be quicker to come under a doctor's care. However, you may send for someone if you would feel better giving birth at home. Someone will be on their way as soon as word arrives. There is a list up front of those who have collaborated with the clinic to expand their skills. Wouldn't want you to have someone who will just just stand there."

Taijana's eyes lit up, "Oh Kieran that sounds wonderful!" She would have never imagined that kind of religious concession would come from him, but it make her smile, never the less. Taijana hadn't even thought of a blessed token, but not that she knew it was possible she was tempted to have the entire crib blessed.

"Will there be someone at the clinic in the middle of the night? I know that you and the other healers are here during the day, but I don't know if the baby will come between working hours." She smiled a little at that, reaching out to place her hand on her stomach. Taijana rubbed the distended skin and thought it over, "Kieran, we should stay with my sister. She's closer to the clinic so we'll be a little closer when the baby's here"

Kieran offered a small smile, "I also hear they make chimes that you can hang over your baby's crib to help them to sleep. Perhaps it even chases away spirits with its melodies?" The man shrugged, "Though I would advise against completely covering our future child with talismans I believe those two should help to ease your mind?"

At his wife's suggestion Kieran's expression shifted. He had been planning on using their home, but perhaps Taijana was correct. To be in the city meant being near all the clinics and if something bad were to happen then if Tacrith wasn't available there could be a plethora of healers nearby, "I suppose we should. As long as she doesn't mind we can stay there when you're close to giving birth. That way we're ready for anything." He offered a smile as he bent to kiss Taijana's head, "Honestly whatever makes you feel the most comfortable I'll go along with since you and the baby matter the most to me now."

He glanced toward Tacrith with a smile, "I'm thankful for all of your help, truly. It's nice knowing someone so reliable and I'll gladly visit you again for any future help. Is there anything else before we leave? If not then we'll say our farewells for today so I can get my wife home to rest." They had a big move to do after all if they were going back to the city.

Tac nodded lightly. "There is always someone here, in case of emergencies. We made certain of it when we know a child is preparing to be born." Seeing as how the pair seemed willing to do whatever was needed... Tac felt rather calm about the whole situation. "I believe we have covered what was needed. You go home and rest."
