Every time she said it, his heart got a little bigger, like the Grinch in the movies. Arorangi nuzzled his face against Lydia's, blessing the day that she had come into his life and the fact that she was still here now, even more so that she loved him in the same way that he loved her.
"I love you, aroha," he said with a smile. The gentle, restrained kiss made his lips curve up against hers, and he lifted a large hand and tangled fingers in Lydia's waves of blue curls, holding her there even as she pulled back, forehead to forehead.
He made a protesting sound, however, as she started to move away.
"Or, you could just stay here. The paperwork can wait," said Arorangi, a twinkle in his eyes.

Well, she had been about to leave. Really, she would have been on her way back to work at that very moment, if only this amazing man that she was somehow lucky enough to call her own would just... stop being so amazing, even if just for a minute. He loved her. Those words were more than enough to bring her already hesitant self to a full halt as she felt her insides melting into a goopy, globby, mess. His hand in her hair just sealed the deal. She couldn't just leave. He was, clearly, overpowering her with both his magnificent charm and superior strength. Never mind the fact that he would have definitely let her go if she'd made a full effort to pull away. That was totally irrelevant. "But..." She said, slowly, while trying to regain her mental composure. "The longer the paperwork waits, the longer it'll be before a doctor comes to look at you."

Arorangi's arms came up around Lydia's smaller, more slender frame; a slow, gentle embrace that nevertheless was meant to keep her right here, because he wasn't about to let her go anytime soon. He knew that paperwork was probably an important thing, but, well.
That could come later. Right now he just wanted to be near the woman he loved.
"Give it to them after," suggested Arorangi, eyes dancing with mischief, and tugged her onto his chest, stretching up to press a warm kiss to Lydia's forehead. His fingers slid through her hair, then came to cup her cheek, thumb smoothing over the warm skin.
"Please?" he asked.
There may or may not have been some puppy dog eyes involved.

If anybody had asked her, she might have argued that paperwork was the most important thing, but, well, nobody had asked, and really, it was hard to stick to her guns when she was being so expertly lulled into a hazy love delirium by strong arms and sweet, convincing words. She let out a breath and relaxed against him completely, though promptly let out a squeak, followed by a light, nervous laugh, when his tugging led to her somehow up on the bed with him, legs barely managing to straddle his lap, what with how little space there was, and her hands pressed flush against his broad (and so very wonderful) chest. She could feel her cheeks heating with each second that passed, and where words should have escaped her, came instead something rushed and almost nonsensical, though chances were, Aro spoke fluent Lydia, by now. "YesokayesI'llstay." She nodded, and slid her hands up so that she could be able to loop her arms around the back of his neck. If anybody were to step in from behind that curtain at that moment to check in on him, things were probably going to look pretty bad, but that was the furthest thing from Lydia's mind, when she leaned in to kiss him again.

Arorangi would have said that paperwork probably was important, especially if you were a Life Intermediate by the name of Oliver, but not at the present moment. The most important thing at the present moment was, in fact, himself, and Lydia, and the fact that he was fine.
And also that she loved him. That was pretty damn important.
His heart gave a little - a large - flutter as she shifted over him in a tangle of laughter, limbs, and adorable little squeaks from Lydia herself. Her much smaller hands were spread over his chest, the flimsy hospital gown doing really nothing much to conceal anything. Arorangi settled his hands at her waist, smoothing up and down, letting himself hold her, feel her, happy and safe in the knowledge that she was his and he was hers.
A laugh escaped at the flustered words. Arorangi probably should have been more concerned about where they were, but Lydia's mouth was a warm, familiar, aching thing and Arorangi melted into it, hands tightening on her waist before they came lower to rest on her hips.
"Good," he murmured against her lips, his own curving up into a smile. "I need my Lydia."
