Being thanked was anathema to Finns, Aue struggled to accept it with any sort of grace beyond a low grumble. Having American blood helped, but in many ways, even post corruption, he was all Finn. "It makes it easier. Also, cutting, but we do not have shears here."

It was probably for the best that Kamacite couldn't see the senshi of lemon's expression as he heard that Wolfeite had never bothered to share his Negaverse appellation, for it was one of suppressed ire and further promise of pain owed. Not even sharing his name?! That ******** b*****d! Aue's thoughts fell into a long stream of colourful swears cursing Wolfeite's ancestors and progeny for a hundred years before he managed to speak without anger coating each syllable.

"Yes. All officers have official names, based from gemstones as far as I can tell. There is even a queen, Laurelite, to whom we all serve, and General Sovereigns that are directly under her. Beneath them are the generals, then captains and lieutenants. Then, of course, we senshi and the Mauvians."

Aue cleared his throat a bit, "They are aliens in the shape of cats. Sentient, but not monsters. They help senshi upgrade powers and transformation items. Also, they are technologically advanced and assist the Negaverse in that manner." A sigh and another stretch of limbs, this information sharing was...tedious, but important. He could do this.

"Not stupid. I used the wrong word. You were ignorant of the workings, but not stupid. " Aue made a very displeased sound at the idea of Kamacite not being part of the pack, "You are pack. Whatever was intended or not intended, you belong in the Pack."

Kamacite's pronunciation wasn't bad, but Aue corrected it a little "“Tyhmä koira… the stress is more on the front." He didn't sound bothered at all, as a matter of fact, he was almost smiling. "Eh, it doesn't bother me if you try it out. Not bad, but it's actually Finnish, not Estonian."

Kamacite nodded to show that he was listening, not responding but instead filing away the information that Aue shared with him. He tried not to feel too uncomfortable about the fact that he hadn’t known all of this, but it was difficult to push the heaviness down. For almost a year he had been ignorant of so many things.

"I didn’t know there was more to the cats than just being around. I suspected they were important, but I just thought if it was need to know information, I would have been told."

The way in which Aue insisted Kamacite was part of the Pack made him feel a little better, but he still wondered what Aue would do if it was intended to dispose of Kamacite once his usefulness ran out. Aue wouldn’t go against a direct order, surely.

"Finnish?" Kamacite glanced curiously over at Aue, considering him for a moment, glad to be on a different subject. Pasi was Finnish, too. Would he think it was silly that he was attempting to speak his native language?

"Tyhmä koira," he repeated again, careful to stress the front, but not quite able to match the roll of the r.

"Someone told me once that Finnish sounds a little similar to Japanese. I haven’t heard much Finnish, so I’m not sure," he said as he continued to gently and admiringly brush his fingers over his new braid.

"Yuku haru ya tori naki uo no me wa namida," he quietly recited the first poem that came to mind. "What do you think? That probably wasn’t enough to make a good comparison," he frowned.

"By your lack of knowledge with Mauvians, I take it you were never part of the White Moon like I was, that maybe partially why you know so little. When waking one of us, the guardian cats are meant to teach and guide us - not all do." Clearly, Aue had benefited greatly from his time in white, whereas poor Kamacite didn't know his pen from a pipecleaner.

"Most officers do not know these things, our kind...do not spawn naturally to the Negaverse. They do not have the knowledge to share, always." Aue wasn't giving the Negaverse the benefit of the doubt, but Wolfeite; he was certain that Metallia and her higher ranking officers were fully capable of explaining to how to be a senshi...but the mutt?

"Good. The Finnish 'r' is difficult for non-native speakers." He listened politely to Kamacite's recitation of Japanese, noting that in several ways it did sound like Finnish - broken up, strange Finnish.

"Like broken-up, drunk Finnish." Honesty, always.

By his lack of knowledge with everything, Kamacite wanted to amend Aue’s statement, another twist of uncertainty in his stomach for the truth about his usefulness. He knew very little about many things in the Negaverse, and he couldn’t say it sat particularly well.

“Not quite,” he mumbled quietly in response to Aue’s assumption that he was never part of the White Moon. “I’m still unsure why the wo-” he paused, since know he knew his General’s name now. “- Why Wolfeite didn’t kill me where I stood when we first crossed paths. Look at me,” he said with a gesture to himself, his long now braided hair, his flowy robes that pooled around him as he remained seated on the ground. He was several inches shorter than Aue, and about half his size. No physical strength. Yes, he’d mentioned being faster, but would that really matter if he did face an enemy in a situation like this?

“I’m sure you question it, too. I don’t take offense. Even if you consider me part of your Pack, I know I could have easily ended up dead on the street with my starseed removed. I was easy prey. I couldn’t even move when I saw him, standing over some other lifeless body, and I knew I was next,” he breathed, his voice never very loud to begin with, but he knew he was oversharing. He made sure to turn his face away from Aue as he lifted his sleeve to rub over his eyes before any tears could fall, the memory and fear of that night saturated into his very being.

“I know my life belongs to Wolfeite and to the Negaverse. I have no intention of ever breaking that vow, despite what you, or anyone else, thinks of me. If I’m given the opportunity to serve, then I will. If it means my life ends when I no longer have any use, then I accept that,” he said, his voice just a little stronger now as he looked back up at Aue, determination in his somewhat watery expression.

“I have no real use for my own life, but if I can be of use to our General and the Negaverse… I want to do whatever I can. I don’t want to be ignorant or a disappointment.”

Too much. Kamacite could tell that Aue likely had no interest in how he felt or his story about how he came to the Negaverse, but he didn’t want Aue to question his loyalty because of it.

Eyes lowered back to the braid over his shoulder, Kamacite mumbled, “Perhaps the similarities between Finnish and Japanese is just as much of a stretch as your usefulness compared to mine. I can at least see why you were recruited.”

Why he was sharing all this, Kamacite wasn’t sure, but maybe it was because he knew Aue wouldn’t hold back from telling Kamacite exactly how things were. He wouldn’t have to worry about receiving pity from this man, who was already proven to be honest and unreserved with his thoughts, or at least the ones he chose to voice. He already expected to be told to stop feeling sorry for himself and looking for attention; it was what he was used to being told when he dared to voice his concerns and fears and frustrations.

Although Aue was perfectly willing to listen without comment while his companion spoke, he was incapable of refraining from making a rude sound at Kamacite's supposition that he would question why the other senshi had been chosen.

"Not every value is in brute power, Kamacite. Wolfeite saw that you would be useful and so kept you. It is not our place to question, nor would I. You are Pack, that is enough for me." Though question he did, and often, but not where one might see or hear him doing so - that was for self reflection and rumination, not for general consumption; value assigned was not for either senshi to know save that it existed or they would have been recycled into pure energy or reduced to star seeds. "The Negaverse, as I understand it, does not suffer waste easily." Thought I could be wrong, I have been wrong before.

There was no point in commenting on the fear that coloured the line of the other corrupt's body, the way he furtively wiped at his eyes, so Aue simply continued on in a low tone to save his voice from over-use.

There was point in addressing the tougher thread Kamacite was displaying, the hint of backbone. The pride of place and flash of fang and claw. So, we can work with this. You don't want to fail, that's good. Don't. We can work with this. "Your life has more value than just that, but this is fine. This we can work with. Serve the Pack, serve the Wolfe. Serve Metallia. You will train with us, I think. I will help with what you do not know, the others too.

"Worry about how to make use of differences for strength, not how things are different, Kamacite. That is Pack." Aue flashed teeth again, not a threat display but as though they now shared a secret and this was part of it - perhaps it was. Silence, weighty but not uncomfortable, stretched out a bit while Aue shifted in the dull grey space until he was more comfortable having found an edge to lean his back against; it wasn't as though the space was large, but bracing his back took some of the strain off and he sighed as though content.

He might not have been wholly comfortable, but even a slight improvement was nice and to be enjoyed as far as that went.

"So." Apparently, lessons were not over, now that the super of lemons was a bit more comfortable, "Officers are physical fighters. Senshi are meant to be glass cannons. Magic to bolster the blades, not the blades themselves. I am...not normal, it seems." Not that he was bothered by this; Aue certainly put off no indications that he seemed remotely bothered by being atypical. "Of the senshi I have encountered, many are not physically intimidating. They are more of your nature, whether they have magic meant for offense, defense, or status effect."

Kamacite remained somewhat frozen in place as he listened to the other senshi speak. He was suggesting that Kamacite train with his ‘Pack’. He was offering to help him with things he didn’t know, and that others would do the same. It was a little surprising to hear. Had he really been wrong about Aue this entire time? This desire to prove himself worth something enough to not be disposed of was just a competition he made up in his head, it seemed. Did Aue really see him as a teammate and not a parasite? It was still too early to tell. For all Kamacite knew, Aue was just telling him things.

But… the way he explained and the way he offered encouragement was… well, it seemed sincere. Kamacite felt guilty about it, because he knew he was known to think poorly of himself for many reasons. But to hear that senshi like them were not meant to be physical fighters like officers made him feel a little better about things. It didn’t help that he’d met only one other Negaverse senshi like himself and Aue.

This… Pack that he was apparently part of… there was desire not to disappoint them, just as he didn’t want to disappoint the wolf. Even though he’d only met Aue from it, at least that he knew.

“You’ve seen my magic,” he said quietly, glancing cautiously in Aue’s direction because now he felt bad for unleashing his attack on him before. “I’m not really sure what to do with it… doesn’t seem very useful, other than temporarily blinding someone,” Kamacite said, holding his palm up to glance down at, as if that would somehow answer his questions.

“Do you really think I will be able to train enough to be able to fight on my own. I… I always run away if I can… I’m no good in fights.” He was horrible, really. Aue knew that first hand.

Aue allowed Kamacite to digest and process the information he'd given him without additional commentary; he'd given him plenty to think about and was smart enough to need some time to chew it over. Any reasonable, rational person would need to think on such an info-dump like the one that he'd just provided, and a wary, suspicious person like the mousy little sunspot even more so. Aue would do nothing but cost himself credibility if he pressed his point further before Kamacite was ready; it was best to let the other corrupt senshi make his own determination as to whether or not he was going to believe what he'd been told and if he should trust the information given.

When the mouse finally spoke, it was carefully, thoughtfully - Aue approved, nodded. "I would classify your magic as 'support'. Temporarily blinding an enemy is a very useful thing, when working with others. Imagine, blinding a group of foes so that your comrades can swoop in for a more effective strike. Tactically, your magic is a great boon to whomever has use of it." It struck him as gross negligence that Kamacite wouldn't already consider his magic to be extremely useful for pairing, but he didn't say anything. They had already established that Kamacite's instruction had been lacking for whatever reason.

"Paired with another to take care of the front line attacking, the combination would be utterly devastating."

As to whether or not Kamacite would be able to fight alone...well, it depended, honestly. Aue really didn't know what his physical condition was like - or what it could be reasonably expected to gear up to be. He wasn't going to lie, either. "I believe that with training you will be able to hold your own if need be. I also believe that with training you'll learn to pair effectively and won't have to fight alone.

"Since you will have packmates."

Kamacite frowned to himself as Aue spoke. He hadn’t ever considered pairing his magic with someone else as he fought. He’d always assumed he was meant to work on his own. He stayed to the shadows when it came to collecting energy and starseeds. And since he had no real physical prowess, why would anyone consider working with him?

The thought that his magic could be devastating because it could provide coverage needed for a team was… beyond his comprehension.

It settled him a little.

Maybe Aue was right. This Pack thing might be good. He might be able to be useful to them. And that was all he really wanted.

“I would like that,” Kamacite said, turning to look at where Aue had made himself comfortable on the other side of the room, up against the wall. “I think… I would like to be part of your Pack,” he said, feeling much better than he had when this whole mess started. He felt like maybe he wasn’t being pitted against the world while Wolfeite watched for any signs of weakness.

Kamacite opened his mouth to maybe ask another question, but before he could, there was a rumbling below them. The floors suddenly cracked and both he and Aue plummeted into the darkness of mirrorspace below.
