"If we're going to drink that wine I've got two bottles at home already." He wouldn't need to buy more unless they drank both of them and it was easy enough to find at the local shops. "You look like you could use a wine night and I know I could." After the s**t that had happened to him, the overly busy trip to Europe, and keeping up with everything since having a night to drink himself mostly stupid would be a nice change of pace. Plus that usually meant Halston loosened up and even if he didn't actually let himself go entirely he did a bit. One of the few ways to get an actual smile out of his friend.

"I'll agree to a wine night, then, as long as we're not going to watch one of those awful movies off of your recommended list on Netflix. I'm still not actually sure what we watched the last time." All he could remember was something so awkward that it had made him want to drink more and that had made the excruciatingly painful movie go by both faster and slower. Somehow. The dip was brought over shortly, for which he thanked the waiter, flashing them an attempt at a warm smile. He always enjoyed getting the spinach dip here, enjoying that it came with an assortment of things for dipping-- pita chips, toasted french bread, regular bread... Always good to have carbs to line one's stomach if one was planning on drinking later. "Anything good come out of the release parties you went to?"

"I was too drunk to remember what we watch so I'm not going to be any help there." Courtland picked up a pita chip and got a bit of the dip. It was just as delicious as always and he was glad Halston had agreed to meet him here for lunch. "I'll let you have control of Netflix this time." Courtland honestly hoped they'd spend more time talking than being drunk and watching a movie. Halston probably needed a break, given the way he looked, but he wasn't getting out of talking. "Yea, I put up a couple new videos this week with reviews of what's coming out and a lot of the products were good. I've used one of the pallets for my eyes today"

He glanced up as Court mentioned a new palette, squinting just a bit to see if he could actually make out anything different about his friend's makeup in the ambient lighting of the restaurant. He couldn't, of course, and wouldn't bother pretending that he could. Courtland's makeup was generally spot on and trying to make things up in regards to it would never fly anyways. "Can't say I've actually been on the computer all that much lately either." If he avoided his social media accounts he could easily continue to say that he hadn't gotten any messages. Job hunting and other distractions had been at the front of his mind anyways.

He noticed Halston trying to look at his makeup and laughed, grin curling across his lips. "If you really want to see the pallet you'll have to watch the video. It'll be easier that way." Unlike Shea Hal's wasn't into make up so wasn't ever able to notice things unless it was some product that was s**t. "You can't just go ignoring everyone you know. Eventually you'll have to crawl out of your internet blackout hole and everyone will just bombard you." Mostly the other man's family but he knew Hals' had other friends too.

"You say that like it's not something they do even when I'm not partaking in an internet blackout period." He snorted, reaching for his water to take another sip only to find himself incredibly grateful that the waiter had returned with their actual drinks. That was a good sign. For starters, it meant that they had something other than water to drink and beyond that it meant that their meal would be coming soon after. "Also, I wasn't trying to figure out the palette exactly. I was just trying to figure out what was different about it compared to your usual stuff."

"It's one of the same brands I wear a lot so really only the pallet is different. Everyone's doing the whole 'mythical creatures' thing so they released a mythic pallet. Lighter colors than I usually do but it had a couple darker shades so I was able to smoke things out." He knew Hals didn't really care but one good thing about having him as a friend was he'd listen anyway. And he'd listen enough to actually ask questions and care that Courtland was into it even if he wasn't. He thanked the waiter for their drinks and was glad he said their food should be right behind it. With how tense Halston still looked he figured they both needed food since it was probably going to be a two bottle wine night.

"I know you lean towards the darker, smokey shades, but every now and then you throw on something neutral with a nude lip or a gloss and you actually look human." The words were meant as a compliment even though they came out with a slightly teasing tone as he reached for his cocktail. He was used to the drama and the theatrics-- used it often enough on his own when he needed to-- but sometimes it was nice to get to see Courtland au natural. When his friend wasn't going for the bold or dangerous he actually preferred seeing the lighter colors that drew out more than just intimidation tactics. "Remind me later to get you to take a look over the list of shows that are running casting calls over the next week. If I don't pick up this lighting gig I might head to an audition or two." Even if he did get the lighting job, one of the local Shakespeare troupes was planning on putting on a few plays between now and New Years and it had been a while since he'd put any of his classical training to good use.

"There are times I look human? And you haven't warned me so I could fix it?" Courtland gasped, clutching his chest rather dramatically. The grin on his lips have away the fake indignation He would have looked more normal for lunch since Hals had picked a place he usually wasn't recognized but he'd been filming that morning and hadn't wanted to redo his whole face. "Shakespeare? That group you like put out their fall list last week for presale tickets." Courtland wasn't usually one for plays but Hals had talked about working for them once so he'd subscribed to their newsletter.

"You've been keeping tabs on the troupes I like?" His brow quirked, the lightest trace of a smirk on his lips. He appreciated that Court tried to share some of his interests-- or, rather, that Court made an attempt to keep track of his interests so they had something other than cosmetics to talk about. Most of his own makeup experience came from stage and theater with a small bit of it carrying into props and prosthetics, and even then he often relied on others to help him out with his stage face when he wasn't working as part of the crew. "Are we still on for karaoke next week?"

"The one of them, yes. I get their newsletter every quarter." Courtland shrugged slightly as if it was no big deal. He didn't know a damn thing about theatre, at least proper theatre, but some of the plays looked interesting. It did amuse him that Hals did forget he tried to keep up with his friends interests. When Hals mentioned karaoke he flicked his phone on to check his calender. "We are. I obviously forgot but its in my calender. So nothing else can come up."

He knew that it meant more than Court's dismissal suggested, but he let it slide. He could let his friend have that, especially when he'd been brushing things off himself since sitting down across from him. It was, all in all, just another part of the often over-complicated way their friendship worked. "That means you were hoping that I would forget." His smirk broadened as he brought his glass to his lips once more. "I thought you had fun the last time."

"I was not. It's been busy." He turned his phone screen back off just as the waiter arrived with their actual meals. He let the food be put down and waited for the waiter to walk away before speaking again. "I put it on my calendar so I wouldn't forget. It's not like you're going to let me forget something like that." And he did like those nights even if he didn't do a whole lot of singing himself. It was at least a chance to spend time with friends and not have to worry about anything else. Like the psychos who wanted half his time now.

"I might ask you if you remember, but I'm not going to hound you about it if you don't want to go." Just like he wouldn't actually hound his friend over any of the other things that might be going on-- spinning shows, events, faires, festivals.... Although he had gotten the invitation to perform with a group out of town in a couple of weeks at the 'Fantasy Weekend' of a renaissance festival just outside of town. That might be something that Court would enjoy... "Food smells incredible. This place is always worth the price they put on their plates."

"You know I like going to karaoke. How else am I going to get to see you and Shea make fools of yourself?" His voice was teasing as he mixed a bit of dressing onto his salad. He popped a bite into his mouth before pointing his fork at Halston. "You'll have to give me a bite of that too. The salmon looks delicious." They did tend to eat at the restaurant a lot mostly because the food was worth the price and they knew they'd be left alone. Being left along was something he enjoyed and was glad for even more now. "So, now that we have food and drinks. You going to tell me what's up?"
