"In that case," Sol reached out to give Sev a nudge. "Go on girl, chase after it, but don't lose Flana, alright? Bring her back to the inn." That was all the encouragement the raptrix needed. She took off at a bounding run, barely tucking her wings in close enough to her body to avoid lifting off. For a moment she started to pick up enough speed to lift her, but Sol saw the way she brought herself back down, disappearing behind some stone in pursuit of the moracker. Without his 'guide dog' around to distract him, Sol's full attention turned to Koril. He couldn't say that he wouldn't be happy to see the more vibrant hybrid leave, but..."It will...certainly be quieter without you here." In a lot of ways that sounded pleasant, but...he would miss the interactions. "Is your family as...loud as you are?"

Flana jumped to attention as Sev took off, her muscles trembling eagerly. Koril sighed and patted her rump. "Go ahead, you silly thing." Watching Flana dart after the raptrix, he giggled lightly. It was nice to see Flana having such fun. ..Hopefully, they would be okay out there. Attention returning to his companion, Koril continued his light giggle. "I guess it depends. It can be pretty loud with all seven of us together. Individually though.." he tapped his chin as he pondered, "I'd say.... a bit. Papa and my brother are quiet, but mama an' the girls like talking." The thoughts of his family sobered him up a little. They were all the way in Matori... Surely they were all okay! "I can be quiet if I need to be," he suddenly announced with a nod. Sol was a downer as it was. He had to be the optimistic one here!

Don't you dare lose her, Sev. There was no doubt in his mind that Sev would return to him, but...honestly, Sol was more worried about the little zanteer. When she started a hunt Sev could be ruthless, and often leave others behind in pursuit of her goals. It was just as likely for her to take off in flight as it would be for her to stay by Flana's side, but...if worse came to worse he would just go find the little beastie on his own.

His eyes widened at nearly the same moment his antennae rose up, lifting the hood a little. "Seven? That's...a large family." His own had been a lot rowdier when he was younger, but there had only ever been four of them; his fathers, himself, and his sister. If there had been three more of Ygraine he would have likely run off years ago.

"Oh, can you? So can you be quiet the rest of the way back to the inn?"
He may have actually been teasing for once. His mouth was certainly turned up into a grin, but he tried to keep her voice level to test Koril.

Koril smiled brightly. "It's a wonderful family!" he added. "Everyone takes care of everyone." He smiled wistfully for a moment. "Papa and mama had lots of love to share."

Looking back at Sol with raised brows, Koril grinned and sidled up closer to Sol. "Well, I can be quiet the rest of the way. Like I said, I can do it when I need to be.. or want to be. You're gonna hafta sweeten me up a little if I'm gonna want to do it." Skipping on ahead a little, he began to hum loudly to make his point.

[10/10]

Had? That bit had Sol raising a brow. Were his parents split up? Or deceased? No, no he'd said he was going to meet up with his family so they had to be alive....Split, then, if the past tense had been used. Made sense, really. Most mixed families didn't stick together once the pressures off raising mongrels became too much for them. The only reason his own fathers had stuck together for so long had been because they themselves had been hybrids, and knew the struggles personally.

That and true love. If it really was as rare as the stories said it was then they had lucked out.

Sol bristled having Koril so close to him. His cheeks flared, causing a sprout of color to rise to the tips of his ears. "Sweeten you up?" Flabbergasted, he simply watched as the brighter hybrid made his way further down the path. Sol kicked up his legs, using his longer stride to bring him closer, "What does that even mean?"

Looking over his shoulder at his flustered companion, Koril laughed lightly. "Things like compliments, or tell me how much fun this trip has been for you, or somethin' else nice like that ta make me feel good~" he said quite innocently. He wasn't sure what had Sol all worked up! "You know. Be sweet. Sweeten up." Spinning on his toes, he faced Sol while walking backward. "You can be sweet, can't you, Sol?"

Could he be sweet? At one point in his life he'd been a veritable charmer, just like his papa, but after his eyesight started to fade so had that part of him. Stepping forward, Sol side stepped around Koril and brought a finger up to his lips, tapping them a moment as he thought. "Hmm, well, let's see here. "What can I say about a chatter box who used me like a warm blanket in Zena?" He grinned a little as he said it.

"You're the first person I've talked to this much in months, and as frustrating as it's been I've...enjoyed your company. And, if you'd like me too, I may consider escorting you to Jauhar." It wasn't the entire way, but he had family there he hadn't seen in a while, and the chance at traveling, at least once more before the worst came to him, was too much of a temptation to throw away.

"Sweet enough?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 27, 2017 8:49 pm

"You were a nice blanket," he said with approval. Hey, Zena was absolutely freezing! Who could blame him for trying to cling to the only other warmth in the endless land of snow?

Koril's smile grew wider with the acceptance. Was that really true, that Sol didn't talk to anyone else much? That was strange. Sol was such fun to talk with. His backward walk slowed and stopped at the offer though. May consider.. all the way to Jauhar?! "Sol, you're supposed to sweeten me up, not tease me," he said with a little pout. "Of course I want you to keep going with me.." Considering their trip thus far.. even the optimistic Koril was a wee bit doubtful that Sol actually wanted to go all the way to Jauhar with him.

Sol stepped up closer to Koril, and acted on instinct instead of thought. With one foot behind the other and one in front, Sol used his free hand to snack around Koril's waist, bringing the smaller hybrid closer to himself. In one fell swoop he stepped into a quick kiss; lips pressed flush against Koril's, with a little n** to the other's lower lip. He pulled away much slower than the initial strike, allowing his fingers to linger on Koril's hip before realizing exactly what he had done. It was the first time in his life he'd been brazen enough to get that close to someone and yet...he couldn't find it in himself to regret it. The rush of adrenaline coursing through him was enough to put a half-smile on his face, regardless of how Koril chose to react.

"The only tease here is you."

And now, it was his turn to step away, leaving the other hybrid to catch up to him for a change.

Eyes widening as he was yanked against Sol, Koril's breath locked up in his chest. Their.. lips were.. touching... His fingers twitched, feeling the urge to reach for a hug to complete the picture but somehow unable to really move. Besides, it seemed like it was over almost as quickly as it had begun...

Indeed, Koril watched Sol walk on ahead, blue fingers rising to touch his lips. His.. his first kiss!! Cheeks on fire, he gasped and hurried to catch up. "Are we dating now?" he squeaked out with the utmost sincerity. A kiss meant they had a relationship, right? Was that how it worked? ..he really had no idea.

In Sol's mind the faster he walked the longer he could hold onto that moment of bravery, and forget about all the awkwardness that was seeping into him after. His hand shook as it held onto his walking stick, and he may have knocked more than a few stones out of his way accidentally as his legs sped up. He was supposed to look cool and confident, roguishly unphased by what he'd done...instead of sneaking off like a thief in the night.

"What?"
He squawked, "No, no, It was one kiss. That's not how dating works." And he was most certainly not having this conversation. Koril was so sincere asking it that Sol was starting to feel guilty for kissing him at all. How in the dark was Koril about...things that he would look like that after a kiss?
PostPosted: Fri Oct 27, 2017 9:57 pm

Koril blinked with confusion. Okay. Not dating then. Still, that was a sign of some sort of affection! People didn't kiss people that they don't like! He pressed his lips together with a smile. His first kiss... Such a big moment! Or.. was it not? Sol seemed to think it was no big deal.

Sol was a strange guy.

"Are you dating someone? Is that how you know how it works?" he asked, clasping his hands behind his back while his eyes turned up to the sky. "I've never dated anyone. I want to, so I can be like mama and papa."

[14/???]

Sol reached out for the edge of the cliff facing, taking his time to walk around it as the inn came closer into sight. They still were a ways off yet, but at least from this distance the chatter of others could be heard. He could 'see' vague shapes milling around outside, which was as good a reason to stop walking as any. If others overheard this conversation.....

He stalled in the shadow of the cliff, pressing his back against the side of it before turning to Koril. "I'm not dating anyone, and I'm not explaining to you how it works. Figure it out on your own." Grimacing a little, Sol furrowed his brow, and asked, "Haven't your parents had this talk with you before?" He knew they were likely separated, but sure to the Gods above they would have at least given him some kind of information to go on.

Koril's lips pursed. "That's too bad. I bet you'd be nice to date." His parents? He opened his mouth to reply, but paused. "I.. guess? Maybe?" He pursed his lips. Had they ever really discussed dating? "Mama and papa only been with each other, an' fell in love quick, so they say they don't have much to tell. Just stuff like be careful and follow your heart an' stuff." He giggled lightly. "I think papa gets all bashful talking about it. Said mama still makes his heart patter." It was an odd phrase, but fun, so he didn't question it. He understood it a little now though...

Leaning around Sol, he peered ahead at the town in the distance. So close... Oh, right! Darting back around to where Sol had paused, Koril leaned close with a hopeful expression to look up at those blank, pale eyes. "Did the kiss mean you'll go to Jauhar with me? I really would like you to go with me." And... if another kiss came of it.... he found himself thinking that he wouldn't complain...

Maybe another version of me. Sol couldn't imagine being much of a pleasure to date. These days he was less adventurous then he ever had been in the past, and it made him tense, some might even say grumpy.

Any time he'd asked his parents how they met his Baba always responded with a line about a sad boy in the jungle, and Papa would say something along the lines of 'fate'. Details on a lot of aspects in his parents lives had been blissfully kept away from them as children; and when Sol found out why they were hidden, he'd almost wished they had stayed that way.

Sol pulled his face back, and scrunched his features. "I said I would already, didn't I? Or can those big fins of yours not hear well."
