He snorted, wishing he could do something to shake the no good, very bad feeling that was just lingering in the air around him.

"The cat didn't say anything about bringing that guy who was wearing all of that white along with it, did they?"

Hartley nudged Aftons shoulder as they walked, trying to be comforting. He knew Afton was really bothered by all this. While he appericiate that Aft was coming with him part of him had hoped if something came up again he wpuldmt have to drag Afton into it again. He didn't like makiby Aft uncomfortable.

"No, it just ... Well the cat dismt mention but I don't think that guy could be at a coffee shop during rush hour without causing a fuss."

The weirdos were exactly popular with the police.

That did bring up another question, though... Did the the cat transform too? Was it a curse? Maybe it was something like the winged cat from Card Captors.

"I ... Didn't think about that. If were like this then he must be too." That meant all of them were. Anyone they walked by could be one of the weirdos and they'd never know. "Are you going to be more upset if he's there too? I know you don't want to be going anyway."

Truth be told Hartley didn't either but if he never got answers he'd over think all of it forever.

"Shouldn't be much further. Its just a couple blocks up and around the corner."

He paused mid step, reaching out to lightly take Hartley by the arm. He tugged his friend back, letting him go only when he realized that he might have pulled him too close. "It's not--- It's not that I don't want to be going. It's not that this doesn't have the potential to be really cool and some sort of great adventure that you only ever read about, or play games about. It's..."

He drew in a deep breath, releasing it as a sigh as his hand came up to brush a strand of hair away from Hart's face. "I don't want anything to happen to you. You didn't come all this way here for school to be dragged into whatever weird as s**t has been happening here. You're not supposed to be in danger."

Hartley blinked up at his friend as he was tugged closer before smiling as he listened to Afton's words. It always made him feel slightly fluttery when Afton said things like that and the feelings had only gotten stronger when he'd moved for school.

"But, I've got you to protect me. Couldn't be safer." Hartley knew Afton wouldn't really let anything bad happen to either of them. That just wasn't the kind of person he was.

Aft's brow furrowed as he looked at his friend, wanting to stay stern and cross but unable to. He sighed, reaching up to lightly tug at a strand of Hart's hair. He didn't say what he was thinking. He didn't mention that something could always happen when he wasn't around. He didn't bring up the whole 'what if something happens to me' even though it was incredibly tempting to do so.

Instead of doing any of those things he sighed, giving his friend a gentle nudge. "C'mon. We don't want to keep the cat waiting."
