Prosthetics? She opened her mouth, but the thoughts she had to stay remained on the tip of her tongue. She eyed his arm with a mixture of sudden understanding, awe, and a bit of nervousness. He seemed... quite proud of it? Maybe he lost it in a battle or something heroic and wow- he did it on his own? But she... Suddenly, the weight of her own robotic leg became apparent to her, and the emotional baggage it came with. Ignore it. Instantaneously, she beamed widely.
"Oh! Me? Well-" She tried to suppress a giggle and gave a dismissive wave. "I mean, nothing as cool as robotics!" She paused a beat, and then continued. "I specialize in hair! Cutting, coloring, styling. Sometimes I do other things. I mean- doesn't seem that useful here but- Trolls still need haircuts in space, right?" Elidae said with a loud, yet somewhat unnerved laugh, echoing her thoughts from earlier that reassured she would be welcomed into the military. Though it wasn't as if she was entirely incapable of combat.

"There's a gym?" Scorpa's interest was not hidden at all. She also wanted to check the canteen and see if the food was edible at all. Excited, the yellowblood bounced alongside the tealblood contently. She was so happy to be here she could be easily swayed into exploring wherever.
Maybe, just maybe, they'd catch a glimpse of Sarce around!
"I can't wait to get out there. This'll be amazing!" Scorpa gushed. Riding off the high of Superstar Authority had been a real treat. She hadn't imagined the extra bonus of getting a letter personally inviting her into the military yet! She'd cried like a wiggler upon reading it. Her dreams were finally starting to become real and she was not going to let this chance pass her by. She and her girls were going to get in, kick a**, and get on track! They'd show everyone they could do this and more! It all started here.

"Let's explore all of it!" Lorata threw in, linking her arm with Scorpa's free one to finish out the chain of Sirens. "The more familiar we are with our base of operations the better!" She was brimming with excitement and pride all her own, unable to keep the smile off her face. To be here, in uniform and all together and about to go into space, was as good as any story she could have imagined up.
And even beyond that, the promotions Scorpa and Flydra had gotten! Lorata had promised the world heroes. What better sign could there be that she was on the right track than having two of her dearest friends already at the Lieutenant level? It couldn't even bother her that they outranked her for now. It wouldn't long at all until they were all climbing through the ranks. She was just so proud!
"I especially want to see where your offices will be!"

Deciding she'd obey Sarcel's orders to go and interact with her fellow trolls was one thing, but actually following through with that once she'd stepped back out into the conveyor was another thing entirely. Nahori's face was a pale, ashen grey as she looked around the room. There were groups here and there, she could see two trolls by the vending machines (a blueblood, oh no), a group of twittering girls (a tealblood and a purpleblood, oh NO), and a few individuals milling about on their own (another purpleblood, OH NO).
Wait, okay, she could do this. She had to do this. Ignoring her Lieutenant's direct orders would only make them both look bad, wouldn't it? Not that anyone in the room actually knew what those orders were, but still.
Breathe, breathe, it would be okay.
After some hesitation, Nahori approached a few trolls. It was now or never, now or never, except she couldn't quite make it. She weirdly loitered nearby, occasionally taking a few steps forward, a few steps back, before trying the same thing with someone else.
Eventually, to her dismay, she'd found herself in the middle of the room having spoken to absolutely no one.

Mera stepped in with so much on her mind. Well, stepped in for real. Not long after her first walk-in, pulling on her uniform and all, she was assigned her lieutenant and was requested for a chat. She could almost see the ghost of herself come in and leave once more. A corporal then. Now...sergeant. Plus the Lightseekers. Plus...very imporantly right now...active daywalkers on the ships. Mera didn't know what to do with that. She was barely keeping it together over two large, somewhat conflicting, responsibilities. And now this? Very unexpected. Definitely not advertised. How many trolls were in the know? Like Lightseekers volunteering... She should at least check with Nucleo and Amonee. But where? Oh. She was a sergeant now. Those had offices, right? Maybe she could see them there... But surveillance. Hm.
At face value, Mera was milling about, but inside she was trying not to have a meltdown. So much, so much. Maybe too much.
As her thinkpan went on and on, she heard a familiar voice. A laugh. She turned, to see familiar horns and poofy hair. Genuine surprise made her stop dead in her tracks. "Elidae?"The good ship SS blackbird cake Th good ship SS Kimbley Kitty Hasn't noticed Leeroi yet but

"Seriously? That's so cool!" Leeroi's excitement was genuine, even for something so far away from his own interests. Perhaps it was Elidae rubbing off on him, but he was happy just to learn more about someone new. "I don't know anything about stuff like that!" he joked, making a big smile. "I'm sure you'll be really popular," he added, shifting his weight to stand a bit more casually. He laughed softly, playing with his own hair absentmindedly. A familiar tealblood approached them. Suddenly, Leeroi shifted back, chest puffed out, tense once more. Hemera seemed to know Elidae, apparently. And she hadn't even noticed he was there. That surprised Leeroi more than anything. Hemera was nothing if not astute and careful of her surroundings. Was it intentional? She was ignoring him, now? "Moachm." Leeroi's tone was curt. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, watching her with a dead expression.

Psykgi MenthaPsykgi had just gotten her new (maybe) spacesuit from the quartermaster, as well as all sorts of new military gear, and was feeling... mixed. She jumped out of airplanes for fun. Her Moirail was Leeroi. She was no stranger to being fearless and aggressive, and it was great. But space... The military... all of this... was different. I'll get used to it. she reassured herself, I just need to break it in a little. It wasn't as though she could have had any expectation of anything else, unless she'd somehow wanted to stay an intern forever. Haha, no. This was the only way to go, really. This, and higher education, and more internships and experience. Walking into the main area, Psykgi looked around. Gosh, but there were a lot of trolls she knew. She supposed that was just how it went on Alternia - eventually, you were just left with the ones that survived along with you. And you either want to hug them, murder them, or ignore them. Cases-in-point: there was Leeroi, right there flirting with... Oh gosh, was that Elidae? It had been a while - she needed to catch up. She needed to say hi to both of them, honestly, but she'd give them space and nudge them later because that was adorable oh my gosh. There were Lorata, Scorpa, and Flydra. She wanted to get in good with them and be friends (she hoped) so she should probably approach them anew in her shiny new uniform at some point. There was Eridia... Uuuughhhh.... Being, apparently, Eridia-as-usual. ******** talking to herself or something. I really don't want to deal with her right this moment, but I'll probably have to later. Psykgi thought. She kind of fell into the 'murder' category. Gonna leave that to later, oh my gog. She thought. She was not in the mood for her drama... or an altercation of that nature without her lusus handy. And then there were a few she didn't know - an orangeblood, a tealblood... I really should go and find the lieutenant I'm assigned to. she thought, idly brushing back the dyed strands of her hair, But I also kind of... don't feel like it just yet.So she went to the second-lowest blood in the room instead. "Hello, hello!" she said, approaching Nahori cheerfully, "I'm Corporal..." The rank sounded strange in her mouth. Another thing to get used to. "Psykgi Mentha! What about you?"

The greeting made her shoulders tense. Lost in her own thoughts, Nahori never imagined someone else would take the initiative and interact with her first. She supposed that saved her the effort, but the shock was definitely there. With a deep breath, she looked up from her shoes.
"Oh, um, hello..." A redblood. Her expression softened a touch. It was considerably easier to talk to other lowbloods, but when her mind labeled everyone past her own color a highblood, that never left her many options. "I'm... Nahori Caviap."
The rank thing wasn't something she was used to, either. It felt weird to even acknowledge it, though she wondered if Sarcel would be upset with her for neglecting to.
"Nice to meet you."

Cpl. Psykgi Mentha"Oh my gosh, it's nice to meet you too, Nahori!" A glance at the orangeblood's rank told her that she actually outranked them... but if the other one wasn't going to introduce themselves by rank, then she wouldn't either. Not right now, anyway - they were just talking after all! Plus, technically everyone outranked her caste-wise so... why bother pulling it on an orangeblood? "Are you excited about this whole goshdarned thing?" she asked her, "I sure am!"Well, okay, not that excited. Slightly terrified, actually. Still uncomfortable. But at the same time, the doors that could be opening in front of her! What a time of opportunity... ... If she survived, haha!

Excited was just about the furthest thing from Nahori's current state of mind. Any other time she might not have felt uncomfortable admitting it (at least not to a friendly redblood), but she continued to weigh every move she made against what she thought Lieutenant Cincil would've wanted. Blurting out that she was scared and full of self-doubt didn't seem like a good idea when she was trying to present herself as a capable soldier.
"It... is sort of, um, exciting... isn't it?" she lied straight through her buckteeth. "I never thought I'd be... g..oing to space." Controlling her stutter was difficult whenever she thought of something particularly frightening.
"I wonder how long we'll be up there..."

Cpl. Psykgi Mentha"Neither did I!" Planetside girl, that was her. That was supposed to be her. But, gosh, I'm going to do it. I'm going to go to space. Don't really have a choice in the matters so I'm going to be excited because that is what it is!"Oh, I don't know!" That was a good question, actually. She couldn't bring her lusus with her... Not officially, anyway. Ma'am would find some way to do it, if she knew how her lusus 'thought' and you couldn't really stop a swarm of cockroaches from doing anything that it put its/their hivemind to. Still, for all the comfort that having her Ma with her would give her, it could get her in trouble even if there were only a few roaches. The brooch in her pocket would have to suffice. Still, being away from her lusus, her main safety fallback, was a problem. She didn't want to be away from her - or at least from her Ma's main bulk - for long. "I feel like they're going to be short missions, though. Send us to the place, send us back? None of us are trained for proper space travel, so... Well, we're probably only going to get a taste of it!"Which was... actually reassuring.

"Oh." Surprisingly enough, that seemed to perk Nahori up a tad. "You might be right. Especially since, um, aren't there civilian volunteers going, too?" Ah, she remembered the good old nights when she'd been one, unburdened by the worries of straight laced military life. It had been a whole... few hours ago. She put a hand to her forehead. Don't get melodramatic.
"I don't actually know if we're supposed to go on missions with them or.. just.. other soldiers and stuff, but..." For a moment she went silent, glancing around the room at the faces of trolls she mostly didn't recognize.
"Though I guess... it's like you said. We probably don't really know anything they don't."

Cpl. Psykgi Mentha"So I heard! I don't know how that's going to work out..." volunteers could make things tricky... or interesting. Like the wistfulness that she read on the orangebloods face. Wistfulness for what, though? "But even if they aren't in space with us, maybe they'll make our lives a little easier." The military would find some way to use them, right? "We'll probably be better prepared, you know... if they are coming with us." she thought for a moment, "So maybe not."After all, the military would want to demonstrate that joining up was preferable to being uncommitted to the empire. All good little trolls joined the military - and Psykgi knew all too well how persuasive the military's presence could be. One could only resist joining for so long.

This whole situation, quite honestly, felt like a bunch of what ifs stacked on top of one another endlessly. Maybe it was just Nahori's propensity to doubt everything, but- "I guess we'll find out when it, um, gets closer to time to leave... and all that."
Hopefully that wouldn't come too soon.
"It would be... good if they can help us. More hands will... it'll make the job go faster. Probably." Speaking of hands, she was fiddling with her own. This wasn't a question she thought she should ask, but it slipped out, anyway, "You don't... think anyone will get hurt, do you?"

Cpl. Psykgi Mentha"It usually does - teamwork means less work, thats what my lusus always says!" well, Ma'am phrased it slightly differently, but that was the basic gist. But what kind of question was that? This was Alternia. They were in the military. They might not be going out to fight an alien foe or anything - to Psy's knowledge - but getting hurt was a part of life. And, if Psy had learned anything from the big ol' military-sponsored get togethers, there was probably going to be fire and stress. "... Well, gosh, that sure is possible. But lets just make sure its not us." Psykgi said, trying to be reassuring without giving the other troll a pat on the back. It was hard - Psy liked to communicate through touch, but just how much was appropriate here? Meh, whatever. "And, if it is us, she added, "Not too badly."
