"Deal." Kieran took the skewer and blew on it, "Smells good at least." He teased lightly, "So here's hoping that they taste good as well." Slowly and carefully he bit into one and glanced Taijana's way. He hoped she enjoyed it as well. Not that he had spent hours making food and then freaking out this morning over it...him do such a thing? Never. A slight flush warmed the back of his neck as he twisted the skewer in his hands, "It's nice out this afternoon." He commented quietly as he glanced around at the afternoon sky. Lazy clouds floated slowly on through as the sun flickered in between the puffs of white.
Then growing unusually quiet the man focused on eating his food, "I also have desert in the bag as well, nothing too crazy just some chocolates and fruit from the market." Also he had a bottle of strong spirits in there, but Kieran figured he would save that for later...whether it would be to celebrate or to make him forget about how he could screw up tonight. Hopefully it would be for the former and not the later.

Taijana used the end of her skewer to prop it in place on the ground while she went after the sweet potato first. Casually she sipped at her water, easing the tickle that had started in the back of her throat when she hovered over the fire. They looked so sweet and delicious that it was hard not to try them first; and she was glad that she had. Taijana closed her eyes and relaxed, moaning into the bite a little. When she'd eaten enough of it to speak, she turned to Kieran, "This is amazing. I've never had sweet potatoes before."
She'd been the primary cook in her own household for years, but nothing she'd made had ever had so much flavor to it. Most of her dishes, than the majority of yael, were bland and meant to simply act as nutrition. But this reminded her of the mainland, and seemed fitting that Kieran, out of any yaeli, would be he one to make it.
Seeing the thoughtful look about him reminded her of the earlier unease that surrounded him, and it gave Taijana pause. "Kieran are you okay? You don't look well."

Kieran's gaze glimmered with faint amusement as Taijana ate the food. While he was relieved it did nothing to lessen his flush to hear her moaning into the bite of food. Not that it was loud mind you, but when one's mind was on how attractive their girlfriend was well....that made him slightly more sensitive to things than usual. Coughing into his hand Kieran turned his gaze away and nodded, "I'm glad then. I know they're hard to find here, but I found one farmer who had traded for them from a mainlander." If anything he had learned a bit about food as well on his travels and for that he was grateful. It was nice seeing Taijana enjoying his food.
At her question the man swallowed his last bit of food and sat quietly for a good moment before finally glancing her way again, "I'm alright, just thinking." He forced a small chuckle, "Just lost in my thoughts is all..." Trailing off Kieran bit the inside of his cheek nervously before finally taking a deep breath, "Actually Taijana...I wanted to talk to you about something." The Yaeli's gaze sought out her own before he continued once again, "After all the recent events I've been thinking..."
Kieran placed his skewer in the ground and brushed the dirt from his pants nervously, "Sorry, I had this prepared but being actually in the moment changes things." He laughed quietly before reaching over to touch her shoulder, "The fear of the Dretch made me realize how much I wouldn't ever want to lose you." The Yaeli's gaze glimmered behind his glasses, "We've been through a lot together and even though it's only been recently that our feelings have finally come to surface I realized that this whole time I was reliant upon you being there. Maybe you weren't always physically with me but just knowing that I had someone waiting for me, thinking of me and even sending me small letters here and there made me so happy." Kieran chuckled and gently poked Taijana's nose, "Regardless of whether or not you think you were a burden you were quite the opposite to me when you came overseas. I was alone for so long that I had forgotten how nice it is to have someone near me, especially when that person cares so much for me and I for them. You made me see the world in a different light, to realize that I do have a home and family again...with you. All these years I had spent roaming these foreign countries simply to run away from the fear of committing myself to someone else, to having to risk heartbreak. Finding you, however, made the risk worth it and I'm so happy to love again."
Kieran's cheeks darkened, "So if you would allow me I have something for you, a little gift to thank you." The Yaeli whistled and soon a small sound emerged from nearby bushes. From beneath the shadows of the tree a little creature darted out, a little wild and klutzy at the same time since it was young but still adorable, "I know you can't charge into battle on him just yet, but I hoped you could raise him and he could become your protector while I'm away on any future journeys." The little limbara let out a small happy squeal as Kieran reached over with some treats from his pocket, "Here..." He handed the treats to Taijana, "Introduce yourself to him and he'll need a name of course...there's also something around his neck for you as well if you would like." He added in quietly as he watched Taijana for her reaction.
"Because the limbara isn't the only one who would like to be closer to you." He teased lightly, "I would very much enjoy starting a real home Taijana...if you'll have me." Kieran's cheeks flushed as he waited for her to see the simple silver ring hanging from the ribbon. Silver with little shards of violet crystal from the cave embedded in an engraved pattern of swirls that went throughout the ring. In the center was a larger crystal fragment, one that while not being completely white still was a lighter hue of violet than the darker shards decorating the ring's body. It was for her answer and reaction to that item that Kieran waited for.

This...wasn't good. Taijana sat down on the log closest to him; within arms distance, but also not entirely as close as she might have been otherwise. Anytime someone had told her 'they needed to talk' always ended in tears, and hurt feelings, so she wasn't entirely ready for that, especially given how wonderful this evening was going...
What could she have possibly done wrong? Biting her lower lip, she waited patiently while he spoke.
As time passed she found that he was just nervous to speak to her, and that she hadn't actually done anything wrong which was... a strange place for her to be in. Normally this sense of confusion and fear was flip flopped, with Kieran taking care of her when she was anxious. She reached up to place her hand above his own as it rested on her shoulder. So he was afraid of the dretch; the poor dear. Surely he knew that she would do all she could to stay by his side-
Taijana was already tearing up. It wasn't everyday that the person you loved laid their soul bear and told you everything you meant to them. It was...quite possibly the most beautiful admission she had ever heard and one her heart was ready to accept. When the little limbara came to them, she all but felt her heart leap out of her chest. Her hands dropped away and fluttered to her mouth, trying her best to stifle a squeal and failing spectacularly.
The little one was beyond adorable and she couldn't contain herself. She couldn't stop herself from crying then. "Kieran how did you..." How could he have possibly kept this little one a secret? She took the treats with shaky hands, jumpy and emotional all at once. Hesitantly she held them out to the little one and watched as he nibbled. She encouraged him to come closer, then to lean to the left so that she could see exactly what was around his neck....
Oh Gods.Was that...?
Now Taijana was flat sobbing. It seemed to unnerve the little limbara, simply because he wasn't used to her moods yet, and she stroked his snout to calm him. She gently freed the ring from the ribbon hold it around the creature's neck, and shakily slipped it onto her finger. She could scarcely see the patterns for her tears, and all at once she launched herself at Kieran, knocking them both over the log onto the ground, thankfully on the opposite side of the fire.
"Y-you-you- YES. I would love to m-m-ma-marry you." She wanted to tell him that the only reason she'd been able to go so far in life was thanks to his support. That if he hadn't been patient enough to see her through that she may have remained in her mother's home, squashed under that woman's thumb for the rest of her life. She'd been so much in such a short amount of time because he wasn't afraid to go where other's hadn't, and for that she loved him beyond compare.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips, for the first time unafraid of the god's wrath. Because surely a proposal was as good as the actual marriage itself? And it wasn't as if she wouldn't welcome any two headed children with him; any child she would have with Kieran would be blessed, but she just knew that the Gods wouldn't punish them that way. They would see the love between them and maybe, just maybe see fit to give them a pass.

While it was only a matter of moments before Taijana replied for Kieran it was an eternity. If it wasn't for her hand resting on top of his Kieran would have been afraid that he had pressed his luck - she was even tearing up! The reaction to the limbara had him smiling, "Lots of careful planning." He interjected quietly as she interacted with the baby limbara.
For a moment he didn't register her acceptance, "You....wait....yes?" His own gaze filled with tears as they laid there on the ground and the man found his arms wrapping tightly around Taijana, "Thank you." He whispered before kissing her in turn. It was strange how after all the adventures he had in all these strange lands the feelings that Taijana just brought in him beat anything he had experienced so far, "We'll have a ceremony... He managed in between kisses, "A home, a family....everything." And even though both of them were covered in dirt and laying on slightly damp ground he couldn't be any happier. This woman was going to be his wife and they would one day even start their own family full of laughter and light and little ones running around.

"Yes, yes, yes!" She whispered against his skin every chance she got, when their lips weren't locked. The words were breathless, and hurried, excitable because in that moment she was truly elated. There was no true way to express what she felt; joy, confusion, relief that someone had went out of his way to pick her, of all people, to be his partner in life...
...to pick her to start a family with!
A ceremony where all of Pajore could come if they wanted to; she would invite neighbors, friends, even random strangers. It would be an event to lift their spirits in the wake of such terrifying times. Maybe things were turning around; maybe, with all of the darkness in the world they could finally be shown a little light....
Oh, how Taijana wished this moment would last for an eternity.
