Fred shrugged. "I like fighting. I like making clothes and s**t. Looking to find ways to use what I know to help out here." He avoided mentioning he was really good at breaking into places because that wasn't really the way to make friends.
"There's sex too, obviously, but I've not...seen many women since I got here."

"I'm not particularly skilled at fighting, which for a place like here, seems to be somewhat of a disadvantage," said Merric, sounding somewhat uncomfortable about this fact, expression a little frustrated; it smoothed out to interested a second later. "You make clothing? That's really good to know. Do you fix them as well, or just make them?"
Merric did like to look presentable; and apparently the same penchant for well styled clothing ran in both of the Roswell twins, though admittedly in different ways.
The mention of sex had the blush burning. Merric said, trying to keep his voice from wavering, "I - I've seen plenty of women around, there were several at this, um, dare night that we had around here last month. I'm sure there are...some that you could find."

"Then you need to find someone who can do the fighting for you." Fred said matter of factly. It was the way things went, he'd worked for plenty of people who hadn't known how to fight or get down to dangerous business, they specialised in negotiating or planning and that was fine, not everyone was a fighter. He was just a fighter.
"And a bit of everything, tailoring, adjusting, making, fixing." It was something he'd always enjoyed, even when it seemed like a bit of a ridiculous talent in his former company. He'd done his job and he'd looked damn good doing it, his self confidence not letting what other people thought dent him in the least.
"Oh man a dare night?"he said eagerly. "******** love dares, I'd have loved to get a piece of that. Is it a regular thing?"

Merric frowned.
"How exactly would that work..?" he asked, though it wasn't an irritated question, merely a confused one. "As in...hiring someone to go do fighting for me, instead of fighting myself?" His fingers flexed, just a little, at his side as Merric gave Fred a slightly weak smile. "I'm not so sure that would go over so well in a place like this."
Besides, it wasn't like he had anyone willing to do that, and he was pretty sure he'd be called a coward by more than one person. Merric's smile eased into something a little more relaxed at the clothing talk. "I might have to ask for your assistance then at some point, it's difficult to find anyone here that knows how to take care of clothes."
Thinking of the dare night made him think of other things that he was definitely trying not to think of, which circled back to thinking of the dare night in a lovely vicious circle of confusion. Merric cleared his throat and said, "I'm not entirely sure, but it seems like it could be. People seemed to...thoroughly enjoy dares."
The corners of his lips quirked, just a little. "You and your brother both are into the dares, then, aren't you."

"Yeah exactly." he said with a grin. "A hired fighter, you gotta arrange things to your own benefit. If you don't fight well then find people who do. You say it wouldn't go down well here but has anyone ever tried it?" He shrugged.
"And yeah I'd love to help out, clothes are something I really enjoy, one of the main things I asked when joined was if I'd need to cut my hair or wear a uniform. Mercifully not."
He nodded. "And ******** yeah, dares are great! You get to see where people's cowardice lies in a good game of dares."

Merric considered this for a long moment, frowning in thought. "I don't...actually believe anyone has tried it, come to think of it. I mean, I suppose the most likely pair of people to do it would be Roswell and Lysander, but I doubt Lysander would go that far."
Or maybe he would. Merric was not entirely sure he could say that with entire conviction of its truthfulness. He was, on the other hand, glad that he could say truthfully, "I do think that having anything involving sewing on the island would be useful. How would you go about setting that up, exactly, any idea?"
He did not want to think about cowardice, although since Roswell had pointed out Merric's continual inability to say no to things, maybe that was just another form of it. Merric said, "Well, yes, I...yes, that's true. Or their nerves, is another way of looking at it. There were a few people that did turn down dares that I saw."

"Pfft. Lysander and Ros. I'm a better fighter than Tom." he said. "I'd be a better bodyguard than he is any day." He looked smug about this.
"And I guess I'd need a workroom, a runic sewing machine, some other kit, I don't know how you go about getting that stuff and I'm still not getting wages yet. Something I want to do though, I just have no idea how you get anywhere to do anything."
"Anyone who turns down a dare deserves to be tarred and feathered, I've never turned down a dare ever and I've had some real stonkers."

Merric couldn't help a little smile at that. "I haven't seen you fight of course, but Roswell seems to be the type not to back down from things - especially a good fight, and it seems you're similar in that regard. Lysander seems no fighter at all," he added, head tilting. "But then, neither am I."
Even with the similarities, Fred and Roswell were not the same person and did not even remotely act the same. Merric said cautiously, "I've heard that...that there's someone on the island that's generally willing to help newer hunters with loans and money to start businesses."
A wince passed across his face. "But he seems rather...well, I've not had good experiences with him, but he's been here a long time, perhaps he could help with a tailoring shop."
Merric had not yet received his wages either, come to think of it. He gave Fred a curious look and asked, "None at all? You haven't turned down any dare, regardless of consequences?"

"Yeah we aren't too different, we know how to handle ourselves, always have. Lysander from what I hear is scared to so much as say boo to a goose, so its a good thing he's got Tom. And you have them both too right? As coworkers or whatever? I'll keep an eye out for you around the island too, you seem like you could use a bit of protection."
He did however seem to perk right up at the prospect of funding and help for his idea. "I think anyone is worth dealing with if it means getting the things we could all use." Fred wasn't really one to be afraid of anyone, no matter how negative their reputation was that preceded them. "I'll speak to them and see, you never know, and I'd just man, I'd love to have a shop. Tom and I used to talk about it but ...things got in the way. More lucrative things haha. Thanks for the heads up though mate."
He shot a fingergun at Merric. "Nope. Never turned down anything I could ever do. Why, you thought of something that you think I wouldn't do?"
