Lys didn't seem to have much of an end to what he could eat and happily made his way through some of the food. "Yeah I invited him but he might just be on a duty or something. And yeah if I borrow the sauce he'll clean it. It's what he's paid for." Paid a grand total wage of not much at all.
"If you make more things though I'll bring him round, he'd be happy to get some of this sort of thing." He refrained politely from saying that Roswell liked weird foreign and elaborate food and would probably like her weird cooking.
"English is best." he said with all the certainty of someone who had grown up immersed in complete bias. "So at least you learned that."

After a minute of being amazed at the man's appetite, she stood up, letting him enjoy the pancakes. She began to wash the dishes she'd been using to make the food. "Indeed." Her tone was rather dry at the last half of the statement, and she focused quite hard on the pan she was scrubbing, so that he wouldn't see the disgust that crossed her face at the idea of him not even being willing to wash one freaking bowl. She managed to control her expression again, and she looked up, her brows lifted as he spoke. "Well, certainly I will keep that in mind. It's worth having multiple taste testers, in the end... Especially if some one has any experience with Korean food, and thus might have an idea of how it's supposed to taste." She didn't comment on the fact that Rhys had priority anyways, because she'd made a promise, nor on the fact that she'd be far more likely to go out of her way to invite Roswell then Lysander, in the long run. "I... see." That comment about languages earned him a blank expression, the kind that said 'I am choosing to not let you see what I am thinking in anyway.' "I still would have preferred a chance to learn another language, especially Korean. On the rare occasions I was permitted to speak to Father's parents, it was a difficulty, as neither spoke very much English." She sighed, softly, reminded of all the things she had wanted to learn.

It took all of his willpower to save a few for Roswell and with great restraint he sat back. "That was really good, thanks." He couldn't really say please but at least he'd been taught to remember to say thank you. "And maybe the people without experience of the food are best because for them its an honest opinion of what is good rather than what some old recipe says things should taste like." It was worth a shot.
He nodded. "I didn't know much about my mother's family and dad's family were all pretty....well like my brother and stuff. Very business. Business as a hobby as well as a job. It wasn't that great." he shrugged.
"You are stuck here now, maybe its a good time to learn Korean? Plenty of boring guard duties."

She glanced at him, as she put away the last of the dishes, and gave a half of a shrug. "I'm glad you liked them. Annnnd maybe. Maybe, but I am of the opinion that one should do the recipe right before experimenting on how to improve it." She made a slight face, and added "I'd have liked a chance to know more about this stuff, along with the language. But.. meh. It is what it is. Life sucks, then you die." She tilted her head, listening quietly, keeping any judgmental opinions she might be having of him under as many wraps as she could, but she wondered inside if he knew how god damn lucky he was too have gotten to know them at all. "Mayyyyyyyybe I will. Right now, I'm hoping Dr. Morris will take me under her wing. I never got the chance to pursue my education the way I wanted, and I have been told she knows the field I dreamed of going into."

Lysander nodded. "That's a bit of a grim way to put it." he said, but wasn't about to argue with things how they were right now.
He had no idea who Dr Morris was or what field she specialised in and wasn't inclined to ask because he always knew that discussions of academia turned into people giving him long boring lectures on fields he knew nothing about and had no desire to know anything about. Maybe if it was horses, but it probably wasn't horses.
"I don't know what I'd learn if I could." he said. He'd hated every minute of university and had no real desire to go back to any of it. "I guess I wanted to do an equine degree, but my parents weren't having any of that."

"Grim, yes, but... realistic." There was quiet bitterness, not directed in anyway, and she just shrugged, and put the various ingredients away, feeling drained by this. "What, exactly, would an equine degree be?" She asked, sounding utterly baffled, never having heard of such a thing. She got herself a glass of milk, and drank it, fairly fast, before moving back out of the cooking area, to gaze at him with a single, lifted eyebrow. "But is horses all that interested you, then?"

"It would be the sort of thing where you learn about horse management, ailments, things like that. Running a stable also or a horse business. I mean I knew it all just from experience but I felt like doing a degree in it would be really great. It'd almost be like not studying at all!"
He shrugged. "Well I mean, horses are my main interest really but I do like other things like religions and things like that. But I guess I don't have too many interests, I like to sleep, is sleep an interest?"

She listened, brows drawn together as he explained all of this. She'd had NO idea what all went into horse care, and running stables. Finally, she gave a "Huh." in a baffled tone. "Not the kind of thing I ever experienced. Closest I got to horses, back home, was seeing them in... yards? I guess? Of some of the wealthier families in town who indulged their kids in lessons, when walking to school." She was trying not to think about how her parents probably could have afforded one, if Dai had ever expressed interest. "Never had a chance to like... meet one up close, let alone ride or anything, so it's definitely outside my worldview." She tilted her head, curiously. "World Religions? Generically, or anything specific? Again, something I only have limited experiences with. We had mostly Christian-variants in my tiny little shithole of a town, pardon my language, and I think a Sikh temple. Other then that, there were the Goth Teeny Boppers who claimed to be 'Pagan' but mostly just lit candles and prayed for stupid nonsense like the Quarterback to make an a** of himself in revenge for his mocking them, which from what little I could find in the library, didn't fit what they were claiming to be." At his question regarding sleep, she lifted her eyebrows high. "I'm pretty sure that's more of a way to escape reality past the point of 'meeting one's needs', but sleep IS nice, especially if your bed is comfortable, and you've got something or some one to snuggle."

"They are the best animals in the world." Lysander said earnestly.
"And it was world religions yeah, though I'm most interested in Western religion mainly because it's easier to wrap my head around and something I've experienced." However something changed in his tone at her comments about the pagans she'd known, taking it a little personally and setting any enthusiasm he might have expressed about his own religion aside.
"Well I don't have a bed or someone to snuggle but I still really enjoy sleep." he said.

"I always liked cats, myself. Never had a pet, though, of any kind. Closest to that was watching the squirrels in the yard." She gave a shrug, acting like it didn't bother her. It did. It bothered her a lot. But she was pretty good at hiding her feelings, so she doubted he noticed. He seemed to be good at that. "Oh. I wish I had more experience with that. I'm pretty sure that what I read on anything NOT Christian was mostly judgmental nonsense." The change in his tone caused her to frown just a little, and she added "I suppose I'll read more about these things if there's books on it here, especially the Older religions that most of the books talked down on. But I do know that all of those kids grew out of their claims to be pagans. I respect people who hold fast to their beliefs, as long as they don't force them on others, but treating religion as a fad or whatever those other kids were doing is just disrespectful." There, maybe that would fix whatever it was she'd said? She had no idea what offended him, but the rudest comment was about the gothbrats. She looked surprised at him. "They didn't give you a bed? What the hell, man?" She sounded stunned. "And yeah, no I don't have a snuggle friend either. I don't feel comfortable enough with anyone here for that." She sighed and shrugged.

Lysander didn't catch the subtle nuance to her comment about pets, primarily oblivious to most things.
He didn't bother to keep going along the thread about religion, simply knowing that it was too sensitive for him as a topic to keep it up. Instead he focused on the other things.
"Well I have a bed but it's hardly good enough to even count as one. It's just bad. And it's too small. My feet always get cold."

His comment on his bed earned a lifted brow, as she studied him thoughtfully. "Mmm yeah I'm guessing you'd need something custom to fit on it fully. Still, it's better then the ground. Sleeping on the ground sucks." She shrugged a little, and said "Mine's no worse then what I had at home, so I guess it doesn't bother me. But regarding your feet getting cold... I suggest fuzzy socks. If your blankets don't reach all the way, the socks should help." She didn't like the man, but she couldn't seem to help herself. However, she was feeling drained, keeping up the politeness for so long. "I do hope Roswell enjoys the pajeon. I need to head off now, I have duties in the morning and I'm feeling quite tired all of a sudden. Do have a good evening, Lysander."

Lysander nodded. "Yes, I need to get more socks frankly, not enough here. Until I can get a bed that isn't terrible." He didn't look forward to sleeping at night very much as a general rule.
"Okidokie" he said brightly, giving her a big smile. "Thanks for the food, I appreciate it." he said. "See you later."
