The SmokerAfter the debacle that was the Elementor class, Henry makes his way down to the city, where he decides to visit the bakery. There, he buys a muffin and a glass of water, and sits down at one of the outside tables. He then proceeds to slowly eat and drink, just wanting to pass the time by for now.

Still under the impression that Zael was meeting Cyrus to collect his book for him, Tala followed his urge to purchase something from the bakery and so left the Academy grounds in search of said establishment.
It wasn't too hard to find his way, Tala only had to follow his nose before he came across the little sign picking the Bakery from the other stores. Making his way over, he wasn't paying too much attention to the people seated outside and headed straight for the door, it was his intention to slip in - provided it wasn't too busy - get what he wanted and then make his way back to the Academy.
The streets didn't seem too busy for that time of day, so he could only presume that it was a quiet lull before everyone else left their lessons... Pushing open the door, he would head inside, taking a moment to breathe in the smells before approaching the counter to glance across the spread of delicacies.

"Have some bread" Yesterday's apple tart didn't sell as well as the cheesecake she made. Rather than throw out what was leftover, she put the rest in a basket and delivered them to the closest church. The people over there will make better use of her leftover goods than she will. Today she has a new special: sweet cheese tart. Cheesecake worked surprisingly well, so why not make it into a tart? Along with the usual baked goods that her bakery served, she took soft cheese, pare it clean, and grind it in a small mortar, added four beaten eggs and mixed it until was smooth. She added salt, sugar and butter to the mixture and mixed it well before pouring the new mixture into a pie crust and baked it in the oven for close to an hour. She decided to only make three of these tarts for now just to see how people respond to it.
With the morning rush over, now she can see how people have responded so far. One pie is already finished, so not a bad start for a special of the day. A young man entered her bakery and purchased a muffin before stepping outside to eat it. There was a foul aura surrounding him. Not that Roselyn is thinking that he is a suspicious character, but perhaps he is not feeling well. She ought to do something to brighten his day, so she cut a slice of the sweet cheese tart, wrapped it in paper, and brought it outside to him. With a smile on her face, she said to him, "You look like you need something sweet. Tell me what you think of it when you're done."Roselyn went back inside the bakery to tend to the other patrons who were seeking to buy bread and other goods from her bakery. Just as she gave a break to the lady who was working at the counter, another boy entered the bakery and made his way over to the counter. She will handle this one herself. This boy seemed to be in a better mood than the one who is outside. The SmokerWhile brooding a bit and trying to enjoy the muffin, suddenly one of the staff comes out and hands him a sweet, apparently free of charge. "Oh, um...thanks," was his response, as he had been caught off guard and couldn't really think of anything else to say. He offers her a bit of a smile before she heads back inside, then goes back to finishing his muffin before he turns to the sweet cheese tart. That was nice of her...at least not everyone here's a complete b***h. And kind of cute as well...but I'll stay out of her business for now.

Tala Maxwell ~ Bakery ~ Tala lifted his eyes from the selection and had to admit, he was a little overwhelmed by the array of choices he could make, still, the coin jingling in his pocket as part of a 'living allowance' delivered to him by one of Baba's Pets was definitely not going to go to waste in this place.
"Hey, Uhm...Well you see, I'm not actually sure what to choose," he reflected her smile, beaming back with his own - something he'd not done too regularly in his past, "They never had such a selection back where I'm from," he continued to look across the wares, stepping aside if anyone else wanted a look before lifting his gaze again, "I've got a bit of coin...so could I maybe have a selection...or some suggestions?" Like a kid in a candy store, he just couldn't choose, they all looked so tasty!

"Have some bread" It is not surprising to have someone come into Roselyn’s bakery who is not from here. Wherever this boy came from, it is unusual for him to see an array of baked goods like the ones she has in her bakery. She does bake quite a bit since the rich and poor come in all the time to buy what she has, so more options is good for her and her guests. She does understand his confusion and will do her best to guide him through what she has available. She cut some pieces of some things that are available for purchase: wheat bread, cookies, biscuits, etc. She set down the pieces on some paper and put places them in front of young blonde male."This is just a taste of what we normally make here. Give it a try. Tala Maxwell ~ Bakery ~ Tala had never been offered the opportunity to try anything - at least not without some sort of catch, but he had to remind himself he wasn't at home anymore and that not everyone was out to extort their buyers. Cautiously, watching the female warily at first, he took up a piece of wheat bread - the smell was enough to get his mouth watering and the texture as it melted on his tongue was something entirely different - maybe that would be desirable for breakfast some time? He would make note to sneak down before classes one day to try it again,
Next, he would take a piece of cookie - he'd considered coming here for that exact thing first of all, but having been exposed to such sights, he was now starting to wonder if he couldn't just bring back a selection which they could share out later. "Whoa..." it was a a different flavour from the ones Zael had shared with him, it was by no means similar to the tasty one he'd received after class either... Again, he focused on the texture and the taste, enjoying the moment before reaching for another sample, "I'll definitely take some cookies," he didn't want to overdo the samples - although having not eaten that much during the day, it would certainly start to fill a gap,
He would sample a few more offered pieces before the female made her offer of the sweet cheese tart, "Can't say I've heard of that before," he tilted his head, trying to think of how someone could make cheese taste sweet... It was as he took what would be the final sample - he didn't want to seem greedy - that Tala would come to a firm decision, "Wow! I'll definitely take two slices of that!" he nodded, watching as the female would get to work collecting his selections.

"Have some bread" Roselyn watched as the boy sampled what she brought out onto the paper before him. Each bite he took got a positive reaction out of him, which allowed her to retain her smile. It is a good feeling to see someone enjoying her baked goods. Already she is going to sell some cookies to him, which is good start. She had mentioned the sweet cheese tart special, so she cut a small piece of the tart and gave it to the boy to try. After eating that small bite, he already settled on buying two slices of tart. She packed the cookies and tart slices into two separate parchments and quickly calculated how much he had to pay for. She wrote down the cost of the cookies and tarts on one of the wrapped up parchments and showed it to him before saying,"You made some excellent choices today. I do hope I will get to see you here more often. Tala Maxwell ~ Bakery ~ Tala would take the goods and hand over the payment before taking a moment to slip it all into his backpack, "Oh, don't you worry!" he beamed, "I'll certainly be back, but maybe at the more quieter times...heh," he would rub the back of his head, glancing around nervously as the shop gained a few more customers before shooting her a final smile and heading for the door, "Thanks again!"
He would wait for an incoming customer to step inside, holding the door for them before slipping out into the fresh air... well, the initial breeze was fresh, but there was a hint of a scent carried towards him that made him tense...at least until his eyes backed up that he wasn't seeing the old guard, but rather the student from the Elementor class, "Uh, hey there," he would wave, unsure if it was wise to advance, or leave the fellow to his dessert, "You were in the Elementor class, right?" The SmokerHenry's quiet would be broken by the other customer speaking to him. He glances at the boy for a moment, making sure that it was him being spoken to. "The operative word in that was "were", I'd imagine. As in, past tense." He turns back to the treat which Roselyn had given him, finishing it after another few moments. "Though if you're here to talk about THAT, I won't stick around for it." He leans into the door of the restaurant and waits for Roselyn to be looking somewhat in his direction before offering her a wave. "Thanks for the tart!" With that, he heads off. ((Exit))

Tala Maxwell ~ Bakery ~ Tala had to admit, he was a little taken aback by the short shift he received from the male, he had of course only come over to say hi and perhaps offer some support and maybe a cookie, but if the guy wanted to be like that, then that was his choice - besides, he was probably still reeling from being snapped at by the tutor...
"O-kay..." It wasn't much different from the reception he would receive from some of Baba's old patrons when he turned up for an 'exchange of goods' ...and he wasn't about to forget the guards either, anything you wanted, they'd treat you as though you weren't there, or perhaps the dirt beneath their feet which needed scraping off with a sharp blade... He would watch as Henry leant through the door, offering the female behind the counter some gratitude for the tart he had received, before heading off...
"Strike two..." stuffing his hands in his pockets, Tala breathed a sigh, realising that not everyone was the ray of sunshine he'd first been led to believe... First the scolding he'd received from Reynard Balgaire, Captain of the guard - then, if he could put the two together, that Cyrus guy...subtle force with words, yet quite happy to pass the buck so Tala was left not only questioning himself, but feeling as though he was the guilty party... And now, Henry... Rolling his eyes, he breathed a sigh and put the experience behind him, having learnt not to let gruff people get to him too much.
He had no real destination in mind, but not wanting to forget about the confectionery in his backpack which could easily be squished, Tala decided to head back to his Dorm Room and see if Zael had been in luck retrieving his book...

Patrick Lockheart - Second Year ~ Exited Patrick and Henry's Room, Entering Marketplace/Bakery ~ Patrick was quite happy to be outside, breathing deep the cooling air from the rain whilst watching as Branwen took the time to stretch her wings, flying ahead and sometimes even circling the pair as they made their way towards the Bakery.
He was still a child at heart - and his brother's bad influences certainly didn't help, but Patrick decided for now to resist the urge to step heavily in the puddles that they passed, choosing instead to admire the water that dripped from the trees, rather than pull down the branches and soak his comrade like he would have done his relatives... The world was beautiful at a gradual pace, but at the same time, he was enjoying the company.
Eventually, they would arrive and Rick would nod in gratitude for Henry opening the door for him. After ensuring Branwen would wait outside for them, Rick flanked the male as he moved towards the counter before taking the offered parchment listing things available for purchase; scanning the offers before looking towards Henry for inspiration, "You've been here before, got any suggestions?" the Bakery was a fresh sight and the smells that enveloped them upon their entry were just heavenly. "Have some bread" Today, earlier in the morning, business was booming a bit more than usual. Roselyn took note of the bigger presence of a younger crowd coming to her bakery. The students from the academy must be having a free day from their studies so they have time to go out and get something to eat. This doesn't happen all the time so it all depends on the pocket money they have. She will have to keep making observations to determine more or less when this sort of business will happen so she can make something special for the students. All of them work hard toward their studies, so it only feels right that she reward them with something tasty to eat. The special for today is a strawberry tart, and as expected with her tarts, people are buying them quickly. Fortunately she still has a couple of tarts leftover for the slower crowd and she can take time to greet her guests and have a conversation or two with them. Just as she finished helping one person, two more came in, one of them she recognizes from a few days ago. She had given him something sweet to eat since he looked like he wasn't in the best of moods. So far he doesn't look upset, so perhaps today has been a better day so far. She walked over to him and the other boy he is with, gave a warm friendly smile, and said,"Hello.
