"This piece of s**t just keeps getting worse," he said, scowling at the legs that seemed to appear from the blob of its main body, not to mention the tendrils. It was like it came straight out of an alien slug-infested nightmare. The trainee dodged the golem's attacks as best he could, but he felt the sting of a number of small hits on his legs, tripping him up as he tried to lunge forward and attack. It was good that he was able to catch himself before he fell flat on his a**, otherwise who knew if this thing could absorb him.
Rhys stepped back to regroup and shake the thought off, then looked over at Oliver. "I'm not gettin' a very good feeling here, Ollie. Can I call ya Ollie?" Probably not a good time to ask, but there was nothing like bonding over trying to kill things that were trying to kill you right back.

The moment Rhys had stepped back, Oliver's axe was swinging towards the water golem once more, a wide, horizontal swipe that the creature avoided with ease. It seemed to collapse in on itself, briefly returning to the puddle it had likely been created from, only to reform once the axe had passed. It lashed out with fresh tendrils, and Oliver had to block it with his free arm. He wasn't distracted by Rhys' conversational attitude, but the casual question within was unexpected. For a second Oliver fell out of that calm and composed state, glancing at Rhys with nervous surprise. "Um, I-I suppose," he replied meekly, thinking it was certainly better than Princess. HP: 44/50 DMG: 0 Charge: 0/3 Golem HP: 10/10

"Ollie, then," he said as he stepped forward to take his turn at the thing. Rhys jumped toward the head full of stalks-for-eyes this time, swinging his blade in series of directions to hack away at as much of the thing as possible. He took some hits in exchange for the effort, but it sounded like it gurgled out a cry of agony as some of its stalks and tendrils and even one of its squelching legs fell away from its body, leaving nothing but harmless puddles where they landed.
The brunette felt himself kind of puff with pride as he pulled back to take a breath, but instead of grinning he just scowled at the sight of the now mutilated slug-thing. It looked even worse now, if that was even possible.

Oliver was hardly giving a good account of himself, but fighting had never really been his strong point. At least the golem was starting to show signs of weakness and vulnerability, the pieces Rhys had severed failed to reanimate. So hacking it apart seemed the way to go. The Lifer circled to one side of the golem and darted in for a quick slash, but it followed the motion and oozed away from the giant axe once more. "Maybe you can get in another good hit," he said, willing to become bait for the lashing tendrils if it meant the thing's back was unguarded. HP: 42/50 DMG: 0 Charge: 0/3 Golem HP: 3/10

Rhys watched as the thing maneuvered easily around Oliver's attack, curling his lip at the idea that it was able to dodge a hit with a giant axe so well.
"We can try," he replied as he dashed forward and tried to take out a few more tendrils. Much like it had with Oliver just moments earlier, it oozed away before lashing out with those damned tendrils, forcing him back.
"You take the head, I'll go for the tail?"

He clearly wasn't enough of a distraction to let the trainee get in another solid shot, the golem seemed prepared for their attacks now. "Would you call this side the head?" He asked almost wryly, darting in for a quick lunge at the creature. It slipped easily past the axe blade and flailed harder with recently sprouted tendrils. They thrashed around even after Oliver had backed out of range, angrily seeking a target. HP: 40/50 DMG: 0 Charge: 0/3 Golem HP: 3/10

He smirked and just shot off in the opposite direction, sword at the ready as he tried to get a good hit in. He missed, terribly, and got slapped around by a bunch of flailing, pissed off tendrils before he managed to get ********, dude," he muttered, tempted to end the sentence with "we suck" but figuring that wouldn't do anything to boost morale.

The moment the creature was distracted by Rhys' retreat, Oliver jumped in and cleanly severed it's top half from the bottom. This time the golem simply fell apart, sloshing down into a puddle that drained off into lower ground. His shoulders slumped with relief. "That... shouldn't have been so hard," he said with a self-depreciative smile, rubbing the back of his neck. HP: 38/50 DMG: 5 Charge: 0/3 Golem HP: 0/10

Rhys gave a whistle when he watched Oliver and his giant axe completely just slice the thing in half, relief washing over him as he made his way over. "Made it, though," said the brunette as he gave Oliver a good clap on the back. "Good enough for me."
With a quiet sigh he pulled out the stabby sample gathering spear that he'd tucked away before they had to take care of the golem. "So," he said as he fiddled with it a bit to get to spit out the vial full of the sample, "we need more of these or what?"

Oliver barely stumbled over the clap on the back, safely pocketing his own collected vial of golem water. "A couple more, I think... But maybe we should look for smaller golems," He suggested with a wry smile. Clearly the practice wouldn't hurt. _ p a o cx Late, but have an official wrap post. ^o^
