"From head to toe?" Kanika blinked a few times and chuckled softly. "You're already a daughter of Elzira silly, we both are." Pyrrha had one heck of a character about her. "I don't think the elders would approve if you told them that, no the elders would probably smack her and tell her she was being silly. "But, you could tell them it's for spying and I think that might pass a little easier on them." Kanika wondered how the others wouldreact to a green Elira walking around the village, she would stand out from the Alkidikes as well.

"It would be unwise to go out very far withotu weapons yes," Kanika agreed evenn if she didn't approve. If both of them had been able to get weapons perhaps they could have, but right now as it stood she could not. "Let's take the safer option for now, we never know with the Dretch around what we might stumble one and I don't think you're apt for fighting just this minute. I am also unarmed and it would be dangerous for us." She couldn't want to get her hands on some weapons. "Lead the way."

Not as much of a daughter as what Pyrrha would have liked. She'd always imagined it would have been much nicer if they had been born with vines instead of additional antennae; something to truly bring them closer to Elzira, instead of another reminder of their alkidike past. Perhaps one day her daughters might have them; the elaria had yet to ask for any blooms themselves, so who knew?

"They rarely like any of my ideas, so I try to keep them to myself, anyway. It's a lot nicer that way."
Pyrrha smiled, moving to walk further into the woods. If she kept quiet about some things then they couldn't shoot them down, and mentally, she could stay a little happier for a little while longer.

"Oh, we could get my bow, but I've lost it again. My sisters used to help me keep track of it, but I can't seem to find it these days..." She mused. Even after starting her training as a Sacred Heart Pyrrha had her quirks, and without family members around to ride her on them she'd slipped quite a bit. "I wonder if the toad people got it...."

She picked her way over loose stones, and upturned roots, pacing herself so as not to push her still wobbly legs. The feeling was back for the most part, but because she had hung for so long Pyrrha still wasn't in the best of shape. Best not to take off running, or even to walk backwards, as she liked to do.

"What kind of training do you do, Kanika?" That's what her sisters asked one another, right? Normal, elarian conversation; definitely something she wasn't used to. "Are you partial to swords, a spear, a bow or.....? Well, that's it, really, not much more than that."

Kanika didn't comment, she understood why some of Pyrrha's ideas may have been seen as a little out there, but perhaps if they worked with her they could come to some kind of amicable solution. Just like the green hair thing, Kanika saw the practicality of it but she didn't think the elders would have. They were Alkidikes after all, and perhaps they did not understand the Elira as well as they thought they did. That was why they needed to have their own elders that understood them and their true nature. They just needed to be a bit patient and there wouldn't be any Alkidikes left anyway at some point on the island.

“We can look for it,” Kanika said quickly, fearing for Pyrrha's sake that she had been so long without a proper weapon. “You haven't been going out weaponless have you?” Especially with the Dretch it was particularly even more crucial for Pyrrha to have a weapon.

“I train mostly with one of my mothers,” much to the chagrin of the elders who didn't like the idea. “We have been training for a very long time with swords.” Kanika sighed softly, still slightly bothered by the feeling she had received that day. “She recently gave me her swords, I promised I would only wield them when I was ready.” Such a thing wouldn't be for a little while yet, but she was happy to have them even if it had felt awkward to receive them.

"Oh yes, most definitely." She had been out just as many times with her weapon as she had without, possibly even more so. If she could travel before the Dretch then she saw no reason not to now that they were here. After all, the dark mages could pop in, grab her, and portal out far faster than she could draw her bow and any earthling threat would be dealt with as it came. "A bow can only do so much, Kanika."

She led the elarian to an area that many of the younglings had been told explicitly to avoid and for good reason. For within a few hours walk from the camp was a crevasse, hidden in the trees. It stretched out for leagues, jaw open and roaring with the water from an underground river. Crossing it wasn't an issue for an adult; it ran the length of the island, she supposed, but one with long legs could walk over it. A little one, however, would slip right down into the void....

"Are you ready? Swords are heavy, the oils you clean them with smell, and it takes a strong will to hit someone hard enough to hurt them. My sister was ready, but I-" She stretched one leg over the crevasse and straddled the opening. "-am not. Now come; you can hear Elzira loudest when you stand here. She can speak through the water."

“Pyrrha, that's really dangerous.” Suddenly, Kanika felt a lot older than she was. “What if something happened to you and you couldn't protect yourself?” She worried a lot about what could happen to her sister, you never knew when something might happen. “Yes but it could save you or give you a few minutes to escape.” It was true a weapon could only do so much for you, but still it was an added layer of protection. Kanika wouldn't report her sister to the elders, but she really was going to try and persuade her to keep better track of her bow.

Kanika followed Pyrraha closely until she was certain the other would be okay to walk and her legs were working fine again. She did recognize the area her sister was taking her to, it was a well known by the younglings, Kanika very rarely if ever ventured here. She wondered why they were coming here. As far as she knew there wasn't exactly anything special about the area. Still, Kanika decided to just follow along since she was enjoying a day away from practicing and she wanted to keep an eye on Pyrrha.

“Really?” She was skeptical but soon followed soon, sitting right next to Pyrrha and listening to the water rushing below them. “I think I will never be ready,” she answered truthfully. “I want to know about the world, I plan on traveling. Once I know everything there is to know, then I will be ready.” Only then. “Do you ever plan on leaving this place? To see the outside world, to learn?”

“Pyrrha, that's really dangerous.”

Yes, she supposed it was. Standing above the abyss as she was, with the cold air creeping around her calves and thighs, Pyrrha had to wonder what truly constituted as a 'risk'. Surely this wasn't something her elders wanted from her, but here she was, regardless of their feelings. It wasn't as if she ever paid them much mind before, and she decided in that moment that she really didn't care about them now, either.

"Who can say?"
She mused. "I think one day I would like to see Jauahr, but if I go further than that then I won't be close to Elzira anymore. I love the swamps, the trees, the rivers....I can't see myself surrounded by too much sun or sand....I don't belong here, with them, and yet, this is the only place I do belong. So where am I to go with that?" She posed the words as a question, but her mind was already millions of miles away from any sort of answer.

"Elaria are meant to be by Elzira's side," Kanika nodded slowly. "But I also think we should see the world, we cannot keep our eyes closed to the outside world. It will weaken us and ultimately destroy us." she sighed softly. "The Elders are doing their best, I can see they are, but that also doesn't mean they always know what's best for us. Only Elzira and the other Elaria know this." The Elders wanted the best for them, but as the Elaria grew older, someday they would have to give their seats away and Kanika didn't think they would give away their power so easily.

"So you just keep your head low so the Elders don't notice an one day they won't be there. But this is your home, with us the other Elaria." Kanika gently placed her hand on Pyrrha's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "I plan on leaving this place to explore once I am a bit older, you should too but always remember this is home. We're not like those others outside, never will be and that's okay too." The Elders were going to throw a fit when they learned she wanted to leave.

The alkidike had sacrificed a lot to come here, but ultimately, their time was swiftly coming to an end. The youngest of their lot was Pyrrha's age, and just like the animals, they would all meet their end. Soon enough the Elaria would be free to do as they pleased, which must have been both terrifying and gratifying to the alkidike; she could imagine their pride, especially since this was a species that wouldn't have existed without them, and also a great fear.

After all, how long would her sisters bow beneath them before they decided enough was enough?

"I won't live like that, Kanika. It's why my mothers thought it best that I not be a part of the family anymore, and it's the sole reason I'm living on my own. I'd rather everyone be happy, but if that means we have to do what it takes to push ourselves forward....then I'll do it." She looked at that reassuring hand with a smile, and knew they would be alright. So long as women like Kanika existed the elaria wouldn't fade away; they were here to stay, and maybe, one day Pyrrha's ideals wouldn't look so strange.

They just needed to hang on a little while longer.
