It felt like Rhys was just cleaning up the shadowlings that managed to skitter away from the edge of her blade with each attack, which was fine with him. On this course he felt more like a supporting character than a lead, so he was alright with just having her back. He swing his blade in a crisscross motion, catching shadowlings on both sides as he went, making sure he was never too far behind her so they couldn't get between them like last time.
"You good?" he called while kicking a weakened stray one into oblivion.Status Wave: 2Attack Dmg: 6 (Chg: 2/3) Total Shadowlings taken out: 7 Recoveries left: 1

She did a low swinging slash in front of her, and as they fell down, she gave a fierce laugh of pleasure. "I'm doing all right so far. Not going to tempt fate, and claim to be doing better then that..." Her eyes glittered with fierce determination. "You?" "Good to hear it," he said as he caught some more creeping up behind her with a swish of his blade. "I'm doin' so-so, I guess. Gettin' through it, y'know."
True enough, it was a lot like his first run--easy kills but low numbers. Zephira was telling him to pick up the pace, but he was mostly just not paying her any attention.Status Wave: 3Attack Dmg: 3 (Chg: 3/3) Total Shadowlings taken out: 10 Recoveries left: 1

She had a grimly determined grin on her face as she managed a swing that beheaded three more of them, and she said "As long as you're not going down, Rhys, you're doing more then fine in my eyes... and frankly, I appreciate you watching my back." Rhys sidestepped and stomped onto one shadowling before grinned in her direction. "So far so good, then."
He wasn't feeling the exhaustion yet, but he knew it'd hit him like a brick wall as soon as they got out of there and he just started vegging out on his bed or something. He sliced through two more before he caught up to her, making sure to stay just a few steps behind. "As for watching your back... anytime, dude. Anytime."Status Wave: 4Attack Dmg: 3 (Chg: 3/3) Total Shadowlings taken out: 13 Recoveries left: 1

"Good to know... Having some one I know will watch my back is a good thing." As long as she had some one she could trust to do THAT, she knew this would be a lot less terrifying, even as she had been trying to avoid admitting it. Nothing was quite as scary when some one was there to help. "And the reverse is true, if you need it." It seemed her determined will to complete this thing this time had paid off, she was at the last ranks between her and the portal. She swung her sword through a small group right in front of them, managing to make a space wide enough for people to get through. "YESSSSSSS!" "Thanks," he said a bit shortly as he slashed through the last of the shadowlings that were trying to creep up on them. He kicked and sliced through a few more before it was clear enough for his taste. Rhys stepped forward and went straight through the portal leading back to the observation room.
He dismissed Zephira and stretched out a little bit, checking out his clothes to see if there was any gunk or gross shadowling leftovers on any part of him while he waited for Seren to show up. He probably should have let her go through first, but...well. Too late now.Status Wave: 5Attack Dmg: 6 (Chg: 3/3) Total Shadowlings taken out: 19 Recoveries left: 1

She jumped through the portal shortly after Rhys, and dismissed Diwata, before slumping down in a chair as the adrenaline ran out, and the exhaustion hit. "Oh. Oh wow. Suddenly a lot tireder then I was a moment ago. Whooooo." She took a slow, deep breath, then grinned again, her head leaning back against the wall behind her chair. "********, I can't believe I made it all the way, though. And you. Damn, you're tough. Twice in a row!" She shook her head at him, a grin on her face, then sighed, before doing some more deep breathing, trying to cool down.

Rhys had already taken his jacket off by the time Seren popped through the portal, and he gave a nod before slipping his scarf off too. All these layers didn't do anything to help him cool down any faster.
"How I do," he said with a grin, obviously mostly joking. He was down to just his shirt, jeans and sneakers when he threw his other sweat-dampened clothes onto an empty table. "You did good though, damn. I wasn't counting but it looked like you got a lot of the little shits." And he was genuinely impressed but too tired to express it any better than that.

"You sure about that?" She teased back, clearly meant in a light hearted ribbing kind of way. She blinked, and eyed his clothing pile, before nodding. "Good idea..." She tugged her jacket off, and dropped it onto the chair next to her, along with her scarf. She eyed her shoes and socks, shrugged and tugged them off. She didn't figure Rhys would be all that comfortable if she took more off, though she wouldn't care. She had no issues with being nude, or nearly, around others but she knew many people had hang ups about that stuff. "Thanks... I did my damndest, and I'm glad it paid off." She had been counting, but she wasn't going to boast of her numbers to him. It seemed crass to do, when he'd been guarding her back. "Thanks again for goin' with me." She stood up and stretched, then sighed, looking at the door. "Think it's still pouring ********' rain out there?"

"No problem. Call me if you want a partner for any of the other courses. I'm always down when I've got time." True enough, Rhys spent most of his free time either sparring, doing a training course, or doing a workout at the gym. If it wasn't doing those things he was probably napping because naps were good and he loved taking them.
The question of rain got a sigh out of him as he looked toward the exit with a pretty hopeless expression. "Probably. The weather's been an absolute b***h and it doesn't look like it'll let up."
And though they were still cooling down and it was likely raining outside, he couldn't help but ask as he reached for the clothes he'd left on the table. "Race ya to the dorms. Loser owes the winner a favor."

"I'll definitely do that. I need to get myself into better shape. My stamina, I'm not worried on... But I need to work on muscle, I think. I can REALLY feel how heavy Diwata is when in battle. I know I'll be workin' at the gym, and on the training field, a fair amount in the near future." She gathered her things as she spoke, bundling socks, coat and scarf together for washing, and holding her shoes.
"Wow. I'm not used to this much rain. We had a drought on back home... When I left anyways. Not sure now. But hopefully we'll get some breaks on it soon."
His little race bet suggestion was met with an amused smile. "Sorry, son. I'll be enjoying the walk back. The rain will help me cool off more, and the walk will cool the muscles down better then a run. I'll see ya later!" She waved, and walked out the door, in a relaxed mood for the moment.
