Gannon had to admire Lerato’s positive outlook and his determination. But he had to wonder how many relationships the musician had been in over the years. In Gannon’s limited experience, there was always a euphoric rush when a new relationship started, but that feeling slowly faded away leaving one of the partners dissatisfied with the lack of passion in the relationship. Gannon had always been the one on the relationship that had cherished the other person for who they were, therefore he’d always been the one to end up with a broken heart. He hoped that this wouldn’t be the case with Lerato.

Smiling at Lerato, he gently grasped his hand for a moment before looking toward the window. The sun was nearly set, which meant that soon the fireworks would begin. He suspected that Lerato wanted to view them, and he didn’t blame him – they would be a sight to see. Deciding to push past his discomfort for crowded places and loud noises, he arose from his seat, taking care to help Lerato up from his seated position as well. “Let’s head back to the festival. The fireworks should be starting soon, and I’m sure you’d like to have a real meal today.” Not to mention he might want to visit with his musician friends…

Heading for the door, he stopped at Brageet’s perch. Kneeling, he angled his shoulder close to her so she could climb on as well. Soon, she would go hunting for her own evening meal, but not until after the fireworks, when it was safe to fly. With his companion on his shoulder and his boyfriend at his side, the trio headed out the door and back toward the city center for the end of the night festivities.

The sun had set as time passed by between them, meaning the fireworks show would be up after an hour or so. Lerato accepted Gannon's assistance after a small moment of hand-holding, having to tidy up the things they used before heading out. The fairy tale book was returned back to the shelf, back in its proper place as always. The owner of the house was into keeping things organized and he always kept that aspect in mind. At Gannon's words about the fireworks, he chuckled, voice as sweet as honey.

“Colorful fireworks are always there to brighten up the festivities at night. Maybe we can just have beef stew as supper together with some bread. There's one stall that sells it and it was delicious.” There, he had made a little suggestion since it was possible that his colleague may not have noticed it yet. After that, they headed out to the door, Lerato still carrying his satchel, as he watched Brageet perching on Gannon's shoulder. If the musician friends would be back to check on the two, the talk would only last for a few seconds. It would be, once again, best to grant the two the time of their lives all for themselves.

And as they exited the house in the forest, he recalled the memory of his parents taking him there to watch the fireworks. Sadly, they wouldn't come here during this time, but having his boyfriend and owl by his side was close enough for company.

The court mage decide to drop by the forest to visit his boyfriend after a few days of being busy, carrying his flute case. After the elective class, he went back to training in his office and he smiled, knowing that he was ready to showcase the ballad to Gannon. Lerato was glad to wear something simple yet nimble; capes would get caught in the branches and it would be a nuisance to suffer such fashion disaster. More importantly, the weather had improved compared to the last two days, meaning it was suitable to head outside. On his first course of action, he decided to show up at the other's house so that way, the boyfriend would be in for a huge surprise.

But as he attempted to open the door, it was locked. Lerato resorted to knock on the wooden frame several times, but there was no answer. It would mean two things; either Gannon was still fast asleep or he headed outside earlier to the forest. Whatever the case, he had no choice but to wait, so the court mage decided to just lie down near the gardens. The blades of grass were soft against his back as he made himself comfortable there.

And as he closed his eyes, waiting patiently for the other to arrive, he heard the chirping of the birds. But even Lerato would be in for a huge surprise once he would be called out.

-Enter Gannon and Tala from Eoana Forest to the Home of Gannon Noble-

Stepping out of the tree line, Gannon looked back toward Tala, who had stayed several paces behind him for the entirety of their walk back through the trees and brush. He didn’t know why, but it was apparent that the student was wary of him – as if he expected Gannon to strike out at him at any moment with harsh words or fists.

Releasing a small sigh, he had to wonder if Tala had been abused in the past – it would explain his reluctance to interact with him or accept any aid, even if he needed it. Frowning, he hoped that now that Tala was attending the Academy, that he would learn that all of the students and staff were very accepting.

Distracted, he led the way toward his cottage, only to catch sight of a figure lying the grass. Narrowing his gaze, it took him a moment to recognize Lerato, who seemed perfectly content with soaking up the sun, surrounded by wild flowers. “Lerato? Is that you lounging about in my front yard?” He called, teasing his boyfriend a bit.

Tala remained rather distant both in pace and in mind, but was determined to keep Gannon in his sights so he could avoid any chance of getting lost again...He was already rather drained, so it was imperative he remained somewhat alert, at least until they found their way back to civilisation... When they finally broke through the tree line, the young male would lift his gaze, wincing at the sunlight before smiling slightly, glad to see it again.

Although somewhat distracted, Tala would be quietly taking note of the route back for later needs; his hand drifted across unmoving objects as he passed them by, taking in their touch whilst at the same time keeping an eye on the male leading him to...Where were they? He seemed to climb out of his detached state as they approached a house and he paused, tilting his head slightly as Gannon started to address someone lying in his front yard.

Perhaps it was a detour back to the Academy, that would make sense, he nodded, taking the opportunity to sit down by the perimeter fence/wall and rest a while... "Seems a perfect enough moment to..." He would have taken the opportunity to catch up on some reading whilst the pair talked...that was until he realised he was without that one thing he'd clung to since the library... "Oh Gods..." a sudden feeling if dread washed over him and he pushed himself back to his feet, using the wall to steady himself as he rose, "I need to go back." he turned around to face the way they'd come, his hands placed firmly on the wall as he tried to retrace their steps in his mind... He would glance over his shoulder at this point, determined to return for the book he'd borrowed, yet really not wanting to disturb the pair's conversation... Depending on how attentive they were, he decided he would attempt to slip away when the opportunity arose and return to search for the book he'd lost.

His reverie of peaceful days, the inspiration for the possible next composition, was interrupted by Gannon's voice calling out to him. Hazel orbs were finally shown as eyelashes fluttered open, taking focus on his boyfriend. However, it turned out that he wasn't alone; Brageet's owner actually had someone accompany him, and it was due to an emergency. The musician sighed; so much for the private time alone with his lover, but the student had to be taken care of right at this moment. Lerato had to stretch out his arms high before rising up, groaning in sync with the release of tension. He inspected the student's look for a few seconds before speaking.

"Well, that's a nice surprise. No wonder I have to wait," he spoke, eyebrow raising in slight suspicion. "I guess that student was caught into trouble and had to endanger his life in the process. How reckless of him. He deserves an explanation." Lerato then strode towards the door, providing space so that it would later be unlocked by the owner of the cottage himself. "We'll let you go as soon as you get fixed up and tell us how in the world you end up getting banged up."

His tone was a bit intimidating, but he should restrain himself from exploding further. After all, telling the other to get out would not be wise since the student would just be wandering around without any idea on how and why he ended up in such an area like that.

Hearing Tala’s words, Gannon looked back toward the student. He wasn’t about to let the kid go back into the forest, even if he looked well enough to walk on his own. He needed to be examined by Vivian at the Academy Infirmary, no excuses or exceptions.

“Tala, you’re going back to the Academy.” His tone, previously soothing and friendly, was firm. Looking toward Lerato as his boyfriend arose from the grass, he smiled slightly. It was nice to see his lover after so long – he’d begun to wonder if Lerato had changed his mind about them spending more time together.

Lerato’s tone and his words suggested that he wasn’t pleased by the fact that Gannon had had to go into the woods to rescue the student. He hadn’t minded, but he had to wonder if Lerato was being a bit harsh. “For now, we should take him to the Academy’s infirmary and make sure he doesn’t have any injuries. After that, we can find out why and how he got lost.”

Looking from Lerato to Tala, who still seemed determined to go back into the woods, he sighed. “After Vivian gets a look at you, I’ll escort you back into the woods, if you really need to go back inside. But until then, you’re coming with us.” Nodding toward Lerato, he turned to lead the way to the Academy Infirmary.

Two months had passed thus began the Winter solstice festival. Two months, and a few days, Elohari had taught lessons. She seemed to quite enjoy herself as well. Days melted together effortlessly, unknown to her just how quickly everything seemed to be passing. Today began a break for everyone, including the professors. Elohari finally had time to enjoy the cold weather. Back home it snowed, but typically only once a year or so. It wasn't popular, to say the least. It would chill, but never enough to create snow. Knowing this, she was ecstatic to enjoy the festival.

But she didn't wish to go alone, no. It had been some weeks since she had seen Gannon, despite living quite close to each other. They had said hello in passing but never a full conversation. She had made some extra friends since then, but to be blunt, it was Gannon she wished to see. Donned with red velvet laced with gold trimmings and the most beautiful cloak, she snuck her way through the forest to greet her fellow neighbor.

She would knock three times, her breath was hot, causing clouds to float from her mouth. Entertained by such things, she looked up and watched her breath creat said clouds. To when Gannon would hopefully open the door, he would note her new attire. Along with her thick, deep red velvet dress, came another star-struck cloak. This time it counteracted against the deep red with such a deep blue it should be illegal. The cloak was covered in gold, much like her dress, but made such a lovely pattern. But perhaps the second, or first, the obvious statement was her no longer dreaded locks. She now sported luscious locks that draped down her back, bits pulled further away from her face, secured with gold sort of a broach, drapping just the same. Her hair length was impressive, surpassing her hips, hitting just below her buttox if someone were to notice. Her cheeks flushed with the cold, overall giving yet another beautiful masterpiece.

A nice quiet evening at home. It was exactly what he needed and all he could ask for. After two months of what seemed like endless work, he was finally all caught up. The winter break was perfectly timed and now that it was finally here, he was going to enjoy it. The Festival was a grand event; however, it wasn’t one that he would partake in. The last festival he’d been to, the Fifth Anniversary Festival had been pure torture for him. He’d suffered an anxiety attack almost immediately after arriving and thus, he and Lerato had had to leave. No, he wouldn’t be partaking in the event.

Instead, he was going to enjoy a good book, some delicious tea and a warm fire. Which was exactly what he was doing when three knocks sounded on his door. Frowning a bit, he looked down at his book with a sigh. “I’m never going to get to finish this book…” He whispered to himself, much to Brageet’s amusement. <<’Just answer the door, love…’>>

Arising from his chair, he headed for the door. As he opened the wooden barrier, the cold air rushed inside, hitting him in the face, blowing his hair back a bit. His shirt, a bit lower cut that his normal clothes, didn’t protect his skin from the cold. Shivering a bit, he was distracted for a moment, but only a moment. As his gaze moved to the vision standing before him, he couldn’t help but stare.

“E-Elohari? Come in…please.” Ushering her inside, he was quick to close the door and push out the cold with it. Turning to face Elohari, he caught sight of the back of her elegant cloak. It was just as lovely as her Autumn cloak – a deep blue that he found matched the night sky perfectly. “You look lovely this morning, Elohari. Is it a special occasion?” Part of him knew that it was for the Festival, however, she looked rather elegant for a simple Winter Solstice Festival… “Would you like some tea? Or perhaps you wont be staying long?” She certainly wasn’t dressed for a social visit. Perhaps she had something to report to him before going to the festival…

Thankfully Gannon wouldn't allow her to stand out long, the chill had begun to seep into her bones already. The door would open revealing Gannon to her. She seemed confused for a moment, eyes immediately going to the man's outfit. She so used to the layers upon layers of fabric to see him in such a casual manner... threw her off. Bless the lords for it being chilly as she hoped he wouldn't note her pinked cheeks. Both seemed to stare at each other for a moment, her eyes slightly wide, her lips agape.

Gannon would be the one to break their silence. Her eyes unglued themselves from Gannons attire and pointed downward, a hand brushing against her hair that escaped her pin. She smiled sweetly, but embarrassed as she walked in at once. "Good morning Gannon." she spoke hastily, collecting herself. She'd take a breath in before turning toward the man, eyes finally ready to gaze upon him once more. "Excuse me?" She inquired, caught off guard. Her hand nervously dropped, hiding beneath her glorious cloak. She cleared her somehow scratch throat "Oh uh.... Yes! The... festival." Her usual calm demeanor seemed changed, she took another sharp breath in "I was hoping to pester you... into coming along with me." Elohari spoke with a hint of nervousness.

"I've uh... never been to these so-called festivals." she attempted to coaks her reason, though she was unsure if that was the true reason she was here. "New to here, friends are scarce thus far." she twiddled the edge of her cloak. "And going with you..." she paused. Uncertain on how to word this "Well," she huffed out "I'd like to go with you."

Gannon had never seen Elohari so unsure. Was she nervous about something? It didn’t take long for him to realize why – she wanted to ask him to accompany her to the festival. At the mere idea, he began to feel nervous. While he understood that she was new to the city and the culture, he was apprehensive about accepting such an invitation, especially considering his last experience.

“O-Oh…In all honestly, Elohari…I wasn’t planning on attending at all.” He said with a small, apologetic smile. “It’s not that it wont be a festive event…I just don’t do well with loud, crowded places.” He explained with a heavy sigh as he moved back toward the fire. Looking down into the flames, he contemplated telling her about his previous experience. It wasn’t a fond memory and he didn’t like admitting that he had such a weakness.

“The last time I attended such a popular event, I had to leave shortly thereafter, though not by choice.” Brageet chirped a bit at that, drawing his attention. <<’Oh just tell her! She’s not one to judge harshly. She’ll understand.’>> Sighing a bit, he nodded. Looking back toward Elohari, he took in the full view of her. With her hair brushed out, it was far longer than he’d imagined it to be. He had to wonder if she’d ever cut it…He liked the dreaded look, but with it long and loose, it gave her an even more elegant, ethereal quality. And her cloak…it truly looked like the starry night sky. He could only imagine what dress she’d chosen to accompany it. As of now, her cloak blocked his view of the garment, but if she chose to stay a while, then he might get a chance to see it.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he raised his gaze to her eyes. “During the last Festival, I experienced an anxiety attack. I panicked and fled from the mass of people that had surrounded me. It’s really quite embarrassing to admit.” He doubted that she’d want to have him accompany her now, especially if it meant him turning tail and running back home part way through.

The two both seemed confused with one another. Both appearances seemed to surprise each other, which was quite comical if an outsider would to see. She begun to regain her composure with a few short breaths, posture had straightened out and soon she had enough courage to lock eyes with the male. It was unlike her to be so... nervous. But not unheard of. But it was rare. She would take in his expressions and knew already by his posture something was aloof.

His body had already tensed up and retreated, her face expressed concerned as he began to speak. He was turning her down? She was once again caught off guard. A small frown began to plaster on her face. It wasn't judgement on her face, but there was something there. Listening and watching, watching for cues. "That is a regret." She spoke, hints of blues inched into her voice unknowingly. Her fingers brought together and began to fidget once more.

"I do though..." Elohari spoke, taking a small step toward the fire he hid toward. "Still wish to convince you." she said hopefully. Her head tilted over to Brageet as she chirped, her brow arched lightly, looking between the two. That drew Gannon away from the fire and to glance once more at Elohari. Her dress hidden beneath the large decorated cloak. Her hair blocked quite a lot of it, being so long, but with each step and each sway of her hips, the cape would be visible to those that dared look.

Gannon seemed hesitant at first, to speak his mind. Elohari attempted to edge his words on with a hopeful expression, but it was Brageet who did the best. He sighed and locked eyes once more with her. An anxiety attack? Elohari furrowed her brow slightly. "Theres nothing to be ashamed about, nor embarrassed." Elohari spoke, voice trailing off as her fingers continued to twiddle "Fear is something everyone copes with, some better than others... but it should not prevent you from experiencing possible joyous moments." Soothing she spoke.

Elohari’s fidgeting was…endearing. She seemed so unsure of herself now that he was telling her of his hesitance to go to the festival. It seemed, that she deeply desired them to go together. He had to admit, that he greatly enjoyed her company and greatly appreciated the offer, but he knew what would happen. Did he want Elohari to see him in such a vulnerable state? Did he want her to think even less of him? Not really. Could he say no to her request? Probably not.

Releasing a sigh, he glanced over at her with a frown. “I suppose you’re right…” Gannon didn’t like it. He didn’t like it one bit. But what Elohari had said was exactly what he would have told one of his students. He couldn’t live in fear, he needed to cope with it and test his limits and that meant going to the festival, even if he didn’t want to.

Hands on his hips, he turned to face Elohari. Shaking his head a little, he looked toward the window. It was cold outside and snowing lightly. He would need to change if they were going to go to the Festival together. “I can’t make any promises, that I won’t turn tail and run back home if I become overwhelmed. but I will accompany you for as long as I can.” He didn’t know if this answer was sufficient or not, but he hoped she would see that he was trying. “I’ll need to change into something warmer…” That being said, he headed for his bedroom to pick out an appropriate outfit.

Rumors had an odd way of getting around the academy but Jei was oddly thankful for that. He would have never found out what Gannon was going through otherwise. It took him all night to debate if he should visit the court mage to express his condolences for poor Brageet, worrying that he would seem like a nosy creep if he randomly showed up to his colleague's home...buuuuut....it was Gannon himself that pointed out where he lived when they were meandering around town. He only lived a few houses down too. With his mind made up, Jei visited a few gift shops with the idea of picking up a gift for him and his owl.

Time eventually brought him to where he was now: standing awkwardly in front of Gannon's door bearing a gaudily wrapped gift basket stuffed to the brim with owl treats and sweets for her human companion. Moopsie pawed at the door, glancing up at her master as if he was being an absolute moron before relentlessly scratching at the wood. "Alright, alright. I get it, Moopsie. Quit being dumb." Jei said with a chuckle, balancing the gift basket in one hand while rapping at the door with his other. He waited patiently while glancing down at his now satisfied furry friend. She stood with vigilance at the door, her floofy tail giving a happy wag as her ears twitched. Jei found it amusing that she picked up a few dog qualities just from traveling with him and observing other creatures.
