Night Stroll
She broke her stare. Right, that was probably rude, yeah? A subtle shake of her head and she returned the smile as best she could with the face mask still clasped over her mouth. Which was a little difficult, as always.
"You think they look for that when asking us to join up?" It wasn't surprising to hear someone else having some of the same problems. It was more than a running trend here.
"Like some kinda weird check list..." She plopped herself slight adjacent of the other, loosely crossing her legs.
Okay, this was gonna start to get awkward if she didn't just straight-up ask. Her eyes kept darting back to the cigarette. She couldn't help it, honestly!
"Soo... You got any more of those?" She pointed to behind one of her ears with slight hope raising her eyebrows.

shorelines and dunescapes"Something keeping you up? Isn't much to do here but sleep. A lot of people do it all day just resting in the shade or sun." He asked, look out at the water and letting his mind drift with the sound of the waves. He was exhausted but the nightmares were unpredictable and terrifying.
"Well until I pass out here, I can keep you company. Wanna chat?"Beejoux Accidentally quoted wrong person at first. Sorry blue.

Those Remaining
"What do you want?" Alicia deadpanned back at Zeke, unperturbed by the hint of irateness that was apparent in the Mist hunter's tone of voice and the look that he was giving her.
"So you're just going to roll over and give up just because he's gone? You don't even know for sure if he's dead or alive somewhere out there."

the last oneThere was a long breath, considering -- and then Ever reached out to pluck the last cigarette out of Zeke's fingers and turn it over between his own, slow and thoughtful, savoring the moment. The smell of it made him sigh. "We should take our time. Draw it out. Get used to the feeling of wanting it without going cold turkey." And with that, he looked over it to Zeke. "Maybe you should distract me." I know you...The time frame made Vasily frown again, eyes raking over Zeke -- assesing him, considering the nicks and dings that time as a hunter had left on his body, both literally and something deeper. Overall, Vash didn't look that impressed. "How old are you?" It was a rude question. He didn't seem to care. beejoux I think you meant fourteen not 04 for zeke's awakening XD

night strollHe made a curious sound at the question, before shaking his head. "I doubt it. this is a recent problem for me, not something I had to deal with before coming here." Very recent, and hopefully temporary. She took a seat, settling in, and that was fine. He didn't mind the company at all, and she seemed at least interesting enough, if that mask was anything to go by. He had actually opened his mouth to ask about it, stopped as she pointed at the cigarette behind his ear. So much for just pretending he hadn't noticed her staring. "The thing about that is, they aren't just mine." Technically they were. They came from his pack of cigarettes, and he'd been the one to salvage them. However, what was his was also Ever's.He glanced back down the beach the way he had come, and could just make out the blonde's sleeping figure beside the fire. shorelines and dunescapes"I don't sleep much lately," he said it casually, shrugging as if it wasn't a big deal. Glancing down at Melvin, he'd lift a brow as he took a seat. "Chat about what?" those remainingHe could feel his lips drawing away from his teeth in a frustrated snarl that he barely managed to reign in. "You came over here to pester me, not the other way around, sweetheart" With the sole intent to drive it all home that Ever was gone, and Zeke had no way of knowing if where he was or if he was alive, or safe. He made no move to get up, mostly because if he did he wasn't at all certain he would try to make a grab for her. "So I'll ask again, what do you want?" the last oneZeke smirked before plucking the cigarette back from Ever and tucking it away somewhere. "I guess that settles that, then." The more the discussion went on, the more circular it was going to become, and they'd never settle on a solution. Not that there was a solution. Distraction though, that was something he was good at. Something they both enjoyed. His smirk widened as he reached out to curl his fingers in the front of Ever's shirt, using the other man's layers as a leash to reel him in by. I know you...Zeke had a considerable few dings and nicks, but his were very visible, and very large. Primarily the burn. The question was rude, but Zeke didn't sweat social niceties much. "Twenty-four, and yourself?"

shorelines and dunescapesHe thought about it a moment, making a long, drawn out hmmmm as he thought about it before looking back over to him. "Who taught you to swim and what gave you a love of the ocean?"

Night Stroll
Welp, so much for that hope of getting any sleep in this place.
"Well s**t," A heavy sigh snaking through the threads of her mask before she fell onto her back with her arms stretched out above her.
"I ain't gonna take your last, much as I'd wanna." And boy, would she risk a good fight for a single puff at this point. But she's been in those spots before. Bummed and being bummed off of over a good couple of years.
"Wonder if any of the foliage around here might make a good substitute..." She could here the sigh from Li and the slew of words that followed in her 'terrible ideas.'
But it didn't hurt to just think out loud sometimes.

late night itchEver didn't have nightmares; didn't wake up sweaty or panicked or freaking out. He wasn't afraid, exactly, that wasn't the problem. The problem was the monotony of it all. The problem was how slowly days seemed to pass, once any semblance of their normal life faded away. Zeke would wake up late in a sweat from his nightmares, but Ever would just wake up because his body wasn't tired, because he hadn't put his brain to enough work. Stimulation was low, and it meant that sleep was hard. He'd wake up and walk around a little, scraping at his face and trying to put the buzzing of his mind to sleep I know you...It probably hadn't been meant as an insult but, all the same, it made Vash bristle. He drew himself up with a frown on his face and his chin tipped a tiny bit in challenge. "Eighteen." And he stared Zeke down, flatly, as if expecting him to say something about it.

Those Remaining
So he still had a bit of a fight left in him huh? Good.
"I saw that. You don't have to sweetheart me or anything to keep things amiable between us darling." Alicia smiled sweetly. She wasn't even sure herself why she bothered poking and antagonizing Zeke like this when she didn't know who he was. Maybe she was bored and needed to rile things up a little. Maybe it was the way that the Mist hunter seemed to have given up on everything with the loss of his partner that struck a chord within her or something.
"I want you to live a little." She crossed her arms across her chest. "Stop being a zombie that has given up on life."

shorelines and dunescapes"My dad taught me to swim when I was around 3, and I'm not really sure about why I like the ocean so much." He shrugged. "It's not like I grew up anywhere near it, but maybe that's why I was drawn to it." The ocean was a relatively new love, but he'd always been fond of swimming. night stroll"If you wanna ask sleeping beauty over there, be my guest." He'd gesture over in Ever's direction before sitting back in the sand, hands supporting his weight as he leaned back on them. "He's the one you gotta sweet talk into sharing." Of the two of them, Ever had the stronger addiction. They were dangerously close to have having to quit cold turkey, and he wasn't looking forward to it, bit no matter how much it'd suck for him, Zeke figured it'd be worst for Ever. Probably. Looking back at the new trainee, pale eyes narrowed in on the mask she was wearing again. "So how rude would it be to ask about the mask?" late night itchIt was incredibly rare for Ever to be the one to wake Zeke up, but it did happen on occasion. When it did, the Mist didn't bother asking what was wrong, because the answer was simply, frustratingly, that nothing was wrong. Instead he'd do what he could to make things more tolerable. Sometimes it was just walking around, sometimes it was more. I know you...He didn't say anything about it. Out loud. But to himself he was thinking that Vash didn't look eighteen. He looked quite a bit younger than that, and it had Zeke wondering if he was lying about it, but only for as long as it took to remember that there was a bit of an age restriction on recruitment. "So what division did you filed into?" those remaining"Oh, no worries there." He couldn't have given two shits about being amicable lately, and even less with her. She'd get venom from him. Every word dripping in sarcasm and mounting irritation. He just wanted her to go away. "Why the ******** do you care what I do or don't do?" He hadn't given up, but it was true that he certainly wasn't nearly as enthusiastic about life these days. Regardless though, how was that any of this girl's business?

night strollAww, she didn't want to really wake someone up just for a smoke. Sure, she was really considering it but her morality meter just wasn't gonna let it happen.
"Naaah," She sighed heavily before leaning forward, resting her arms across her knees. "Ain't gonna disturb someone else's beauty sleep just for me." In any other instance, she might have but it would have been a real d**k move on her part.
It was certainly gonna be a long night. The prompted question about her mask brought her brows up and slight crinkles to the corners of her emerald eyes.
"Ain't nothin' rude about it. You wouldn't be the first ta ask, that's fer sure."
