__ Zhi shook her hand off a little after hitting her mark... sorta. She did hit him, but it was giving her this troublesome sense of dejavu. Why could she never do enough damage to even be able to tell that she was landing her attacks? Blegh! That was a matter for another time. Zhi grinned and nodded as she straightened herself up again, "Yupperooni! Mama and papa helped me prepare for the tournament! You probably did too, right?" It only made sense after all. If he could match her new abilities then either he also trained or he was holding back in their first couple spars. "Okay! No more breaks! Get ready best buddy!" Zhi bounced on the balls of her feet a little while she got herself more pumped up with that fair warning.
It was time for an intense game of tag- one of her all-time favorite games. Faster than the blink of an eye, a unique hand seal was popped. This prompted the creation of three clones of the girl to appear around her, each totally unsynced while bouncing in place (looks like a group of blue oompa loompas, lol). "We're IT!" They chanted simultaneously before they each suddenly turned into oncoming streaks of lightning. The speedy Lightning Transformation technique served her pretty well in the last match. So she hoped a new twist on the tactic would give good results too. Each thin streak of electricity aimed to strike him in his leg, lower and upper torso respectively. If they missed, that was fine! They'd just bounce off the wall and figure things out from there. The real Zhi stood back for a moment to cope with the slight light-headedness she felt from dividing her reserves to such an extent as well as to see how things turned out. Although, anyone could guess that she couldn't and wouldn't stand still for long.

Taylor got his moment to recuperate. He steadied his feet and bent his knees slightly as Zhi took pride in her new skills. When multiple Zhi appeared and started hopping in a bizarre pattern, the boy knew he was in for trouble. He was really feeling the pressure when three of them turned into lightning and charged straight at him. It was at that moment his left arm rose horizontally to his torso, bent with chakra flowing into the weapon in his grasp to substitute for handseals. Just as the three beams of lightning approached and they got closer to hit the three parts of the small boy, a burst of air erupted between the three of them. The bubble of air, he imagined, would burst them all to their respective sides and break them of their lightning transformation technique. He didn't imagine, however, that it would destroy the clones. After all, the technique was used mostly for distraction, and had wind not have been superior to the lightning element he deduced that nothing of value would probably occur. It was his hope, however, that it would.
Regardless of the outcome of that, he had to move. He leaped upward after the burst air technique was used and threw the kunai within his grasp down at Zhi's (the one in the background) location. Before he completely let go of the weapon, however, he channeled his chakra one more time to give the girl a little distraction in addition to his attack. The previous kunai he threw, aka the one that landed to the left and a little further back from Zhi's previous location, was picked up by a burst of wind chakra and fired off at the blue haired girl's location. Because of the simplicity of the attack, however, the kunai would fly with a spinning momentum and wouldn't go up higher than her ankles. This would make the attack very easy to dodge, but it was another thing she had to think about. Hopefully the kunai coming down and the kunai flying at her left ankle would be enough for Taylor to land on another plateau on the side of the mountain. It was lower than the one Horus perched himself on, but it still allowed him to look down at Zhi and the clones, assuming that they were still around. He stood near the ledge as his left hand moved toward the chain scythe on his belt. If he was allowed to, then it was time for him to get serious.
__ Whoa whoa whoa! Wait... what? "Oh yeah... elemental advantages are a thing. Oops!" Zhi chuckled softly to herself while watching her clones get knocked back and out of their transformed states, each landing on their bottoms at scattered positions. Taylor jumped away and threw a kunai in her direction. So... who was it again? Man, she was eating her words a lot today. Zhi momentarily transformed into lightning to channel herself through the kunai and out the other side before ending the transformation again. Overdone? Heck yes. But at least it looked cool for a second. Zhi sighed, just then remembering what Lady Bastet told her a little while ago. "Agh! Get it together, Zippy!" Zhi stomped one foot down hard, feeling a slight sting run up her leg.
Zhi's clones had the same moment of disbelief from being knocked back as the original who had been watching form afar. Which gave Taylor another free move to get some more distance from his opponents. They looked up at the boy standing on the cliff, noting Horus still just watching a bit further above. All three figured that Horus might jump in at any moment given the current situation. Well, her game was ruined so this seemed more like a wasted effort than an advantage. All three clones waved at their two mountain-faring friends before poofing away. Zhi picked up Taylor's kunai spun it on one of her fingers. "Taylor, I don't like fighting so far away! You gonna come down here or do I have to get you!?" She grasped the throwing knife's handle again and pointed its tip at him. Sure, she had a few ranged attacks, but they didn't work so great in her last fight. Right now, Zhi knew she had to actually focus, and do it seriously so that she could prove to herself that her training was worth something after all.

Taylor grabbed hold of his chain scythe and wrapped the excess chain around his torso and his two arms. When he finished he had about a foot of slack naturally for each, while the sickle rested in the grip of his right hand and the weighted end was placed in his left. When Zhi challenged him to approach her, he knew better than to disappoint her. After all, Zhi was especially proficient with the body flicker technique. If she used that technique, as well as the attack she used previously to blast him into the side of the mountain, then he would be up a creek and without a paddle. Therefore, he had to play by her rules. "Coming down!" He shouted before a clone appeared beside him. The clone stayed in place as Taylor let the chain in his left hand, aka the weight end hand, dangle about thirty inches. He then started to spin the chain to his side as he disappeared, only to re-appear in front of her.
"Surprise!" He stated with a smirk. In his left hand he was spinning approximately thirty inches of chain while he slashed at Zhi with the sickle in his right hand. His body was facing Zhi on his right side with his right arm forward while slightly bent and slashing laterally. It was Taylor's play to force the girl into dodging the slash so that he could capture her. After all, the technique he used was designed so that if the opponent dodged the standard strike then he would lean his body forward and fire off the weighted end of his chain at her. In addition, that chain shot would gain any amount of bonuses necessary in order to match the level of dodge she implemented. Therefore, as long as he played it cool, he should be able to land his strike and thus get a solid blow on his opponent.

__ Zhi nodded with approval toward her friend's compliance to her whining. It worked for her either way to be honest, so she just tossed Taylor's kunai aside since it no longer served a purpose for her. She had plenty of her own after all. Then... there were shenanigans. Taylor employed a shunshin to bring himself and his spinning kusarigama right to her doorstep for nefarious purposes! How dare he attempt to surprise her with a high-speed maneuver!! Zhi Zenshin! OH, ho ho. Taylor didn't realize what breed of canned worms he just opened. "Hmmmmn!?" Zhi hummed aggressively as the oncoming blade was met with an intense rush of air that had intensified from the arena's mountainous breeze. The powerful gale would have been summoned by hand seals performed at the moment Taylor reappeared and a second set paired with the timely noise carried passed her lips. Immediately after deflecting his attack it would quickly surround and wall him off from Zhi.
The lad would have to overcome a sudden desire to forego any extreme defensive maneuvers, making it much harder to escape what else was to come. She figured he was just going to run back to where he left that clone, but hopefully her Recklessness genjutsu would make it less likely to deal with the same situation she dealt with while fighting T-fizzle. The surrounding winds would pull the petals of many flowers from the forest behind them into itself, and others seemed to just appear out of thin air. In moments Taylor's vision would be completely blocked from his surroundings while he was sealed into a rather flexible psuedo-imprisonment technique of Zhi's. "That was my line! Time to mete out your punishment!!" Zhi's hands would reach out toward the Flower Scattering Dance technique she employed to cause it to start causing a falling burst of air to slam into him from above. If he stayed captive for just this long, he'd be left to feel the wind push him into the ground with great, but hardly life-threatening force. It was true that Zhi hated fighting long range fights but short to mid range combat was something she could manage. Although, she'd rely more on her ninjutsu and the genjutsu her mama forced her to learn more than any kind of normal martial skills.

Taylor halted his slash when the massive gale of wind swirled around him. He was about to substitute with his wind clone when all of the sudden, a surge of confidence overtook him. He wasn't some coward who had to hide and chip away at his opponent? No, he was a strong warrior. There was a reason why he was able to escape Getsugakure and the Hirohiko family. Even though there was a little inkling telling him something wasn't right, he was ready to fight through it. First, however, he needed to get passed this wind ninjutsu. The chain in his left hand continued to spin as he threw the sickle in his right hand upward, extending his arm upward as he did. He did so because even though he was cocky, he still felt the air pressure gather from above him, which was undoubtedly where the attack would strike. The weapon collided with the oncoming downward wind pressure which neutralized the attack.
Meanwhile, as the chain continued to spin within his left hand's grasp, the chain started to bleed until there were multiple weighted ends with the original one. Once the sickle fell back into his grasp Taylor let loose his technique by pivoting on his right leg and extending his left arm. A hundred weighed ends shot off from Taylor's throw as the launched off in all directions. The ones which would come for Zhi came at nearly every angle imaginable. In addition, if she tried to dodge she needed to be careful not to land in an area where the additional chains would snag her. "Unlimited Chain Works!" He shouted as he launched the attack. It clearly wasn't the name of the attack, but Taylor felt so vain that he decided that the attack needed a better name than illusionary shackles. After all, since Taylor was truly feeling himself, why shouldn't he rename it? All the while, Horus was a little spooked at the usage of powerful techniques from his partner. Was the human trying to end the match quicker?

OOC: The only reason why I think Substitution would be fine is that Substitution is still an E-ranked technique, while the technique only negates him thinking of defensive moves B-ranked and above. Also in my mind substitution is more of a evasive move than a defensive one. Like, this guild divides the two, so I think if I used substitution while under this genjutsu then I should still be fine.
__ Zhi could see it happening, sense it happen, and was still a little surprised at how Taylor ended up countering the strongest wind technique currently in her arsenal. Maybe her genjutsu was a little too effective? At the same time, now Zhi felt like there was no reason to hold back. She was feeling the drain from already overexerting herself again. If this dragged on, she'd lose... even if Horus stayed out of the fray. 'Not again...' Zhi thought as Taylor wound up his chain for a counterattack. Zhi's face went blank as she thought about having to explain how she wasted her second chance in this tournament that her parents helped her prepare for. Although now uncharacteristically expressionless, Zhi redirected that energy toward something productive. Hand seals were again completed as she witnessed an odd technique of his create clones of his kusarigama. They weren't illusions, that much she could tell. Which meant she made a good choice in the next technique she prepared.
"Not again..." This time she chanted it out loud as she held her right hand out at the oncoming chain she could tell didn't seem to be made purely of chakra. As soon as it would begin to touch the palm of the glove the Container technique she had mastered would go into effect. The main body of Taylor's weapon would be wrested from his grip as it was instantly sealed and summoned through to her other hand. Zhi expected this to effectively hinder his control over the cloned chains too. Also, she hoped this would be of some surprise to him being suddenly disarmed. Sparks of electrical chakra coursed over her fingers down to the tips on each hand, but the five on her extended right hand would suddenly lash out to coil around each ankle, wrist, and the neck. If these new tricks also didn't work then she'd definitely resort to her default comforts of battle.

Taylor didn't flinch when his chain scythe was taken from him. If this was how the fight would go, then that was fine. He was stronger than her anyhow. The voice in his head was starting to get stronger that something was wrong, but adrenaline was still pumping through his being. When the chain scythe was gripped in Zhi's left hand and the lightning tendrils shot at him from her right, the wires wrapped around Taylor and electrocuted him brutally. This was, of course, until the clone which the boy substituted with disbursed and Taylor was revealed to be on the ledge where his clone stood previously. Meanwhile, Taylor was primed to go into the fray again. He grabbed two kunai from his pouch and was about to leap down when his body was unable to move. "Wh-what the?!" He shouted as wing flaps came down from above him. Horus landed beside him toward the left and the bird looked deep into his manic partner's eyes. Taylor exerted the chakra to break from the paralysis when Horus flapped his wings once more for the handseal required for the kai technique, which was followed swiftly by a decisive peck to Taylor's head.
The sensation of humility overtook him instantly as he took a few steps from the ledge, both from the breaking of the genjutsu and the pain of the peck. Clarity of mind return to his thoughts. His breathing slowed and he looked at his partner Horus, to whom Taylor knew was annoyed since the bird involved himself into the fight. Horus looked at Taylor for a few more moments before he flew back to his plateau. It was at that moment looked down cautiously at his opponent. "Could we please halt the amount of genjutsu used please? That last one really messed with me." He said as he stood with his arms bent while raised up to in front of his face. Both kunai pointed down and his legs were bent slightly for an impact. His body was positioned to lean right toward Zhi's location, which placed his right foot forward and his left foot back. He knew that if he did not approach her then Zhi would make good with her threat and bring the fight to her. It was his only hope, however, that he could endure it enough to claim the win.

__ Poopy! He slipped away at the last second. Sometimes Zhi hated how being a ninja implied that they were supposed to fight. It was so sneaky and underhanded. Although, sometimes that was actually the most fun part about the job. Zhi watched Horus fly down to help his partner, rather admiring how the bird supported Taylor even if he wasn't going to outright participate in the fight. All the same, Zhi didn't want to keep giving Taylor all these chances to catch himself over and over. She needed to keep him off balance if she was going to win this. Unlike Tetsuhiko, she wasn't trying to break through chakra-infused metallic defenses, so this was at least easier to some degree. Yet... 'I'm still struggling so much. This is so hard... ugh!!' Truly, the more she fought the more she learned about herself and how things worked. After this, she was definitely going to learn to control her chakra better. If she could last longer, just a little while longer, in a fight then it'd be less one-sided about when or how she'd tire herself out and lose.
Zhi dangled the kusarigama's sickle in her extended left hand before lowering the arm and gently dropping it onto the grass laid out around the base of the mountain while listening to Taylor's request. The threads extending from her right hand's fingertips retracted to appear as just mere sparks, the same effect lingering on her other hand too. Fwoosh! Zhi vanished instantly, but didn't directly approach. Her clan's version of the body flicker allowed her to reach a destination at the same speed as most others, but even while affording some extra maneuvering in the process. Zhi would end up coming from Taylor's left to reappear about five feet to his right. "Okay, no more genjutsu." Zhi said at first, hoping to bring his attention to where she stood rather than where she came from. At the moment that she finished talking it would be revealed that she had managed to speed herself even more during the high-speed technique to the point that a sonic boom was manifested from breaking the sound barrier. It would catch up with Zhi in a moment, crashing into Taylor who stood between where she was and where she stopped. 'If he dodges, he'll probably go get his weapon back to fight with. I'll intercept him then.' Assuming the powerful throwing force failed to blindside her opponent, she was at least thinking a bit further ahead than just in the moment like usual. Now... she had to at least do that much. Her the lightning chakra threads from her hanging hands suddenly extended out to bar off most of his escape routes save from the wall of force approaching from behind. The lightning wires curved around and inwardly toward him with barely much room between them. Of course, with the level of control she was allowed, him trying to slip through would make it that much easier to capture. Zhi was really trying to hide how tired she was, but the sweat rolling down around her cheeks made that pretty difficult. At best... she could make two more moves, then she was done for.

Taylor's guard was facing forward to prepare for another one of those strikes. When Zhi spoke from behind, Taylor's head turned to face her. Before he could turn, however, the boom burst crashed forward and knocked him clean off his feet. It was clear that, despite his best defensive pose, that no amount of sheer physical will was going to be stopping that strike. Taylor crashed back first into the side of the mountain where the full force pushed him into the rocks further. It was only after the gales ended that Taylor could even think about getting up. White powder seeped through his sweater as he stood, which no doubt would be mixed in with the rest of the debris from the wind strike. "OUCH!" Taylor accidentally shouted on the count of his impaired hearing. His ears rang which caused him to stammer to the left and right for his balance until he took again a proper defensive pose, with both arms up and both legs below him. Upon impact he lost the grip of the kunai in his right hand, but somehow still held onto the kunai in his left. Still, because he had the kunai in his hand, he channeled chakra into it in order to use temporary body paralysis on his opponent. He needed some more time to recover, and his only hope was to stall her with cheap tricks.
Meanwhile, Horus took flight and started to circle around the mountain range. Two thunder clones formed beside him as he flew approximately thirty feet away from the mountain. The primary purpose of course was to give the two the mountain to fight upon, but the clones also served as substitute fodder in case Zhi wanted to try that s**t against him. It was at this point the boy wondered how long he could truly endure such an onslaught of strikes?

__ This next step was going to take some super peak timing, but she was pretty sure she could get it down. Zhi stepped aside just before Taylor would be hit by the sonic boom, allowing him to go flying by and she took off running the moment he was. Judging by her last fight that Radical Good Speed was used, she knew that it was still possible for opponents to use techniques despite the disorientation they suffered. She had to be on guard. Thankfully, she'd avoid being struck by her own technique in the process. 'Okay!' This time she wasn't going to ease up on the gas for her friend. She wanted to win and didn't have any other choice at this point. As she ran toward Taylor in the direction he was thrown she would form another Shadow Clone while he somehow managed to find the strength to pick himself up. The pair of Zhi came darting out of the smoke cloud side by side, leaving Taylor having to figure out which was the real one in the worst time for gambling. Both suddenly vanished to use everything they had in a last ditch offensive effort, but one was stunted from fully participating in the maneuver.
'Bollocks!' That Zhi thought as she was momentarily paralyzed, but she instantly recognized the affecting chakra as the same which was used on that Masato feller who crashed their spar and probably the same that Horus used on Taylor a bit ago. As she recalled, Masato just had to exert enough chakra to free himself. While one Zhi freed herself to jump back into the fray, the other would be reappearing at her destination high above Taylor. The second Zhi would only appear in front of him a second later as she crashed right into him with all the force her tiny body could muster. The two sonic booms that would follow the girls would reach Taylor only a moment later, one after the other in quick succession. Meanwhile, Zhi fell right down toward Taylor and cried out only when she was almost on top of him, "FOR PANCAAAAAAAAAKES!!!" Her fist would come flying down to appear like it would land right on him, but she instead just punched the rocky ground beside his head. The explosive force from her Cherry Blossom Impact would make it clear that she pulled the punch for the sake of her friend's well-being. The shadow clone would have been dispelled right after crashing into Taylor due to using all of its reserves to also free itself form paralysis. It was a very very flashy last move, but that was how a final gambit should be. Zhi could feel her consciousness waning. When was the last time she was this exhausted from using so much chakra? She really messed up this time. Either the match was called because she could have ended the fight with that falling punch or because she was unable to continue. Zhi would collapse beside Taylor regardless of the outcome, her vision gradually fading while the other noises in the area became super muffled.

Just as the clone appeared, Horus did also. He appeared in a body flicker above Taylor as he grabbed the boy with his talons. With a few flaps of his wings he then breathed wind chakra out of his mouth to force push the two upward. Unfortunately, despite the increase in elevation, they wouldn't move fast enough to dodge the sonic boom. The burst of air knocked the two in the air, which forced Horus to let go of Taylor and for the two to fly in opposite directions. Taylor was flying far from the mountain and toward the ground. If he didn't react, then the fall would kill him. Thankfully, there was one trick he knew. Chakra was channeled through his kunai in order to morph handseals. Just before he crashed into the ground he released a bubble of air in front of him and above the ground. The burst shot him back and sent him rolling toward the mountain. Road rash tore apart his legs and arms until his back finally collided with the mountain. It was then, however, that Zhi's strike would completely obliterate the part of the mountain Taylor was resting on. For a second, there was silence as dust covered the two.
Horus appeared where the collision occurred. Being a bird he was able to parachute his wings out in order to land somewhat safely from the initial collision. After he landed he heard the final strike, which caused him to fly off into a body flicker to observe the battle. When he arrived, he saw the dust clear and Zhi standing over Taylor. Assuming she would still have her arm stretched out for the punch, Taylor had his kunai pointed right at her torso. Taylor's breathing was heavy, however. While he has energy reserves to spare, his body was torn. He played it too defensively, and against the onslaught of ninjutsu his body could only take so much. Still though, he had the power to end the fight. Before any judgment could be made, however, he had one question. "Zhi.... was that.... your full.... potential?" He said in between his breaths. Of Zhi tried to make a move then he wouldn't hesitate to end the fight. How Zhi answered the question would determined who won the fight.

OOC: The only reason why I think Substitution would be fine is that Substitution is still an E-ranked technique, while the technique only negates him thinking of defensive moves B-ranked and above. Also in my mind substitution is more of a evasive move than a defensive one. Like, this guild divides the two, so I think if I used substitution while under this genjutsu then I should still be fine.
__ Zhi could feel the last of her strength leaving her. There was no way she could continue, unlike her friend who still had Horus to back him up in the worst of it all. She was glad he didn't participate in most of the match, but also frustrated to realize that she would've been outmatched entirely if he had. Still, Zhi managed to smile toward her friend and weakly nod in response to his question. She was pale, like... sickly pale. As she attempted to take another breath, Zhi just felt her body go numb and she collapsed where she was. The adrenaline wasn't even enough to keep her going enough to speak. There was no way around it. 'I... lost again...' A soft sigh in her thoughts blanketed her inwardly directed anger and the world faded to black. Hopefully... she could wake up again soon enough to finally fix her problem with overexerting herself in battles. She was worthless to the village like this. There was no way she could be trusted with missions if she couldn't even pace her chakra usage.
Taylor dropped the kunai the moment that Zhi collapsed. Although he too was weak, he used what last strength he had to catch her. His arms bent and the girl fell right into them. "That's all I wanted to know." He said with a smile. The reason why Taylor wanted to fight in this tournament was to push his opponent to the absolute point of their capacities. He wanted them to be challenged and become better. This was especially Zhi, who at this time was his true human friend. Taylor was amazed at how she fought. With each challenge she forged a new path for herself. She was truly a ninja to inspire others. "To anyone who cares. I forfeit my match. Zhi is the winner." He said as he forced himself to his feet with Zhi in his arms. His body was in agony as he carried his friend out of the arena and toward medical attention. Meanwhile, Horus nodded to Taylor's decision and gathered Taylor's ninja supplies. He held them all in his beak as the bird flew off ahead of Taylor and Zhi. The first round was over. Taylor may have lost the tournament, but he won what he wanted most. Satisfaction.
