The rabbit's ears somehow perked up even higher when they caught wind of a particularly energetic voice. It was one she had been introduced to only a couple of months prior, but had grown familiar with. They had seen one another a handful of times at the park since their initial encounter. His name rolled off her tongue. "Laurel!" She was excited herself to see the boy again. She swooped over and offered the cheetah a friendly hug. "I am glad to see you, too. I am well. Yourself?"

Hope you do not mind if I added some history to them? I figure they would spot each other at that same park every so often if they both frequent it. XD

((Diana Richardo → Side Table Desert Table))
She was right, this one was completely darling.
With a tiny bow of her own and a quickly growing smile, Diana introduced herself. "Hello Lulu, I'm Diana. I haven't been to a Lab function before, I'm here to learn more about it." She paused, hearing a boy's voice calling for the little rabbit, and smile pointing to him as he approached. "And you have a friend incoming."

(( Sven Beyer ----> Entrance ----> Chimera Playpen ))
It was fair to say that the influx of Raevan's pouring in was more than a shock for Sven. He shifted his weight from one foot to another, eyes flicking from the strange creatures inside the playpen and then back to observing the other guests. So many types of wings, so many additional limbs and neat magical qualities to each. A part of him wondered what he would look like as a Raevan, even, and the thought left a crooked smirk on his face.
Turning back to the playpen, he tugged out his smart phone, snapping a quick picture of the creatures. They'd be good inspiration for the next chapter in his book, after all!

(( Samael → Entrance → BBQ Stand || Zeke/Reuben))
Ah a trip to the beach! If there was one thing that Sam seemed in tune with her reptile children about it was laying out in the sun! And the beach was a great place to do so if there wasn't a huge crowd. Sam wasn't sure how the crowd would be at the gathering for the Lab, her thoughts still turning to the soul in the bottle she'd sent in.
Shaking her head she made her way down towards the entrance carrying her blanket and a small backpack with sandwiches, though she could easily smell the delicious aroma of cooking food near by. The long haired woman wore a more sporty bathing suit as she found it far more comfortable than a one piece and not so revealing as a full bikini. As she walked towards the BBQ table she saw a familiar figure standing there.
"Reuben!" she called and waved. She'd not seen him since their camping trip and was glad to see him getting out.
When she had originally been presented with the invitation to the annual Lab summer event, Cordelia couldn't help being super pumped for it. But now, as she stood at the edge where the asphalt met the sand, the snake couldn't help but feel sick to her rune. It had been such a long time since she had been to one of these. Not only did it make her nervous, but it also made her sort of sad. Ebony had always loved the beach and they had almost always came to these sorts of events together. Looking hesitant and a bit dejected, Delia idly wrung the ends of her simple, black kaftan and sighed.
"Is something wrong Dove?" Adrian asked as he pulled up beside her carrying their beach bag and a large parasol, his sunglassed eyes surveying the sand. Having also dressed simple, the Raevan's grandfather wore brown sandals, baby blue swim shorts and an unbuttoned white shirt that left his bare chest exposed. When he dressed like this, it was hard to remember he was a man in his mid-fifties and a grandfather to boot. Time, and perhaps his own ability to stay fit and active, had obviously been kind to him.
Attempting a smile, the Basilisk replied, "Nothing's wrong, just nervous...I guess." Cordelia shrugged before pointing towards a spot on the beach that was a good ways away from the water. Although she loved herself some warm sand and a good ole sun bath, the smoke Frei needed to be cautious near such a large body of water. "There's a good spot Granddad. Let's set up shop there."
Deciding not to pursue the issue further, after all he wanted her to have fun today, Adrian gestured for his granddaughter to lead the way.

(( Dani → Side Table | Nell & Dair ))
One of the benefits of talking to herself, she'd found, was that people tended to talk back -- at least in a social setting like this. Dani had never been shy and was unafraid of simply approaching people and introducing herself, and that would have been her next tactic, but these sorts of gatherings made making new friends a lot simpler. Everyone arrived for the same purpose, after all; very few people went to a group event just to cling to the corners of a room (or beach, as it were) and not socialize at all.
When a casserole dish was set down next to her empanadas, Dani watched with interest as the cover was peeled away and a carb-loaded macaroni dish was revealed in all its aromatic glory. Diet? What diet? Not today.
When the woman addressed her, Dani turned and offered her a bright smile in return, taking the proffered hand and shaking it briskly. "I'll trade you one of each of these for a giant plate of that. It looks like the ultimate comfort food. I'm Dani; it's nice to meet you!"
Her gaze slid to Dair, the admittedly somewhat sullen-looking Raevan floating beside Nell, and her smile softened into one that was slightly more amused. The sun and heat weren't for everyone, true, but it was better -- and healthier -- than staying inside cooped up all day.
Just like any other teenager, she supposed even Raevans had to dragged out of their comfort zone sometimes, and they couldn't be expected not to sulk about it.
"Nice to meet you too, Dair," She added, voice warm, and offered her hand to his even as she said to Nell, "I love your dress, by the way."

(( Reuben → BBQ Stand || Zeke/Samael ))
Reuben looked around a bit when he heard his name and there she stood, the stunning woman from their hike. "Sam! Hey!" he called, opening his arms up for a hug. It had been a while since they're trip and he was excited to see a friendly face.
Then it dawned on him. She had yet to meet Ryder! "Oh my god, you haven't met Ryder yet! It's crazy how far we've come in just the last few months. He's right over there," he stated with a smile, pointing out his charge who seemed to actually be chatting with someone over by the playpen.
~~~~~~~~~~
(( Ryder → Chimera Playpen || Sven ))
Ryder floated there silently for a moment, that was until a man approached and was awkwardly standing next to him staring into the pen. This is why he didn't like going out. He wasn't a huge fan of people in general, but this man seemed like he wasn't sure what to do. Maybe he was just an introvert like himself. At first, the frei kept his eyes on the playpen, still enthused with them, but the tension grew as the time passed.
Feeling almost obligated to speak, he did once the man took a photo. "Umm...they're cute, huh?"
((LuLu -> Dessert Table ))
LuLu released her hold on her fellow frei and returned her attention to the human."Diana,"she echoed. "This is Laurel." She nodded towards the boy.
She then moved to help herself to a slice of carrot cake. She scooped the treat onto a paper plate that was decorated in fish and seashells. "Lab parties are fun. Please enjoy yourself." The rabbit popped a bite of frosting into her mouth and could not help but emit a pleased squeak.
((Laurel -> Dessert Table)) ((Oliver -> Entrance -> Chimera playpen because WHAT ARE THOSE?))
Laurel reciprocated LuLu's hug with a tight squeeze and a delighted purr. He was so happy that at least one of his friends were here, espescially one he'd already spent time with! Their visits at the park had been so much fun, he couldn't help but be excited about meeting her here. What would it be like to wander the beach? His hands shook in anticipation.
"I'm so glad to hear you're doing well!" He chirped, grinning from ear to ear. "And, uh, I've been doing okay! I'm much happier now that it's summer, that's for sure!"
Well, there had been that incident at the lake a month ago, but he didn't want to trouble her with that! They were here to have fun, not talk about scary things! He assured himself again and moved to smile at Diana.
"Hello, Diana!" He said, offering her a hand to shake. "It's my first time at a Lab party, too! I was only born in November, so I missed the last one. I hope everyone had fun, though!"
---
Well, Oliver couldn't say he was surprised that he'd been left back at the car to handle the bulk of the beach supplies, but he couldn't blame Laurel for it either. As soon as he stopped and saw his son already chattering away with a Raevan he recognized, the professor decided to let him have his time to shine and wandered off on his own with the umbrellas in tow.
Though he'd been aiming to straight to the beach and find a spot, he found himself scrutinizing one of the directional posts instead. Chimera playpen? What on earth? He squinted, turned, and headed over to check it out.
"Okay, uh..." He said, placing the umbrellas down and hovering over the pen. "I wasn't expecting to see something like this at a beach party. What in the world are these creatures?"
((Diana -> Desert Table))
Diana took the boy's hand, hoping her surprise at his age wasn't too noticeable. She'd known Raevans weren't born as babies but it was different to see the evidence, teen aged and energetic, before her eyes.
"It's good to meet you too, Laurel." His facial and shoulder markings reminded her of a large cat, though mentally she couldn't make herself recognize which they were between Cheetah or Leopard.
"You two are Raevans, yeah? Any advice you can think of for someone thinking about adopting from the Lab?"
((LuLu -> Dessert Table ))
LuLu nodded at Laurel. "I enjoy the warm weather a lot more, too." It certainly gave her an excuse to bring out her stash of crop tops and sheer blouses. She preferred both over sweaters.
The rabbit returned her attention to Diana."Yes." She pondered the woman's question for a moment as slowly chewed at another bite of cake. "Be ready to put in the time. It can be hard work." The sigel briefly reflected on how much of a handful she had been for Josh in her earlier years.
(( Sven Beyer // Chimera Playpen ))
Sven almost jumped when the Raevan, who had remained silent up until now, spoke. He drew his eyes back to them, noting the rainbow freckles absently. Pretty, almost like makeup. Directing his attention to the topic at hand, Sven nodded, clearing his throat.
"Yeah." He agreed softly, looking at the picture he just took. "Never seen them before." He added as an afterthought, lifting the camera to take a second picture.
Like the other, he struggled trying to find the words to continue the conversation. While normally a warm and friendly man, it didn't mean he was good at speaking, especially when in a situation where he was surrounded by awe and splendor. He opened his mouth to stumble through anything to say, feeling the same obligation the Raevan felt, until a new voice cut through the silence. His eyes slid to view another man, like him, approach, setting umbrellas down. He released an agreeable hum in response, shoulders softly shrugging.
"I don't know." He admitted. "I was hoping one of you might, actually." A faint, tired smile touched the writers face as he scratched his cheek, laughing softly as he watched the creatures play. Cute.
(( Yves & Yuri // Entrance, Food Tables ))
"Do you have your sunscreen on?"
"Yes," Yuri groaned.
"But is it enough, though?" Yves asked, scrutinizing Yuri with raised brows. Yuri groaned again.
Sporting visors and sunglasses, the duo were definitely not the height of fashion -- although Yves's fanny pack was pretty cool, he thought -- but at least they could say they were prepared. They were a little later than they'd planned, having missed meeting anyone at the entrance, and the crowd was already succeeding in putting the both of them off a little. Still, Yves had insisted they be brave and try to find someone they know.
Besides, Yves had reminded Yuri on the car ride over, You worked so hard.
Yuri held the pie close to his chest, protectively. It was a strawberry rhubarb pie, his very first. He wasn't able to really taste it, but Yves had helped him make it, so it at least wasn't poisonous. Probably. It smelled good, he knew that much.
They found the dessert table without much trouble (Yves had a knack for finding the desserts, it seemed) and Yuri gingerly placed his creation down. It was already cut into slices, but he stuck the pie scoop on top of a colorful napkin next to it for ease of access.
"Great job," Yves commended him with a smile. He then held up a bottle of sunscreen and stuck some onto his palm. "Okay, hold still, we're about to head out into the heat."
"Dad!" Yuri yipped. He hated how cold sunscreen was and how it never ever helped him out. He was still gonna get burned, he was still gonna peel, he was never gonna get tan. What was the point? Still, arguing was useless with Yves. He floated still long enough for Yves to smear some more of that awful stuff on his arm.
"Okay," Yuri complied, restlessly. "Can I go now?"
"Go where?" Yves asked, raising his eyebrows again. "Off? On your own? Are you sure?"
Yuri rolled his shoulder and had already begun to drift away from his overbearing father. "I was gonna try to find Vesna," he replied, scanning the crowd for her familiar face. He didn't even know if she was there, yet, but he didn't come to the beach to hang out with his dad all day.
Yves huffed. "Well, be careful, alright? You have your phone. Stay away from the wa--.."
"I'm not going near the water," Yuri quickly mumbled. After nearly drowning so many months ago, he had never been able to look at the ocean the same way. He wanted to pause and stare at the horrifying large body of water with apprehension, but this wasn't a dramatic anime. He pressed on.
Yves lingered by the desserts and crossed his arms. "Guess I'll... find something to do," he sighed. Back when Yuri had been much younger, he'd always stayed glued to his guardian's side. Things were different, now. He plucked a berry off of a platter and took out his phone, sending a quick text to the two people he'd hoped to run into: Dani, and Lorenzo. It was just a quick 'Are you at the beach yet?' followed by several faces-with-sunglasses emojis. Was that cool? Yeah, that was cool.
For all he knew, they were all tied up with other company, which was fine. He wasn't too upset about guarding the treats table for a while, after all. He leaned back against the table and nibbled on a tart.
"It's true that I'm not built for the beach," Yuri grumbled as the sun hit him again. Trekking across the fiery sands, he felt like he was on a journey of some sort. That kind of thinking made the sun more bearable, anyway. He gritted his teeth. "But I'll be okay."
-----
NOTE: I'm quoting you guys because Yves texted ur guardians.... so no pressure or anything!! If any of them even checks their phone is totally up to you, Yves is gonna sit there and eat pastries until he passes out if he needs to... you gotta do... what you gotta do...
Yuri, unfortunately, did not think to use his phone, so if anyone finds him face down dead in the sand please contact Lorenzo immediately....
((Lorenzo -> Beach, Food Tables))
Lorenzo looked up from underneath his ominous looking beach umbrella as his phone buzzed beside him. He promised Vesna he wouldn't answer texts from clients today, but he fully intended to read them. After all, if there was an emergency, he would have to break his promise.
It was just Yves though, asking if he had arrived. He unlocked the phone screen and texted back:
'We arrived not too long ago.'
Briefly, he perused his emoji options, since this was supposed to be a fun trip, and he was told that emojis were fun. He added a sun emoji, but erased it again. The sun was a hateful nemesis, not a friend. He added a wave emoji, but erased that, too, and ended up going with an emoji that appeared to be a picture of a picture of a beach. They were at the beach. Fact. Fun fact.
Scanning said beach, he spotted Yuri before he spotted Yves, and then saw Yves at the food table. He looked back at his bag full of books and his ominous beach umbrella and his towel somewhat wistfully, but got up to greet him. He had promised Vesna to participate in this beach party, so even if it was the first sort-of-day-off he'd had in a while, he supposed he should spend some time participating.
"Yves!" he called, waving. "Good to see you." He gestured over in the direction of the BBQ stand, elaborating, "Vesna went over there to greet Zeke, and I've been setting up our things on the beach. Well, mostly my things." His eyes drifted towards the food. "Were we supposed to bring something? I think Vesna made some kind of snack, but she hasn't set it out yet."
"Oh, please! If there's any left over I'll have to eat it all myself, too, which would be..." She paused, trying to think of the right word for it. "...unfortunate?" Not that she wouldn't enjoy going to town on an entire pan of mac and cheese, but she would definitely regret it later.
Dair, at least, managed to look less wilted when he was brought to the new woman's attention, and even gave her a small smile after regarding her silently for a few long moments. "It's nice to meet you, Dani," His handshake was noticeably less firm than Nell's, though a great deal more rough. And though it was hard to tell where his attention was wandering to with the giant sunglasses he was wearing (and, honestly, would be even if he took them off), it was clear that it was wandering all the same. Alas, tables full of delicious food weren't much of an interest when you didn't have a stomach.
"What brings you out here today?" Nell asked, giving the table a quick glance to see if there were any plates near at hand. "I mean, aside from, y'know. Lab stuff." At this she gestured broadly to the slowly growing crowd of Raevans and people she had seen at various other Lab functions.
Dair, meanwhile, started to slowly drift towards the beach, absently glancing around to see if he could spot anyone he knew. He waved an acknowledgement at Nell when she called after him to remind him to drink his water.
