He sighed that Lawr would let that happen. "If you want a magic hand then we have to be the ones to take that power. Any offer is poison. They have control over it."he reached to brush his hair back more. "Not that you arleady own a magic hand."

Lawrence laughed even though it hurt a bit to do. "I don't trust them. I'm using them as much as they are using me. I'll get them in the end, I always get them in the end." It was obvious that he still somehow - in defiance of everything else - thought that he was winning.
He closed his eyes, happy to have his hair touched even a little bit, hopeful somehow it would get it in line. "I have no idea where one would even begin to look for a magic hand."

Rodney wasn't even there."
That reminder only bristled him more. Where the hell was his devoted husband?

At the mention of Rodney not being there he exhaled weakly.
"Rodney won't fight." he said.

"Just so I can squeeze it. I still feel rattled...and I've been stressed out since the orientation for a lot of reasons."

Lawrence tolerated that much, hands were fine, and when it was his friend who was in distress he could do that much. It took him a while to get there.
"It sounds like it was horrible." he said. "What I've heard other people describe. Are you all right?"

He held the hand, letting his thumb graze over it slowly over and over. "When I saw you bleeding out, it made me think of a lot of things again. I kept praying deep down that this wasn't it. Then when Rin's coat went, when I had to tear you away from the titan, it was like I couldn't even keep that. ........I've been seeing shadows now...that no one else can see. In my sleep too."

Lawrence nodded. "I understand it had to be disturbing to you." He didn't really and hadn't thought about it, when he was in peril he himself was all he thought about, he'd not considered Rin for a heartbeat. She was gone and therefore she had ceased to matter as anything other than a tool. "I'm sorry you lost her coat, but at least nothing can ever take away her memory. You didn't fail anyone."
However the mention of seeing shadows did cause him some degree of concern, a strange heavy weight of concern settling in his gut. He saw things, he knew he did, and he knew that other people did not. They weren't always shadows, sometimes they were people, sometimes they were just voices, sometimes it was other stranger things, but still it was close enough to home that he found himself struck quiet for a moment.
"You should speak to someone about that." he said. He hadn't, but at least he could give Melvin some sound advice.
