Tarlok Post: 2 Location: Edge of the crowd --------------------That was definitely a foreigner he saw, silver hair peeking above the Yaeli purples. Tarlok couldnt help but stare, but he was unconcerned. Why should he be? Even if he was superstitious, there were priests right there. Speaking of... He stood up briefly, rolling his carpet and wares up carefully before approaching the edge of the crowd. "Hello, Priestess, how are things going so far?" he asked, putting on his best smile as he watched her calm the people. He was worried, yes, but a smile was as much of a commodity as anything else, and they likely needed some extra smiles more than most right now. jayoku Approaches impulsively, I don't know why, Just felt like bringing him over here

Kieran - 1 It was rare for the Yaeli to approach gatherings like this, but the swirling rumors had taken hold of his curiosity. What could possibly be going on to cause such a stir? Better yet he also had someone to protect now on Yael and hearing all these rumors made him wish to seek her out quickly. Would she even be here or would she have fainted already? The teasing thought was quickly shrugged off, however, as he spotted the familiar family. " Taijana..." Kieran waved sheepishly towards the trio as he approached, " I'm glad to see all of you are here." That meant they were safe and not victims of the rumors that kept spreading through the crowds. After this meeting revealed more information perhaps he would even take a look through some of his mother's oldest journals. Surely there could be some hints in those?

Post 2 - Thanks for approaching Saedah Tarlok! Saedah had been lost in thought, in fact despite the fact she was suppose to be keeping the crowd calm she felt like she was only managing to keep herself from panicking. Still trying to take deep breaths, she couldn't help it when someone approached her and she nearly jumped out of her skin and gave a small cry of surprise when they spoke to her. How..had she not noticed his approach? Was she so tired that now her body was betraying her senses?
Her face flushed in embarrassment, this wasn't how a priestess should act, even if she wasn't quite one yet she needed to set an example. Her mentor expected her of it and believed she could do it. Taking a small measure to try and slow down her racing heart she offered a smile to the Yaelian though it was obviously forced.
"I..apologize...I didn't see you approach.." She managed in a soft voice and she tipped her head down in a small bow of apology. It was apparent how stiffly formal she was being, after all she had to keep an air of calmness around her, even if she wasn't calm herself. "Ah...the crowd is getting bigger...I am glad to see that my brothers and sisters are able to.." Saedah trailed off, she shouldn't be so loose with what little information she had, "Uh...keep everyone together.." She managed to side track her original though pattern awkwardly. Her pale grey eyes noted his appearance, the stuff he had with him, it had been a while since she had been outside the sanctum... "Are you selling wares here?" The would be priestess managed to inquire.

Ko | 2 |
Almost immediately after he had begun his outburst, Graigorii grabbed Ko’s wrist to pull him back down, face flush and tone scathing, “What do you think you’re doing?! You can’t just holler at a High Priest like they’re a hard of hearing mutt! The indecency of it all, stop making a scene!” He pinched the bridge of his nose and released him, tossing a look over at his sister, “I can’t deal with him right now. You babysit the runt; I don’t even know WHY we had to bring him along. Try to not let him embarrass the whole family.” And with that he pushed his way into the crowd, soon disappearing in the mass of purple heads.
Adellia watched him storm off, tutting quietly as she turned to look back at her younger sibling, only to find him looking uncharacteristically forlorn. Ko looked down at the dirt, speaking much quieter than he had earlier, “I made him mad again…” Squeezing her hand, he glanced up, much akin to a dog that knows when it’s in trouble, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, honestly―I guess I was just so excited to be able to come along….Are you mad at me too? Did I embarrass you?”
Her eyes held only cool kindness, smiling at him as she squeezed his hand back, “No Ko, I’m not mad. But you know that Graigorii…he just takes things personally. He’ll calm down in a bit.” She cocked her head, looking back up at the Sanctum steps, “But you know...he was right, in at least one way. You shouldn’t go yelling like that, especially not at someone of a higher station in life than you. Zekiel must have a lot on his mind right now; he doesn’t have time to talk to us. So let’s just listen to what needs to be said, alright?”
Ko nodded his head, pursing his lips as he followed her gaze. He’d be good, he’d stay quiet. He didn’t want to embarrass the family any more.

Itotia 1 Itotia danced through the crowds, her body swaying like water as she avoided any and all contact. It was an art she perfected back in Oba, during her many travels to the market. She didn't want any contact with the mainlanders, and they seemed content for the same, and so she became a shadow of sorts. Now, she seemed to have reverted back to that shadow, her hood up and her face covered. She could feel the stares as others noticed her eyes having faded, gasping and speculating on how it could be. Did they know she was on the mainland long enough to look so different? She matched the mainlander eyes now, so it had to be clear. Her glow was gone, and so all she was, was a hooded figure in a mask of shadows. Pushing to the outskirts fully, she watched as some bolder Yaeli openly stared at Kres. Boy, did she stand out like a flame in these lands. She almost felt bad for the man, but he had changed since they first met just as she did. Before, he was flimsy and young, a boy still growing. Now he was all but the size of a Limbara, strong and stout and clearly not one to mess with. He was the mainlander Yaeli feared, and as a result he seemed to not be approached as of yet. Taking a breath and pushing away the anxiety she only seemed to have recently developed, she walked closer as she pulled off her hood. A long braid of lavender fell down her back as she grinned slowly at her companion, tilting her head a moment before softly teasing him a greeting, "Looking to leave already, Kres?" === OOC: Also open for a +1 if anyone wants to interact with a mainlander and a glowless yaeli!

Elyessi had to edit out a typo sorry for double quote!! Kresimir Post 2 While the shifter wasn't perhaps the most observant man, he definitely wasn't oblivious. Kresimir noticed all the stares he was getting from yaeli of all ages. He had to wonder what they were thinking, the image of Itotia shrinking back from him at their first meeting was called to mind and he had to figure they all felt just about like that. It was in his nature to want to smile and nod respectfully at any who caught his gaze though given his knowledge of the yaeli from Itotia, it might not be the best idea especially if he wanted to appear as harmless as he actually was. During his sweeping gaze was when he caught sight of a familiar hood bobbing and weaving effortlessly through the crowd. Kres wondered if she felt a little like she was in the oban markets with the throngs of people there. Just watching her dance through the crowd brought a slight smile to his face which only increased as she reached him. ”Only if you're ready.” He answered honestly. The slight tease in her voice made his heart squeeze. His gaze swept over the crowd once more before he continued. ”I see their stares and I know unfortunately there would be nothing I can do to alleviate their stress or worries of my presence. My presence making them uncomfortable would be the only reason I'd consider leaving. But, if you still want me here, or at least don't mind me accompanying you, that's all that matters to me.”There was a slight uneasiness in his stomach, he wasn't quite used to being the stranger sticking out. Sure there was the short period in oba, but it was nothing like how much he stood out here. Perhaps if he hadn't had his monstrous shield strapped to his back the yaeli wouldn't look at him so, he knew that was just wishful thinking. Kresimir was a kind soul, protective, but kind so it hurt a bit internally to know that he was causing so much discomfort among the crowd. This was where he wanted to be though, on this grand adventure (for him at least) with Itotia. ((YES, come meet the mainlander! XD he won't bite, he promises))

Itotia 2A soft scoff of a laugh left her lips at his word, and her eyes adverted to the crowd around them. She shrugged a bit at the second portion of his comment. Discomfort. Well even if he wasn't here, they would be uncomfortable. That was simply their nature as a society. Everything was a concern, from the smallest creature to the great storms. "We should stay..." she responded after a moment, sending a glare toward some men who seemed just as surprised at her as they were with Kres, "The notices were of some great news, and it is abnormal for the High Priest and Priestess to have such a gathering outside of our festivals..." She brushed her hair away before turning back to him with a bit of a grim expression, "This is something more than a simple announcement...something is going on..."

Kieran - 2
It seemed things were getting more and more exciting. Kieran could only raise a brow at the voices chattering away next to him. "Seems like the announcements should be starting soon." He truly was curious about what was going to be occur. Even if something was against them would the Sanctum make a move against it? The yaeli pushed his glasses back up on his nose thoughtfully. Even if not then he was still prepared to defend his own and to find out his own answers. After all that was all in the spirit of adventure~

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
Around the group of priests, whispers began to spread. Their levels of knowledge weren't consistent, but they all knew something was happening. They leaned near each other to whisper about the disappearances, about the Elaria and the mainlanders, and how they needed to make sure they kept their home safe. The elders shushed the younger ones, and the younger ones were curious, but all wanted to know more and couldn't help but gossip.
In the crowd, a mass shifted away from the mainlander, the odd man out. A few looked on with anger, their weapons showing on their hip, but none seemed to approach. They weren't as worried about a dark skinned man, instead they cared more about the bug girls who thankfully weren't there. Had they been...the priests and priestesses might have had more to worry about than rumors.
Suddenly, the doors began to slowly open from the Sanctum. The group of Priests and Priestesses moved to the side as they opened, quieting as their leaders finally made an appearance. Naturally, the crowd also stilled, basking in the presence of the High Priest and Priestess. Both were tall, ornate, and serene as they walked farther toward the crowd before pausing and waiting for complete silence from those before them.

Zekiel | 3
“Your presence is a comfort to the people,” Zekiel said. “That impact was vested in you with the gods’ choice to bring you here as their student and through your training. But if it does not please you to be here…” Zekiel did not have the authority to send Xelannis on his way if he pleased even if he might have liked to, and though there was ever the itch of inclination to push for whatever most satisfied his company, he had come to understand by now that compromises were vital in the balancing of wants among many. He smiled. “You need only stand, and if their presence irks you, you might think instead of all the things that do bring your mind to ease and rest it knowing we will not stand here forever.”
A particularly buoyant voice bubbled up out of the crowd, “Zekiel! Mr. Zekiel!” and Zekiel’s eyes flit that way, sifting over the faces until—there, little Ko, bouncing like a young grazing animal before the years calmed them and they still leapt about in hops, his physical energy and waving as impossible to miss as his voice, even through the crowd. Immediately, Zekiel’s eyes warmed further.
“It is wondrous to see you here, Ko.”
He could afford to say little more than that, as the young boy’s attention was quickly subdued by what Zekiel took to be his older siblings in company, and even if there was more to put forward, it was around then that Xelannis turned his attention to a girl he’d never made the acquaintance of—but who did indeed, upon inspection, share at least his fair features to an extent he saw rarely enough among the populous. Before he could comment, however, the doors to the Sanctum opened again, and he adjusted himself to silence, hands folding loosely behind him and eyes trained on the High Priest and Priestess as they emerged.

Taijana - 2
Her brother was the first to acknowledge Kieran. He leaned around his sisters, seemingly curious as to who was talking, and when he found his answer Tyrios returned to his post with a grunt. Trilanna's husband, Dennet, started up a conversation with his brother-in-law, which sufficiently distracted the grouchy man.
Taijana paid them no heed. As soon as her name was spoken, all of her attention went to Kieran. She reached out for him with her free hand, the other still wrapped securely around her sisters. "I'm glad you're here. It's been so-"
She stilled and turned momentarily curious about the moving crowds and-
"OH MY GODS, WHAT IS THAT?" Trilanna exclaimed, being anything but subtle. Taijana herself wasn't pleased to see a shifter in their lands, much less in the middle of one of their gatherings, but at least she had seen one before, so the shock wasn't as great as her sister's.
She murmured a few quick words of assurance to her sister, who wouldn't shut up about the white haired man. Honestly, was she trying to cause a scene?!
At least Tri's excitement was muted when the Sanctum doors started to open. Her ravings died out entirely when the High Priest and Priestess made their way outside.

Xelannis | 3
If Xelannis was not a dignified, classy young man, destined to be a priest of the Sanctum and upholder of holy law, he might have rolled his eyes and scoffed. 'A comfort to the people,' Zekiel said, as if there weren't dozens of other priests and priestesses as equally suited to the task such that anyone would even miss one conveniently absent boy. However, even if he had the ability or permission to abandon his post now, it would mean that all the time he'd already taken to stand about waiting would've been for nothing. There were not any extra hours in the day to waste on 'nothing.'
So Xelannis stood, arms folded across his chest, and he did not scoff or roll his eyes. He only emitted a muted hum of discontentment and let his attention be briefly caught by a passing cloud overhead. It would have been a nice day to lie in the grass...
Except that he was here, with nearly everyone else in the city, and no more knowledgeable for it, despite the missed opportunities. To say that he was irate would've been an understatement.
With a quiet sigh, he tried to at least curb any noticeable disappointment on his features. Zekiel was right in that this surely could not last forever, and though this sort of messy gathering over as-of-yet unknown problems didn't seem necessary to him, he supposed it was to someone. Though if anyone had been concerned about keeping people calm, this was probably not the way to go about it, either. He glanced to the crowd- the fidgeters, the clingers, and the shouters, and couldn't help but think they'd be better off if the situation (whatever it was) had been made any less of a big deal.
When the doors to the Sanctum opened, he had to admit to being rather unimpressed with the fanfare. "I'll be awfully displeased if this whole show is for nothing," he huffed.

Jacline || -3-
Jacline’s attention was still half pinned on the boy who’d looked at her, fretting over if Master Tallart came back at that precise moment to find such a thing, when one of the priests — or acolytes in training, as she couldn’t have known his rank but for his youth which suggested prentice or early beyond — noticed her in turn.
He grinned.
The heat in Jacline’s ears condensed at the tips as though pooling there, but since she had at least been seen, perhaps this was her opportunity to inquire? Her tongue felt thick in her mouth, and she was close enough that they could likely hear if she spoke up. But gods it was difficult to summon the courage. It did not help matters that the moment she did manage to open her mouth, “Excuse me-” the doors to the great Sanctum creaked with opening.
Immediately, her mouth clipped shut. Her eyes snapped to the doors. Her hands folded behind her. She felt, as the High Priest and Priestess emerged from the grand doors, as though her pulse was climbing within her chest, her breath held as the very air stilled about them all.
Whether or not she was ready for it, soon answers would come. She hoped.

Zekiel | 4
I'll be awfully displeased if this whole show is for nothing.
Though his eyes remained trained on the doors from which their High Priest and Priestess emerged, Zekiel found his smile cocked with amusement at the peculiar statement. “Nothing is for nothing,” he said, musing and beneath his breath but audible enough to hear. And so far as he was concerned, it was true.
How could anything possibly be ‘for nothing’ when every action or event no matter how slight still made itself part of the infinitely complex tapestry of events ever unwinding constantly across the known universe? It was impossible to avoid having some purpose to each occurrence as it was part of it all. But Xelannis had perhaps more specific purposes in mind, and though he was making quite a show himself of his surface distaste for it all, Zekiel derived the sense that it was a thin displeasure, born of boredom or a restless mind which eagered more than was immediately being offered by the unfolding scene.
“Excuse me-”
The small peep of inquiry from the crowd — which had registered just before the doors’ opening but not been enough to turn his attention then — drew his gaze back around as the procession moved forward and before speech began. And there she was. The same young girl Xelannis had spoken of earlier, slightly flustered by the events it seemed, with familiar color in her ears despite her rigid posture. He would have to inquire later when the chance presented itself to learn who she was.
For now, however, it was time only to wait.

Post 3 It was like worms were burrowing into her ears, the whispers..the catching of words, suspicious, worries..like poison they were seeping into her, digging in and holding root in her mind. Chewing on her bottom lip nervously she was having a very hard time keeping herself composed. She clutched the side of her robes with one hand, trying to stop the trembling that was occurring. Saedah felt sick to her stomach, perhaps her severe lack of sleep was causing her to lucid dream ...could that happen? Was this really just a nightmare?
A small whimper escaped her lips, she had dropped her gaze from the man in front of her whom had approached her. Panic...she was trying to desperately to bring herself together. She tried to raise her head to spot any of her sisters and brothers from the sanctum but they were too spread out...and what was she expecting from them? Most kept their distance from her to begin with, she would find little comfort in her peers.
The doors to the temple opened and like a refreshing breath of air the High Priest and Priestess emerged. The crowd for the most part had stilled...the whispering brought to a very low and much more tolerable level. The panic that had threatened to spill over was brought back down to reasonable levels that could be handled. She offered a apologetic smile and small bow of her head to Tarlok, she was terrible company after all and awful at trying to keep others calm it seemed.
