"So Arin's been officially living with you for about a month now?" Her brow quirked, the slightest traces of a grin trying to work its way over her lips. As worried as she'd been at first, she couldn't deny that she was glad that Luc and Arin had rekindled their friendship. They both seemed to bring something to their relationship that made them each better for it. "How is Sumi taking things? I thought the spare room was his." Not that a cat of Sumi's size really needed an entire bedroom all to themselves. Eta didn't have her own room... God forbid she get any thoughts or ideas on the matter.

"Sumi's fine with it. Arin helps him water his plants and spoils him with sushi all the time. So he can't really complain." Given that the kitten was the one that had, in a way, pushed them together he really doubted Sumi would ever complain about their relationship. Unless it involved messing up the kitten's sleep schedule. He took a sip of his drink before getting another piece of fruit. "Sumi was splitting his time between who's bed he was sleeping on. He's been sleeping in the spare room more often though, at night at least. He still sleeps on me when I'm taking a nap or watching tv or editing."

Cordelia listened to what her cousin was saying, playing the words over in her head again as she plucked another strawberry from the plate. Her eyes narrowed slightly as they lingered on Luc's face. She could read him pretty well on most days, but he seemed to be dancing around something and she couldn't tell if it was intentional. "Are you being vague on purpose, Luc? Or did you call Arin's room the spare room on purpose? What was that you said about just coming out and saying things if there was something to be said?" She watched him with lofted brows as she parted her lips around the strawberry, sinking her teeth in to take a bite.

"Pot calling kettle. You can't hold that against me when you don't always do it." He pointed a strawberry at her before popping it in his mouth. He didn't need to dance around it though. It wasn't as if he thought Cordy would disapprove and even if she did he wasn't going to let that change anything. "I called it that because it is Arin's room but it's becoming more of the spare room again. Arin sleeps, we sleep, in my bed more often than not now. It's bigger and softer." He ran a hand through his hair as he spoke. "We've been dating for a couple weeks."

"It must be a Carden thing." She snorted softly after finishing off her strawberry, reaching for her napkin as the waiter returned with their breakfasts. The interruption gave just enough of a window for her to let Luc suffer with her lack of an immediate answer. Once the waiter was gone she glanced across the table to her cousin again, slight smirk on her lips. "Honestly? It's about time. The two of you have been dancing around things since before the Gala and it's pretty obvious that he's crazy about you. I sort of figured that something was going on and the two of you would eventually figure it out for yourselves, but... You're happy?"

"You know, that wasn't exactly the reaction I was expecting." He managed a soft laugh as he broke a piece of bacon in half to pop in his mouth. He'd expected her to be more surprised, or to be worried they'd jumped into something. "Not that it's a bad thing. Nothing was going on. Other than him thinking I'd never be interested and me not realizing i really was interested until he was around more." He couldn't really imagine his life without Arin now. It would feel like something was missing, like a piece of him was gone and that wasn't something he wanted to experience. "Not quite sure happy is the right word but yea, we're good. I would have never thought this when we were in high school but .... I couldn't really ask for someone better."

"Oh, sure. I could fuss over the idea of it more. I could lecture you and potentially threaten him-- might still, if you think that I need to-- but... You're a grown person, Luc, and so is he." She picked up her fork, using the tip of the prongs to work the small pad of butter around the top of her pancakes as she spoke, giving her something to focus on as she organized her thoughts. "He's been half living at your place for months now, hasn't he? I mean, I know he's crashed there more than a few times, you've said so yourself when pa--- when you're evening outings have run late. Not that crashing somewhere is an automatic sign that you're going to hook up or that there's something there. There doesn't have to be... Stars." Her lips pressed together as she reached for the syrup, pouring some in a slow spiral over her pancakes. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that neither of you are the same people you were back then and if 'happy' isn't the right word now I'm glad that you're at least 'good'... Whatever that means."

"It means I'm pretty sure no one wants to be around us when we're together, or will want to, until we get over the whole 'new thing' stage." He laughed, shaking his head as he cut a bit off his omelette and taking a bite. "I've been happy with people before. Arin's ...being with him is something else. Something I can't really explain." He wasn't quite sure he wanted to be able to explain it either. Just being able to feel it was enough.

"So what you're saying is that you've found someone to be disgustingly cute with?" Cordelia laughed softly as she glanced up from her brunch while using her fork to cut into her food. "Take a bit of advice from me? Don't try to explain it. When you try to explain things they get complicated and then you're left sitting back and wondering what's happened all over again."

"Something like that, yea." He nodded. "Though we've tried not to be disgustingly cute around anyone but Sumi and he hasn't complained yet." The kitten seemed to think it was cute and teased about them it. He took another bite of his omelette before putting a bit of salt on it. "What's happened is I found ... somehow, I found something I didn't know was missing. It's sounds so stupid and cliche but it feels good being with him."

I found something I didn't know was missing... She understood that on a deep, emotional level. She could feel those words pressing against her chest and pulling her down. Her fork slid from her fingers, resting against her plate as she simply stared at it. How many times had she found something that made her feel like whatever part of her was lost, empty, broken....... Cordelia glanced up, reaching over to lightly brush her fingers against her cousin's wrist; touch feather light and hesitant only to quickly draw back. "Promise me you'll hold on to that feeling? Don't let it go. Just... Hold on to him, alright?"

"Trust me Cordy." He turned his hand, catching hers for a moment and giving it a squeeze. "We almost lost him once and I am not going to lose him again." He would, without question, kill anyone who tried to take Arin from him. If the Negaverse wanted him back or tried to punish him he knew they'd have to go not only through him but Cordelia as well. He knew how many people Cordy had lost so he knew why she'd say something like that. He wanted her to know he wasn't getting himself into trouble.

Her initial reaction was to draw her hand back, although she didn't. She held still, watching Lucien for a long, quiet moment. Swallowing hard she tugged her hand away so that she could pick up her fork again, prodding at a sausage patty in order to nudge it a bit further away from her eggs. "Fritz... Fritz left town after the Gala. We haven't really spoken much since then." They'd exchanged one or two text messages, if that. A phonecall had come through once at an odd hour and she'd missed it while at work, but the message had been nothing but static and background noise-- a buttdial, no doubt. It felt like something in her life was missing and she wasn't sure she was going to get it back. "I keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason, but every time something like this happens I just... Keep thinking that maybe I was wrong. Again..."

He was surprised at that but it did explain a but if why Cordy had been distant. "I went out of town and still came back. You said he'd been dealing with some things so maybe he just need to take care of something? If he didn't tell you what he was doing." Cordy did have a record of people leaving but after talking to Fritz at the hospital he didn't really think he'd just run off with no warning. Not intentionally and not permanently. "I don't think you are wrong Cordy. Not about Fritz at least."

"It's going to take a little more than just saying that to convince me, Luc, but I appreciate that you trust my instincts more than I do right now." A slight smile managed to make its way onto her lips and despite the fact that it didn't make it all the way to her eyes it was sincere. "I'm planning another trip this weekend, if you're interested in coming along with me." A change of subject was in order, especially if she wanted to convince herself to actually eat her breakfast instead of just poking and prodding it around her plate.
