Olivia's head tilted ever so slightly and question marks could almost be seen forming, "what do you mean?" It didn't sound at all a threat, but the small ghoul was unsure of what the rather nice shadow meant.
"I don't think I would mind if it was hard." There had to have been worse trials she had faced before and really, there were only so few things that she would consider to be difficult or terrible to have to do in order to get home; dieing would not be fun, nor maiming and having to lose her friends would not be ideal.

The shadow shifted and Olivia could almost see keen eyes staring back at her, watching her, waiting. "Very well then, I bear your kind no ill will. What is required of you is a test."
A red crystal appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. "Go on, take it, it is yours. A small gift so that one day, you will return a gift to me twicefold in its potential."
Before Olivia could ask what that meant, the shadow was gone.
chirigami gaia_star Olivia can try "giving" the red crystal away to someone else in any new or existing RP. If she does, anyone holding the crystal gains the ability to see the shadow shapes as actual Horsemen in The Dusk instead of just shadows, this includes NPCs that might be summoned/resummoned. They can also see that their reality of the Dusk is surrounded by a very artificial construct, like a barricade made of matrix-like gridlines. You can apply it to rps as you wish!

There were a multitude of things that Olivia had imagined would have happened, everywhere from a very weird sort of exam involving math or something, puzzles that were really hard, some sort of difficult decision that would make her agonize for hours or even having to fight the shadow herself; that happened a lot after all.
Getting a present was not one of them. True, the shadow had never shown any sort of malice towards the small ghoul, not like the others who had instigated their attacks but receiving a shiny object was very unexpected.
Olivia took the crystal (Of course she was going to take it and hopefully she would be able to keep it if they ever did get out of this weird place) and turned it over in her hand with wonder. What kind of test was going having this going to entail? But, the Wright never got the chance to ask nor show her appreciation for the pretty thing.
Still, "thank you!" Just in case.
She then found herself staring, out unfocused upon the walls which now looked a little funny.
