Same for you!
The youma knew he was outnumbered and any sudden movements would cause them all to leap onto him and attack. Therefore, Bazzite kept his head lowered and his movements very slow and deliberate. The one who spoke to him first - Sabine - had introduced herself and apologized. Something hitched in Bazzite’s throat, but he thought that perhaps even that sound would be misconstrued as aggressive and he bit his lower lip, swallowing thickly. ”It’s… it’s… okay. Uh… Sabine.” came the clumsy reply. The youma displayed submissiveness, but beneath that quivered the taut muscles of intense anxiety. ”...since when does it matter what pronouns you use on a monster…?”
Really, that’s all he was. A walking, talking, family-destroying monster.
It took Bazzite a few moments of looking up into Sabine’s eyes from his submissive position, brows furrowing in confusion, to translate what Sabine was saying about his cousins. ”...you mean, the halfs? Like General Wolfeite?”
When she knelt, the youma slowly drew away from her. His movements were easily telegraphed and very slow. He wasn’t afraid of Sabine; he was afraid of Sabine’s comrades.
The senshi of tactics asking for his name caused the youma’s tapered ears to shoot up in shock and confusion. Locust wings fought not to buzz in an unconsciously natural movement. Everything had to be staged, had to be telegraphed, had to be slow and deliberate. He could easily see the senshi in white with something strange in her hand, one with beautiful dark skin and lovely eyes, one with tattoos who previously held a bat. He’d purposefully allowed the senshi to surround him.
He swallowed thickly again, straining to keep still and to clamp down his surprise, lest it be misconstrued. ”My name?” The youma couldn’t help the confusion in his voice. He seemed shocked that a senshi would care enough to ask such a thing. Ears drooped. ”My name is Bazzite. And, um…” He cocked his head in Imperatrix’s direction, the one whose bat went flying into oblivion. ”...sorry… about your bat. I’d go get it but…” Probably not the best idea at this juncture.
Kastra’s confusion wore plainly on her face, and why wouldn’t it? A youma consciously surrendering and prostrating itself before a group of senshi was unheard of. Bazzite turned his head slightly, though he still kept it low to the ground, and seemed to speak to her directly. ”...I have a mineral name… because I used to be a Captain, a long time ago. I don’t recognize you, though. I remember some senshi but… not you. Not any of you.”
Bright blue eyes glanced to Phact, who held a strange device in her hand. Something about it made Bazzite’s dry carapace itch. ”Did… did a royal give you that? Is that… what you use to get rid of youma like me forever?”

Sabine held her breath as she watched the youma react to her. She was thankful the movements were slow and telegraphed. If they had not, she knew that Phact would not have wasted a moment on bringing down the hammer - well wand - as her eyes drifted over to her friends and she let her breath escape in a slow sigh.
She rose slowly, and made a show of dusting of her skirt and knees even though really only her knees were dirty, and tried to meet the youma's gaze - but found it difficult. She could hear the human inside the monster - kind of - but it was still so jarring for her to accept that this... THING... had once been a human being like them. She silently chastised herself for such prejudice... But at the same time felt entirely justified for holding such thoughts.
Bazzite wasn't human. They, he, she(?)... They - were some monstrous amalgam of insect and human being. The fact that they seemed aware of their monstrous nature cut deep. She visible winced at the words - as if slapped. After all - they were right.
She still didn't view them as a person - how could she? She was staring a monster in the face. It... THEY... were talking to her - and it was a good simulacrum of human speech - but for all she knew they were just mimicking...
No - no, that was stupid. There was too much... LOGIC in the words. They were aware that they were in a bad position - there was intelligence there. The spark of humanity was behind those eyes and she could feel the sudden vexation of the needs of victory weighing against the needs of morality.
This was a war - wars has casualties - what was one more death to prevent something like that from taking the life of another. She was of the opinion that regardless of how human they may or may not appear - all the Negaverse were monsters.
So this one shouldn't be any different - and yet... and yet...
It was.
"I haven't met any General Wolfeite, but I encountered a woman who glowed with power and had three eyes... I don't recall her name off hand." She said gently. "But she was a... Lieutenant, I think is what you call those just starting along the path of darkness?"
She bit her lip and silently cursed at herself and chastised herself for needling the youma.
"I'm sorry, that was... impolite." She heard herself saying as she kept her gaze on the youma. She looked to Phact as they questioned about the wand though, flashing the sign for caution quickly.
She didn't like the prying question at all.
Eyes darted to 'Trix, who she silently flashed the sign for wait, followed by a light head tilt to Kastra and the added sign of on her mark.
Then she turned her attention to Kastra, and flashed a quick take point followed up by, Engage if Danger Close. Then she let her fingers rest, and turned her gaze back to Bazzite. Ready to dive between him and Phact, wand or no wand.
She was not letting any of her friends get hurt because she'd take this risk.

Bazzite makes her feel... FEELS... she is not sure how she feels about FEELS.
"I'll send you a bill...." Imperatrix grumbled, sarcastically, one ear half perked for the sound of the bat hitting earth, so she'd have an idea where to track it down. She was honestly going to have to consider if it was possible to purchase in bulk... but she wasn't comfortable yet relying exclusively on her magic.Very... hands on.
She kept looking over Bazzite with fast flicks of the eye, as though looking for a zipper, or... something that distinguished this creature from the others they'd fought, the reason he could speak when the others she had seen did not.
She knew she was going to have to ask Sabine and the others about a Youma with any kind of title though.
Halfs... half what? Half.... YOUMA? She considered this, playing it over in her head... scowled, and then crinkled up her nose and curled her lip, trying to figure out how that unholy union came about.
"Half YOUMA? What the hell are they getting up to in the Negaverse? When an Agent and an Monster love each other very much...?" She demanded, confused and rather disgusted. Nope. She might not have much of a love life right now but she was pretty sure there were better options if you got that desperate.

"It's a bit more complicated than that." Phact spoke, her voice clearly taking on a tone different than the one she had wore when she had called for help. The woman was becoming the dove she represented. While Kastra was the queen of the calming and reassuring, Phact had begun to learn how to reassure others as best she could. At least she could provide some soft comfort until Kastra could work her abilities. Everyday she thanked the heavens for her.
What was unsure was which of the questions she was responding to as she shifted the wand in her hand to a more relaxed stance until her eyes gazed over to Imperatrix. "I don't know the entire specifics but I do know it involves something happening to the chaos within the agent. What I really don't know..."
Phact's eyes shifted now back to the youma...no...back to Bazzite. "Is how an agent became a full youma..." Her voice trailed off as she watched the interaction. Phact saw the signals from Sabine. She understood the young woman's worry in the questions and the concern. Bazzite had calmed himself. Until he made a move...
"Bazzite....or would Captain Bazzite be more appropriate? I am afraid the four of us here are at a loss for what is going on. You see, we have faced agents and youma. Sabine has fought a half youma and I have been told from former agents." Phact exhaled, her eyes shifting to the wand she could see Bazzite looking at. Sabine's stance was clear...she would throw herself between Phact and any harm.
Phact could not...would not...allow that.
Her eyes glanced at the other two and she stepped forward, slowly making her way towards Sabine and the male. The senshi of doves would never allow her friends to take harm for the sake of protecting her...she would die first if it meant they got away.
Stopping only when she could reach out her free hand to touch Sabine's shoulder, Phact gave it a squeeze. This was her way of saying....enough. She would take matters from here....Sabine was needed to coordinate the others. After all, it was an unspoken agreement. Should anything happen to her...
"But what I had not believed...or allowed myself to believe...was that humans could completely be turned into youma." Her empty hand shifted from Sabine's shoulder and reached out, offering her white gloved hand to the being that had just tried to kill her. They were the Council. Not judgement without all the information....
"Until this appeared before me." Phact raised the wand to where everyone could see it. "Before us. And we watched a youma be transformed back into a human. I thought it might have been a fluke...a happen chance. But now..."
Phact watched Bazzite closely. "No a royal did not give this to me. There is not a royal out there I would accept something from and willinging use. This wand came to us in a great time of need. And then again when it returned a youma to its human form."
"I do not know what its complete potential is Captain. Not yet..." There was an edge of warning in her voice as she lowered the wand.
She took a second to glance at her court...her friends.
"But if they are willing to listen...to help...then talk. A moment ago you were trying to kill us. What changed?"

If she hadn't been looking she probably would have missed the glances, both from Sabine and from Phact. They were both looking to her to make the call. Her?! She had a moment to think that this was pure craziness before she watched her leader and friend move toward the creature.
She wanted to reach out both hands and draw them back, but she had to back their play. Phact knew what she was doing, she had to, and Sabine? Well Sabine was the smartest girls she knew.
She gave them each a nod, she standing just a bit taller as she readied herself. She watched as Bazzite shrunk back from them, saw the fear in his eyes and it took most of her will not to back down. Was he truly afraid of them? Were they in the wrong in this?
No, she would not doubt herself, not in this. He was youma, and even if he had once been a man, a Captain, he was Negaverse. They had tried so many times to kill them. Hell she had seen the blood and tears first hand! She would not feel pity on this man, not until he gave her more reason.
She turned her eyes to 'Trix, giving her a glance that said to keep her in her sight. One false movement and Kastra would work her magic. One misstep and she would protect her friends. She did not believe in fighting. She did not believe that blood should be spilt, but in the end, she knew that these women, her friends, came first.
"I am willing to listen...if the others agree he can be trusted long enough for him to speak. I have seen too many things in this war to believe in absolutes...there are exceptions to all rules....and if he is one of them...which I will reserve judgement for now...I will listen to what he has to say."

Meanwhile, Trix is like WTF IS THIS.
Bazzite's brows seemed to furrow once Sabine started to explain the particular Lieutenant she'd happened to meet earlier - someone with three eyes and was glowing. The youma recognized the person by her description. "That... sounds like Carnotite. She has the... the lightbulbs around her head." She was rude, and, when Bazzite was not under the influence of the necklace, the youma found his half-monstrous cousin to be downright infuriating.
His next few statements would have somewhat answers 'Trix's questions. "I don't know what caused Carnotite to be a half-youma. Some of them are grafted... Like, a long time ago, there was a purple woman who was half-youma. Tanzanite. She said she lost an arm to someone and the higher-ups grafted a youma arm onto her, and it was a parasite to her. She became half over time, I think. She made Zanz half, too, but I don't know how. General Wolfeite has ears and a tail... Cinnabar is a half too, but I've only heard of her... Bischofite was a half. He said a youma tried to take over his body but he defeated it or... something. I think he'd dead now."
The youma stilled and his luminescent blue eyes locked onto Phact's red, not in an aggressive stance, but more that he was paying close attention to her and her words. Wings folded back despite wishing to vibrate freely. His movements were still slow and deliberate. The youma smell the anxiety in the air. "Just Bazzite is fine... I haven't been a Captain in four years. That's what Beni said, anyway. I don't really remember..."
His memory had an alarming number of holes.
It didn't matter, then, if they knew the mechanism through which Bazzite became what he was. He was the only one in his position that he was aware of - all other agents he knew were half, if anything at all. "My General... he made me this way. Four years ago. It was an accident. I don't remember very much from when I was a person. A lot of it is really... fuzzy..."
And we watched a youma be transformed back into a human.
Bazzite couldn't help the immediate jolt to his person upon hearing those words. Eyes widened and ears stood shock straight, muscles pulled taut. "What?!" came a raspy gasp in disbelief. That thing... that thing you have, it makes me nervous but... but... you can... I can...?" Truly, the thought of becoming human again was nothing but a dream. It was a dream Bazzite could not immerse himself in while sleeping - only a wistful daydream constructed from half-remembered thoughts. The youma kept to his knees, raising his clawed hands to examine them in confusion. Could these hands be soft again? Could his eyes and skin feel the warmth of the sun?
Or was this a trick?
From the folds of his tattered Captain's outfit the youma pulled a long and silver chain. The chain terminated in a small, bluish stone pendant. Bazzite had grasped this necklace very preciously, gingerly, with a softness unusual for a youma. "...a person... me?" A soft, shivering whisper escaped his throat and the youma's skin started to change... to soften, to become pale. His form shrank considerably, the insectoid wings melting away into dust. Before long, the svelte form of a young boy knelt before the Council, the human form that was once the creature. Clad in a disheveled old sweatshirt from years past, the boy still maintained a youma's distinctive energy signature. It was just a ruse, a temporary glamour.
His voice even softened to that of a human's. "I can't... be like this for very long." Compared to his previous six-and-a-half-foot towering locust form, Bazzite's human guise was considerably smaller. "...but... I used to look like this. Beni, he gave me this necklace... it lets me think like a person. Usually it's just... eat and eat and kill and do whatever the General says..."
Sabine was about to reply that yes - they had used the wand to turn a youma into a human once before - it had been a somewhat awkward thing - and had required the assistance of Cosmos to pull it off - but all of that was stolen away when the youma... melted (there wasn't a better word in her mind for the transition to his human glamour).
The color drained from her face. She stared, mouth agape, at the much smaller, svelte figure of the boy that the towering youma had once been. Her mouth went dry - she tasted ashes.
They turn people into Monsters... The voice said again - louder this time - as if proving it's point. She felt her stomach roll, and jolt, and she felt like she was going to be sick. She wanted to be sick.
She wanted something other than this hollow feeling of anger and dread to go away. She felt the anger burn hot and righteous, and she told herself, that if she ever met this General, this... Beni... She was going to introduce a certain part of his anatomy to her boot - repeatedly.
She was shaking with anger - her whole body vibrating as the her mouth closed and her jaw set and she could feel the hot angry tears of rage spilling down her face in silence as she bit back the impulse to have the Youma summon it's master.
Finally she heard herself speak - but it was distant, and her voice was shaking with a rage she'd never heard from herself before. Her voice was almost hollow with it.
"We can save you," She heard herself say - as if she was beside herself, not truly a part of her body. "The four of us... and one more... The last time we did this we had a Royal with us.... Princess Cosmos. I am sure we could call upon her again... But..."
He looked down at her shaking hands. "I think we all have to agree that this is the best course of action... I think... And this is my personal feelings here... That if we can save him - if he wants to be saved... Then we give him the benefit of the doubt..."
She looked to the others. "I vote we try..."

She didn't know most of the list of names rattled off, but she made a note of them, mouthing them quietly in an attempt to memorize them, and then nodded, sharply.
"I'm for it." She added, firmly, eyes narrowed. "********. Better than dusting things forever." It might be a hassle, but she'd take as many monsters away from those ******** as she could, if she had her way. Dusting them only to have them come back and fight someone else? God that seemed to exhaustively pointless. It was like monster Tetris.
"And no one deserves to feel like a mistake." She added, with furious conviction. "If you mean it, we got your back."

She doesn't get it, but by god she is down with ******** with the negaverse.
Phact stood silently as she listened she had been taking in the information the male was offering but it was as if her brain froze on one four letter word he had said. Red eyes narrowed as if she was racking her brain for a memory she had locked away. Beni. The name rang a bell deep within her and stirred something in her core.
"Beni..."
The image of a small blonde headed General dressed in blue with a spear much like Leucite appeared in her mind.
Red eyes enlarged and Phact felt herself snarl as the body in front of her shifted. Her hand gripped hard around the wand in her hand as Phact steadied herself against the rage and anger in the depth of her chest. "General Benitoite". The words were venom on her lips. General Leucite and his captain were a pain in her side. But they were direct. She could face them...see them for what they were. General Benitoite had caused a far greater offence....
"Kastra. Imperatrix." Phact's eyes gazed forward now taking in the appearance of the human male that appeared there. She could visually see him but anyone who looked at her face could see that she was only half looking. "See to Sabine." Her voice was curt. There was a note of do not test me as she knew Sabine would not like being called out for the emotions she was showing. But she needed to make sure the woman would not lose it right there. Phact would not allow this to get back to Benitoite that one of her team showed such caring emotion...
That one of her team could have her heart toyed with...not again. She would not lose someone else she loved to his twisted game.
Behind her, Phact could hear Trix's voice and the conviction within it. Unless Kastra voiced concern, she knew all four of them would be willing to help...if he even wanted help. General Benitoite was now part of this...Phact's trust had been nearly shattered....
"Bazzite." Phact finally spoke, her words holding a protective tone of a mother bird. "This wand has done so before and I believe it can again. If that is what you want. We cannot force you to leave behind the world you know but I want to caution you, the change may come with a cost." Kairatos' face flashed before her mental eye. "You may lose some of your memories. I cannot say which ones but it seems to be one of the normal side effects of purification...." Was this purification? The first youma they had returned to a human had been just that...human. Bazzite was different. He had been an agent...
Would he become a knight? Would he return to being an agent? Would this even work?
Finally though, Phact whispered in a tone meant only for his ears. "But if I discover this is all a ruse for Benitoite's games, I will personally tear you apart before dusting you forever...." Well, half of that was true. But he didn't need to know that. Heck, maybe the wand could work like a royal's tiara. Maybe?
The warning flashed in her eyes before they softened once more to a caring mother. "Bazzite, the choice is yours. Unless Kastra has something else?"
Turning her head, she smiled warmly at her friend waiting for her response...and Bazzite's.

The tension in the air only seemed to grow as Kastra listened to the words that were being shared between the youma and her comrades. could they really trust him? Did they have much of a choice? He had said that it was and experiment, that his Beni had caused all of this to occur.
It was clear that Phact knew who this Beni was, for the look on her face hardened and her orders became more solid. Kastra would not question her, not at this time.
She went and tended to Sabine, drawing her back just a bit from the youma. She had known the other was on the edge, but she was not one to step in the way. She knew too well that those under stress could snap. She did not want to be on the receiving end of Sabine's right hook.
"It is ok, Sabine...we will fix the harm that has been done." She wanted to add, if they could, but it was better to remain positive in all of this, for her friend's sake.
As Phact look to her for an opinion, she nodded. She taking a slow breath before speaking. "They do this to those that are unwilling...they steal lives and souls in turn. I will do what I can to save one more life from the hell of that place. He does not deserve to go back there."

Princess Cosmos...
Bazzite seemed agitated by the name alone, and hugged himself. Wrapping his falsely human arms around an equally false human form, the monster-in-boy's-clothing looked downright upset. The necklace's blessing (perhaps, curse) was beginning to wear off. If the youma had any hope for being transformed back into a human, he couldn't risk harming the senshi with the wand. He needed to leave, and soon. Without the help of the necklace, Bazzite was an unpredictable, famished and near-mindless beast.
Phact's derisive spitting of his General's name caught the youma's attention, despite his psyche starting to slip. He couldn't even hold onto his human voice much longer. "You... you know Beni?" came the innocent question, despite the metallic tinge returning to his voice. The human suit he wore was slipping as well, stretching as the creature within the suit was simply too big. Bazzite's blue eyes took on their blackened sclera as he spoke. "I don't... remember very much, anyway. Beni said I had a family, but I don't remember them. Beni is all I've got, I guess."
Her threat didn't seem to phase the youma at all. "...no trick. I know... I know I'm just... just a monster but... I don't lie. Just..."
There was visible and audible pain reaching his form and his voice now, Bazzite hunching over with excruciating gasps of air. The human visage buckled and broke, tearing open to reveal the previous locust creature in the boy's place. Wings stretched and vibrated once, quickly and loudly. Bazzite's clawed hands gripped his head in obvious agony. "I... I can't stay here... any longer... the necklace... It's wearing off and... and I'll try to eat you again... but... I'll find you again... I'll find you and..."
With an alien roar to the sky itself, Bazzite did not make to stand, but to turn around and leap to the nearest warehouse roof. He had to get away from the senshi and their delicious starseeds if he had any hope for himself. "M-maybe... you can... fix me..."
It was then that the youma sought to put as much distance between himself and his would-be saviors, his instincts to feed becoming more and more overwhelming with eat step. Perhaps he could fade into the Rift, into sweet darkness, to save Sabine and the others from himself.

Sabine allowed herself to be herded. She knew that tone in Phact's voice - and she wasn't about to argue with the other woman. Even if she were capable of protest she likely would not have. But she could feel her emotions welling up - far past overflowing at this point. She wanted to hug Bazzite - provided she could get over the repulsion she felt in the back of her mind - the part of her that recognized him for what he was - regardless of the sympathy his story engendered.
She did not speak, just allowed herself to be maneuvered. She hated being of two minds about this. The logic part of her brain - the part that she trusted to provide the court with tactical thinking - was at war with her more emotional parts. It was raving at the fact that they were even remotely passing up a chance to test out the wand and see if it could just... destroy the youma. They didn't know what it was fully capable of - but if it could cleanse the world of evil... Weren't they OBLIGATED to find out? Weren't they honor bound to do their utmost to ensure the world would be a better place? To purge it of evil to the very core?
She watched the boy become a monster again - tried to pull her eyes away and found she could not. Her stomach heaved against her will - she could taste the bile on her tongue and she swallowed it back, angry tears shining as she watched the misshapen monster of a man take flight. Her body was still shaking - the rage was threatening to overflow.
She would not lash out at her sisters though. That would be foolish and unwise. No - she found herself thinking. No - she would save this anger for another. For this Benitoite, that Phact seemed to know so much about. A name she would ask Phact about later - demand to know the truth behind connection.
Looking down at her hands, she wondered vaguely, if staining them with the blood of a monster like Benitoite would invalidate her innocence? If this war hadn't already taken that during the raid on Negaspace. But her mind wondered if that old adage wasn't wrong - Those who hunt monsters, become them.
You die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. An eye-for-an-eye leaves the whole world blind. Words tumbled through her confused and struggling thoughts like scared men who had just been ordered up and out of the trench to charge dead across no man's land in the dead of night.
The RIGHT thing to do was to save Bazzite. The RIGHT thing to do was to see him become human again. That should be the only focus - the only goal.
But she wanted blood. She wanted vengence, pain, and suffering for the monster that had subjected Bazzite to such a horrible fate. All for... what? An accident he said? No, she couldn't believe that.
She wouldn't.
There was only one other person on this planet that could make Sabine feel this way - and she had that bitches number. That Captain would RUE the day she sought to end Sabine's life. She would wish she had succeeded in doing so if she ever saw her again. But now she added another name to that list - to the list of people she was willing to kill without a second though. Without the slightest bit of pity or (ironically) mercy.
She turned her head away from the others and spat, her voice almost inaudible and hoarse. "I'm going to f#$*ing kill him."
She didn't say anything after that, just pivoted her body to face the others, face pointed down at the ground, as she contemplated just exactly HOW she could pull that off.
