Google had now, indeed, allowed for anything about the things that Quen- Mr. Marinus- was listing off with practiced ease that left Jada floating on a sea of And this is why I am looking for a professional. Cleaning methods, and UV lighting, microscopy... she could research it, of course, pointed in the right direction, but it would be only superficial learning at best. Something, still, to become acquainted with before her next conversation with the man. He came to something she did know was in the house, though- marble. "We have lots of marble?" she ventured after a moment. "Flooring, mostly, and the stairs in the entry. Some of the statues." she pointed to the photos she had brought, or at least the ones she knew for sure. A couple of indoor horse statues, a set of four goddesses reminiscent of the seasons, the banister along the balcony outside the ballroom.
She probably sounded like an idiot who knew next to nothing about the home she had grown up in. Oh, she could tell him all about secret passageways, if a room was carpet or tile or wood... but the statues? She'd never paid them much mind until it all started... aging. Her mother had been wonderful at making everything seem to have a glitter and shine, hiding the rot and keeping the Chamberlyns shimmering as though their money tree was planted right outside. "Of course any additional equipment you determine you might need would be accommodated for." she had dug through some of the old finances, gotten some estimates on what had been the upkeep bill to pretend everything was fine. Knew what she might be signing on for. Her accountant probably wasn't prepared, but were they ever?
Jada licked her lips when he mentioned the timeline on materials for the 'piece' and considered. Oh, she could say next week and then go desecrate the Temple picking out gems and yanking up coral. But no... "It could be as long as a couple of months?" she ventured at last, carefully considering. "I wouldn't want to hold you up from any other work if it takes longer, of course." That would hardly be fair. And perhapy it would come about a custom piece wasn't in the cards. Who knew? Everything in her life was so by-the-seat-of-the-pants of late...
But there was one thing she could certainly do, and that was set an appointment for the next time they could meet. "I'm not available on Tuesday evenings or Wednesday during day hours." Tuesdays were family night, and Wednesdays belonged to her homeworld. "And I believe you said you aren't available until after 4 on weekdays?" She'd scribbled it on every note she had for him after the phone call snafu. "I can make everything available to you on the weekend as well. The twins frequently stay with family on the weekend, or I could arrange it so you could have some uninterrupted time to take a look and assess what I may have missed in my look-over." it was possible, probably likely, there was some damage on things she wouldn't have even thought to look at. She already had people lined up to replace some paneling, refurbish some things in at least 5 of the bathrooms...
Selling the place wasn't off her list just yet if she kept finding things to do with it.
"Do you have a preference?"

Her breath of relief at his continued patience with her complete lack of ability to provide a single straight answer was soft but audible. "Thank you for understanding." the items she would like to procure for his use weren't exactly local, and making sure they were both quality, and that they were what he would need as well... Well. "The weekends would be perfect," she admitted, thinking to her forthcoming schedule. "I'll have a look and get back to you within the week. Chances are that you'll be dealing with me directly." She had staff, but not anyone who would know the ins and outs of the home the way she did. "I'll make sure to clear a full day for you to be able to browse at your leisure, and I'll keep looking for any missing paperwork that might help you."
There was probably more than she thought about- some would be able to be fixed up with a good cleaning, but she didn't know enough herself to be able to identify what could safely handle the deep cleaning, and what might be deceptively sturdy to the cleaners. Google had done its best for her, but it was no replacement for the experience of an artisan. And he was businesslike, but he seemed to be warming up at last, however, now that the initial business was concluding. Jada let her composure slip some in reply, and gave him a genuine smile- not her model professional, but a sincere one. "That is more than amenable, Que- Mr. Marinus." she leaned back in the chair, taking a moment to let her eyes drift away from the tall man at last, considering the catfe with interest. She loved animals, and cats may be more standoffish for her personality, but they did seem less inclined to trade a secret for a bellyrub.
The weight of business off her shoulders, Jada felt somewhat free to be more nosy about the surroundings, peering at the artist through her lashes for a moment before her eyes slid to the strange contrast of the catfe. He was polite but formal, and yet the catfe seemed so warm and welcoming. As a business should be, of course, but did that mean he had a good partner backing him? A secret hidden smooshy side? Or did he just have the oft-mentioned 'resting b***h face' and the warmth he'd slowly added to his voice was his version of her own 'setting aside her camera-smile'?
"I think going and seeing the cats would be a good idea now, actually," she said after a moment, nails clicking lightly against the table as she straightened, "Giulia is like to pick one and get attached before anyone has the chance to stop her."

“I shall look forward to your next calling, then.” He wondered of her specification to Guila alone in the threat of attachments. As much the other child had specified dogs, most children he’s ever encountered who loved animals would gladly spring at any chance for any pet they weren’t expressly afraid of. The amount of small children wanting every animal along a zoo trip, came to mind. It could be a matter of contrariness? General or specific to competition with Guilia that if she became attached he would very specifically NOT be? Regardless, it was not a thing with enough data to come to a solid conclusion on. The point was a mention of the cadence of pleasantries and the endings of formal business. “Or possibly all of them, rather than one? If her love of cats is anything like many of our wonderful patrons. Please-” He stood up to give her the social excuse and cues of freedom to go and see to her wards. “Some relaxation is well overdue. A welcome to you to the catroom.” Infinities possibly a fin from this side?~ heart

Quenton rose, and Jada after him. He didn't seem inclined to shake hands goodbye, so she gave him instead a smile as she tucked items quickly back into her bag and slipped the chair back in place, lifting so it didn't risk scraping gratingly across the floor. "All of them is more likely, with Giulia," Jada agreed, trying to restrain a burst of laughter. "Which I'll tell you in advance that if she tries to tell anyone I said yes, you can tell her how brown her eyes are." Because she would be so full of s**t. Luckily, Giulia wasn't the sort to directly lie- it was usually omissions, easily identified by the scraping of a toe or a guilty downward look.
"Thank you again," she said before disappearing to join her family in the cat room, "It has been a pleasure meeting you, Quenton. Mr. Marinus."
